Chapter 6 : The lowest point i ever was
"Sync Ratio stabilized at 86,5 %" - Maya Ibuki said as she observed the screen of a computer . Shinji and Rei were currently taking a sync test in the test plugs . While Rei was still sitting with her avareges of 40s to 50s . Shinji decided that Rei will need to quit them gradually since the immediate stop could likely endanger her life . So now Rei was taking half of the daily dose . Shinji meanwhile skyrocketed with his record . His death-straight focus was the reason for him since riding his bike and piloting the Eva was the same. Both required his calm and focus. And both behind the handlebars and controls of the Eva this strategy seemed effective
"It's amazing , a few weeks and he maybe will reach 100,you can both come out"- Doctor Ritsuko Akagi said as the sibling duo left their test plugs and made their way to the locker rooms . Shinji never understood why there were so many lockers . There was only him and no one except the pilots could come here . Shinji took off his plugsuit and took a shower . After that he changed into his biker outfit , since he only used his bike as a means of transport in Tokyo 3 . Since he got paid and it wasn't Neogoya he could just pay for the fuel instead of his ,Classic" way of extracting gas from a random car . As Shinji made his way out of the locker room to meet with Rei one of the speakers gave out an announcement
"Third Child , report to the Commander's office"- the synthesised voice behind a speaker as Shinji just let out a sigh and texted Rei to wait for him at the parking lot. As Shinji traveled the world's biggest labyrinth that was the Geofront he finally reached the right elevator . After a ride that felt like hours he finally reached the final floor . Chamber of the bastard king. As Shinji entered the room he could see that the Commander wanted to assert dominance over the one that came in . The room was a massive place of nothingness filled with ancient runes , behind a giant window there was a small desk where his father was sitting and next to him was as always Sub-Commander Fuyutsuki who stood next to the desk . Shinji finally reached the desk as he mocked a salute and said
"Third Child reporting to Commander ,I am a fucking dork" Rokubungi , how can i make your life harder ?"- Shinji said as even Fuyutsuki looked on Gendo .
"It's regarding The First Child"-Gendo said as Shinji clutched his hand into a fist. After he saw what his father was giving to Rei he hated him even more than ever . Even more than himself after he had an ,episode" with a certain drug that he tried to forget and never talk about again. Something that he didn't tell Rei Misato or even Aimi . Of course he lied to Rei that he only took Adderall.
"What do you mean ?"-Shinji said as he tried to assert dominance in the conversation
"You made her change her accommodations without my permission"- Gendo said as Shinji's primal instincts insisted on throwing Gendo out of the window.
"Yes , because I'm her family, not you. And I won't allow her to live in such a shithole. I would prefer living in an orphanage instead of an apartment that looks like a prison cell . What would mom think of this dork ?"-Shinji asked as he observed the face of clearly unsettled Gendo observing him while Shinji stood calm and cold observing both his father and Fuyutsuki .
"I'll keep the decision taken by the sub-commander final. But every decision from now on will be confronted with me . Do you understand ?"- Gendo said as his calm had returned to his voice
"Yes Rokubungi, and I think I know why mom died. She didn't want to look at your disgusting face"-Shinji said as he left the room using the elevator
"He has gotten your personality traits" -Fuyutsuki said as he looked upon Gendo
"He is just a punk and a criminal , his criminal record proves it . You still havent told me why you went against my wishes Fuyutsuki"-Gendo said
"Because I believe that Yui would want this. Even if the world shaped him like it did he still has her compassion and that he tried to save Rei was enough proof of that . Also he would find out about her conditions . So it would be a problem later anyways so we just solved it prematurely"-Fuyutsuki said as Gendo just looked at him. Meanwhile Shinji made his way to the parking lot and the only thing that could save his mood probably was a good evening with Rei . But his mind immediately was filled with anger as the image of the pile of drugs on Rei's desk returned to him. It reminded him of that day he always tried to forget.
AD 2014 NEOGOYA
The sound of the rippling sewer water was the first thing he heard as his mind finally returned to reality. It was probably midnight as the night sky filled with neons from other districts lit up the darkness. He also noticed his bike laying on the ground . It had few dents but he could still ride it .
"Aw fuck, what hour is now anyways ?"-Shinji said as he checked his watch
"01:30 , how did i even got here ?"-Shinji thought as his senses noticed a little baggy in his Hand . As Shinji got it close to his face . As read the word on the baggy his spine shivered and his heart skipped a beat. ,AKIRA' the most powerful drug in the whole of Neogoya. It was named like that after a boy that tried this mix of most powerful stimulants and substances in one pill for the first time .He died on the spot as his brain fried immediately . Shinji was lucky that he even survived such a mix . As Shinji laid on the ground he could hear engines of motorbikes being turned off. And noticed two boys in his age observing the sewers
"There he is !"-Tetsuo screamed as he and Kaneda runned to laying Shinji
"Shin !"-Kaneda screamed as he checked Shinji's pulse and his eye's color
"Blue , thank god effects stopped"- Kaneda said as he helped get Shinji back on his legs . Just before punching him in the face sending Shinji back on the ground
"WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING !? You disappeared for 3 days and didnt call ?! And now you took something that could be considered a suicide pill?! "-Kaneda screamed as Shinji remembered why he took the pill . It's been two weeks since his uncle's death. After that battle with the clowns and an escape from the police Shinji returned to the apartment and just cried himself to sleep . He now lost the closest man he had in his life . After Takuro who he considered a brother and Aimi who saw as a little sister, another loss was his breaking point. He tried to hide it from everyone how he was feeling and that he is on the edge. A week passed as Shinji grew tired of most of the things he enjoyed . He started spending most of his time alone , cut out. Biking was still fun but it was a temporary stimulation. He couldnt remember how did he even got those pills . It was his first time since he once took Adderall. And it would be weird for him since he was always against drugs. Probably he just wanted to die or to ,run away" from his inner thoughts.
"I simply dont know Kaneda , its just an inner need for pain"-Shinji said as Kaneda and Tetsuo sat next to him
"Listen , we know that your going though a tough time . And we know that you are on a breaking point. But you still have us , and were gonna try to help you as we can"- Kaneda said as he putted his hand on Shinji's shoulder
"Kaneda is right , we were always helping eachother . And this is just another obstacle we have to deal with as a team . Were gonna get you back on your feet in no time" - Tetsuo said as Shinji got back on his feet.
"No more running away"- Shinji said as he throwed away the baggy to the sewer water.
Shinji again clutched his fist as he remembered that day . His lowest point where he broke one of his fundamental rules . As he finally reached the parking lot he noticed his bike and Rei waiting for him . As they got on Shinji made their way to the car elevator . The ride to the surface lasted for 20 minutes , after they got on the streets Shinji floored the gas as they made their way to their apartment . In the elevator Shinji kept his eyes only on Rei and thought about telling her about his lowest point in life 'I think i can tell her , she will probably understand'-Shinji thought as the elevator reached their floor . As they entered the apartment Shinji made his way to the kitchen as Rei went to change into the T-Shirt Shinji gave her . Shinji noticed that Rei was always wearing his old oversized VR46 T-Shirt that reached her knees when she was wearing it . At least in his mind it was better than a school uniform as his Punk persona hated dress codes and following the rules . After Shinji finished washing the dishes and Rei was sitting on the chair, Shinji finally got the courage he needed .
"Rei ?"- Shinji asked with a punch of uncertainty that was new for Rei to hear from her brother . He was always confident , fiery and brave . It was interesting for her .
"Yes brother ?"
"What was your lowest point ?"-Shinji asked as Rei grew curious about the question .
"Lowest point ?" - Rei asked as Shinji looked at her
"The lowest point. Where you wanted to just give up and run away from your problems even if it means death ?" - Shinji asked as Rei observed her brother ' He wants to tell me something ? Is my brother having a problem ?'- Rei thought as Shinji looked at her .
"Rei , I need something to tell you . But please don't tell anyone . And I'm sorry if you feel that I lied and I will ask you to forgive me"- Shinji said as Rei just looked intrigued .
"I'm listening"- Rei said as Shinji told her about his misadventure with AKIRA and how he is sorry that he didn't tell her about his attempt to take his life away. After that Rei Looked at him with a curious expression
"After that I never touched a pill again . Not even a painkiller. And that is why i hate drugs "- Shinji finished as he looked at his sister directly in the eyes
"I'm not angry brother . I can understand why you didn't want to tell me about it , and I'm satisfied that you took only 1 pill. It shows that you are not a drug addict"-Rei said as Shinji had an relieved expression on his face
"Thanks Rei , you are the best"-Shinji said as he embraced blushed Rei
"Well enough of this depresso for today , we have homework to do and some spare time to spend"-Shinji said as he got out his books and started doing homework . Since he was a good student, humanistic subjects were easy for him . Things like Maths and Physics were on the same level and his experience as a mechanic helped him with that . He helped Rei with the things she had problems with and they finished their homework in 1,5 hour . After that they sat before the TV and watched whatever it was on the TV. And Shinji was lucky that one of his favorites,„Bubblegum Crisis" - was on the air . alongside Galvion, those were two of his favorite anime from Katsuhiro's old tapes . He even nicknamed his bike after the famous rocket-powered motorcycle that Priss was using in episode 4 . It was one of 9-year old Shinji's dreams when he could finally use his mechanic skills to build a motorcycle with a Rocket boost one day. Hours passed as he and Rei experienced more of the pre-second Impact anime and movies . When Misato came back Shinji got to work making dinner as the captain got to work with her beer supply . After 2 hours Shinji was in bed thinking about his talk with Rei 'I'm lucky to have an understanding sister'- he thought as he finally drifted to slumber. Next day he woke up at 6:50. for a week now Rei was waking him up. Instead of being angry he just rolled with it. Misato observed the duo as she noticed that Shinji was becoming a less-sharp sociopath that enjoyed sending enemy bikers to the hospital while going 250 km/h . After he met Rei he showed a side that she never saw besides Section 2 reports . After breakfast Shinji packed bentos for himself and Rei as they left the apartment and after that a reving of a customized CBR engine. Misato was also preparing for work as she thought to herself 'What surprise will Shinji Ikari show next time'-Misato thought as meanwhile the Duo was standing on the lights as another bike came next to them Revving its engine. After he stopped the biker putted up the visor on his helmet and said
"To the next traffic light"- And put his visor down. As Shinji smirked and checked his custom display . After pressing a switch on the touchscreen the display said 'TWO WHEEL DRIVE-ON' Shinji said to Rei
"Hold on tight !"-Shinji said as Rei clutched her hands on his chest while Shinji was putting his SDAT earplugs as the track #12 of Megamix #1 started playing

As the green light went down Shinji only left a pile of dust behind for his rival as he speeded though the streets to reach their school . Shinji parked his bike and he and Rei went to the school building as he went to change into his school uniform . After that the day went in the slowest possible way as the Teacher was only talking about the Second Impact . Shinji waited for
only two things in this lesson . And one of them he got.
"All right students , now check your tests"- the teacher said as the class rushed to the desk to get their tests. Shinji got his and smirked in spirit as he went to see Kensuke and Toji .
"So what did you get ?"-Shinji asked as he looked at the military/moto-geek and the tracksuit-wearing jock.
"68/100"-Toji said as he showed them his paper
"74/100 , what did you get ?"-Kensuke asked as Shinji smirked and showed them his paper to their shocked expressions
"98 ?! How ?"-Toji asked as Shinji just smirked
"Studying a lot and as a mechanic i'm pretty good at those math things"-Shinji said as he made his way to Rei's desk and saw her points
"82 , good job Rei"-Shinji said as Rei smiled at him
"Thank you brother" - Rei said as Shinji made his way back to his desk, opening his laptop to check the school calendar . And the number of school tests for this month made him pale . 'It will be harder to keep racing and do all of this shit. But at least NERV will slow down with those synch tests right ?'-Shinji thought as he opened his NERV calendar. And again he went pale. 'AH COME ON !? Really ? 16 !? So it will be hard to keep up my dual-identity . Both as Shinji Ikari and The Highway Star ! But i will come up with something'-Shinji thought as the bell rang
A/N : sorry for such a delay. I'm on summer vacation and this chapter was written when I had free time . From next week expect the regularity back . And I decided to Insert Shinji's misadventure with drugs to show that even if he is a badass sociopath punk , he is still able to be broken . But you need way way WAY more to do that with this Shinji.And give some explaniation behind why he hates drugs so much. And yes I love both Bubblegum Crisis and Galvion . I hope that this tiny retcon wont change a thing for you.
