Chapter 28 : Regrouping and Rebuilding
"ehhh , why was i supposed to do that ?"-Shinji asked as he finished writing the list of missing and new parts and handed it over to Asuka who took Shinji's laptop
"The reason is that we have to make the body for the heart , you know , something that you completely destroyed while taking your bike for a spin ?"-Asuka said as Shinji closed his eyes and managed to breathe in and out
"I'm tired of Misato's jokes about that , yeah I was and to some degree im still an asshole . But I don't have to be reminded about that all the time !"-Shinji said as he remembered a few of the jokes he heard from Misato, "Hey Maverick , did you like your flight ?" or "Hey Shinji , I'm sorry about the motorcycle , I'm sure you'll fly high again". While Shinji knew Misato wasn't trying to hurt him those jokes would still pinch him in some parts
"Besides , judging by the time we have to give for school and for Synch tests we would had to spent two months on rebuilding spending with the little free time we have"-Shinji said as Asuka smirked
"We won't , we will build it in a workweek , because instead of going immediately to bed i made a plan"-Asuka said as she handed over Shinji the plan of the Geofront with one of the rooms being highlighted with marker
"Question number 1. How the hell do you want to build it in five days ? And question number 2 . What does a room 17-JL that is next to a giant Printer of Eva Armor that also is the basement will do for us and-ohhhh , now i get it"-Shinji asked as Asuka smirked again
"Answer number 1 . Since i finished school and you care shit , check this out"-Asuka said as she grabbed the phone in the kitchen and dialed up a number while trying to vocode her voice
"Hello this is Misato Katsuragi , i'm afraid that Shinji and Asuka won't be able to attend School next week , I'm really sorry"-Asuka said as Misato walked into the room with a beer in hand
"Shit"-Shinji said as Asuka turned her head to Misato
"I'm not gonna ask the reason for why you want to skip school for the next week because i probably know why , but i expect something as a return"-Misato said as Shinji shaked his head
"I know nothing is for free , so what do you want ?"-Shinji asked as Misato smirked
"Finally get the gearbox in the alpine run normally . It feels like stirring with a ladle in a pot"-Misato said as Shinji nodded in agreement
"Ok , but after we finish the HS Finale , we will skip a lot of sleep so we should get to work , how long will we have to wait for the parts ?"-Shinji asked as he turned to Asuka
"Actually all the parts are coming from Tokyo 2 , i sent Section 2 to pick them up so they should reach the Geofront by the evening"-Asuka said as Shinji nodded in agreement
"Ok , we should head to the Geofront to prepare our work place"-Shinji said as Rei walked onto the scene with a toast in her mouth
"That's good , besides Rei has a synch test today so we have to head there"-Misato Said as the trio head out of the apartment . Misato and Rei helped Shinji and Asuka with loading the frame and the box of the parts that could be reused on the trailer alongside their tools and got inside the car. After 30 minutes of driving all of them found themselves in the Geofront . After the car elevator finally reached the parking lot two NERV employees were waiting with a cart
"Good job you two , we'll take it from here"-Shinji said as both employees left . Shinji and Asuka begun to unload the frame parts and tools
"Ok , me and Rei are leaving for the synch tests"-Misato said as she and Rei begun to leave
"Wait Rei ! Come here for a bit"-Shinji said as Rei walked up to him
"Remember what i said , act as robotic as possible"-Shinji whispered to her ear as she nodded in agreement and left to join Misato
"Alrighty then , no let's head to our new living space for this week"-Asuka said as Shinji pushed the cart to the elevator. As they reached the floor where the room 17-JL was residing. As they pushed the cart in as Asuka held the map while looking at the doors
"Here , Open up !"-Asuka said as Shinji noticed the giant door , he sighed as he began to open the large door . As they opened it revealed a large room that could be called a warehouse if it wasn't a part of such a big conglomerate . Shinji pushed the cart inside the room and Asuka lit the lights up to reveal a white floor with numerous flying platforms sitting in the corner and a giant window that showed the giant Armor pieces of the EVA 01 being printed out in the same pristine Purple that was on Shinji's jacket and on The Highway Star
"I'll have the laptop set up and get the tools"-Shinji said as Asuka helped him set it up while also having the schematics of HS finale printed out . The frame went on the front of the room while all the tools were taken out of their boxes and waiting for their owner
"So , how long do we have to wait for the parts to come ?"-Shinji asked Asuka as a knocking on the door could be heard . Asuka opened the door to reveal two Section 2 agents with tons of boxes from various companies in different shapes and sizes
"Thank you for your help , now please help to load this stuff here"-Asuka said as after 20 minutes of loading the boxes in Shinji and Asuka were now looking at them with an marveling expression
"Judging how we want to rebuild a decade of work in just a week it costed a small fortune , but what can i say since most of the original parts were either stolen or received from the pile of display parts in a warehouse that was a smuggling place before"-Shinji said as Asuka smirked
"And that's the best part , absolutely nothing . After putting the card numbers from the NERV card i received an information from the HQ that all the equipment will be brought for free"-Asuka said as Shinji smiled
"But building the bike is the one problem and getting it running is the other. Not only we have to build it but i also have to write the software"-Shinji said as Asuka looked at him
"So we will take Shifts , While you will write software I'll be assembling the bike parts . And after some time we will switch"-Asuka said as both of them started to take out the parts from the boxes . As he looked at the parts all taken out, Shinji's mind was already assembling the parts into a full motorcycle . As Shinji was thinking about the finished product he noticed that there were more parts than needed
"Uhmmm , Asuka ?"-Shinji asked as Asuka turned around and noticed that Shinji found out
"Ah , I'm sorry that I didn't tell you . But i made some tiny tweaks with the design"-Asuka said as Shinji looked at her with a curious expression
"I expanded the seat so that i could also fit , i never told you but it felt really uncomfortable . i also added a parachute brake behind the tail light , relax it's tiny so that i won't be a big weight"-Asuka said as Shinji nodded in agreement. 'Ok , it's not so bad . It's eeny meeny tiny so nothing important was changed'-Shinji thought as Asuka looked at him with a calmed down expression. 'Oh , at least he's not angry , and he learns from his mistakes'-Asuka thought as Shinji looked at the tools and put on his work gloves
"Let's get started"
DAY ONE
Shinji and Asuka woke up on the floor inside the tiny room, both of them wearing their work clothes . As they've got their consciousness again they noticed Shinji's motorcycle and that the frame was partially assembled as the lone frame now had a rear fork and front fork with the shock absorbers being already put on alongside the newly installed handlebars
"Looks like we got to work pretty quick"-Asuka said as Shinji looked at her with a surprised expression
"And we managed to do that in just 5 or 6 hours , but now we should get something to drink . I saw a vending machine nearby"-Shinji said as he and Asuka walked out of their work room and after few minutes of walking they found themselves in front of big vending machine
"I thought that big vending machines like that were only in the giant cities"-Asuka said as Shinji started to choose the drinks and food
"In Neogoya they are a common thing , at least here i dont have to pay for things"-Shinji said as he took out their food
"So we will eat things from here instead of normal food ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji sighed
"If we want to finish the HS finale we will have to sacrifice our tummies for the beautiful Motorcycle that we are building right now"-Shinji said as both he and Asuka entered back to the room and sat on the ground and began to eat
"Ok , so now we will have to get the exhaust and connect it with the rocket engines , and that would mean"-Asuka said as she pointed to the flying platforms that were sitting in the corner
"So we have to get to work"-Shinji said as both he and Asuka managed to push one of the platforms out of the corner. Shinji and Asuka took off the plastic fairings and noticed the tiny rocket engine residing inside
"Guten tag , you will have a much better use than sitting inside this stupid prototype"-Asuka said as they un screwed all the parts that were connected with the engine .They repeated the same thing with the another of the prototypes . After an hour they finished with the engines they looked at the engines
"Ok , now we will have to connect them with the exhausts"-Asuka said as Shinji looked at the engines and than at the engine inside the frame
"So , we will connect the engines with the exhaust and the engine so that they will work in a trio"-Shinji said as they got to work , hours were passing as they managed to connect the rocket engines with not only the main engine but also with the exhaust. After another 4 or 6 hours of hard work they finished with the engines as they looked at it with Pride with The frame that just two days ago was just a broken part was now taking the form of a skeletal frame without the wheels and the fairings . After some time of looking at the frame they fell down on the ground and drifted off to sleep while Asuka was using his body as a pillow
DAY TWO
Shinji felt his cheek being touched by a hand . At first Shinji was trying to put the hand away . As he opened his eyes again Shinji noticed that it was Rei holding three bentos and a sports bag
"Oh , Rei . How did you find us ? It's literally the hellhole of the Geofront"-Shinji said as Asuka woke up and noticed Rei
"Oh hey Rei , what are you doing here ? Oh Bentos !"-Asuka said as she grabbed one of the Bentos from Rei's Hand and began to devour it
"Uhmm , hope you enjoy it"-Rei said as she handed over another Bento to Shinji and sat down before she started eating her own Bento
"You made it yourself, Rei ? I Am truly impressed that you can make something so tasty without meat"-Shinji said as Rei smiled and looked at the frame sitting in the center of the room
"How is the progress with the motorcycle ?"-Rei asked as Asuka swallowed her food
"We're actually 40% done , the main frame is mostly finished , today electronics and software. And oh i forgot the synch tests"-Asuka said as she remembered that she didn't took her plug suit
"Fuck , and we forgot our plug suits and we have no spare clothes to change into"-Shinji said as Rei opened the sports bag she brought with her to reveal their plug suits but also some spare clothes and more bentos and drinks.
"Thanks Rei , you really are a guardian angel . Now we should start go switch to our plug suit since the Synch Test starts in 20 minutes"-Asuka said as Shinji took out his blue plugsuit out off the sports bag and went to the corner of the room to switch to his plug suit
"Can i come out now ?"-Shinji asked as he was now crouching behind the flying platform
"NOT YET ! , WE'RE ALSO CHANGING !"-Asuka said as both her and Rei we're also changing into their plug suits
"Ok , you can come out now !"-Asuka said as Shinji finally stood up and saw Asuka and Rei wearing their red and white plugsuits respectively
"Well , now we should head to the Eva Cages"-Shinji said as he grabbed the sports bag and the trio left the room and made their way to the nearest elevator . As they reached the correct flour the made their way across the corridor and found the correct elevator , as they rode up after 5 minutes they saw the three giants waiting for them
"Ok , it's just 40 minutes of sitting , after that we go to the bathhouse to clean ourselves off and go back to work on the HS"-Asuka said as Shinji walked up to unit 01 . As he got inside Unit 01 and felt the entry plug close around him. 'Here we go , bring in the Devil's bukake !'-Shinji thought as he felt LCL around him and noticed the flashing colors around him
"Good morning Shinji , just do what you always do"-Voice of Maya Ibuki echoed across the entry plug as Shinji relaxed and closed his eyes . 'Ok , just think about something else . Oh hey ! I forgot that I have this !'-Shinji thought as he looked at the SDAT tape deck that was installed before the battle at . Shinji also noticed that there was still a SDAT cassette inside . So to combat his boredom Shinji pressed play and music flooded the plug while he could relax and focus on getting his Synch Ratio at the capable levels . After 45 minutes Shinji started to feel sleepy before the Voice of Maya brought him back up
"Good job Shinji . 96,5 % sync ratio . You can leave now"-Maya said as Shinji opened the entry plug and got out and felt his feet under the rubber of the plug suit he felt his feet touch the cold metal of the Eva Cages. Shinji grabbed the sports bag and made his way towards the elevator and noticed Rei and Asuka waiting for him
"Oh look Rei , it's mr we-had-to-wait-10-minutes-because-he-felt-asleep !"-Asuka teased as Shinji felt a jolt of having his pride hit with a steamroller . 'Ok , never falling asleep again'-Shinji thought as they walked inside the elevator
"So , now we head to the bathhouse ?"-Rei asked as Asuka nodded in agreement . After another ride on the elevator the trio finally managed to find the NERV bathhouse , for pilots only.
"Ok , now take your clothes and head to the girl's side . I'm not a pervert for looking at my sister naked"-Shinji said as grabbed his spare clothes and a towel and headed off . As he opened the door he noticed tons of baths waiting for him. Shinji got inside the nearest bath and started washing himself with the washing gel he had in his locker . After a long hour-long bath Shinji felt like being freshly reborn again and started to wipe himself off and after a few minutes not only he was clean but also dry as a desert . After putting on his fresh clothes Shinji went out of the bathhouse and this time he was completely alone .'I forgot , girls wash longer than boys'-He thought as he remembered that he left his phone back at the Workroom , and that meant boredom , long insufferable boredom. After 30 minutes of waiting Asuka and Rei finally left the Girl side of the bathhouse .
"And I had to wait a long time ?"-Shinji asked snidely as Asuka showed him her tongue and the trio made their way back to Shinji and Asuka's workroom . As they reached their room and lit up the lights to again reveal the unfinished Highway Star
"So , you'll be leaving Rei ?"-Asuka asked as she put on her working gloves
"I was hoping that we would eat lunch together since i brought more bentos"-Rei said as pointed at the few boxes she brought before the trio head out to the synch tests
"Ahh ok , we have time"- Shinji said as he took one of the bentos and sat next to Rei as Asuka did the same and all of them began to eat the food Rei made for them
"You never told me that you can cook Rei"-Asuka said as Rei stopped eating
"I learned it by observing my brother . After months of living with him i could learn all the moves and sequences that he did and i could copy them to my liking"-Rei said as Shinji was looking at her impressed
"Wow sis , photographic memory . Now that's a quirk I would want to possess"-Shinji said as all of them returned to eating . After they finished their bentos Rei packed the empty bentos back to the sports bag she brought alongside the dirty plug suits and clothes
"I'll return tommorow with more bentos , I hope that you will make more progress , Goodbye"-Rei said as she left the room . After she left Shinji and Asuka looked at the frame and put on their working gloves
"Today electronics , if we manage to install the new battery and starter we will be able to test the software"-Shinji said as Asuka looked at him
"Ok , i'll take care of the battery and electronics , you'll take care of the software"-Shinji said as Asuka started to work with the battery and cables while Shinji opened the laptop and got to work on the program . After opening the code he had from the old software he opened the art gallery where he had concept art for the new display and knew what to do. As the hours passed Shinji was typing the code while Asuka announced that she was done. Another hour passed as Asuka was looking at Shinji and helping him around with the code and correcting his mistakes. After he was done with the code Shinji took out his USB stick and began to download the software before he took out the brand new touch screen ready to be installed . After another 20 minutes Shinji installed the brand new software onto the touchscreen before finally installing it onto the motorcycle and with the help of Asuka they managed to connect the electronics from the display to main battery as another step was taken to finish and restore the Highway star back to its prime condition before the duo of mechanics and eva pilots fell asleep on the flour again
DAY THREE
Shinji woke up again as he looked around the room . 'It's morning , or at least I hope that it's morning'-he thought as got up from the ground and stretched his back. As he wanted to grab one of the drinks Asuka woke up as she let out a jawbreaking moan
"Morning , so what today engineer ?"-Asuka asked him and gave him a kiss on the cheek
"Today actually we do nothing really hard , this time we're gonna install the brake systems , the wheels the , disc drives and the tank"-Shinji said as they heard knocking on the door . As Shinji opened the large door it revealed Rei with a sports bag that again contained Bentos and fresh clothes
"Oh , Rei ! And breakfast !"-Asuka said as Rei handed over Bentos to Shinji and Asuka as they started to dig up while all of them sat down on the ground and began to eat their breakfast.
"The more time we spend here i am happier to have such a loving sister like you Rei"-Shinji said as Rei blushed at his comment
"T-thank you brother"-Rei replied as Shinji opened another Bento
"Why would he lie ? It's true ! You tolerate his bullshit , you're always in his corner no matter what . Hell you even bring us food !"-Asuka said between taking bites of her food . Meanwhile Rei's face was turning from pale to crimson from all the compliments she was receiving right now .
"Ok , now we should start with the discs"-Asuka said as Shinji held up his hand
"Halt halt halt ! First we have to get the body work and disc covers , since we would have to take off the discs and wheels again to put them on and that would be a pain in the ass , and sadly the printers are control by the MAGI"-Shinji replied as Asuka looked at him
"So what is the plan ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji smirked
"I have a plan , we're going to the central dogma and try to get Ibuki to help us , as being softer sex it could work by using a little manipulation , or somehow get Ritsu to help us and its probably impossible , so lets go"-Shinji said as the trio left the room and made their way to the elevator . As they rode up to the highest floor that the elevator allowed them they walked up to the plan of the Geofront
"There , using this corridor we can manage to get to the elevator that will allow us to get to the terminal dogma"-Rei said as Shinji and Asuka followed her . As they reached another elevator and in silence they made their way up several floors before they heard a ting from the elevator speaker that meant they reached their destination. As they got off the elevator they noticed the complete lack anyone except Maya
"Hey ! Lieutnant Ibuki !"-Shinji said as Maya turned around
"Oh , hello kids . Jesus, when was the last time you two slept ?"-Maya asked as she pointed at Shinji and Asuka
"We did sleep on concrete . And we didn't see sunlight for the last three days"-Asuka said as Maya put her hand on her mouth
"And the reason for that is ?"-Maya asked as Shinji walked up to her desk
"The reason is I screwed up badly a few days ago we're repairing our mistake . And since the Geofront produces the parts for Evas out off incredibly sophisticated materials that can survive high temperatures , and since the printers are controlled by the MAGI we need to ask for your help"-Shinji said as Maya was beginning to put the two and two together
"I want to try to guess. You need bodywork for your motorcycle since the materials that you used before cannot withstand the temperatures that the engine parts are producing. I guessed correctly , probably , right ?"-Maya asked as Shinji sighed and took out a memory stick
"Yep , you are right . So , will you help us ?"-Shinji asked as Asuka lifted up her hand
"I also sign up under that , we both need help , like really really badly"-Asuka said as Maya chuckled
"Is there something funny about this ?"-Shinji asked as Maya stopped her chuckling
"It's just when you first came here I wouldn't expect someone like you to ask for help , and here you are. Anyways, fine , I'll help you . Just gimme this memory stick"-Maya said as Shinji gave her the stick that contained the plans for the fairings and covers . After 30 minutes of waiting Maya handed the stick back to Shinji
"There you go , just go to the printing room and pick up the parts"-Maya said as Shinji put the memory stick back in in his pocket
"Thank you lieutenant Ibuki , you truly contributed to something great"-Shinji said left the central dogma as he entered the elevator alongside Asuka and Rei. Maya meanwhile turned back towards her work desk. 'He actually said thank you , now that's something new'-Maya thought as she continued her work . The pilot trio meanwhile was making their way back to the workroom to get a cart . After getting the cart they made their way towards the elevator that according to Rei would allow them to reach the printing room . After another 5 minute ride down they found themselves in a giant room that looked like a giant factory line full or machines and hydraulics
"Wow , so this is what my uncle was paying for"-Shinji said as Asuka was taking a look across the giant room while trying to find the parts that according to Maya were already waiting for them
"There they are ! Freshly printed !"-Asuka said as she rushed with Shinji pushing the cart behind her and Rei who jogged up towards them . As Shinji saw them his eyes immediately lit up . It was everything he wanted for his motorcycle . Not only light but also durable and resistant to high temperatures
"Ok , now lets load them up and come back to our room"-Shinji said as Asuka and Rei helped him load them up on the cart before the trio left the room and got themselves back on the elevator
"Uhmm , Shinji ?"-Asuka asked as she noticed something odd
"Yes ?"-Shinji replied confused
"Why is there a hole in the seat ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji laughed
"Oh , that's for NOS , you wondered why I added three additional buttons on the display ? The reason is that of course I would've added NOS , i never would've quit it , but that's for tomorrow , now it's the discs and the disc covers"-Shinji said as the elevator finally reached their floor . After Shinji pushed the cart inside the workroom he and Asuka took off all the fairings , disc covers and the custom fuel tank.
"Ok , so what's for lunch ?"-Asuka asked as Rei handed over her and Shinji two bentos . The three of them sat down on the ground and began to eat up their food
"How long will you take to finish the motorcycle ?"-Rei asked as Shinji stopped eating
"Two more days , tomorrow we're gonna install the NOS and fuel tank and finally start up the HS to see if my intuition hasn't failed me in that"-Shinji said as Asuka shaked his arm
"There's a 100% chance that it will work , I supervised you during the construction process so I'm sure it will work"-Asuka said as she returned to her food . After two hours of eating numerous Bentos in different shapes and sizes Shinji and Asuka were filled up not only with food but also with energy .
"Wow Rei , do you do anything except preparing Bentos for us ?"-Asuka asked as Rei turned over to her while packing the empty Bento boxes
"Since i don't have any other things or hobbies to take my time i've spent the last few days cooking for you since the neutricians and proteins that both of you require to finish the Highway Star cannot be provided by the cafeteria and vending machine food . Henceforth i decided to keep providing you with food that gives you the necessary energy to continue your work"-Rei finished her monologue as she gave her brother and friend new sets of clothes
"I'll be back tomorrow to bring you more clothes and food , goodbye"-Rei said as she left the room
"See ya , love you sis !"-Shinji said as he and Asuka got to work on the dics and the wheels while also setting on the new brake discs and disc covers. After hours of work Shinji started the ignition to check if the discs were online . And as they glow a green line he revved a bit to see if sparks were flying out
"So , we are finished with the disc problem ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji showed a thumbs up ,switched off the ignition and sat down on the floor and fell asleep . Asuka chuckled and snuggled to Shinji before kissing him on the cheek . 'See ? And a few days ago you were so close to giving up . What do we do when fall ? So we can get back up . And i'll help you to get back up'-Asuka thought as she also drifted off to sleep using Shinji's chest as a pillow
DAY FOUR
Asuka woke up from Shinji's chest as she looked at the Highway Star and then at the window to see her own reflection . Her hair was completely messed up and she had bags under her eyes not to mention she smelled terrible , but at least she made her boyfriend happier . She wouldn't want him to turn into a spineless hedgehog crybaby , right ? Asuka stood up and grabbed one of the drinks she and Shinji bought on day one . She opened the bottle and quickly jugged it down . As she threw the bottle away Shinji got up from the floor.
"Morning Asuka"-Shinji said as he kissed her girlfriend on the lips
"You don't look so good , perhaps sleeping on the floor tires the man"-Asuka said as Shinji also began to jug down one of the drinks.
"Well , I would like you to be my pillow for tonight and you'll see how much it hurts . Besides, your boinkers are pretty good to put my head on , as I know from experience"-Shinji said as Asuka looked at him snidely. As they wanted to prepare to work they heard knocking on the door . As they opened it as always during the last few days it revealed Rei again with Bentos prepared for devouring by Shinji and Asuka . As Rei came inside she immediately took out two Bentos out of her bag as the tired duo of a self proclaimed mechanic and engineer and child prodigy snatched two boxes and Rei smiled while the trio sat down on the ground and began to eat their food . As they finished Rei took a look at the Highway Star that was already standing on its two wheels and side stand
"So what do you have to do today ?"-Rei asked as Asuka pointed to the unattached fuel tank
"We install the liquid systems and finally start the bike up instead of just igniting it"-Asuka said as Shinji looked at the NOS bottle and lights
"Not only that , also NOS system and lights , not to mention getting fuel both regular and rocket one for the second half of the fuel tank"-Shinji said as he again pointed at the fuel tank that was longer and sharper than the original
"So that's why everything is longer than stock and the first HS"-Asuka said as she looked at the frame and than compared the parameters of stock SC28
"Yep , and that's the reason we modified the engine's slash exhaust to have mirrored fuel intakes , same reason for the rubber pipes , like I said . The button sends injection from the second half of the tank directly by those pipes to the engines . Fuel goes in , sparks go out and we have temporary 7 second boost that according to my calculations by good wind and weather can get this Mean piece of engineering gloryness a 200 km/h boost"-Shinji finished his monologue as he put aside his bento
"So are you gonna get fuel ?"-Rei asked as Shinji lost his voice. 'Shit , now i haven't thought about it'-he thought as Asuka lifted a finger
"I got it ! NERV has a garage for their vehicles right ? We can sneak in n and steal a barrel , same with rocket fuel"-Asuka announced as Shinji looked at the new fresh NOS system that replaced the bottle that was inside since 2008 due to it being trashed by Shinji only few components could be used again
"How about the N2O system ?"-Shinji asked as this time Asuka lost her voice
"Doctor Akagi has nitrous oxide in her office"-Rei broke the awkward silence and in a blink of a second Shinji hugged his sister
"You're a genius Rei !"-Shinji said as Asuka told them what the plan was and the trio left the room with the cart as they made their way towards the garage that the technical crew and section 2 used . After a long 30 minute trip across numerous corridors and elevators they finally heard sounds of cars and found themselves in the technical crew garage with numerous people working on cars.
"There !"-Asuka said as she pointed her finger at the barrels of pure gasoline , Shinji silently managed to sneak out the hiding spot and tried to localize the best fuel . '95 , 98 , THERE 100 !'-he thought as he grabbed the barrel and silently managed to sneak back towards the girls as he put the barrel on the cart and the trio runned away
"See ?! Thanks to my great plan we now have 1 out of 3 liquids necessary !"-Asuka said as they rushed back to the workroom to put the barrel back
"So , what is the plan ?"-Shinji asked as he grabbed the NOS bottle
"We split up , me and Rei are going to the airstrip to get the rocket fuel while you go to Akagi's office to get that dear Nitrous Oxide you require"-Asuka said as Shinji nodded in agreement
"I can agree to that"-Shinji said as they made their way to their destinations . After they separated in one of their corridors Shinji silently made his way towards Ritsuko's office . 'Here we go'-he thought as he opened the door to reveal Misato and Ritsuko
"Oh Shinji-kun ! Holy mother you look terrible , when was the last time you washed yourself ?"-Misato asked as Shinji's facial expression changed from confident to freaked out. 'Shit'-he thought
"I just came to ask about nitrous oxide , Rei told me that you have it around here Ritsu"-Shinji said as Ritsuko noticed the bottle he had under his arm
"Lemme guess , you are rebuilding your motorcycle and you need the Nitrous Oxide to boost up the performance of your motorcycle . Am i correct ?"-Ritsuko asked as Shinji nodded and agreement
"Yes , and I want to ask if you can give me some precious N2O ? And yes , i really need it since all the apertures i used to fill them out by myself i left back home . So Please"-Shinji asked as Misato looked at him with a mix of surprise and shock . 'Did he really ask for help ?'-Misato thought as Ritsuko sighed
"Ok , give me the bottle and i will fill it out"-Ritsuko said as Shinji gave her the bottle and after 15 minutes of waiting Ritsuko came back with completely filled out bottle
"There you go , a completely filled out bottle . And please go wash yourself"-Ritsuko said as Shinji grabbed the bottle and jolted off out of the room
"Where was the last time he took a shower ?"-Ritsuko asked as Misato took a sip of her coffee
"He's been in the geofront for the last 4 days , i don't think he saw sunlight for a long time"-Misato replied as Ritsuko spat out her cigarette
"Misato what the hell ?!"-Ritsuko asked as it was the last thing that Shinji heard as he jolted back to the workroom. After 30 minutes he finally reached the work room and found Asuka and Rei waiting for him with the rocket fuel barrel already waiting for him
"Oh there you are"-Asuka announced as Shinji put down the NOS bottle
"Sorry , it took longer than expected"-Shinji said as he , Asuka and Rei sat down on the ground and began to eat the lunch that Rei brought them , after an hour they finished their food as Rei again brought them new clothes and packed the empty bento boxes. As she was packing her things Shinji got an idea 'Wait ! She can print me out the graphics for the HS ! Instead of again asking for help from another person'-Shinji thought as he immediately opened his laptop where he had the sticker sheet designed for the HS finale and download it to a memory stick
"Hey Rei ! Tomorrow before you come here , Please print out this sticker sheet for us . All the dimensions are on the memory stick"-Shinji said as Rei took the memory stick from Shinji's hand
"I can do that , goodbye"-Rei said as she left the room
"Ok , we'll split off , you'll get the cool part and you will install the fuel tank and connect the fuel lines while i install the seat and prepare the NOS system"-Shinji said as they got to work , Asuka installed the fuel tank and connected all the fuel lines including connecting it with the rubber pipes that were connected with the rocket engines , Shinji meanwhile managed to install the NOS system hidden under the seat as well as a parachute brake using an rc model kit and a runners parachute while managing to connect the rest of the electronics , including the new led lights . Asuka also managed to connect the wheely roll bar that was supposed to keep the motorcycle balanced while using the additional power provided by the rocket engines . As they finished their work Misato walked into the room
"Hey , so i need to know if i have to bring the trailer tomorrow or-oh i see that you almost finished"-Misato said as Asuka crossed her arms
"Actually we were supposed to test it out !"-Asuka said as Misato looked excited
"Then test it out !"-Misato said as Shinji got on the bike and flicked three switches on the side of the display. 'All right , here we go'-he thought as he began the ignition sequence before finally grabbing the clutch and pressing the button that he knew certainly was a starter since being a faster bike than the old HS it required more physical buttons to be on the handlebars for faster reach. As the engine started Misato put her hands on her ears as the thunderous sound was sent across the geofront as not only the main but also the side rocket engines started a cacophony of screams . Shinji revved the bike as the sounds were getting louder and louder and looked at the display and noticed that the revs weren't even reaching the first line that started at 10000 rpm while the redline was at 90000 rpm . 'created the greatest monster on two wheels , period'-he thought as he got off his bike with wiggly legs as Misato's face went pale
"Well , it definitely works , i'll bring the trailer tomorrow , just finish putting on the fairings"-Misato said as she left and the duo finally fell asleep satisfied that their work was almost finished
DAY FIVE
The duo woke up the next day as they took a look across the tiny room and how big of a mess they made during those five days
"We should really clean this up"-Shinji said as he got up before Asuka shaked his arm
"Who cares ? Nobody comes to this room !"-Asuka said as they decided to clean up the tools they wouldn't need and put them back in their carrying cases . As they finished cleaning Rei walked in the room this time not only with Bentos but also giant sticker sheet she carried
"Rei ! You are here ! And you brought stickers !"-Shinji said as Rei gave them their bentos and put the sticker sheet on the ground as they began to eat their breakfast
"Why do you need those stickers ?"-Rei asked as Shinji quickly wolfed down his food
"To make it cool of course , i've always put the stickers on this motorcycle ever since i was six"-Shinji said as Asuka also finished her food
"Ok , since you are here you can help us . While we put on the fairings you can clean the trash so that we can go home and prepare for the final test"-Asuka said as Rei nodded and they all got to work , As Shinji and Asuka were putting on the fairings Rei was cleaning the trash , empty boxes and tools . As they finished screwing on the fairings Shinji got to work on the stickers according to the plans he had on his Laptop and after 10 minutes all the stickers were done. After 10 minutes passed, only 1 sticker was left . That was the CIRCUS-1 sticker as he putted it on left side of the motorcycle and the trio looked at it , compared to the original the finale was way more sharper than the original with complete lack are rounded up parts this didn't mean that the HS couldn't cut wind like knife , it was also longer to fit new rocket engine installation as it now had two exhaust pipes that were connected with the rocket engines ended up with a wheelie roll bar and a parachute brake .The display screen remained pretty much the same with the only difference being that most of the acts being carried out with physical buttons with switches for diffrent functions being on the sides of the touchscreen . The front fairing was also sharpened out with it being in a triangular shape instead of the classic rounded look
"Well then , it's finally done , the Highway Star finale. The magnum opus of almost a decade of mods"-Shinji said as the trio looked at the motorcycle
"Alrighty then , I'll call Misato and tell her to wait for us . While me and Rei are gonna push the cart with packed stuff you will get the HS using that cargo elevator up on the parking lot"-Asuka said as Shinji nodded and pushed the motorcycle out of the workroom and made his way towards the cargo elevator. As he got inside it he pressed the button and could feel the elevator struggle with the weight he and the HS were putting down on the elevator . Slowly but steady he managed to get on the parking lot as he pushed the motorcycle out of the elevator he noticed Rei , Misato and Asuka waiting for him with Alpine already started
"Now it looks more cyberpunky than ever , you really like those sharp corners Shinji"-Misato said as she helped him load the motorcycle on the trailer. After 5 minutes of putting tons of equipment in the trunk of the alpine, the quartet left the Geofront as Shinji and Asuka for the first time in 5 days finally saw sunlight .While they were driving Shinji finally finished the protection program while downloading an app that would connect with a chip installed inside the HS that allowed him to start up the ignition sequence by using his phone. 'Now i don't have to worry about some idiot trying to steal my bike , if he could even start it out'-Shinji thought as he put his phone back in his pants pocket. After 30 minutes of driving the group reached the apartment as Shinji Asuka and Rei took the motorcycle off the trailer and began to unload the boxes with equipment while Misato unconnected the trailer
"So , what is your plan now ?"-Misato asked as Shinji looked upon her
"Now , shower and bath , after that we go to the JSSDF airport to test out the max performance"-Shinji said as Misato looked at the HS finale and went pale
"Shinji , respect. Not only for designing this but also having balls to test it"-Misato said as she got inside her Alpine and left. Meanwhile the trio left towards the apartment to unload the boxes with tools and equipment. As they went inside they all put down the boxes in the corridor
"NOW SHOWER !"-Asuka announced as she grabbed Shinji's hand and both of them jolted toward towards the bathroom while Rei just sighed and went to her room and Shinji's room to prepare them new clothes and underwear , and since she heard what was Shinji's plan she took out the biker clothes out of their drawers and she put them down in front of the bathroom door. After 30 minutes of showering , washing teeth and doing hair Shinji took a look hiding his body behind the bathroom door to see if he could quickly get to his room before noticing the clothes beneath him
"Thanks Rei !"-Shinji said as he grabbed the pile of clothes and gave Asuka her clothes while Shinji put his biker clothes on while Asuka did the same thing , after another five minutes Shinji and Asuka were ready to start the test and left the bathroom
"Now that's more like it ! The only thing missing is my jacket"-Shinji said as Rei revealed herself out of the corner holding Shinji's Jacket all stitched up
"I fixed it , i also added two additional inside pockets for your firearms"-Rei said as Shinji took it from Rei's hands and noticed the pockets holding Shinji's 21a and Px4 . Shinji put the jacket on and hugged his sister
"Thanks Rei , wait . Did you also fix my helmet ?"-Shinji asked as he noticed his helmet on the table
"Correct , I only had to switch the protective visor . Sadly i couldn't fix the dents and damage"-Rei said as Shinji hugged his sister again while Asuka packed Shinji's laptop to his sports bag
"Ok , we're now living to the airport to do the test , see ya Rei !"-Asuka said as the duo rushed out of the apartment in excitement, forgot to take the elevator instead of running down the stairs . In seconds they found themselves on the parking lot
"Ready ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji nodded and took out his phone to start the ignition sequence before the two got on the bike
"Wow , there really is a lot more space"-Shinji thought as he began the rest of the sequence. 'Ok , flick those two here on the right , flick this to ignite the rocket engines , flick this to arm the parachute , flick those three on the left to arm the NOS , grab the clutch . And press the starter and now , now this is a fighter jet on wheels !"-Shinji said as the roar of the rocket engines and modified SC28 sound echoed across the calm parking lot
"I'll tell you where to go , for now max gear two"-Asuka said as Shinji switched to reverse and began to make their way towards the JSSDF airport that Asuka thought it would be perfect to test the max performance as it had a 10 km runway . Shinji meanwhile was focused on the display as he was astounded looking at the two main clocks , the rpm meter and the kilometer counter weren't even reaching the second line , while the oil pressure was reaching medium , the display was also showing the fuel levels of both the regular tank and the rocket engine tank and the energy of both the drive discs . After leaving the main city the duo found themselves standing in front of the gate to the JSSDF airport
"Hey ! This is military terrain for the T-RIDEN-T program ! Turn around immediately !"-One of the security guards said as Shinji handed over his NERV card
"Oh ok , have fun i guess"-one of the guards said as Shinji and Asuka got though the gate while hearing them having a conversation about how NERV personnel and pilots being able to access everything the JSSDF offers
"Oh look ! The robotic dinosaurs !"-Asuka said as she pointed at the three T-RIDEN-T's standing next to each teacher and 15 meters or so from the runway they wanted to use. Both of them got off the bike as they started to prepare for the test
"Alright this is it , this is the day we both sign in history"-Asuka said as she pressed her forehead to Shinji's before kissing him
"For luck"-She said snidely as she gave him his helmet
"All right , gimme the foam for ears and we can begin"-Shinji said as Asuka gave him two pieces of foam as he put them inside his ears
"Shinji ?"-Another voice said as Shinji and turned their heads to see Mana alongside Musashi and Keita
"Oh Mana , I should be expecting that since this is JSSDF airport . But at least you'll be able to see my greatest accomplishment , at least for now"-Shinji said as Mana's face went pale as she saw the rocket engines inplace of the exhaust pipes
"Is that a Honda , strapped to a Rocket engine ?"-Musashi asked as Asuka turned her face away from the laptop
"Two rocket engines , thanks to your mechanical dinosaur program that bankrupted the flying platform program we were able to obtain two of these and put them inside this"-Asuka said as the T-RIDEN-T trio was looking at the two rocket engines getting ready as sound that could normally be heard from an old fighter plane was now coming from the "Exhausts"
"That was 10-second in stock , now it's a 2-second bike , pretty cool right ?"-Shinji said as put wrappers on his hands
"No , no this is not cool . This is a suicide machine"-Keita said as Mana grabbed Shinji by the shoulders
"I get it Shinji, you love speed , you always did . But playing with rockets is just plain suicide ! No living man has a chance to control such a thing !"-Mana screamed as she was now shaking his arms
"I can"-Shinji replied as he tried to keep a poker face as Mana looked more and more annoyed
"Didn't we just talk a week ago about things you can lose ?"-Mana asked rhetorically as Asuka thought it was a good time to get involved in the conversation .
"I get it you care for his safety , but it doesn't mean you can cut down his wings ! Besides we spent 5 days building this bike so we want to test it out"-Asuka said as Mana looked at her . 'So that must be Asuka , so that's why Shinji loves her so much , both of them love to take chances , what to expect from Eva pilots ?'-Mana thought as she backed down while Asuka had a smug grin. 'There you go'- she thought as Shinji put on his helmet on on slid down the visor
"Don't worry Mana , everything will be ok . Just look at the laptop and you'll see everything"-Shinji said as he laid down on the bike and was ready to go as Mana Keita and Musashi went up to Asuka and looked at the laptop that already had the performance check program booted up as a bigger version of the display was seen on the screen . Asuka put her headset on as she looked at Shinji
"Ok , five lights , four lights , three lights , two lights , GO GO GO !"-Asuka screamed as Shinji twisted the throttle and blasted away as the T-TRIDEN-T trio covered their ears Shinji was already blasted away as all of them looked at the screen
"170 kilometers in just 3 seconds , it really is a two second bike"-Mana said as she and Asuka looked at Shinji jolting away with both of them thinking 'be careful Shinji'. Shinji meanwhile felt like freshly borned as he was looking at the display and then at the road that seemed flying like a speeding bullet . 'Holy shit ! 390 ! Just a minute after starting ! COME ON !'-Shinji thought as he switched to gear 4 and felt his body being hyper pressed to the seat he was now laying on . '440 , 450 , 460 , 470 ,475 , 480 , NOW NOS TIME !'-Shinji thought as he pressed the trigger of the N2O system and felt the HS getting more and more speed as he managed to look at the display that showed 590 km/h with 65000 rpm on gear 5. Shinji grabbed the clutch and switched gear 6 and put his finger on the trigger of the rocket system. Meanwhile at the starting line Mana looked like she was going to pass out
"Asuka , isn't that enough ?"-Mana asked as Asuka looked at Shinji slowly climbing to 610 km/h
"No , he still had not use the rocket boost"-Asuka said as Mana looked like a deer in a headlights
"So he still hasn't used it ?!"-Mana asked as Asuka shook her head
"Come on Shinji"-Asuka said as meanwhile Shinji finally decided to activate the rocket engines and pressed the button that resulted in a message on the display that said 'PRISS ENHANCERS-ACTIVATED' and felt the engine completely stop , a second or so passed before two streaks emerged from the rocket engines and immediately lifted it on one wheel with only the wheelie roll bar stopping it from tripping over . Shinji meanwhile felt his back being whipped by air as he managed to put it back down on two wheels , 'It looked way easier in Bubblegum Crisis'-Shinji thought as the streaks stopped and the main engine returned to running as he noticed that he was reaching the redline on the kilometer counter . '710 , 715 , 720 !'-He thought as few kilometers back Asuka jumped up in excitement
"YES ! 720 KILOMETERS PER HOUR !"-Asuka exclaimed as meanwhile Shinji thought it was time to go home and somehow managed to pressed the button that activated the parachute as he also used the front and rear brake as after a minute or so he managed to stop as the Highway Star finale was standing still as on the other side of the runway Mana finally let her breath out. Shinji put the bike on the side stand and fell down from the seat and laid down on the ground completely exhausted . After a few seconds he managed to get up and look down at his motorcycle . He started to laugh as he clapped the seat in excitement . 'YES ! Kaneda and the rest will have to clean up their drool after they see this'-Shinji thought as he began to pack the parachute back and took off his helmet and got back on the motorcycle and slowly managed to crawl back to the start as Asuka rushed to him as he switched off the bike and put it on a side stand as Asuka jumped on him and kissed him
"We done it ! Now to get it to Bonneville and give it the official speed record !"-Asuka said as Shinji smiled and both of them fell down on the grass as the T-RIDEN-T trio could only think . 'What the fuck ?' with Mana thinking 'Wow Shinji , you really crossed the line . You finally did it . I'm both shocked and afraid of what you will do next'-Mana thought . Meanwhile in the Geofront Misato , Maya and Ritsuko looked at the new angel. A giant floating orange satellite-looking creature codenamed "Sahaquiel"
"The angel will be falling down at 45 angle straight to the geofront from the orbit"-Ritsuko said as she showed the trajectory counted by the MAGI
"Therefore we need to catch it , here !"- Misato said as pointed at the point where the angel would begin its trip underground
"But that's 90 kilometers away from Neogoya"-Maya said as Misato's facial expression changed to the one of disgust
"And that means spending a week or so there after the battle for the paperwork and to complete transport evas and NERV equipment back to Tokyo 3 since NERV lacks a grip there . Not to mention the corporations and meetings we will have to deal with , true No Man's land"-Ritsuko said as Misato facepalmed
"Worst vacation ever , but Shinji will be happy , i'll go get ready the transport for his bike since he woulndt look at me if i hadnt organize that and the rest of the operation , send the information to the kids , i need a beer"-Misato thought as she walked away from the central dogma
A/N : So quick and so long ? YES ! This arc is wrapped up and a short Homecoming arc is coming ! (I wasn't trying to rhyme, I swear). I wanted to show here that Shinji also needs help sometimes . And yes Sahaquiel is changed since he falls from a different angle instead of straight down
