Chapter 32 : tracks in memory lane
"Ok , camera set ?"-Shinji asked as Asuka nodded while setting up the tripod with Shinji's phone mounted on it. After Shinji came back home from his assignment Misato of course lashed out on him while Asuka felt a sting of jealousy that Shinji handed over the task of managing his future career to Mayumi but on second thought knowing that she is better suited and educated than her. So to appeal and help to Shinji's future she swallowed her pride and agreed to that. The next day Shinji decided he finally wanted to test the Highway Star on the dynamometer in his workshop
"Eh Shinji ? Why do we even test it again ? I mean, just a few days ago you broke the land speed record on a motorcycle , so why test it on a dynamometer ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji frowned while connecting the HS finale to the dynamometer
"The reason is my body literally falls apart while reaching the v-max , that's why i want to reach it while not having my back being ripped apart"-Shinji said as he started the HS
"Ok , now please start the camera"-Shinji added as Asuka went towards the tripod and started the camera rolling
"Hello , this the V-Max test of the HS finale , i'll now begin"-Shinji said as he took off his Shirt and got on the HS finale and twisted the throttle as he felt the roar of the three engines on his legs , Shinji switched to gear two as continued his narration
"As you can see the HS Finale requires its main power unit to be non-stop on high RPM , i would say that 15000 rpm is the bare minimum"-Shinji said as his voice wasnt probably well recorded due to the roar of the engines while Asuka put on some earmuffs to cover her ears. Shinji meanwhile began to feel that his body was starting to give up as his back acted like it received a series of punches on the back. Shinji dug through the pain as hard as he could before he noticed that the dynamometer was showing 520 km/h. 'So that is as far without using the enhancers , looks like it's time for them to shine , i only hope that the 30 tapes from both sides will hold it tight'-Shinji thought as he prepared to put his finger on the trigger as Asuka was looking at Shinji and immediately knew what he was planning. 'Oh no , this is either gonna end terribly or well , with the first one a higher possibility'-Asuka thought as she closed her eyes to not see the terrible view that she expected. Shinji meanwhile closed his eyes and pressed the trigger as he pushed his body to the ground as hard as he could before the two rocket engines roared away as Shinji was looking at the dynamometer that quickly climbed up 650 before finally reaching 720. 'Ok , now to stop'-he thought as he began to let down the throttle before after a minute stopping the HS finale as he climbed down and fell down from exhaustion as Asuka runned towards him
"You ok ?"-Asuka asked as she quickly examined his face
"R-relax , you r-really think that i-i would die b-before you ?"-Shinji asked as Asuka blushed
"Shut up you dummy"-Asuka said as she kissed him on the mouth
"Well , at least now we know that it wasn't the track that made us lucky , 720 though and though"-Shinji said as he got up on his legs as Asuka put her hand on her mouth in shock. Shinji's back looked like it was ripped.
"Shinji , your back"-Asuka said as Shinji touched his back before feeling a tinge of pain
"Ow ! Fuck , it wasn't as painful as it was the first time"-Shinji said as he made his way towards the fridge to grab himself a drink
"So , even your body cannot withstand the power of the HS Finale"-Asuka said as Shinji jugged down a can of soda
"That's pretty expected for a record breaking bike that isn't a streamliner , even Priss was wearing a hardsuit when she was riding her bike"-Shinji said as he threw the can to the trashcan while in Asuka's head a red light bulb lit up
"Therefore we will have to build one"-Asuka said as Shinji turned back to her before exploding in laughter
"Asuka , that's impossible ! Building a literal hardsuit would be impossible judging by my posture and the level of technology"-Shinji said as Asuka frowned
"I don't mean building a literal replica , something that can hold your body tight so it won't begin to fall apart , also a better helmet , not to mention that it won't attract your old man from our , other activities"-Asuka said as Shinji began to listen to what she said.
"The question is how to do that ? It's not like to build around a plug suit with-oh i am Genius !"-Shinji said as he lifted his fist in the air
"Well , that is possible . But it would have to require a special design plugsuit , with some material that will cover the sensitive spots , and that would mean cutting out all the synchronization tech out of it. Not to mention the covers of legs , shins and arms. That would have to be somehow connected with the supposed system in the helmet"-Asuka said as Shinji disconnected the HS finale from the dynamometer while trying to not get close to the hot tyres before turning away towards Asuka
"So we have to design a semi-Iron Man armor mixed with a design of a Hardsuit ? Ok , this will be easy. A last hurrah of my street racing career before going pro , but i'll leave that for after this vacation"-Shinji said as he put on his shirt before putting on his jacket while Asuka stopped recording on Shinji's phone and handed it over to him
"Looks like i'm gonna have to cut off a lot of material"-Shinji said as he pushed out the bike out of the warehouse and packed his laptop alongside a memory stick that was connected with the dynamometer in his backpack
"So , we're going home ?"-Asuka asked as she as she put on Shinji's helmet while he was shutting down the equipment and closed the warehouse door
"Well , now we will go to a 7/11 near my apartment to get groceries , after that i'll go spend some time with Rei"-Shinji said as Asuka nodded and got on the back of the HS Finale before Shinji closed the gate before he and Asuka made their way towards the 8th district. As they made their way back to Shinji's apartment Asuka as always was focused on the weird architecture of Neogoya as she looked at the smog-filled sky that was covering the clouds. After another hour Shinji and Asuka reached the apartment complex.
"Ok , first 7/11 and then home and break"-Shinji said as he put the HS finale in the car elevator before the duo made their way to the nearest 7/11. Compare it to the Tokyo 3 7/11 locations Asuka could say that it looked just like the rest of Neogoya that wasn't shown in the posters , so really obscure. As they walked in they heard the music coming out of the radio alongside the calming sound of fans. Shinji grabbed the drinks and other groceries before walking up to the counter.
"Hello Ikari-san , lemme guess , this and Marlboro reds ?"-The female cashier asked as Shinji nodded as she began to count the products before taking out a pack of Marlboro reds and also counting it
"2255,75 yen"-the cashier said as Shinji took out his NERV card and swiped it on the terminal while Asuka packed the groceries to Shinji's backpack before they left the 7/11 and made their way back to Shinji's apartment
"So most of the people around here know who you are by name ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji nodded
"Before the whole angel thing in Neogoya i was mostly known as the Highway Star except for few of the streets around here , since i grew up around here so i probably introduced myself , but i don't remember correctly , lets just say the period between me coming here and me going to daycare is pretty blank , so aside from Mayumi i can say that my brain has put it on negative canon , or maybe i just have a blank''-Shinji said as Asuka nodded while pondering what did Shinji mean. But she decided not to ask him about that before both of them found themselves in the elevator as they began to ride up towards the 16th floor. As they reached their floor both of them made their way towards Shinji's apartment
"We're home !"-Shinji said as he and Asuka took off their shoes and walked into Shinji's room
"Where is Rei ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji felt a ting of danger as he took out his pistol before going back to living room to check if they simply didn't notice Rei before Shinji started to panic
"Holy shit , i can't believe i lost her !"-Shinji said as Asuka took a look at the Bathroom window to see Rei as she let out a sigh
"Shinji , i think i found her"-Asuka said as Rei walked out of the toilet with only a towel covering her body as Shinji turned over and sighed
"You could've said that you were taking shower Rei !"-Shinji said as he hugged Rei
"I thought that it would've been obvious"-Rei said as Shinji left the hug and took a breath in
"Rei , in Tokyo 3 maybe , but how many times i've said that Neogoya is dangerous , and it may be a little paranoic from me but i don't want you to wander around here alone, so please don't scare me like that"-Shinji said as Rei nodded before making her way towards Shinji's room to get changed.
"Maybe i should begin the work on launch"-Shinji said as he took out the groceries and began to work on some quick Miso soup for the trio. After another hour of cooking Shinji poured the Miso soup into three bowls before they sat down and began to eat.
"So Shinji , after launch you take Rei on a trip across Neogoya right ?"-Asuka asked as both Shinji and Rei nodded
"I promised her that i would take her around the city for a short trip and spend some quality sibling time"-Shinji said as he heard the phone call in the kitchen before he walked up to pick it up
"Ikari residence"
"Hey Shinji its Mayumi , i took a look across the papers and contract negotiations and made a few calls , and i think i got you a ride"-Mayumi said over the phone as Shinji almost jumped in excitement
"Tell me who is it ?"-Shinji said as Asuka and Rei looked at him as Asuka began to listen to what Shinji heard
"Thanks to your Mild Seven backing i managed you to get a ride with a midfield team that now has problems with money due to their main sponsor , Philip Morris leaving MFJ"-Mayumi said as on the other side of the phone Mayumi was jugging down another coffee as she was looking at the tons of papers that she studied after her return
"Ok , but what bikes are they running ?"-Shinji asked as he of course wanted to ride on a honda but judging how most Honda teams were full during MFJ 2014 and beginning of 2015 season were filled with riders for the next season.
"Well , they are running Kawasaki ninja 1000's . My uncle already made the arrangements and it's ready to sign , i just have to send my confirmation"-Mayumi said as Shinji thought about it. 'Kawasaki ? Well , at least it's not Suzuki , it will be a nice change of a machine and see if i can work on the greens as good as on Hondas, Takuro's dream of a number 1 on a Kawasaki will finally see the light of day '-Shinji thought as he looked at Asuka and had to consult it with her
"Give me few minutes and i'll call you back"-Shinji said as he put down the phone
"Ok , what did she said ?"-Asuka asked as she walked up to Shinji
"Mayumi found me a drive , it's a privateer team that runs Kawasaki's with the factory support and are now falling down because of the lack of sponsors , so essentially i'll be a payrider"-Shinji said as Asuka's look turn to excitement
"Well what do you wait for ?! Call her back and accept it ! It may not be an easy climb to the championship but starting from the middle and climbing up will make it more exciting ! Who cares if it's not a Honda , in a year or two Honda or some Europeans will beg you to race for them !"-Asuka proudly announced as Shinji nodded. 'Eh , whatever happens happens'-he thought as grabbed the phone and inserted Mayumi's number
"So ?"-She asked as Shinji grabbed a nearest soda can and jugged it down before throwing it away
"I agree , sign it"-Shinji said as Mayumi looked excited on the other side of the phone
"Great ! My uncle already made arrangements with them so you only need to wait for the conference , your documents have been sent so you don't have to worry about it either. Congrats on your first step towards a big career , i'll be calling you if i have more info"-Mayumi said as she hanged up the call while Shinji putted down the phone
"So , now it's official , next year you switch the Honda for the Kawasaki ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji nodded
"Yeah , Takuro's dream of a number 1 on a front fairing of a Kawa will happen soon"-Shinji said as he grabbed another soda can
"About Takuro , you still search for the guy that sent him away to the other world ?"-Asuka asked as Shinji squeezed the soda can he held in his hand. Thanks to all the filler that was now taking priority in Shinji's life he forgot one of the reasons he agreed on leaving Neogoya and traveling to Tokyo 3 , and that was to find Takuro's supposed killer and deliver justice. But judging what he had to lose and what satisfaction it would bring him, it was an 80/20 situation with Shinji being left on the choice of what to pick. But then he thought about what others that helped him to get his dream shot in the big leagues , how it would've been a waste to everyone's work. He still didn't have any answer for the question Asuka was asking him
"To be completely honest with you , I don't know. Judging by how now the entire planet is at stake even after defeating the angels , let's just say that if I get a shot at the guy I'll take it. It's just I don't think that I'll kill him but I'll do something else . Anyways you should prepare for our little trip Rei , i'll go clean the dishes"-Shinji said as Rei nodded and went back to Shinji's room to change clothes as Shinji grabbed the bowels and made his way towards the sink. Another 10 minutes passed as Rei came out of Shinji room wearing blue jeans and a white blouse
"Im ready brother"-Rei said as Shinji smiled and both of them made their way towards the elevator. As they got into the elevator Rei was looking at her brother and recognised that he was hiding something from her. She decided to wait to ask him what he was hiding from her. 'Does my brother not trust me ?'-Rei thought as the elevator reached the ground floor and Shinji and Rei got off the elevator and both of them made their way towards the car elevator as Shinji inserted the code Rei was observing the reveal of HS finale from behind the elevator door as Shinji runned over to it and started it as Rei could only watch as she never ridden the new version of the Highway Star.
"Come on Rei , i'm gonna show you few places around here"-Shinji said as Rei nodded and got on the HS Finale as they began to made their way as Rei looked at what was under her shoes as the Priss enhancers while not activated were still hot as she was taking a look at the display that was showing the speed , rpm , the oil temperature , and the subsystems that were responsible for the Enhancers and the nitrous systems as she thought how skilled Shinji was and what he wanted to accomplish , for years she thought that the scenario that commander Ikari was planning would be the best for the entire world. But during her time with Shinji and seeing how far a human's ingenuity and willpower can be pushed towards the extreme. And when she listened to how Shinji was happy to be able to begin a professional racing career she felt something that just a few months ago would never happen , she felt her heart sink deep within her. For the first time she felt that commander Ikari's scenario was utterly selfish and only served her his own ends. Which for any other person would've been completely obvious , aside from Rei that was literally bred to get the scenario to proceed and being inserted with drugs to make her an obedient doll. Rei looked at her hand as she felt that the motorcycle was beginning to slow down as she noticed a giant building complex in front of them
"Where are we, brother ?"-Rei asked as Shinji parked his bike
"This is where it all began , the 8th district orphanage , i decide it to take you for a trip down the memory lane , come on"-Shinji said as he stopped the bike in an alleyway before both of them got off the HS finale
"Oh , this alley brings back memories. Oh , this trash container is still here"-Shinji said as he pointed towards a container standing few meters away
"Why does a container play such an important rule brother ?"-Rei asked as Shinji grinned before closing his eyes and litting up a cigarette
"Well , right in this container the first steps of The Capsules were founded , sit tight and listen to the story"-Shinji said as begun the trip down the memory lane

8TH DISTRICT ORPHANAGE
"Wait what ?! Suzuki scored a podium in the UK ? HELL YEAH !"-Tetsuo excitedly announced as he jumped in the air in excitement while Shinji and Takuro had a frawn on their faces
"One podium and you're excited ? Really Tetsuo ?"-Shinji asked as he , Takuro and Kaneda shared a look
"Ah, who cares about Suzuki ? Yamaha is easily climbing towards the championship ! Honda will need to step up towards them if they want to get the throne back from Doctor and Yamaha"-Kaneda said as Tetsuo stopped fan ecstasy before looking at Kaneda
"Just wait a few years and Suzuki will finally retake the championship , BOTH OF THEM !"-Tetsuo loudly said as the quartet heard a sound of Motorcycle engines stopping as the five-year olds attention shifted towards the few older boys wearing clown makeup
"Shit , the clowns"-Kaneda said as Shinji looked like he was a deer standing in front of the headlights.
"You four , money , phones , and the Walkman"-One of them said as Shinji looked at his SDAT and knew that he wouldn't hand it over
"Yeah , how about , NO !"-Kaneda said as he kicked one of the Clowns in the groin before the quartet began to escape the clowns. As they runned Kaneda leaded them as they were trying to lose the chase before managing to get away from them so that they could've come up with a plan
"OK ! THERE IS AN ALLEYWAY AROUND HERE WITH A TRASH CONTAINER ! WE JUMP THERE AND WAIT FOR THEM TO LOSE INTEREST !"-Kaneda said as everyone in the group immediately agreed as they finally reached the alleyway before opening the container hatch and jumped inside the container before closing the hatch
"Now everyone stay silent"-Shinji said as they sat holding their knees while trying not to move even a finger. As they sat the sound of shoes reached the alleyway all of them became still in fear
"They probably escaped , we will get them next time"-One of them said as the quartet could sighed in peace
"What about this container ?"-One of them said as the quartet became stiff again
"Are you dumb ? Those are brats ! They wouldn't jump inside a trash container , let's bail out and get something to drink"-Another one said as they left the alleyway and after 5 minutes they left the container.
"Holy shit, that was close we're lucky that they were so stupid. I swear to god we need to do something or we will be bullied to the rest of our lives by the clowns"-Shinji said as Kaneda looked at the sun that somehow managed the shine though the clouds
"No , they won't"-Kaneda said as the rest of quartet turned towards him
"We're gonna create our own gang , one that is bigger and stronger. And that will focus most of their time on declaring war on the clowns ! So who's with me ?"-Kaneda asked as the rest of the quartet lifted up their hands in the air as an agreement sign
"And that's how the Capsules , well at least the foundation of it were born"-Shinji said as he noticed Rei sitting on the ground
"Rei , why are you sitting on the ground ?"-Shinji asked as he threw away the cigarette to the ground
"You said that i should sit on the ground so i did how you asked"-Rei said as Shinji put his hand on his forehead
"I really need to teach you about metaphors , anyways behind the walls of this place I began my education and helped start the capsules"-Shinji said to Rei as they continued their walk. As they walked Rei was looking at her brother as she could obviously see that Shinji was hiding something from her but before she could ask him anything sounds of multiple 2-stroke engines could be heard as Shinji took a look behind his shoulder and covered Rei with his arm before he took out his 21a and Px4. Before his look change to amusement as he noticed several minimotos , two-strokes and 125cc Motorcycles circling around before taking a look at the riders , and he chuckled as he noticed that those were 9 to 11 year olds wearing capsules insignia
"Look guys , someone is stepping up on our territory"-One of them said as Shinji chuckled
"Ehmm boys ?"-Shinji said as grabbed his sleeve and showed the Capsules insignia on his arm as all of them stopped
"Holy shit , it's the Highway Star ! The number 2 in the Capsules behind Kaneda-san , we're sorry its just really dark and after Ton-ups declared war were constantly on patrol"-one of them said as they all started to whisper among themselves while Shinji seemed amused and found the situation somewhat hilarious while Rei found herself confused
"We are so sorry HS , we didn't mean to scare you"-One of the kids said as he bowed while Shinji continued to laugh
"Ok kiddos , i forgive you , just say sorry to my sister over here for causing her to get scared"-Shinji said as he pointed to Rei
"We are sorry for scaring you Miss"-Another one said as he shaked Rei's hand while her face was crimson
"All right , now bail out"-Shinji ordered as the kid Capsules made their way across the dark road
"Well that was interesting , come on , we are going to continue our trip"-Shinji said as they made their way back to the HS finale before both of them got mounted on the seat and began to make their way to the next destination that Shinji picked. As they rode Rei's attention was shifting towards the people that were living their own lifes , and the only thing she could felt for those people was pity and compassion , mostly at her peers that were selling their bodies to somehow get by living from one day to another , Rei was also looking at other people walking on the sidewalk and tried to listen to their conversations , Japanese and immigrants alike. While many of them weren't people that could be considered Saints, Rei saw in them that the very thing she was created for was taking away from them. Individuality and color in their AT Fields. And that was what made her lose faith in the scenario. Before Shinji got her off the drugs everyone seemed gray and bland and as she took less pills the world around her was beginning to gain more contrast , especially Neogoya's sparking Neons that were piercing Rei's crimson eyes. As she looked behind her she noticed that they were leaving the center of the 8th district and that Shinji got on the downhill road before stopping. Rei got off and noticed that they were in a sewer canal
"What is this place brother ?"-Rei asked as Shinji touched the concrete that was under his feet
"This is the sewer canal that started it all , this is where i first raced on a mock up custom minibike"

"Ok , ready ?"-Shinji's uncle Katsuhiro asked him as 5-year old Shinji nodded
"Uhh Uncle ? Are you sure about this ?"-Shinji asked as he slid down his goggles on his eyes
"Look , you didn't build this bike to not race on it ? Would you allow your 16 hours to be wasted ?"-Shinji's uncle asked as Shinji's expression changed from fear to determination
"Of course not !"-Shinji said as his uncle patted him on the head
"That's the spirit ! Also Kichirou san betted a lot of money on you so show what you got ! We didn't train all the racing techniques for nothing , good luck and fire it up !"-Shinji's uncle said as he walked away from the crowd , Shinji only swallowed air before putting on his gloves and grabbing the clutch before kicking the kick start engine on the proto mock up HS , a tiny heavy customized Minibike with spoke wheels and a Honda 150cc engine. A lot of parts were gutted and looked primal as it would've been obvious since cutted parts were made by a four-year old. Shinji also took down the fairings to lessen the weight and added a rev counter that showed the rpm up to 9000 rpm and added a tiny LED light so he could see ,the frame was also extended so that the bigger engine could fit. 'All right , engine check, RPM check , Chain check , light lit up , ok I'm ready to go !'-Shinji thought as he looked at his rival's bike , while also modified Shinji noticed that the bike would have problems in corners. And judging by how the "Track" had one corner Shinji immediately calculated when to pass just as his uncle taught him as he repeated his words that were pierced in his mind. 'Remember , even on a terrible bike or in a terrible car you can fight , look at the pattern on the track and focus on analyzing the pattern , Bumps , Corners , hell even the holes on the track if you can feel them. And use them to over take your rivals'. It didn't mean that the proto HS was a terrible little machine . Shinji just put more attention in cornering instead of brute force , just as his uncle said to him when he left him with tools. 'I won't judge you for your choices , just build what you seem to think will be fit'. While for a minibike championship a decision like that would've made sense on streets where most of the races were drag races is pretty stupid. But Shinji was lucky that the track at least had a corner so Shinji had a chance to counter it. Shinji revved the engine as a man approached holding a pistol
"to the barrel and turn around"-The man said as Shinji switched to gear one as he also had switched the automatic gearbox to a 6-speed manual one to have a better build up.
"GO !"-The man said as he shot up the pistol to the sky as the two bikes jolted off towards the barrel. Shinji immediately switched to gear two and then to gear three as he looked at the rpm counter as the arrow was showing 9000 rpm before checking his back to see his rival gaining up to him , Shinji shot a quick look at the barrel in front of him before putting the bike to gear five as his rival the barrel was finally reached before Shinji went down with the gears and begun to turn. As Shinji expected his rival had problems with taking the corner as it went wide while Shinji stuck close with the barrel before jolting away as he switched all the way to gear 6 before reaching the 7000 rpm according to the rev counter as Shinji could only see the kilometer way back . As listened to the humming of the 150cc honda motor with wind in his hair the 4-soon to be 5 year old felt a new tingling feeling in his body , while enjoying the theory that he received from his uncle and learning the basics of a motorcycle on the Honda. The feeling he was receiving now , on the bike was incomparable to anything he felt before , the feeling that many of his friends would give their soul to feel. Shinji looked at the RPM counter before looking at the road in front of him , and for the first time in Shinji's life a grin appeared on his face before he reached the starting line again as he heard the applause of many people around
"And that was my first ever race , after it I used the mockup bike as my main transport device though Neogoya. I used it before I got on the HS and after that I put it on under a canvas and it sits snuggled in the warehouse , well Rei , it's time for the last point in our trip"-Shinji said as he got on the HS finale as Rei did the same. While she knew the story of Shinji's first outing as a racer she didn't hear it in such detail while also being here. The story according to Rei was an amalgam of determination to win and the free human spirit , the spirit of never giving up. And that observation made it harder for Rei to hold her secret about what was supposed to happen . After they got on, Shinji started the HS finale and began to make their way towards the final destination of their trip. It was already evening as Shinji happily hummed with the engine as he looked at the display and checked all the instruments to see if everything was in check. Rei meanwhile continued to observe AT fields as she felt them sparking like lightbulbs , each in different color and time. It was something she felt that made her feel that the scenario couldn't happen. She as the clone of Yui and Lilith had complete control over their plans. She wouldn't allow them to kill the entire planet so that human variety and spirit wouldn't disappear. Rei wanted to tell her brother about it as she saw him as the avatar of Human spirit and willpower. The ability to overcome anything put in front of them , she couldn't allow Gendo or SELLE to stop them from progressing because some old guy wanted to see his wife. After another 10 minutes Shinji and Rei reached a street before stopping on a parking lot , as they got off Shinji turned off the engine as Rei followed him before Shinji stopped on the sidewalk looking at the cars that were passing the supposed Important street
"What is the point of this place brother ?"-Rei asked as Shinji stood proudly before turning towards Rei
"Because this is where i got this"-Shinji said as he pointed at his scar

"Come on ! Come on !"-11 Year old Shinji Ikari thought as he looked at the rpm counter of the first Highway Star. It was another night of The Capsules clashing with The Clowns, he was wearing no head protection aside from goggles on his eyes. As he lead the charge the group of clowns surprised the couple of Capsules motorcycles
"Split off !"-Shinji ordered as he pointed with his two fingers back before Shinji was left alone with one of the clowns. Shinji decided not to give up because it wouldn't end well for him and for his bike , Shinji kicked the enemy bike as he escaped from Shinji. Shinji quickly felt high sight in his rear tire , Shinji quickly managed to get the balance back with his bike as Shinji was trying to too evade all of the clowns attack
"Die you little shit !"-The clown said as he took a knife and manage to make a solid cut on Shinji's right cheek
"OUGHH !"-Shinji said as he immediately felt the sting of pain in his cheek as the blood began to stream out of the fresh wound as he managed to stop his bike on the side of the road before getting off it and switching the HS off. Shinji felt immense pain in it as he took a look at his reflection in the nearby puddle of water , his face was scarred as the newly cut shape resembled a star with a long line going into the right with two edges on and under the line pointing into the right. It was a star that looked more like a cross with the sides being ripped and hanging down. Shinji took out a box of tissues out of his jacket and pressed hard on the wound to stop the blood from going down his face. Another 30 minutes passed as Kaneda and Takuro returned to Shinji.
"SHIN ! HOLY CRAP !"-Kaneda said as he runned up to Shinji
"Come on , were gonna get you home"-Takuro said as Shinji got up on his legs and took off the tissue from his scar to reveal the healing wound
"Is it really that bad ?"-Shinji asked as Kaneda and Takuro turned their heads
"No , actually it looks pretty cool , it kinda looks like a star"-Kaneda said as Shinji touched the wound , as a green light bulb lit up in his head and felt an inspiration flying though the new wound before getting on his bike and jolting away home. After he reached home he received a reprimand from his uncle . But he also pointed out that it looked pretty cool and shouldnt be ashamed of it , but he should wear some protection so that it can fully heal. Shinji sat on his laptop and opened the graphics editor , it was friday so Shinji pulled an entire night of work. Based on the shape of his scar he created a logo for himself and borrowed the name of the motorcycle that belonged to his beloved Priscillia Asagiri , the "Highway Star". He designed the edged font and numbers from 0 to 9 before a new HUD with the new font and design , also a new back patch for Shinji's jacket and sleeves to show off his newest logo. He finished at about 6:00 am before going to sleep. The next day at the warehouse while Shinji's uncle worked on a bike, Shinji installed the HUD into the newly proclaimed HS before putting the newly designed stickers on the fairings . As he finished he got to work with patches as he picked them up on the way home. As he rushed back towards his room he got to work on his jacket. An hour had passed as Shinji finished his work and with satisfaction he put it on. And that day the Highway Star was finally born
"And that's how the HS was finally born , after that I retconned the Minibike to be the first HS and-wait are you crying ?"-Shinji asked as he noticed that Rei was crying , after another tale Rei felt something crack in her heart before she leaped at Shinji
"Hey , what's wrong ?"-Shinji asked as Rei pointed at the alley nearby
"They won't hear us"-Rei said as she pulled Shinji's hand and jolted him towards the alley
"Ok , now tell me what's wrong ?"-Shinji asked as Rei continued to cry
"I , im helping to d-do something incredibly wrong , i-im prohibited to t-talk about this , y-your father is making me do it , i-i don't want to , i w-want to live , i w-want you to live"-Rei said in her breaking voice as Shinji connected the dots. 'So i was right , Rei was made obedient to help with the instrumentality'
"Yes i know , my old man wants to start the 3rd Impact before the old farts from SELLE will do it"-Shinji said as Rei's facial expression changed to shock
"W-what ? How do you know ?"-Rei asked as Shinji chuckled and wiped her tears
"I know from where I know , I'll stop them , and you'll help me. After we return to Tokyo 3 we're gonna act , well except you , that we know jack shit. We will kill all the angels and then finish SELLE , so Rei Ayanami , do you want to live ?"-Shinji asked and offered her a hand shake. Rei knew that she was defying her whole reason to exist , but she didn't care
"Yes , i want to live"-Rei said as she shaked Shinji
A/N: Another chapter done ! This one is dedicated to Shinji and Rei ! And yes racing was more in flashbacks but i really wanted to show the reason why Shinji loves to race and win ,and for MotoGP fans remember , WSBK was canned so Kawasaki has no other place to race other than MotoGP. Also this contains many highsights for the future , and i really wanted to make a Reicentric chapter. Asuka will have her spotlight back soon
