Chapter 26 : Switch back
"SHUT UP !"-Shotaro Kaneda said as he tried to turn off his alarm clock from under his covers. As his hand finally reached the right button the awful beeping sound finally stopped roam around his room in the orphanage. As Kaneda finally managed to get up from his bed with his covers hanging on his body he took a look across his room. 'I should clean this room'-Kaneda thought as he put the covers back on his bed . After that he made his way to the toilet. Probably the only comfort he had in this tiny room . Compared to Shinji's already small apartment he lived in a can with only light in the room aside from a small lightbulb was a window big enough for a skinny teenager to jump out. The bathroom was "Modest" to say the least. Aside from an iconic trio of a toilet , shower and sink there was nothing to be found aside from the laser rifle being hidden under one of the panels. After taking a quick shower Kaneda took out a pair of gray sweatpants and a striped white and red sweater with a pair of white sneakers and a bag of some school supplies he wouldn't use anyways. He left his room and witnessed the terrible condition of the corridor. 'At least I'm not the only one who doesn't clean'-Kaneda thought as he walked along witnessing the graffiti , broken doors and cigarette boxes on the floor. Not to mention tons of capsules laying around with bottles of cheap alcohol. It really did say about the quality of most of the boys living here. Kaneda sighed and finally got out of the orphanage he witnessed the "Beauty" of the 8th district with the tall buildings from the 1st district towering over the smaller buildings and smog with neons serving the role of artificial sun's shining across the whole Neogoya with smaller Neons across the tiny no man's land that was the 8th district shining and scaring away any semblance of a shadow or a dark spot. Kaneda took off the canvas to reveal his freshly finished motorcycle. A frame based on the BMW R1200 with engine parts of Yamaha r1. A sleek red sport-chopper hybrid with numerous stickers on it.
"Thanks Shin"-Kaneda said out loud as he lifted up the fairing and sat in the comfortable recaro seat before starting the engine and twisting the throttle with the green sparks flying out of the discs. Kaneda lifted up the motorcycle on the rear wheel and made his way towards his school. As he rode across the 8th district with the only safety measure aside from the window of the fairing were a pair of goggles that remembered the first night rides of the capsules he was looking for quality breakfast. 'Ok , and here !'-Kaneda thought as he noticed the giant Mcdonald's neon as he separated from the giant traffic jam of workers in their cars and scooters making their way to the richer districts for work. As Kaneda found the Mcdrive window
"Welcome to Mcdonalds , may i take your order ?"-A feminine voice from the voice box said as Kaneda looked at the menu
"Ok, two Toasts bacon-cheese and a coke zero"-Kaneda said as he rode up to pay for his breakfast
"630,19 Yen"-The girl said as Kaneda took out his wallet and looked at a small amount of pennies and bills. 'Damn it , I have to pick up my payment from the gang fund. Shin was the one who divided the money'-Kaneda thought as he managed to gather the right amount of money and gave it to the nice girl wearing a workers uniform. 'Poor girl , she works her ass off while the prices rise . Damn angels'-Kaneda thought as thanks to Kei he had the info about what was going on in Tokyo 3. And how Shinji was monitored by WILLE 24/7 apparently by an undercover agent . Kaneda grabbed his order with a free hand and parked his bike in a parking spot and made his way towards the nearest table. Kaneda began to eat his breakfast as he felt his NEC flip phone vibrate in his pocket. As he noticed that the callers ID was redacted he knew who it was and picked up the call
"Hello Beautiful"-Kaneda said as he sipped his coke
"Hey Kaneda , i call you to remind you that you have to visit Aiko and Kio"-Kei said as Kaneda sighed
"First i have to visit the HQ and pickup the money for that alimony"-Kaneda said as he heard Kei sigh
"Can you get someone else to do finance ? Ah , forgot it was Shinji who was respo-MARI NO ! THOSE ARE MINE !"-Kei screamed over the phone as Kaneda chuckled . It was another typical situation between two roommates. This time Mari stole some of Kei's cosmetics
"You won't catch me alive ! Oh hey Red !"-Mari said over the phone as she escaped to the bathroom
"For god's sake , how the hell our top scientist working on getting our own mechas started can be so immature . Shinji will either be disappointed or weirdly amused"-Kei said as Kaneda laughed
"Before you came along we met alot of weird and different people , most of them were immigrants that came here from shitholes all over the world. Like where the hell is Poland ? Lets just say that Mari is not on the top of the weird people we met across the last decade"-Kaneda said as Kei on the other side of the phone had a pondered expression
"Fine , Mari wants to go to Harukiya tonight for drinking again , so we can see each other tonight"-Kei said as Kaneda grinned while eating his toast
"It's a date"-Kaneda said as he closed the call and finished his breakfast. As he threw away the trash and made his way back to his bike. As he sat in he started the engine and put on the goggles before making his way towards the vocational school. As he rode Kaneda noticed the typical views of the slums that compared to the blocks of flats that Shinji was living in looked like a villa. With the railways of the aerial train above his head. As Kaneda stopped at the lights he was bored with the premise that he was going to school. In contrast to Shinji Kaneda and the rest hated studying and most of them preferred to pass them in commision exams , for Kaneda school was just an obligatory filler that he had to live through. As Kaneda stood on the lights he noticed something interesting . So much that he took off his goggles. On one of the flats there was a giant mural with silhouettes of Shinji and Unit 01 with a city behind them as the sky was painted purple with green stars shining on the sky
"Wow , Shin really got himself a following back home"-Kaneda said as he took out his phone and took a photo of the mural just as the light switched to green. After 10 minutes of riding Kaneda reached the devastated building that was supposed to be a school that was supposed to be changing delinquents like him to worthy members of society . Kaneda parked his bike beside the rest of The Capsules bikes. Kaneda got out of his bike and made his way towards his classroom
"THE BIG RED IS HERE !"-Kaneda said as with a kick he opened the door to the devastated classroom . Aside from a bunch of delinquents there was no sign of a teacher. Kaneda simply got to his seat and noticed Tetsuo next to him who was playing with his phone
"Look who finally showed up"-Tetsuo said as he did not took his sight from his phone
"Yeah , I know I'm late. I was too busy yesterday. So my clock was probably ringing for an hour"-Kaneda said as Tetsuo finally took off his eyes from his phone
"Really ?! You literally bailed out on us to go do shady stuff with his girlfriend !"-Tetsuo accused as Kaneda remembered what happened yesterday

YESTERDAY
"SHIIIIIIIIIIIT !"-Kaneda screamed as he saw the bullets firing at them . It was another of the "typical" proxy missions given to them by WILLE.
"So Mr. "I command one of the biggest gangs in the city." What is our plan ?"-Kei asked as she was shooting at the NERV section 2 agents. Kaneda took out a battery out of his backpack and plugged into his rifle as he started to counterfire while he was trying to come up with a plan. As he looked at the street, they were both trying to get out of the fire exchange. As they both continued the counterfire Kaneda noticed the sewer hatch
"BINGO ! hold on tight !"-Kaneda said as he took out a smoke grenade out of his backpack and threw it at the agents before grabbing Kei's hand as they dashed across the street with bullets flying around them . Kaneda took the sewer hatch off as Kei made her way down the ladder. As Kaneda noticed she was safe he got inside the sewer and put the hatch back on . After 30 minutes of silent waiting the car that the agents used drive away
"Oh , that was close"-Kaneda said as he sighed before a slap on his forehead
"CLOSE !? WE ALMOST GOT KILLED ! AGAIN !"-Kei scolded him as Kaneda turned to her with a 'shit , i screwed up' expression. That was changed by a deep kiss on his lips
"Kei what the ?-"
"Shut up and take off your clothes"-Kaneda was cutted off by Kei as he obeyed
'And than we had sex , thank god i always have condoms'-Kaneda thought as he finished his train of thought and looked at Tetsuo
"Come on , I mean you also have a girlfriend. You should also spend time with Kaori. Besides now with those Kaiju running around our country the world can literally end the next day , and you prefer to beat up people dressed like clowns. Not gonna lie, I also like to do that . But during this whole war we should focus on other things in life"-Kaneda said as he took out the newest number of weekly Shonen jump , stolen of course
"Maybe . But Shinji will save the day anyways , like always . It was this way since we were kids , you always treat me like a little kid while Shinji keeps this whole operation together, besides Kaori doesn't seem so intrigued by those Kaiju"-Tetsuo said as he returned to play with his phone
"Or is it because she misses Mana and wants to get in touch with her ?"-Kaneda asked as Tetsuo looked at him again
"Are you insinuating something ?"-Tetsuo asked as Kaneda closed his eyes
"Maybe because her best friend left the city without a trace and it left her feeling lonely ? Have you ever asked her for that ?"-Kaneda asked Tetsuo as he looked at Kaneda and than at his desk
"I never thought of it"-Tetsuo said as Kaneda looked at the ceiling
"Well that is something you can think about today , anyways i'm going to Harukiya tonight so i hope that i will get the chance to beat up some clowns"-Kaneda said as Kaisuke rushed in to the classroom
"KANEDA ! WE HAVE A PROBLEM !"-Kaisuke screamed as he rushed to Kaneda
"Calm down Kai , what's going on ?"-Kaneda asked as Kaisuke looked like he just runned a mile
"THE CLOWNS ATTACKED OUR HQ !"-Kaisuke screamed as Kaneda's facial expression changed
"They are really pushing their luck ! Tetsuo we are leaving !"-Kaneda screamed as he along with Tetsuo and Kaisuke jolted out of the classroom to the parking lot and got on their motorcycles. After several minutes of riding the trio reached one of the abandoned sewage treatment plants. Also known as " 28th Neogoyan Sewage Treatment Plant". Abandoned for the last 5 years it was used by The Capsules as their main base of operations. As Kaneda stopped his bike he noticed that the already terrible looking building looked even worse. Kaneda got out of his bike and along with Tetsuo and Kaisuke walked inside the HQ. And what Kaneda saw could be called either "Dante's inferno" or "The corpo hellhole". lower rank members were running around as Kaneda tried to take control of the situation
"Ok everyone calm down , hey kid !"-Kaneda said as he grabbed by the collar one of the younger members. Probably 9 or 10
"Yes sir ?"-The kid asked as he bowed to Kaneda
"What happened around here ?"-Kaneda asked as the younger member looked at the apocalypse behind him
"Well sir , we were minding our own business . Until the clowns did a drive-by on the base , the older members took up arms and tried to retaliate the attack , as you can see it failed . The vice commander told us to help with the wounded ones . About that-YOU TWO CARRY HIM FASTER !"-the kid ordered as other two younger members carried a wounded comrade
"Good job , ok what's your name ?"-Kaneda asked
"Umm , its Takaya"-The kid , apparently named Takaya replied
"All right then , consider yourself promoted and you'll get a new bike . Judging how most of the young sports around here use mopeds and 50cc pocket bikes, you can wait for your new 125cc, and what about the lab ?"-Kaneda asked as Takaya pointed at one of the doors
"The clowns only managed to damage the front parking lot and a bit of the inside , the money or the pill lab wasn't looted , the only damages were the sidecar motorcycles and few of our weapons , no to mentions we had to extinguish few fires"-Takaya said as Kaneda took a look at the damages of their center that he and Shinji commanded for years
"All right , every member that does not exceed the age of 11 , come here before me right now !"-Kaneda said as a group of 20 to 25 kids rushed around him and closed him in a tight circle
"Listen here kiddos , since it was your group that made the biggest effort in defending our HQ you are stepping up . As the leader of the Capsules and on behalf of our Tokyo 3 department 'Which is just Shin' i officially crunch you in into an official group within our ranks. All of you now report to Takaya who reports to me directly , thank you and now I have to go to check the lab. Tetsuo , Kai , with me !"-Kaneda finished his monologue and made his way to the door of the staircase with Tetsuo and Kaisuke alongside him and made their way down the staircase as they reached the underground parking lot that was turned into a lab for making pills.
"OK ! YAMAGATA COME OVER HERE !"-Kaneda screamed as Yamagata rushed to him
"Oh hey Kaneda"-Yamagata said while he had a pair of lab goggles on his eyes
"Why are you hiding here while kids and rank-and-file members are defending the upstairs !?"-Kaneda screamed as Tetsuo and Kaisuke backed out
"Well someone had to defend the lower floors right ? Besides, someone had to keep the cooking down here"-Yamagata said as he pointed at the aperture and chemists making the capsules and pills.
"Maybe , but at least you shouldn't leave some kids and failures alone "-Kaneda accused as Yamagata looked at his feet
"Ah ok , now I have to take my money from the fund. I have alimony to deliver , and don't worry. we're gonna take revenge tonight. Kaisuke ! Tonight you're on watch duty. If clowns show up you come straight to Harukiya and tell me where they are , prepare the crew and have them on stand by !"-Kaneda said as he made his way to the "office". That in reality was one of the closets where all of the money was kept. As the leader Kaneda had the biggest cut of the incoms the gang made from their shady buisnesses. After he took his money he closed the door and made his way upstairs . After checking that the rest of the things are going fine Kaneda got on his bike and made his way back to the orphanage . As Kaneda rode he noticed how much the murals around not only the 8th district but also other districts were arts of Shinji and Unit 01. Some were amazing and could be considered Masterpieces of street art. And others looked like they were sprayed on the walls by a 9-year old , which was probably true. Kaneda could only look as Shinji was turning from just a street legend and a respected street racer to an almost worshiped hero with art and even songs written about him. 'I swear to god if I hear Cruel Angel Thesis again I'll rip my ears out. I understand that Shin has become something of an icon but the Radio keeps playing it 24/7 . I even prefer the immigrant stations than that'-Kaneda thought as he noticed that the sun was setting , while it wasn't making any difference since the neons were picking up the job of the sun. It seemed pretty odd how much time had passed while he was in the HQ helping to clean the battlefield with the clowns , while also planning the revenge attack on the clowns. But now Kaneda had another objective. And that was to deliver the money for Aiko , Kaneda's ex-girlfriend who was also a nurse assistant in the school. Even though Shinji and Tetsuo tried to persuade him to not seduce her for capsules and chemistry formulas. But as a hot-blooded 12 year old he didn't listen and that resulted in Kio , Kaneda's illegitimate son. And as every teenage father at first he tried to dodge it like fire. It wasn't until he was persuaded by Tetsuo and Shinji to be at least in touch with his "Family" since both of his parents were dead. After several minutes of dodging traffic jams Kaneda finally reached the orphanage. And now he had to walk all the way to the girl's dorm. And due to the main door being closed Kaneda had to use the other way of getting in. The way that Shinji discovered years ago.
"Ok , so it's the laundry window then"-Kaneda said as he made his way across the outside of the building. After 10 minutes of walking around the building Kaneda finally found the right window and swept inside the laundry room
"Like Solid Snake , completely undetected. I should ask Shin to borrow his PS2"-Kaneda said out loud as he walked out the laundry room and continued walking across the corridor of the girls dorm while noticing how much cleaner it was than the boys corridor. The girl's side looked like a normal orphanage while the boy's side looked like it looked. After a few staircases and corridors Kaneda finally found Aiko's room . At first he wanted to use the doorbell but then he remembered what hour it was and Kio was probably asleep. So he decided to knock instead. After 30 seconds or so Aiko finally opened the door revealing Aiko wearing a white overgrown t-shirt and black shorts
"Hello Kaneda , i have to finish dinner so make yourself comfortable"-Aiko said as Kaneda walked inside
"Aiko you look-"
"Completely tired and exhausted from studying and taking care of Kio ? Yes , i'll need five minutes to finish food for Kio"-Aiko said as she went over to the tiny "kitchen" comprised of mini two-plate electric cooker and a kettle. Kaneda just sat on the bed and watched Kio throwing himself in a baby bed. After five minutes Aiko took Kio out of the bed and started feeding him
"I got the money for the month , plus two months in highsight"-Kaneda said as he handed Aiko an envelope
"You started to pay in advance ? At least I don't have to have court to chase you across the city"-Aiko said as she continued to feed Kio . Kaneda's sight however settled on the medical books on the table next to the window
"You are really devoting yourself to studying to get to that Medical school"-Kaneda said as Aiko finished feeding Kio and looked at the books
"After Kio was born I completely devoted myself back to my studies. Last month I finally managed to write the finals and next year I can go to college. And since Kio's father disappeared i had to focus to provide him with the best i could , Kaori is a great babysitter , and for free"-Aiko said as Kaneda looked at his feet with shame
"How many times do I have to say that I'm sorry ?"-Kaneda asked a rhetorical question as Aiko looked at him with an expression that could be hardly put apart , even by Shinji who was an expert in that
"Kaneda , i'm not an idiot . Of course I can see that you are doing your best , even so you still seduced me for the stupidest reason ever imagined . But you seem to get a hold on your responsibilities , i think it's probably to do since Shinji is now saving the world"-Aiko said as a vein appeared on his forehead
"What was that supposed to mean ?"-Kaneda asked as Aiko laughed
"Shinji was doing your whole job , hell Shinji helped me with Kio sometimes since he knows his way with kids , and now he saves the world apparently so you have to do your job as a leader . And you even seem to spend more time with Kio , you're becoming a better person"-Aiko said as Kaneda blushed at his ex's comment
"Well , I do work a job and try my best with school" -Kaneda said as he took Kio in his arms and tickled his chin a bit . 'Yeah you little rascal , i know you like it'-Kaneda thought as he put down Kio
"Kaneda , i know that you started again but i can also see that you changed , how about trying again ? Go out for a drink ? It would be better for Kio that if we at least tried to put our relationship back on its feet"-Aiko said as Kaneda breathed in and out
"Aiko , I know that we both have a responsibility and that is Kio . But I can't come back to you knowing how I hurt you and used you. I'm happy right now with the things that are right now , the most I can do is that I can visit Kio more in the week . But if you need help with Kio you know my number"-Kaneda said as he got from the bed and made his way towards the door
"Kaneda , just be careful . I want Kio to still have a father"-Aiko said as Kaneda looked at them and gave a thumbs up before leaving the room. As he walked along the corridor he looked at his phone , and then he had the idea and dialed the number by the ID Shin/HS
"Hey Kaneda , what can I do for you ? What strings do I have to pull though to get you out of some shit ?"-Shinji asked as Kaneda was looking at the vending machine that stood in front of him
"Hello Shin , it's not about me . It's about Aiko"-Kaneda said as meanwhile hundreds of kilometers away Shinji Ikari almost cut his finger while making dinner
"What about her ? Don't tell me she sued you ? Listen , since im kinda Kio's uncle i wont do anything if you don't pay child support"-Shinji said as Kaneda's face looked like he stepped on a lego brick
"No ! Are you crazy ?! I just paid her three months in advance , it's about education"-Kaneda said as Shinji got a little more curious
"What do you mean ? Is it about the school or something ?"-Shinji asked
"Well no , actually she just wrote the finals and next year she wants to go to a medical school . So listen , I know that Kichirou has a lot of strings to pull in new Osaka . So as the "Yakuza Prince" is there a way she would receive a place at their university ? Along with a place to live ? Just to get Kio and her out of here for a time ?"-Kaneda asked as Shinji on the other side of the phone was pretty much speechless , it was the first time he ever asked about such a favor for them
"I can give you points for being a better father than my old man so ok , i'll make a few phone calls so consider it done . You never asked me about such a favor before ? So if can know , what changed ?"-Shinji asked as Kaneda sighed
"Lets just say that the last months and running the capsules pretty much by myself taught me a lot about responsibility . And Aiko deserves that school , she studies day and night. We may not be together anymore but we have a child together , so I want her very best for her and Kio . I don't want her to end up on the street"-Kaneda said as Shinji on the other side of the phone looked at Rei and Asuka talking about something
"We probably both learned something , i'll make a call tomorrow and tell you that it's done, see ya around !"-Shinji said as he closed the call
"Ok , since that's done i can finally go relax"-Kaneda said as he found the laundry room and sneaked out of the building through the window. After a five minute walk Kaneda found himself back in his room. After checking if his door is closed he opened his closet to reveal his biker clothes alongside some broken helmets and goggles. Kaneda dressed up in his biker clothes and made his way to the toilet. 'Ok , which panel was it? Oh , this one !'-Kaneda thought as he lifted up the panel to reveal his laser rifle , a stolen NERV prototype. 'And now the fun begins'-Kaneda thought as he rushed out of his room and made his way down the corridor to his bike. As he started it again he felt the rush of adrenaline and pulled the throttle to the max making his way across the never sleeping city all the way to the other side of the slums that were connected with the highway and what most of the time served as the "starting line" for the motorcycle gangs. Kaneda finally reached the crossing of the regular street and the highway. That meant passing 9 different districts and watching out for the gangs the capsules had a beef with. Kaneda parked his bike in the nearby alley and checked if the autoalert was set on. After that he made his way down the staircase and opened the door to reveal Harukiya. As Kaneda walked in he noticed Kei and Mari sitting in front the counter
"Hey girls , bartender ! Another pair of drinks for the girls !"-Kaneda said as he sat on one of the chairs
"Hey Kaneda , you delivered the money did you ?"-Kei asked as Kaneda showed a thumbs up
"Yep , I paid for three months in advance . Besides that i called Shin so that he can pull some strings in new Osaka to get her to that medical school"-Kaneda said as he took a sip of Mari's drink
"Hey ! Order one yourself !"-Mari said as Kaneda chuckled a bit
"As the candidate for the best dad of the year i deserve some award , besides i just bought you a drink"-Kaneda said as he finished Mari's drink
"If you truly were the best dad of the year you wouldn't leave them to themselves"-Kei said as Kaneda looked at her
"Hey ! If i had not acted like a jackass i wouldn't save your life thrice !"-Kaneda accused as Mari patted his head
"Don't worry, red ! She's just messing with you . If i had a penis i would be sinking in child support"-Mari said as she stared another drink and Kei closed her eyes and smirked
"And you also did that , does the name Shinji Ikari say anything to you ?"-Kaneda asked sarcastically
"I want to remind you that I was frozen for the last 14 years ! If I could, I would take him in !"-Mari defended as she was knocked to the head by Kei
"Shut up you idiots ! Someone can hear you"-Kei said as Mari wiped her head
"Coming back to that, I'm sure that I would be a good guardian . Hell i could be his girlfriend judging by our age difference , i have all the curves necessary"-Mari said as finished her drink and ordered another one
"Mari , as a dad I would never trust you with Kio , and the girlfriend part is also a no . Shin found a girlfriend"-Kaneda exclaimed witch caused Kei and spit out her drink
"The , what ?"-Kei said as Kaneda chuckled while Mari took off her glasses in amusement
"Yep , i even have a photo"-Kaneda said and managed to find a photo of Shinji and Asuka and handed the phone over to Kei
"Oh , a Gaijin. Of course even a girlfriend has to be out of the ordinary , its Shinji after all"-Kei said as Mari snached the phone away
"Wait , is that? Oh my god it's hilarious !"-Mari said as she fell down from her chair laughing
"Why are you laughing like a madman ? Did you order one of the special drinks ?"-Kaneda asked as Mari got back on her chair and gave Kaneda back his phone
"It's Soryu's kid ! Oh my god little Asuka has grown up. Oh my god how this world is small"-Mari said as she chuckled down her drink
"Wait , Soryu ? Like one of the scientists on Project E ? And she is one of the pilots ? It all connects , i have to-"
"Kei Kei Kei Kei , let's not talk about work right now ! We can relax now for a bit"-Kaneda said as he put his legs on the counter
"KANEDA ! WE GOT EM ! THE CLOWNS ARE ON THE CROSS OF 579 AND HIGHWAY 23 NORTH"-Tetsuo announced as he walked into Harukiya. Kaneda looked at Tetsuo and then at Mari and Kei. Kaneda jugged down his drink and loaded up his laser rifle
"Sorry girls , work"-Kaneda said as he got off his chair and put the money for the drinks on the counter and left
"Have fun Red !"-Mari said as she finished her drink and ordered another one
"I swear to god i don't know how i pull through with him"-Kei said as Mari turned over to him
"You're overreacting , he's great ! He's a good dad , cares about his friends , respects your hobbies . Boyfriend like that is a treasure"-Mari said as got to work with her drink . Kei only sighed and lifted up a hand
"Bartender , another drink"-Kei said as she put her head on the caunter. Meanwhile outside Kaneda and Tetsuo made their way towards the alley that contained their motorcycles .
"Come on , we're gonna have to catch up with the rest"-Kaneda said as he started the engine and switched to reverse before riding out of the alley and onto the main street. 'Ok and here , we , go !'-Kaneda thought as he pulled the throttle to the max and jolted away into the night of the city as Tetsuo followed him , after 10 minutes or so both of the reached the main battlefield that was one of the streets as numerous bikes were dodging the cars standing on the streets . After 30 seconds or so all of the bikers heard Police Sirens. 'Ok babe , it's your first time with a battle , show me what you do'-Kaneda thought as he twisted the throttle while green sparks were emitting from the discs. As Kaneda was passing the other capsules bikes and mopeds he was suddenly attacked by one of the clowns holding a chain. Kaneda managed to dodge but the reaction wasn't quick enough and the chain scratched the paint
"Oh you bastard ! Eat this !"-Kaneda screamed as he fired his laser rifle at the clown sending his bike in flames
"HA ! Don't screw with the capsules !"-Kaneda screamed as he noticed that the clowns were going onto the highway entrance
"Kaneda ! They're running away ! What are we going to do ?"-Tetsuo asked as Kaneda managed to check his pocket . And as he digged up few rubber bands he got the idea
"Bingo ! Tetsuo , find some cover from the cops and call the sidecar guys and tell them that you have my orders and tell them to wait behind the highway before the exit to the 19th district . After that join the rest"-Kaneda said as he knew the plan and split up from the rest and found the exit that he used as an entrance and found himself on the opposite side of the road and started to dodge the cars. 'Sorry , sorry , excuse me , coming though'-Kaneda was thinking as he heard numerous horns as he noticed the clowns being chased by the capsules . As he managed to find himself 500 meters from the main group . Kaneda turned around his bike and stood in front of the raging group going at almost 250 km/h .Kaneda switched the gear to reverse and put a rubber band on the throttle in a way that made the throttle twist and made was slowly but steady going in the opposite direction towards the horde. Kaneda took out the phone and called Tetsuo
"Are they ready ?"-Kaneda asked as he checked the mirrors to see the exit to the 19th district
"Yep , I'm already with them . We are ready to attack"-Tetsuo said as Kaneda smirked
"Ok , wait 30 seconds and jump in"-Kaneda said as he took the rifle and loaded it as few of the clowns caught up with him
"Look guys , a lonely junkie ! Maybe if we can damage your little bike of yours he will stop act like a big shot like he's HS or something"-A clown that held a baseball bat said as Kaneda laughed
"HA ! You know what they say ! Don't bring a bat to a laser rifle fight !"-Kaneda said as he fired his rifle at the unfortunate biker sending him flying . Kaneda reloaded the rifle and fired at another clown
"You little Shit !"-One of them said and took out a pistol. As they passed the 19th district exit 5 sidecar motorcycles and Tetsuo attacked the group and thanks to a few PVC sticks and baseball bats managed to take out the enemy group . After the dust fell down they noticed that the blockade they made was effective and the rest of the clowns were trying to turn away
"They are trying to run ! After them !"-Kaneda ordered as he , Tetsuo and sidecars chased the rest of the clowns beginning the cat-n-mouse game again
A/N:Hell yeah ! I wanted to write this chapter for a long time. I wanted to show that while Shinji is the main character, he is not the center of the universe . While he is out there in Tokyo 3 saving the world with One-Chan life is still going on back in Neogoya, And this is actually the first time the Iconic Kaneda motorcycle shows up in this story since before he used an old R1. This is also serving as a teaser to the post-Sahaquiel arc which will be a lot different than what happened after the other angels . Also we now know the name of Kaneda's ex since we need to expand the lore
