Chapter 9 : Ramiel part 2 - Shinji

"So that's the plan ? We are gonna use this giant Kamehameha laser gun to pierce through this thing floating over there ?"-Shinji asked as he was putting the cannon on the platform.

"I wouldn't call it the Kamehameha . More like the Satellite Cannon from Gundam X , but that's not important right now , now get out and head for the last debrief"-Misato said as Shinji rested the Eva in the mockup cage and put out the entry plug . As Shinji got out from the entry plug the nice and warm summer wind started to cover Shinji's body . Shinji made his way to the meeting point as he put on his SDAT earbuds and the track #17 started playing

As the song wrapped up Shinji finally reached the meeting spot. Shinji noticed that Rei was still in her school uniform and Misato was dressed up in her red jacket standing alongside Ritsuko .

"You could take a shower"-Misato said as Shinji took out a cigarette and lit it up

"We will gonna bath in LCL anyways , so it's not necessary for now"-Shinji said as he inhaled another wave of smoke

"So we trust the fate of the world into that gun ? You said it wasn't tested yet"-Shinji said as he looked upon Misato

"Yes , we don't know if the barrel and accelerators will survive , we will know when we fire the first shot , since it hasn't been used with so much energy. I assigned shooting to Shinji since he is better synchronized with his Eva . Rei will be covering the Eva 01 . Do you understand ?"-Misato asked them

"And remember to shoot directly in the core , do you understand everything ?"-Ritsuko said as she looked upon the pilots

"Yes mam"-The sibling duo replied in sync as they both made their way to the changing room .Rei was taking a shower as Shinji again put on his SDAT earbuds as the track #18 started playing

Another song finished as Shinji noticed that Rei finally got out of the shower . Of course he wasn't such a perv to spy on his own sister . Even if his rich Doujin collection hidden in his Neogoyan apartment proved otherwise. As Shinji heard the ,click" of the plugsuit sliding on Rei's body he moved the tarpaulin that separated the mobile changing room . After that they made their way to the mockup cage before they sat next to their Evas and observed the night sky. Before Shinji asked the question he wanted to ask for a long time

"Sis ? Why do you pilot the Eva ?" - Shinji asked as he looked upon her pale face

"It connects me with humanity"-Rei said as Shinji just looked upon her puzzled

"Eh ?"-Shinji asked since someone raised on the streets like him cared little to less about others except close friends

"I have nothing except the Eva and you . I saw you almost die today , I won't allow it to happen again . Because i will protect you"-Rei said as she got up and rested on the guardrail

"We have to get in , goodbye"-Rei said as they both got in their entry plugs. As minutes passed the Evas were standing on their stations so that they were ready before hour 0. As the hour 23:59 came to the NERV field center that was making final preparations

"Shinji , we are giving you the energy of our entire country"-Misato said as the Positron Cannon was finally online and the millions of taxpayer yen was operational

"Load the ammo"-said Makoto as Shinji followed the procedure . As final seconds were coming to the close Ramiel's energy jumped as the octahedron was preparing to fire its own laser

"FIRE !"-Misato screamed as Shinji pressed the trigger as the giant wave of positrons flew intact before Ramiel defended itself with its own laser . As the tidal wave hit the Eva Shinji was clinging on to the controls before he could see that his goggles began to shatter .

"He missed ?!"-Misato said as she couldn't believe that her plan could fail . But the battle was not finished yet

"Reload !"-Makoto said as Shinji again followed the procedure as the barrel was being cooled

"I detected another energy spike !"-Maya said before Ramiel fired another laser . As it was supposed to hit Shinji Rei jumped in front of them

"REI!!!!!!!!!!"-Shinji screamed as he saw the armor of Unit 00 melting as the crew of the command center started to panic

"The shield is melting !"-Ritsuko screamed as if the laser got though the shield and the Eva 00 than they only could do their last prays before death

"How much time do we have ?!"-Misato screamed as she was desperate for the answer

"10 seconds !"-Makoto said as meanwhile Shinji was focusing on targeting Ramiel thinking only 'notagainnitagainnotagainnotagainNOTAGAIN!'

"There !"-Shinji screamed as from behind the shattered goggles he noticed that the computer finally targeted Ramiel as he fired another shot piercing the octahedron as the sound of praise came from the coms . As Ramiel fell down on the ground Shinji tore down the entry plug protection armor before he took out the entry plug and gently put it down. Before he opened his plug and slid down the plug ladder . After his feet touched the ground he ran to Rei's plug . His hands touched the rotary lock as the gigantic heat hit his hands . But Shinji couldn't feel it as he was only focused on saving Rei . as the the door opened he dashed in

"REI ! ARE YOU OK ?!"-Shinji screamed as Rei opened her eyes . As she noticed her brother's smile before he broke down to tears and embraced her . When Rei put her hands over his shoulders while Shinji sobbed in her arm. few minutes passed before Shinji finally got off her

"Please never say goodbye before walking away . Please ?"-Shinji said from behind his shattered goggles

"Ok"-Rei said as she smiled before Shinji took her out of the entry plug before he carried her to the VTOL that was waiting for them with Misato taking Rei from him. As the VTOL left the ground Misato gave Shinji UCC coffee . Perfectly ice cold as he liked it

"Thanks"-Shinji said as Misato was holding sleeping Rei

"You have burns on your hands , and you still opened it"-Misato said as Shinji gently stroked Rei's cheek.

"I have only her as a biological family, i need to protect her at all cost"-Shinji said as he looked upon Misato

"What about your father ?"-Misato asked as Shinji face looked like he stepped on a Lego brick

"He stopped being one 11 years ago , he is not even a human being in my opinion . He is human trash for me"-Shinji said as he put on his SDAT earbuds as the track #19 started playing

As the song wrapped up they finally reached The Geofront . Misato took Rei to the apartment as Shinji took a shower in the NERV bath house. After that he dressed in his bike wear and took his backpack . After that he made his way to the Geofront parking lot . He entered the code and his bike finally showed up and he made his way to the surface as his bike was begging to go on streets . After he finally reached the surface he revved his bike and speeded off to the streets as the track #20 on his SDAT started playing .

As Shinji finally entered the apartment he noticed Misato eating takeout .

"Hey"-Misato said as Shinji took off his shoes .

"Hey , sorry about not making dinner . I had to get my stuff , Rei is sleeping ?"-Shinji asked as he took out an instant ramen out of the fridge and started heating up the water .

"Yeah , she woke up for a bit to change into her home clothes . After that she went to sleep"-Misato said as Shinji sat in front of her eating his instant Ramen . After eating down the cup he threw it into the trashcan and made his way to his room . Before he went to sleep he opened his laptop and finally opened the search bar and entered ,Matsuo Yuu '' as the results showed up he opened the images . He saw some photos that looked like they were made from a potato . From the facial perspective he wasn't scary . Typical japanese ,eternal student" . It was his bike that scared him . The Aprilia RSV 1000R . Even the Aprilia that he raced in Neogoya was just originally an empty piece of junk with no engine and he had to put in the Honda VTEC engine to somehow make it work . This was the real deal . And he didn't even know how it was customized . Shinji Ikari probably now had his biggest obstacle in his career . Shinji decided to just sleep it off . Since school was canceled tomorrow he could finally sleep like a baby . Shinji woke up as he heard "DAMN IT !" from the living room . Not even changing he simply made his way to the living room

"Hey Misato what's goi"-Shinji couldn't finish as he was interrupted by Misato

"Those ungrateful bastards ! Have you seen this Shinji !? They want to replace us !"-Misato screamed as Shinji sat next to her before being joined by Rei who also just woke up .

'The new robot , the Jet Alone is supposed to replace the Evangelion units and become the leading machine against the angels sin'-The news lady couldn't finish as Misato changed the channel to the wedding raport

"See !? YOU ALMOST DIED 3 FUCKING TIMES AND THOSE TIES WANT TO REPLACE YOU WITH A GIANT NUCLEAR POWERED DOLL !!"-Misato screamed as Shinji put his hands over Rei's ears. Shinji finally made cyclops toasts some rice and salmon fillets. Shinji ate up and washed the dishes . Shinji finally made his way to the mailbox as he opened it and a big smile came on his face . Another chapter of NEWTYPE magazine came as Shinji changed the subscription so that the new magazine numbers came to Tokyo 3 . Shinji returned to the apartment as he sat on a chair taking another dive in new anime news as he put on his SDAT earbuds and the track #20 started playing

As the song wrapped up Shinji remembered something he was supposed to do today

"Ah shit i forgot , i'm going to the biker store to get new goggles"-Shinji said as he threw his old shattered ones to the trashcan and left the apartment . Rei noticed it and silently took out the goggles out of the trashcan and she washed them in a sink , after that Rei took them and snuggled them closely to her chest smiling

A/N :Well then 2:1 for Shinji ! Ramiel is defeated and Shinji finally begins his case on Matsuo Yuu. But before he will be able to start it , a ,Nuclear Powered Doll" will try to stop him . And after Shinji deals with Yuu, Asuka finally strikes !
