Chapter 24 : Matarael
"Ok , just screw this in , and done ! Now you can ride across the Tokyo 3 with no problem !"-Shinji said as Aimi snuggled his leg
"Thank you Shinji ! But can you give me a rundown on everything again ?"-Aimi pondered as Shinji smiled and patted her head
"Ok , now your tiny bike has a little engine from a Honda motocompo , because you meet nice people on a honda , i've installed shifters complete with a clutch and a gas tank with new little brake pads , but remember ride with a helmet"-Shinji said as Aimi again hugged his leg
"You still can impress with your speed , i was expecting that it would take you several hours but you did in less than one hour !"-Aimi said as Shinji smiled at the complement
"Well i'm still full of surprises"-Shinji said as he licked his lips as a sign of good work done
"When will you come to visit ?"-Aimi asked as Shinji looked for the answer in his mind
"To be honest i-"
"We can't , we have done too little tests this month , we take the bad boy on the abandoned Highway in Atami and we ride until we get the results we want"-Asuka said as both she and Rei left the school and stood on the school parking lot
"I wasn't asking you Soryu"-Aimi said as with a frown as both girls started each other down
"Ok , you should be leaving Aimi . Your mother is probably worried about you"-Shinji said as Aimi nodded and started the little moped
"Ok , thank you again Shinji. Aimi said and gave Shinji a quick kiss on cheek before riding away and giving Asuka a quick middle finger before riding off
"What's her problem ?"-Asuka asked with visible jealousy on her face
"Simple , poor girl is just jealous . I should pay attention to her more"-Shinji said as he grabbed the tool set and made his way back to school to put them in his locker and after that he made his way out of the school to see Asuka and Rei
"Why should she be jealous ? It's not like you are her brother or anything ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji gave her a death stare
"I was literally there since the day she was born , you can call me her older brother and it would make sense . After what happened with Takuro i think she is just sad she doesn't see me so often anymore"-Shinji said as they walked towards the geofront station
"But why doesn't she like me ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji shrugged
"The reason probably is you weren't there most of the time when many things happened , she would probably be happier if it was Mana instead of you . But she is busy playing with robotic dinosaurs"-Shinji said as Asuka frowned again
"She kinda acts like a unhappy mother that wants you to come back to your ex since she thinks that your choices in women are as bad as your superhero choices"-Asuka said as Shinji stared her down
"What do you mean ? Do you have a problem with Green Lantern ?"-Shinji asked as Asuka looked at Rei and than at Shinji
"His weakness is literally color yellow"-Asuka said as Shinji stood in front of her
"Technically it was because of Parallax inside the central battery , and remind you that Hal Jordan overcame it when he was still a rookie"-Shinji said as Asuka closed her eyes
"And remind you that the same Parallax took over him what cause him to kill everyone"
"Except Ganthet"-Shinji cutted Asuka off
"Dont cut me off , and also remind you that the same Hal Jordan had sex with a 14-year old girl"-Asuka said as Shinji remembered this dark age of comic books that should never be brought up again
"Technically we shouldnt call that pedofillia since it was with Arisia's consent . And we should blame the new writer for the changes . If I remember that quote correctly "I wouldn't be with you if you were 1000 years old" , or something like that . Besides Geoff Johns retconned that so she was 240 years old or 232 i cant remember correctly .Which is still weird since her being 28 in 14 year old body is weird enough , thank god we forgot about that , besides that kinda reminds me of something"-Shinji said as he winked at Asuka
"No , don't you dare !"-Asuka started as Shinji again turned to her
"Yes , it is kinda like you were with Kaji. I'm gonna get this straight , before meeting me if you had the chance to accelerate your age to be with Kaji i'm definitely sure you would take it , am i right or am i right ?"-Shinji said as Asuka was trying to form a counter argument
"Ok you win , maybe and i say MAYBE i would do that . But it would be risky , i wouldn't know if he returned my affections since in life writers don't change like in the American comic books"-Asuka said as both of them were snapped back to reality by Rei
"Instead of talking about american comic book characters we should probably get on the geofront elevator"-Rei said as both lovers noticed that they already reached their destination point
"Wow , we got so sucked in the conversation that we haven't noticed that we reached our destination"-Shinji said as they entered the elevator station , one of the many stations around the city . As they entered Shinji noticed something odd around , first of all the lack of people around . And the second was the complete lack of anything electrical working. To be sure, Shinji checked his phone . 'No bars , and that means all telecommunication systems are down'-Shinji was finally convinced that something was wrong when Rei slid her card and nothing happened
"Electricity is down across the whole area"-Shinji said as both girls stared him down
"It looks like the whole NERV infrastructure was sabotaged , and now we have no way to call for help , since due to generators being down all lines are dead"-Asuka said as Rei took out a booklet out of her school bag
"Ah , emergency instructions . I forgot that we are supposed to carry them"-Shinji said as both he and Asuka reached out to their bags for their own booklets
"There is a way down there , across the route number 7"-Rei said as she pointed at one of the corridors
"I wouldn't have come up with this even by myself , love ya sis"-Shinji said as he embraced Rei from the back . Rei only blushed as the trio made their way across the corridor
"What do you think caused this whole power outage ?"-Asuka asked as she grabbed Shinji's arm definitely not because she was afraid of the dark
"There is only one reason , an angel is attacking , or i think it is"-Shinji said as both girls turned their attention at Shinji
"It makes too much sense , we should make our way faster"-Asuka said as they accelerated their walk towards the main door. After several minutes of walking they found the door with a big red number 7 on it
"Here we are , and look here . a manual lever"-Shinji said he grabbed the level and started rolling it.
"Come on Shinji ! I know you have more strength than that !"-Asuka taunted him a bit before Shinji finally opened the door
"Ok , now we need to put a leader in charge of the group"-Shinji said as he both girls pointed at him
"Really ?"
"You have the most experience with crawling in dark spaces"-Rei said as Shinji than looked at Asuka
"I double that , I would be stupid if i tried to assume leadership just for the sake of my pride . And what Rei said is accurate so you should take the leadership"-Asuka said as Shinji grunted and took the booklet from Rei
"Well let's go"-Shinji said as they made their way across the dark space , as they made their way away from the door the route was getting more darker and hotter with the pipeline running next to them
"It must be very nostalgic for you brother"-Rei said as Shinji breathed the air and smiled
"Yep , it brings me back to when i crawled in the sewers with Kaneda and the rest , it was creepy the first time but after that we got used to that , since it was the best way to run if we somehow were not able to access two other ways of escaping , that means either by a bike of by rooftops and since almost on every Street in every district had a sewer cover we could quickly lose the cops since most of them were disgusted by a thought of going down the sewer , besides sewer canals were my first speed testing track"-Shinji finished his monologue as they continued walking
"You should be lucky that you haven't take me down any sewers , because you would have celibacy for a week"-Asuka said as Rei stopped
"Stop , listen"-Rei said as Shinji noticed something above them
"More like "stop listen , and look up"-Shinji said as he pointed at the light
"Oh look , it's Mr Hyouga . And it looks like you were right, Shinji , angel . Come on !"-Asuka said as Rei looked at her brother and friend
"There is a shortcut nearby"-Rei said as Shinji knew exactly what she meant
"Lemme guess , we're gonna use a vent ?"-Shinji said as Rei nodded and pointed at the vent shaft on the ground . Shinji sighed and grabbed the vent lattice before noticing two screws
"Fuck , Asuka , in my backpack i probably put one of the screw drivers by accident"-Shinji said as Asuka opened his backpack and alongside the books , his laptop and spare magazines she found a screwdriver. Shinji tried to open it up but even with being an engineering genius there is not a possibility of opening it up without the right tools
"Shit , looks like we're gonna have to do it the yankee way"-Shinji said as he threw the screwdriver back to his backpack
"Wait what do you mean the Yankee way"-Asuka asked as Shinji smiled and licked his lips
"Back up , you're gonna see"-Shinji said as Asuka took Rei's Hand and backed out a bit . Shinji licked his lips and took out his pistol

"Like i heard someone say it on 4chan , sometimes the best ideas are the most easy ones"-Shinji said as he breathed in the smoke from the barrel to his mouth and put on his backpack
"YOU COULD'VE WARNED US !"-Asuka screamed as she held her hands on her ears
"Well what you were expecting from the Yankee way ?"- Shinji said as now with ease he took out the vent shaft . Without a word entered the shaft . As they crawled Shinji felt the pressure on his ankles as it has been a long time since he last crawled through the vents . Shinji now was stuck between a panty shot of his sister and the pretty face of his girlfriend .
"I can't believe it you did that so often"-Asuka said as Rei stopped just after passing another vent shaft
"Someone will need to jump down to open another shaft"-Rei said as Shinji sighed
"Ok Rei , move a bit"-Shinji said as Rei moved and grabbed the edges of crossing vents and jumped into the vent
"GERONIMO !"-Shinji screamed as his feet Impacted the vent shaft opening before landing in front of a crossing of three corridors
"Ok jump !"-Shinji screamed as in a blink of an eye both girls fell down
"It's the last time I'm jumping like that !"-Asuka said both of them noticed the crossing paths
"Its the left door"-Rei said as Shinji looked at her and than at Asuka
"I think it's the right one , or maybe our glorious leader will decide ?"-Asuka said as she looked at Shinji who pondered a bit before a lightbulb light up in his head
"Aha ! , Eeny meeny miny moe, catch a Clown by the toe,when he squeals, let him go,eeny meeny miny moe"-Shinji finished the Neogoyan version of the famous counting-out rhyme and pointed his finger at the left door
"Really Shinji ? A children's counting rhyme ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji stuck out his tongue . As they made their way across the tunnel all of them noticed that the narrow corridor had no reflective elements and that resulted in complete lack of ability to see , Shinji could feel that both of the girls grabbed Shinji's arms presumably to be able to find themselves in the dark, as they walked towards the unknown Shinji noticed the red reflective tape
"Oh a door , I'm probably gonna regret this"-Shinji said as he opened the door and stuck his head out to see what's going on , just as he noticed that they were still on the surface a giant eye stared at him down . Shinji immediately closed the door as the girls looked at him
"So i was right , either we hurry or we're screwed"-Shinji said as Rei pointed at the corridor
"There should be a staircase around here , it will be a quick way to get underground"-Rei said as Shinji and Asuka nodded and made their way towards the staircase . As they reached the closed door Shinji took out his phone and lit up the flashlight to see the diagram of the Geofront
"It will take us a long time to get down to the Eva cages, look . If we go according to the rest of route 7 it will take us another 30 minutes , not to mention all the corridors we have left and Vent Shafts we will have to use"-Asuka said as Shinji noticed something interesting
"Asuka , does EURONERV have their own firefighter crew ?"-Shinji said as his finger went to the apparent Geofront fire station
"What do you mean ? Oh no no ! I'm not doing that ! "-Asuka said as she looked at the diagram noticing that Shinji pointed at sliding pole
"Brother is right , on the floor 54 there is a main center for the fire crew connected to the rest of the Geofront via the sliding pole system due to elevator system being turned off during the fire , if we use this sliding pole we could make ourselves a big shortcut"-Rei said as Asuka noticed that she was losing the battle . Nothing outside several grunts and an agreeing nod could be heard and seen as the trio of pilots made their way down the staircase . As they reached the floor 54 with a swift kick Shinji opened the door to one of the many corridors revealing the main firefighting center that could be called the "Fire Station" of the entire colony that the Geofront was supposed to be.
"Here we are , floor 54 . Now let's find another diagram of the pole system"-Shinji said as he took out his phone and lit up the flashlight as both girls followed soon as they started looking for the diagram
"Found it !"-Asuka said as Shinji and Rei both got close to her as both of them pointed their flashlights at the diagram
"So Rei , what floor do we have to get to via those several poles ?"-Shinji asked as Rei opened her instruction booklet to check which corridor was the correct way
"That one"-Rei said as she pointed at the pole behind her as both of them looked at the pole behind them
"Well then , let's go"-Shinji said as he took his biker gloves out of his pockets . And just as he wanted to jump he noticed Asuka's uneven face. 'Crap , looks like i'm gonna have to give her the prep talk'-Shinji thought as he took Asuka by her hand to the side
"Ok , what's wrong ?"-Shinji asked as Asuka sat on the ground , Shinji took off his backpack and sit next to Asuka
"I'm kinda afraid to jump , i know its stupid but its just this feeling of getting hurt"-Asuka said as Shinji looked at her
"Look , I know you can be afraid . But there is no other way to get fast to the eva cages . And there is a big chance that without you were gonna die so please put fear away , and just try to be fearless for a bit"-Shinji said as ceressed Asuka's cheek . Asuka just got up and grabbed Shinji by the hand
"Ok , but I have one question . How the hell have you been able to carry your backpack with you ?! Like we were crawling in vents for gott's sake !"-Asuka asked as Shinji closed his eyes
"Well , several months worth of experience inside Neogoya's giant vents taught me how crawl inside with a backpack full off documents and packages , but now i have to leave it here"-Shinji said as he gave Asuka a pair of firefighting gloves
"If you finished fighting your inner demons i would suggest we keep going"-Rei said as she also put on a pair of firefighter gloves
"Ok , and the way we GO !"-Shinji screamed as he jumped and grabbed the pole and in a blink of an eye he was sliding down though the geofront . Shinji saw several different corridors filled with many different NERV crews trying to navigate across the dark space . Shinji looked up and noticed Asuka and Rei sliding down with him as he stared. He noticed the panty shot of his girlfriend. 'Well , at least she can't call me a hentai in public for sneaking down her skirt . While she always spies me down in the shower'-Shinji thought as he remembered many interactions the two had in that room. With a giant blush on his face he returned his gaze to the corridors. After several minutes of sliding Shinji finally felt the ground under his feet as he took his hands off the pole and noticed another vent shaft. 'Aha , looks like i'm gonna have to use a gun again'-Shinji thought as he noticed that Rei and Asuka also slid down the pole as they stood beside him
"Lemmy guess , the yankee way ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji nodded and without a word Asuka backed out and covered her ears with Rei doing the same

"And i'm down to last bullet , i should've brought more magazines"-Shinji said as he took off the the vent lattice
"This should be the final vent shaft , after that we should be just one corridor away from the eva cages"-Rei said as she got inside the vent shaft with Shinji and Asuka following her.
"If we take another Vent Shaft i swear to gott i'll take a shower in the angel's acid or laser or whatever this one has"-Asuka said as Shinji grew more and more annoyed , even if he loved his girlfriend as much as he loved his loved his bike he would had to be a spineless wimp not to get annoyed
"Ah come on Asuka , feel the thrill of adventure ! Like Bruce Willis in Die Hard ! But instead of Nakatomi Plaza it's a giant military colony , i think ?"-Shinji said as he heard something under the shaft.
"I think we're here , but we somehow need to open up the nearest lattice"-Rei said as Shinji noticed that he was under it . And as any intelligent Bosozoku Shinji started to kick the lattice before falling down seeing Maya and Ritsuko
"Hey Ritsu , sorry for dropping in so suddenly"-Shinji said as he catched falling Asuka with his hands and Rei jumped next to them
"You're here ! Evas are already prepared"-Ritsuko said as Shinji looked at Unit 01
"Wait , you're telling me that all of the people here used their hands put those entry plugs inside"-Shinji asked
"It was all commanders idea"-Ritsuko said as she pointed at Gendo and the ground crew doing the best they could
"Wow the devil himself crawled out of hell and along his servants prepares his guard dogs , to be honest i was expecting him to fart in a chair"-Shinji said as he made his way to the changing room and switched his clothes for a plugsuit and his everyday wear Headset for the piloting one . After leaving the changing room he dashed to the entry plug before jumping inside and grabbing the control yokes Shinji noticed that the entry plug was closing around him and LCL was flooding the entry plug . 'Oh we're gonna have to open the cages manually , ok One-chan , Give me all you got !'-Shinji thought as his hands were already on the cage
"Pilots , open the cages ma-"
"Close your mouthhole Rokubungi i know what i'm doing !"-Shinji said as he cracked his knuckles and with all the strength that Unit 01 possessed he managed to open the cage
"Batteries plugged in"-Maya reported as Shinji noticed that the emergency power battery timer disappeared
"Ok Launch !"- Ritsuko reported as another large door opened
"Looks like another vent shaft , even the Evas have to play Bruce Willis today ?"-Shinji said as he noticed Asuka already got inside the vent presumably out of being tired of Vents. Shinji just sighed and got inside the Vent shaft with Rei following them.
"Like i said , i'm so tired of vents"-Asuka said as Shinji who was just as tired of that day did not make a snarky comment as always and just crawled along
"There is a door"-Rei said as Asuka kicked it out and all three Evangelions were now grabbing the edges of the shaft
"Time to climb !"-Shinji said as the pilot trio began the incredibly slow process of climbing up to the surface. As they climbed Rei noticed Acid on one of her pylons
"Asuka , Acid !"-Rei screamed over the comes as Unit 02 washed over with acid making her losing her grip as her Eva impacted Unit 00 and Unit 01
'ThinkfastthinkfastthinkfastthinkfastBINGO !'-Shinji thought as he used his hands to brake and managed to stop and amortize the fall with his legs. All Evas got inside one of the emergency shafts and dropped their batteries
and rifles
"It seems that the angel wants to get inside the base using this acid"-Rei deducted as Shinji who first wanted to say "Thanks captain obvious" to having a lightbulb light up in his head realizing that the Unit 01 was fueled up the cork with rocket fuel and loaded up
"All right, listen up ! I have a plan , since i have rocket engines i can fly up the shaft , someone will have to be the shield while i fly up and shower that spider with vulcan guns , after that i take out the karambite throw it at the core and the world is saved , for that i need someone to volunteer as a shield ?"-Shinji asked as a comwindow with Asuka
"This plan is stupid and so over the top , and its thanks to that i love you so gottdamn much , i'll be the shield and Rei can jump down and safegaurd us with a rifle"-Asuka said as Shinji blushed and nodded same with Rei who gave a nod of aproval
"Ok , 3 2 1 GO !"-Shinji ordered as Asuka jumped up and Rei jumped down with Shinji remaining in the shaft . As Asuka's Unit 02 laid beneath the angel the giant spider dropped its Acid , as it finally finished Asuka letted go and jumped down
"Ok Shinji , GO !"-Asuka said as Shinji jumped from the shaft and activated the boosters and flied up while opening fire from the vulcan guns and the AT field of the angel was being pierced Shinji opened one of the pylons and took out the progressive Karambite and pierced the angels core while flying out of the shaft lifting up the giant spider with him. Shinji let go of the knife and managed to land Unit 01 on the street while the Angel just became history and with big explosion of red it was gone

"That was probably our worst battle yet , but at least i got my backpack back"-Shinji said as he laid on the hill with Asuka and Rei snuggling his arms
"And you were the one to say "Feel the thrill of adventure ?""-Asuka said as they watched the sky
"The sky seems odd without lights , back home even 2:00 am wasnt fairly dark thanks to neons"-Shinji said as Rei looked at the them and than at sky
"Humans were afraid of the dark , so they chased it away with fire"-Rei said as Asuka looked at Shinji and Asuka
"That's some nice philosophie Rei , we can now finally rest for a bit . Tomorrow we go to Atami for tests and-"
"Do we have to talk about it now ?! Lets just enjoy the moment for a bit"-Asuka said as she snuggled tighter to Shinji's arm as the lights of Tokyo 3 finally lit up again
A/N : Another chapter down ! I'm sorry for another long break . School year is wrapping up and i need to focus most of my time now to get good grades to up myself a good grade. And yes , Shinji's favorite superhero is not only my own creative liberty . But also a reference to one of my favorite fics and my second favorite crossover fic.
