Chapter 13,5/Interval : Memories of the past

"Damn , where is he ?!"-Kei asked as she and Mari were waiting next to the alley that was 150 meters up to Shinji's apartment , just as always Neogoyan night was shining like it was a day except there was no sun and it was replaced by neons. Mari was humming one of her favorite songs . ,,Stay With Me" by Miki Matsubara .

"Maybe he is pushing his bike here . Since it's in worse condition than the whole Somalia"-Mari said before they finally saw Kaneda. His bike was still in crying condition as the disc drives were sparking with green sparks . And that the bike was more in duck-taped grey than red when Shinji last saw it . Kaneda finally got off before he turned it off

"Sorry , I had to fix the rear discs . And the battery , and taillights , And the fuel pump . And everything"-Kaneda said as took off his goggles and took down the fire stairs

"Well ladies , come on"-Kaneda said as the trio got on the stairs . It was at the fourth floor as Mari finally started a conversation

"So you have to walk like that everyday ?"-Mari asked

"Well of course , Almost every flat here has from 25 to 30 floors , and running away from cops takes some skill in running up"-Kaneda said as they continued to climb up

"Kaneda is correct , even in WILLE most of the things i walk on are the stairs, and that the city is mostly made up of skyscrapers and multi-floor complexes"-Kei said

"And probably Shinji is muscular like hell"-Mari said as Kaneda turned his head

"Well a year ago or so , one of the groupies got so drunk she tried to take Shin by the tongue , But Shin is not the person to be kissed . So Shin gave her a massive bitch slap . Kaneda said as his mind returned to that funny night

NEOGOYA 2014

"Com-me o-on Ikari , L-let me t-take yo-u to m-y ro-oom"-the girl said as she took Shinji's hand . Shinji noticed it as well as the ,,Small Party" in Kaneda's dorm room . Shinji just as always resisted going but Kaneda and Tetsuo were pushing him , not only to go party as the trio of friends . But also to help him stabilize since the death of his uncle so that they won't find a hangman in his apartment . It was just your ordinary pathological party with boogers laying around and the LED lights shining with neon colors and techno music blasting. Kaneda was still held on by Kei and Tetsuo and Kaori left for their own ,,anthics" . Shinji thought off silently retreating but he waited for the occasion. Before a girl started trying to get on him before licking his cheek, Shinji tried to play her off . But after 30 minutes of trying she still hasn't given up on trying to get Shinji inside her. And 1,5 minute ago she got Shinji off his chair . And then started to lick his cheek , Shinji felt uncomfortable but he wasn't a ,,pussy" to ask for help . But when she pushed her tongue inside Shinji's mouth it was too much . Shinji prepared his hand

Shinji slapped her in the face, sending her to the next side of the room . Kaneda and Kei who observed the situation and knew that Shinji never asked for help . Shinji took a jugged the whole unopened soda before saying

"Virginity is cool"-And runned out of the room . 3 minutes later the sound of his bike was heard across the orphanage riding off

BACK TO PRESENT

The trio finally reached the 16th floor as Kaneda noticed Shinji's room , which had lain dormant for the last few months since he left for Tokyo 3.

"Well Kaneda , crack it up"-Kei said as Kaneda took out a passkey and finally located the lock before opening it up . The group silently got in so that Kichirou people wouldn't notice. Even if Kaneda knew Shinji was a member of their organisation . They had their orders to shoot anyone that trespassed . So they should be lucky that no one bothered with the fire stairs . Kaneda lit up the lightswitch as Shinji's little nest lit up to reveal itself . Anyone that would not notice the PS2 and the Wi-Fi router would think that it is a reconstruction of a room from the late 70s to the second half of the 90s . With Tomoko Aran and Miki Matsubara posters alongside posters of vintage anime . With one side of the windowsill covered with Gunpla kits . And his two most prized things alongside his Highway Star persona . His tape collection and VHS collection . Mari took a look on few of the tapes

"Wow , Tomoko Aran , Miki Matsubara , CINDY , Noriko Mayamoto . Even some western music . Ides of march , Redbone , even AC/DC and Daft Punk ? . There are like 150 of those tapes . And all of them are original releases . Wow he took his music choices from his mom"-Mari said as Kaneda put his hand on hers stopping her from taking more tapes

"If Shin will ever find out that someone touched his tapes he would kill every clown in this city when he comes back"-Kaneda said as Mari put Shinji's tapes back to their place.

"So Shinji is a music lover ? I am surprised"-Mari asked

"Yep, ever since I met him he only sat with his walkman . Before he became the HS "-Kaneda said

NEOGOYA 2002

"oww"-4 year old Takuro Hiei said as he stabilized his broken nose and spat the rest of the blood from his mouth . He and Shinji were attacked by some punks that stole Shinji's SDAT and Takuro's lunch money . Before Takuro could think about anything he noticed Shinji grabbing his pockets and sobbing . Before he stood back up and cleared his tears

"We're gonna get our stuff back"-Shinji said

"Well , now we need to find them and somehow convince them or beat them up"-Takuro said as he cleaned up himself and tied his shoes . Shinji did the same before he touched his blackeye

"Hey !"-Someone in the distance yelled as both Takuro and Shinji turned to see also a 4-year old boy with blood soaking from under his nose . He looked like he went through a fight . It wouldn't be something weird before the boys noticed Shinji's SDAT and Takuro's money

"It's yours right ?"-the boy said as handed the SDAT back to Shinji and money to Takuro

"Thank you , but what is your name ?"-Shinji asked

"Kaneda , Shotaro Kaneda . Relax everyone gets through that here . I did help some of the other guys around here . So you are new ?"-Kaneda asked as finished introducing himself

"Yes , we were signed here and we started going here"-Shinji said as it cought Kaneda's attention

"Signed ? You are not orphans ?"-Kaneda asked as the two boys were struggling to find an answer. Since they were just 4 they did not understand how someone could not have moms or dads

"No , Shinji lives with his uncle and i live with my mom and dad"-Takuro explained

"Well it's still nice to see someone go here , well you want to play football ?"-Kaneda asked as the both boys spit out last splotches of blood . Before the duo showed a thumbs up

"Well I accept this as ok . HEY TETSUO I FOUND SOMEONE TO PLAY !"

BACK TO PRESENT

"So that's how you met"-Mari said as Kaneda looked up to the ceiling

"And we stuck for the last 10 years together , I wonder what he is doing right now ?"-Kaneda asked as he snuck out a photo album from under Shinji's futon

"KANEDA ! That is private !"-Kei said before Kaneda put a finger on her mouth

"Wait wait wait , i think i remembered something , Shin showed me this once when we were discussing family 7 years ago or so "-Kaneda said as he finally found what he was looking for . The picture labeled ,,2001 Kyoto college reunion" showed Mari Yui and Shinji resting in Mari's arms . Mari touched the photo and a little tear formed in her eye

"Wow , i has been so long ago"-Mari said as she observed the picture like it was the greatest treasure in the world

"Well we need to get going , we have 5 minutes before the Kichirou will come to check the apartment"-Kei said as the trio started to get up"-As they were ready to go , Kaneda closed the window as Mari made last check though the window thinking 'Im coming Shinji , and i will finally hug you for the last 13 years'

EPILOGUE (2 days after Gaghiel)

"Holy crap she is such a bitch !"-Toji said as the three stooges sat in their desks 'and a goddamn beauty'-Shinji thought as the scarred boy listened to the conversation

"Well she is hot but her personality is trash"-Kensuke said as the duo expected Shinji to join the trashtalk train . Her ,,Rival" did not say anything as the foreign Redhead was breaking the demisexual barrier on his mind

"Well at least we won't see her again , its Shinji's problem now"-Toji said before the mentioned problem entered the classroom and wrote its name on the board

"Soryu Asuka Langley , charmed huh ?"
