"Minky, minky, minky, minky, minky, minky, minky momo!" Brad sings out while riding his bicycle to school. "The minky momo is an attitude. The minky momo is a mellow mood. You're momo when you're drinking lemonade. You're momo soaking in a marinade. I know you're minky, cause I'm momo too. So I know what you're going through," He uses his foot to skid to a stop. "But there's no mo'momo whenever I...get...close...to...you!" He comes to a stop right in front of his friends. Amy is hugging her books to her chest, both of them staring at him weirdly. "Man, I hate that song!"
"So then why sing it if you don't like it?" Amy raises a brow.
"What's that noise coming out of your throat?" Jenny wonders and the brunette chortles out loud, covering her mouth and giggling while Brad glares at her. "Are you sick or something?"
"Ha ha," Amy laughs again at her question. "Oh, Jen, you just made a Monday great!"
"No, it's that Minky Momo song. I heard it on the radio and I can't get it out of my head!" He hits his knuckles against his head.
"So then just don't think about it. I've heard that song from my sisters so many times that I just tune it out," Amy rolls her eyes to the back of her head.
"Don't you remember that one-hit wonder from six years ago?" Brad wonders to Jenny.
"Hardly," She shrugs with a small smile. "I was only built five years ago."
"That's right," He rubs his chin. "I forgot, you're only five years old. Wow."
"Huh. Weird how you're only five, and yet you're built as a teenage girl..." Amy murmurs in thought.
"So you don't remember the blizzard of '24."
"Nope," She smiles and Vice Principal Rizinsky just happens to overhear their conversation.
"Or the alpha centauri landing?"
"Nope."
"A five-year-old?" The man murmurs, his eyes widening. "A five-year-old in high school?!" He takes out a walkie-talkie. "Anaconda to HQ. Anaconda to HQ. We have a code Omega. Repeat, code Omega!"
"Super Bowl 100?" Brad continues quizzing Jenny.
"Nope."
"Neptune Olympics."
"Nope."
"As interesting as this all is, we've gotta get to cl-"
Sirens interrupt Amy and they freeze as they get closer. Suddenly, a bunch of cars surround the trio. "Remain where you are! Do not make any sudden movements!" They turn around to see some truant officers standing behind them.
"What'd you do?" Amy whispers to Jenny in a panic, who just shrugs helplessly. Both of them certainly didn't do anything to warrant this kind of attention. "Brad, if there's something you're not telling me, you better admit it right now!"
"What are you talking about? This isn't about me!" He protests to her.
"Step away from the toddler, children," One of them speaks from a megaphone.
"Toddler? What todd-"
One of them jumps Brad and Amy looks at them open-mouthed. "Try and remain calm," The first one speaks up to the girls. "We'll have you in the proper school in a matter of minutes."
"Okay, we don't need the this," Amy pushes away the megaphone. "Can't you just explain what's going on?" Another officer tries to jump her, but she ducks, glancing back. "Don't try to tackle a former wide-receiver," She warns him, hands on her hips.
"But this is my school," Jenny informs the officer, only to be grabbed by two buff men and dragged away.
"Don't you worry about that, little girl. We're taking you to a place that's all cotton candy."
"Yeah, nothing but cotton candy clouds and the cookies yous can eat." They put her in the back of a truck.
"Wait a minute!" Amy protests, running up to them. "She's not even the height of a toddler, she's built like a teenager!"
"Step aside, ma'am," One of them stands in front of her and she flinches briefly. "This is all just a misunderstanding."
"I'm not scared of you," She points up at him.
"But I don't eat," Jenny blinks before the door shuts on her.
"Where are they taking her?" Brad wonders to the vice principal.
"Where her kind belong. Kindergarten!" The truck is revealed to be in the likeness of a dog as it drives away.
"Kindergarten?!" Brad and Amy say in unison.
"Jenny, don't worry!" The boy calls out to her. "We'll call Wakeman! We'll get this straightened out!"
"Just hang in there!" Amy adds in, frowning at Brad. He gives a worried look as well. She then smiles as she forms an idea, taking out her phone and calling someone.
In kindergarten, all the kids are playing with toys or painting. The teacher smiles before Jenny steps in.
"Uh, I was told to give you this, but I think there's been some mistake," Jenny hands a paper to the teacher. "They said you were gonna be my new teacher. But that can't be right. I mean...what is this, kindergarten? I'm a teenager. I belong in high school."
"But high school is for much older children, dear. According to this, you're only five years old."
"Yes, I was 'made' five years ago," Jenny uses quotation marks. "But I was designed as a teenager. I belong with other teenagers...in high school."
"Oh," The teacher just chuckles at her. "I've seen your kind before. In such a hurry to be all grown up. But you have to learn to crawl before you can walk, sweetie," She pinches Jenny's chin.
"But that's just it," Jenny moves her head away in annoyance. "I don't. Look," She moves her feet, walking around. "Never crawled. Walking just fine. Obviously, I don't belong here."
"Perhaps. But only very special achievers are promoted to higher grade levels."
"Well, how special are we talking about?" Jenny places her hands on her hips. Wheels appear on her feet. "As special as this?" She skates around the room. "Or how about this?" She then makes her legs look like spider legs, walking back to the door. She then flies up as a helicopter. "This special enough for you?"
"No, no, no, my dear," The teacher pulls her down gently. "The walking/crawling thing was just a metaphor. No, what we need to see is special achievement in the classroom. If you're as advanced for your age as you claim, I'm sure it'll be become apparent in no time." Jenny sits down uncomfortably since her legs are too long for the desk. "Class, we have a new student. Please say hello to Jenny."
"She's...she's all metal-y!" A boy points to her and the kids start laughing. She gives a blank look.
"Yeah, yuk it up, peewee," Jenny grumbles at this. "I'm about to special achieve my way out of this playpen."
"She's a robot! She's cool!" A familiar voice speaks up and Jenny blinks, glancing behind her to see Piri standing up. "She's got all these awesome gadgets and stuff!"
"Piri, sit down," The teacher warns her and she pouts, doing so.
"Jen?" Amy knocks and peeks into the door, the robot beaming.
"Amy! You're a lifesaver!" She runs up to the girl, hugging her. "You've got Mom with you, right? Right?"
"Well, no...Brad has to wait until after school is over to contact her. He can't skip class, and there's no one we can call to go get her. So you'll have to stay the whole day before we figure this out. But I swear, he'll do it!"
"So then why are you here? Don't you have school too?" Jenny raises a brow at her.
"I did, but then I called here and had Piri do her thing so that I can be with her for the whole day with permission from Razinski," She winks at her sister, who winks back. Piri had thrown a temper tantrum on cue when she overheard the teacher telling her sister that she was performing well. So then the teacher requested the vice principal to have Amy come over to 'calm her sister down' for the day, since their parents are too busy working to leave and deal with it themselves. That way, Amy can help out Jenny and also try to convince the teacher of the situation.
"Oh thank goodness, you're here for Piri. You are her...um...oldest sister?" The teacher hesitates to say that since the last time Amy came over, it was as Aaron.
"Yup, that's me."
"Well, since you're here, you can be my helper. Though I might have to call your parents the next time Piri asks to call you or your other sisters," The teacher gives Piri a suspicious look, and she gives a sheepish smile. "Alright class, eyes front for the alphabet," The teacher gestures for Amy to sit down next to her chair. "Now, this is the letter M. Anyone know a word that starts with M?"
"Oh, brother," Jenny whispers to herself at the easiness, raising her hand.
Another girl raises her hand. "Yes, Amber?"
"Mommy!"
"That's right, Amber," The teacher says, the little girl smiling. Amy gives out a 'psh' at this, wondering if this is really what they're teaching her sister when she knows business stuff...
Jenny gives a wide-eyed look and then looks annoyed, putting down her hand. "Now, this is the letter K. Anyone know a word that begins with the K sound?" Jenny waves her hand, trying to make sure that the teacher notices her. "How about you, Kevin?" The boy right next to Jenny, who didn't raise his hand, flinches. "Do you know a word that begins with K?"
"Uh, Kevin?"
"Correct, Kevin!" The teacher smiles and Amy pinches her nose, sighing. "This is the letter O. Who knows a word which begins with an O?" Jenny literally makes herself a siren to try and get noticed. Amy is about to speak up when the teacher beats her to it. "How about...Gerald?"
Jenny groans at this, frowning. She was never gonna get out of here if she couldn't participate...
"Uh...mm..." Jenny looks down at him, getting annoyed as he couldn't come up with anything. "Uh...um...uh..." She shakes in anger, wanting her own turn so that she can prove that she doesn't need to be here. "Uh..."
"O! Oak, oat, oath, oboe, obey, only, oblige, obscure, observe, odor, octagon, outrigger, ovation, oven, onomatopoeia, onset, overdrive, oncology, onion, otter, ought, ounce, osmosis, ottoman, ostrich, optical, orangutan, obtuse. In your face," She points right at Gerald and Amy bites her lip, the teacher flabbergasted. Gerald then starts crying and Amy rubs a temple. Jenny just scoffs at this. "What a baby..."
"Jenny! Would you please come here?" The teacher waves her forward.
"Finally. I'm so out of here," Jenny stands up. "See you babies later. No offense, Piri."
Piri huffs, crossing her arms. "I will remember this...!" She points creepily at Jenny and Amy's eyes widen.
"Amelia, you too."
"Oh great, I'm not only gonna have to deal with a stubborn little sister, but now I gotta talk to the teacher over what you did..." Amy grumbles as she stands up, walking over.
"I told you I don't belong here," Jenny states to the teacher.
"I should say not. You have a long way to go just to catch up to the rest of the class." Jenny's eyes widen at this. After all of that, the teacher didn't recognize her knowledge... "You haven't even learned the very first rule of kindergarten. It's not about who's right or wrong; it's trying our best to get along."
"While not a bad rule, it's very understandable, ma'am...but Jenny is a robot, so any word that you ask for, she already knows," Amy steps up, gesturing to Jenny. "She's been a teenage robot for 5 years and only started attending school just recently. She doesn't know the proper way of kindergarten because she's never experienced it."
"Well, maybe the next exercise will help," The teacher suggests, the two girls glancing at each other with blank looks. It's like the woman doesn't even understand what they're both trying to say...Amy could understand the teacher being mad that Jenny isn't being that kind to the kids, but she just wants to leave... "Okay class, it's make-believe time. Let's break into our play groups."
The kids run off to the carpet to gather in circles. "Jenny, you can join Amber's group. And Amy, you can make sure your sister's playing by the rules, as she should be."
Piri pouts that the teacher doubts her, she doesn't have the same problems that Jenny does...mostly.
"So...what are we making believe?" Jenny wonders, trying to be nicer once she sits down.
"We're playing house," Amber states with her hands on her hips. "I'm the mommy, and Kevin is the daddy." Kevin blushes a bit at the role he got. "Gerald can be the smelly uncle. And Alex can be the pool boy."
"Who should I be?" Jenny asks with a small smile.
"You? You can be the dog," Amber waves her off.
"The dog?" Jenny raises a brow. "I'm not gonna be the dog. Amy, Amber's making me the dog!" She whines just like a little kid, pointing at Amber. The girl in question gives Jenny a weird look.
"...What," Amy blinks, a little baffled by this. Suddenly she feels more like a parent than she does Jenny's best friend. It was really weird...
"And I don't wanna be the pool boy," Alex chimes in. "I'll be the robot. Doot! Doot! Danger! Danger!"
"The robot?" Jenny looks a little annoyed. "Hey, if anyone's gonna be the robot, it should be me!"
"How can you be the robot when you're the doggy?" Amber asks her in confusion.
"But I actually am a robot," Jenny gestures to herself in protest.
"I am an actual robot," Alex continues in the robotic voice, walking around in a robotic way. "Zoop! Zoop! Zeep! Reet! Zeep! Rrrt!" He starts doing a robot dance, Amy chuckling a bit.
"But-but-but I am the robot," Jenny stammers, gesturing to herself.
"I am the robot," Alex sings as somehow, they start doing a song as he dances robotically. "I am the robot."
"You are the robot," The kids sing along. "You are the robot."
"But-but-but..." Jenny looks up at the teacher, who is now joining in on it.
"You are the robot. You are the robot."
"But-but-but-but..." The actual robot looks down at Gerald, who claps along with the music. "But-but I am the robot."
"You are the robot. Ooh! Ooh!" The kids all throw up their hands, Piri going along with it and Amy chuckling. "You are the robot. Ooh! Ooh! You are the robot. Ooh! Ooh!"
Jenny glares at this; not only was he mocking robots, she was getting frustrated with the song. "This is so...STUPID!"
All the kids gasp and Amber points at her. "She said the s word."
Alex's lip quivers and he runs off crying. Jenny places a hand in front of her mouth; she didn't mean to make him cry. Amy drags a hand down her face. "Jen..." She mutters in disbelief; her friend's only making this worse on herself at this point...
"That's a time-out, young lady," The teacher grasps Jenny's ponytail, dragging her away. "Come with me. I am very disappointed in you, Jennifer."
"But...I am the robot," She pouts down at the teacher.
"Well, you're certainly not advanced placement material. In fact, you may even need to be let back a year to preschool."
"What?!" Jenny protests at this. "But I'm-" The school bell rings and all the kids run outside past the two. The teacher leads Jenny outside, her arms crossed.
"Maybe you just need a break," She suggests, turning to the robot. "Let's see how you interact with others on the playground."
Amy walks up to her and Jenny grasps her arms tightly. "Amy, you've gotta save me!"
"Just a few more hours," She assures her friend, pushing her off. "Just...don't do anything that'll get into trouble this time, okay? You're already deep enough as it is...I'll try and talk things out. Maybe just keep to yourself?"
They watch Jenny walk out into the playground as people play with the jungle gym, the swings, a pile of mud, and other things. As soon as Jenny steps in, it's silence, every single kid except Piri glaring at her. Mostly because of what happened earlier... Some kids stop in mid-swing and three girls stop in mid jump rope. She glances at the teacher, who doesn't look too happy either as she raises a brow. Jenny continues walking and everything continues, but no one says anything. Alex glares at her and then tosses the ball, which hits her in the back of the head. She turns around and glares at the boy, who catches the ball. He grows a devious smirk on his face.
Jenny is about to react when she notices the teacher's narrowing eyes. She stomachs it and then approaches the kids on the swings. "Hey, guys. That looks like fun. Can I call next?"
"You're-"
"Too-"
"Big."
"Don't-"
"Be-"
"Stupid."
The same ball hits her in the back of the head. She walks up to some boys at the jungle gym, waving to them. "Hey, dudes. Can I play jungle gym with you?"
"You don't 'play' jungle gym," Kevin retorts back.
"You play on a jungle gym," Another boy adds in.
"Yeah, don't be stupid."
The same ball hits her again. Amy turns to the teacher, who gestures to her in protest, but she says and does nothing. "Hey, how about some twosies?" Jenny asks the girls with the rope.
"Sorry, we don't jump twosies," Amber disregards her.
"Twosies are for babies."
"Stupid babies."
Once again, the ball hits her in the head.
"Oh, come on!" Amy whispers in disbelief; she needed to talk to the board or something after today about this...
"Piri," Jenny smiles at the little girl playing hopscotch. "Can I have a turn?"
"Sure-"
"Piri, you don't wanna play with her," Amber grabs her hand, pulling her away. "Come jump rope with us."
"Um, okay," Piri gives an apologetic look to Jenny, who walks off with a frown.
"What about you?" Jenny looms over Gerald playing in the mud. "I suppose there's not enough room in your mud pie factory for two."
He holds it out to her and she smiles, taking it from him...but then the ball hits her and her face gets hit with the mud. She looks up with mud dripping down her face and all the kids laugh at her except Piri, who frowns. She glances at everyone pointing and laughing directed at her, even Gerald.
"Okay," She glares in anger. "You guys wanna play hard ball?" She gets so steamed that the mud literally melts off her face. "I'll play hardball," She grasps the ball Alex threw and Piri cringes, making a run for it. She hugs Amy's legs, glancing back at the robot.
"Jenny, don't!" Amy warns her, but it's too late.
She slides the ball around her arms, extending herself to be a ball launcher, to the awe of the kids. Jenny shoots the ball into her cannon and then fires it. It hits Alex and then a girl nearby, both of them falling onto the grass. The ball goes back to Jenny, whose arms are long and straight. She spins them around and fires the ball at a kid from the jungle gym.
Piri shoots up and runs in mid-air before disappearing into the classroom. "Jen!" Amy calls out, but the robot doesn't listen. The other kids on the jungle gym get hit, knocking them onto the ground. Once the ball goes back to Jenny, it rolls around a slide mechanism she has prepared. It goes flying off to the swing area, knocking out all three girls one by one off the swings. She catches the ball, turning around to the other on-looking kids on the playground. She tosses the ball and in one shot, knocks all of them out. She catches the ball one last time with a smile...and then flinches as she sees every single kid...well, the playground looks like a graveyard now...
She then looks to the teacher, who looks VERY angry. Amy places a hand over her face, shaking her head. "Uh-oh..."
"Well!" The teacher places her hands on her hips. "I've seen more than enough. Advanced placement! You don't belong in school at all!" Jenny frowns, looking at the grass. "You may have damaged these children permanently." The whole class gathers around to join her. "Class, what do we say when someone can't get along and doesn't belong?"
"COOL!" They all exclaim, shocking both the teacher and Amy.
"What? No, class, that's not-" They run past her, crowding around her like a fan club.
"Jenny! Jenny!"
"Are you a superhero in real life?"
"Do you have a sidekick?"
"I do have a sidekick, and she's the best," Jenny smiles and Amy grins. "Her name's Ms. Mecha."
"Miss Binky, can Super Jenny read to us at story time?" A girl looks up at the teacher.
"Well, class, I'm not sure that would be-"
Somehow, they manage to carry Jenny altogether, carrying her away happily. Once they pass Amy, the two girls share a high-five.
"And that's how the leopard got his spots," Jenny finishes the book. "The end," She looks up to see that every kid is asleep on their mats. "Wow," She smiles at them. "They look so harmless when they're asleep."
"You did a very good job with story time, Jenny," Ms. Binky approaches her, patting her back. "Don't you want to take a nap until the rest of the class?"
"Me?" Jenny gestures to herself, chuckling. "I'm a high school student. A nap in the middle of the day? Sounds...pretty good."
Amy smiles at her friend, patting her back. "Go ahead, Jen. And then-"
"Amy...goodnight," Jenny yawns, interrupting her as she lays down. "This kindergarten stuff isn't all bad. Easier than high school. Might be nice to hang here for a while..." She then falls asleep, feeling content with this temporary placement as Ms. Binky turns off the lights. Suddenly, a few seconds later, Dr. Wakeman slams open the door.
"Error! Error!"
All the kids gasp awake, looking up at her. "Mother!" Jenny sits up in surprise.
"There has been an error in the educational system," She walks up to Ms. Binky, Amy shaking her head at the woman. That's what she wanted to remind Jenny; she was gonna check up on how everything was going on getting her OUT of preschool. "As these diagrams illustrate, XJ9 was made five years ago, but she was designed as a teenager," She shows the teacher a flipbook of Jenny's creation, then showing Jenny listening to music in her room. And that's apparently enough to convince the teacher...
"Hmm, I see. Well, in that case, you can go."
"What?" Jenny asks in confusion. "But that's exactly what I said!"
"So did I!" Amy gestures to herself in protest.
"Yes, dear, but you didn't have diagrams." The brunette opens her mouth in disbelief. "Now, don't you think you and your friend should be going?" The two guys from before step up from behind her.
"Uh, I guess..."
"Jenny?" Alex looks up at her sadly. "Are you going away, Super Jenny?"
"Bye bye, Jenny," Kevin says as they hug her legs.
"We love you, Super Jenny."
"We'll miss you."
"It was fun having you in my class..." Piri adds in with a frown.
"Oh, kids," Jenny frowns down at them and Amy touches her chest, trying not to cry at how touching this was. She bends down and hugs them all. "I'll miss you too!" Her legs are grabbed and then she's dragged away. "No! Stop! Wait! I changed my mind! I don't wanna go! I wanna stay! I'm only five years old."
Amy walks after her with a sigh, the robot girl sobbing. "Bye Piri, see you at home," She waves to her little sister, who waves back.
"Man, what a baby," Kevin comments to Gerald.
Jenny cries on Amy's couch, hugging her legs. Her head is resting on Amy's head, the girl patting her pigtails while watching TV. "I miss them, Amy..."
"I know, Jen. Claudia and Emily were like this too when they finished preschool," She says soothingly. "But...as they say, we have to live with it and...go on with our normal lives. Which sucks because we have a math test tomorrow," She gives a blank look at the reminder.
"I don't wanna do the math test...!" Jenny sobs out and Amy sighs at her answer.
"You and me both, Jen...you and me both."
Angel: Can I just say that after watching this show three times, the teacher REALLY gets on my nerves...literally does NOTHING to help Jenny out the entire episode, not even with the ball or with Jenny's knowledge, that's just unrealistic to me.
Also, this one's shorter than the other ones because...well, preschool. Not much you can do with it...
Full disclosure, to those who are commenting about the Sonic sequel on my other stories, it was released in theaters in the US, where I live, literally only today. And I'm not lying either, look up the release date for the US. Not to mention that I do have a job, so I can't see it right when it comes out. I'm not seeing it until Sunday with my friends because a, I don't want spoilers by watching it early. And b, I don't wanna watch a Sonic movie alone, I'm also hanging out with my friends who live an hour away from me. So stop mentioning to me, I know it exists, I just haven't had the chance to see it lol.
I can't watch a movie and write it if I haven't seen it yet, I'm sorry to say. Not to mention that I'm already doing a movie at this point, I don't need to add another one right this second.
