...
Izuku took the train as soon as he escaped from the school. He was barely able to avoid the bullies who tried to stop him. They had tried to chase him through the streets. Thanks to his time running he was able to keep several strides ahead of them. Eventually he lost them in the back alleys. The train was taking him to Tokyo to spend time at Hypnos.
Kudamon asked quietly so not to be overheard, "Are you sure about going back to that school, Izuku?"
A quick glance was given to those who were around him. There were only a handful of adults on the train with him. Two had earbuds in and the others were too far from him to hear what he said.
"Final year, Kudamon," he whispered, "We just have to make it one more year. Then we can go to High School."
"Are you still going to try for UA?"
Izuku simply shrugged. UA would be the best option for what he wanted but he wasn't putting all of his eggs in one basket. He applied to several other Support Course speciality schools. The main reason he wanted to go to UA was because his favorite hero was there. Power Loader had only grown in his eyes since his reactions at the Middle School.
"Next stop Tokyo Staton," came a robotic female voice, "Next stop Tokyo Station."
With a sigh, Izuku stood. Even without any outward jarring motions his shoulder twinged in pain. He gritted his teeth the only sign of his discomfort. Would it ever go away? Would he constantly be reminded of that year?
The doors to the train opened and he stepped off onto the platform. The sheer loudness of the station always caught him off guard. Tokyo was far more crowded than Musutafu. Instinct made him want to jump back on the train. He didn't but it was still there. The stale scent of sweat made his nose crinkle as he pushed through the throng of people.
Anxiety rolled about in his gut. He hated being around this many people. Being around a lot of people usually ended in his injury. Once out on the streets he headed towards Hypnos office.
The building was a non-descript large building with windows. He moved across the street and to the street to the building entrance. Standing next to the doors was a security guard. He gave Izuku a nod as the youth entered. He had spent so much time in the building all of the security guards knew him on sight.
Izuku went straight for the elevators and Kudamon started to unfurl from around his neck. The doors opened right as he reached them and a tall blue haired man stepped out. Kudamon immediately tucked back close as they didn't know this person. He was wearing a blue suit and sunglasses. The two froze as they stared at each other. Who?
The man frowned as he said, "I didn't think that Hypnos hired children."
"I don't work here," Izuku said cooly, "And neither do you. Excuse me."
Izuku tried to go around him to go into the elevator. The man tried to grab his right arm only for Izuku to jump back. To his annoyance the doors to the elevator closed. Damn it.
"Don't touch me," he snapped.
He glanced at the doors hoping the security guard was watching. He was and had already moved into the building to help. It only took a minute for the guard to reach them. Almost immediately he put himself between Izuku and the unknown man. Surprise flickered across the man's face.
The surprise only grew when the elevator doors opened again. A familiar tall but scrawny man stepped out. He wore a dark suit and a light grey tie. Like the unknown man he wore sunglasses despite being inside. He didn't know why they did this but didn't care. He was just glad to see Yamaki.
Yamaki looked between them before asking darkly, "Sampson why are you bothering my ward?"
"Ward?"
"That's right."
The man, Sampson looked between them trying to decide if he was bluffing. Izuku did not let his feelings show on his face. Yamaki was not his guardian as much as he wanted the man to be. Still he was protecting him.
Sampson sighed, "Think about what I said, Yamaki. Good day."
With that he went past them and the security guard followed him out. Yamato glared at the man's back before he nodded to the elevator. Izuku took the hint and followed him in and took it to the work floor. They came out into a wide open room with monitors everywhere. It was the only floor that didn't have windows.
Izuku took his usual chair by the computer and Yamaki remained standing. The man had removed his sunglasses and was searching the screens for any signs of a breach. Hypnos was the best place to be if there was one. It gave him quick access to the streets and the train station.
After a few moments of silence Yamaki asked, "What did you think of Sampson?"
Izuku glanced at the man from the corner of his eye as he answered honestly, "Seems like a hard ass. What did he want?"
"I think he has a stick up his ass so far it must be difficult to walk."
Yamaki snorted, "That about sums up every adult you've ever encountered through digimon," the man's face grew serious, "Unfortunately he has the power to change things. Our positions are tenuous currently. The government doesn't like how many breaches are happening. They want it to stop."
Izuku sighed feeling the exhaustion piling on him, "They want to prevent another war between our worlds. And they can't exactly cut Hypnos off Yamaki your actions during the first war prevented that."
His heart sank as the blond haired man refused to look at him. Oh no. There was a way wasn't there?
Yamaki didn't answer that question however. There wasn't time to as the alarms blared alerting them that there was another breach. Back to work it was.
Izuku was running for the elevator not waiting to see where with Kudamon coming fully out of his jacket. They would see him all the necessary information.
