Chapter 8 : Ramiel part 1-Rei
"Everything will be alright"-That was what he last said to her before he left her with his goggles when he speeded to the Eva Cage . And five minutes later she saw how the Eva 01 was vaporized by the laser from the giant oktahedron . The scream she heard from her brother pierced her soul as she clenched the goggles she was holding in her hand . It was the first time she was actually scared for someone . It was him that was trying to show her the world that was outside of her purpose . He was the first one that treated her as a human being . She knew that Commander Ikari viewed her only as his tool to accomplish his goal of seeing his beloved wife again. Her brother showed her true compassion without knowing that she would have to be sacrificed for someone's benefit . She viewed him as her source of enlightenment . Showing how to be human . It was when Eva 01 returned to The Geofront and the rescue crew took out her brother a tear flew down her face . And next a second and the third. Before running to the bathroom to clean herself up . Rei looked at the mirror as she was trying to feel her brother's AT field. It was weak but it kept fighting which reassured Rei . After she cleaned herself up she made her way to the changing room .After that she dressed in her plug suit to help with the operation to kill the angel designated as Ramiel. After she got into the entry plug all the basic start procedures . After the newly fixed Unit 00 launched she made her way to the JSDF base where the new Positron Cannon was stored. She took out the cannon and placed it where the operation was supposed to take place . After that she returned to the eva cage as the elevator took her back to The Geofront. After she took a shower and changed into her school uniform Rei made her way to the male locker. She wanted to take Shinji's things with her so that he could change into his clothes . As she opened the locker she noticed Shinji's sports bag . It had to have some history as it was mostly patched . Rei knew about her brother's work and knew that he had friends that he could easily call his family . But she didn't know how his persona was known . Curiousness took her as Rei opened his trusty laptop that he was carrying everywhere he went . After opening the search bar she typed ,,HIGHWAY STAR" and pressed enter. As the search results showed up she noticed that it showed his photos made out of sight . It showed Shinji speeding through the streets of Neogoya. Rei saw her brother's fame as she played one of the videos. It showed a deserted Highway as she could hear police sirens in the background. Before 5 or 7 bikes speeded off across the street as Rei noticed Shinji speeding across the screen . She paused the video as she saw her brother on his bike . It looked less sophisticated and more scrap-build , but still the same spirit . She closed the video and opened another one . It was probably a victory celebration .
'HELL YEAHHHHHH!'-Recording Shinji screamed as he put his finger in the air . Before a person with a mike runned to him.
'It was an amazing performance ! Any comments ?'- The person asked as Shinji just took off his goggles
'Just like always , I wake up, I eat , I win and I go to sleep . I'm great and that's it . It's just the skill and the performance of my bike'-Shinji from the video said as the sound of the police sirens started playing as the public started running away
'OH SHIT COPS ! KANEDA WE'RE GETTING THE HELL OUT OF HERE !'-Shinji from the recording said as the man holding the camera started running and the video finished . Rei just smiled as she opened another video. It was not a racing video as it was probably recorded by someone else . It showed Shinji and two other boys as they were taking gasoline out of a car.
'You're recording Kaisuke ?'-Shinji asked as from behind the camera came 'yep'
'So we made this Molotow Cocktail and we're gonna test it on this Clown motorbike'-Shinji from the recording said as Kaneda lit up the cloth piece that was in the bottle . Shinji took another bottle with fuel and lit it up.
'Tetsuo are you finished with the last bottle ?'-Shinji asked as Tetsuo handed him the last bottle
'yep we are done'-Tetsuo said as he standed in front of the camera
'Ok , we count to 3, are you ready ?'-Kaneda said as they took the bottles
'Ready'-Shinji said as they took the bottles and aimed at the motorbike
'Ok now : 3 , 2 , 1 !'-Kaneda screamed as they started throwing the bottles at the motorbike . As the bottles crashed into the bike it didn't give the effect they wanted.
'And what ? it didn't burn'-Kaneda said as he looked at Tetsuo
'Why are you looking at me ?'-Tetsuo asked
'You took some weak juice !'-Kaneda said with an accusatory tone
'Hey it was a proper 98% gasoline ! It would take the girls from our orphanage 4 days of giving ass to fuel it up the cork legally !'-Tetsuo said before the bike finally exploded . As the bike exploded the boys put their hands over their faces to cover it from the explosion .
'Holy shit'-Kaisuke said from behind the camera as they were paralized observing the burning bike. Before they heard police sirens
'HOLY SHIT KAISUKE TURN IT OFF ! WE'RE GETTING OUT OF HERE !'-Shinji screamed as the video finished . Rei just giggled as she observed her brother's scared face. Even if it was against the law she noticed that he had fun . Rei closed the laptop as she took a look at Shinji's stuff in the sports bag. Alongside Shinji's bike clothes, spare plugsuit and his trusty spare A-10 headset . There was his Iphone and NTT docomo public phone card there was his notebook with information he collected during his search for Takuro Hiei. Rei packed the things back in the bag and made her way to the Geofront Hospital . Misato was standing next to the door .
"Hello Captain"-Rei said as Misato noticed the blue haired girl
"Hey Rei"-Misato said as tried to hide a worried expression . It was the first time she heard Shinji screaming
5 HOURS AGO
"Highway to the Danger Zone"-Shinji was singing as he was making his way in the Eva to the launchpad. Misato and the bridge crew were making last checks before the launch in terminal
"Are we good to go ?"-Shinji asked as Misato showed him a thumbs up
"Well then . Unit 01 Launch !"-Shinji screamed as the Eva made its way to the surface . As Shinji go the surface Ramiel noticed him and shot a giant laser straight to Eva 01's chest
"AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" -Shinji screamed as he felt his body being pierced through .
"Get the Eva 01 back !"-Misato screamed as Eva 01 flew down the elevator back to the launchpad. It was the last thing Shinji saw before he passed out .

"Relax Rei , your brother is being treated by our best doctors . I need you now to take care of him .two of MAGI said that my plan to kill the Angel will be successful . We have 9 hours to kill that son of a bitch . Shinji should be out in an hour, i will head over to Central Dogma to fasten the whole plan to the last button"-Misato said as she left Rei next to the door leading to his hospital room. Rei tried to keep herself occupied with Shinji's SDAT as the track #14 started playing

As the song faded away Rei took off the earbuds and turned his SDAT off putting it in his sports bag . She enjoyed the sound of 90s eurobeat as she started noticing a pattern in his music choice. That almost every song talks about relationships between Men and Women . Rei knew that her brother loved her . But those songs talk about other meaning of love . That other relationship . Not platonic but fully romantic one . Rei started thinking about that . Shinji told her that he never had a girlfriend . He always said that he never needed one . Rei thought about it as she started getting worried 'does this mean that my brother feels lonely ?'-Rei thought as the door opened she saw a doctor leaving Shinji's room .
"You can come in"-The doctor said as she made her way . Rei decided to enter the room as she noticed Shinji sleeping in the hospital bed. Rei sat on a chair next to the bed as she observed her sleeping brother . Curiocity again took Rei as she put her ear to his chest . She started hearing his heartbeat . Slow and steady beating made Rei feeling happy that her brother was alive and well . Rei just observed her brother for the next 5 hours . Shinji was gently huffling as Rei just kept looking at him . No words and no sounds except the sounds of hospital equipment . As Shinji finally woke up he noticed Rei . Before he could say something he was embraced by her . As Shinji was trying to say something he finally spit out the words
"R-Rei let go , i'm choking"-Shinji said as Rei finally let go of him.
"Am I doing it wrong ?"-Rei asked as Shinji noticed that he was standing on thin ice
"N-No ! You should just hug them more gently . But thanks for the hug anyways"-Shinji said as he smiled at her .
"So that floating son of a bitch won round 1 , but the night is still young Rei . The HS doesn't give up that easily . You hear that octahedron ? Next time me and one-chan will see you you are dead"-Shinji said as Rei gave him his plugsuit and A-10 clips alongside the plan of ,,Operation Yashima"
"I already transported the positron cannon , we will need to get moving"- Rei said as Shinji took out his bikewear . Before he wanted to ask Rei to leave he remembered that he left her something
"Hey Rei , can I have my goggles back ?"-Shinji asked as Rei handed him his goggles.
"Well sis , we will have work together"-Shinji said as he showed her a thumbs up
"brother ?"-Rei asked him as a puzzled expression came on Shinji's face
"Yes ?"-Shinji asked as Rei observed the hospital bed
"You're naked"-Rei said as Shinji finally realized that as he tried to cover himself up with his bedsheets
"Rei , I'm sorry that I lied. It was supposed to be quick . I definitely was not expecting that it would put up a fight "-Shinji said as he looked upon Rei
"It's ok brother , I said that I will protect you . And I will keep this promise"-Rei said as she made her way out of the room so that Shinji could change into his clothes . As he put on his jacket he thought 'Well Well you giant floating blue geometrical shape , now you have to Evas to deal with'-As Shinji smirked and lit a cigarette as the SDAT started playing track #16 of the Megamix #1 started playing
