Gathered at the entrance of a decently sized village, was a decently sized group of teenaged shinobi. Said village's limits were marked by a tall wall. On the other side, there were plains, covered in glass so tall that it surpassed even the walls' height. The tips of the grass were as sharp as a sword, and they were wide enough to cover a person.
It was that specific species of grass that gave the village its name. Kusagakure, the Village Hidden in the Grass. A place that up until recently had been an unstable and poor place. Now, however, they had begun to recover.
Among the group of teenagers, there was the Shizenkage himself. The leader of the village. He wasn't anything special in terms of height, while his hair was tied up in a chonmage. What was special, though, was his hitai-ate, which was of a bright green color.
He was grabbing his Kage hat, while standing firm.
"Will Jun and Toshiro come too?" Asked a green-haired girl, who wore a big ribbon on top of it.
"I didn't get any confirmations from Toshiro, but-"
"Hey! Dumbass, he's here." As the Shizenkage turned around, he found his two friends.
A tall man of short hair waved at the group. The reflection of light on his glasses blocked his eyes, making it difficult to see the color of their irises. Next to him, a shorter shinobi, of very long and black hair, was grabbing a kusarigama. On one hand, the scythe, and on the other one, the chain.
"Jun!" Replied the leader, while facepalming.
"What?" The long-haired shinobi blushed, checking on herself to see if she had presented herself in any wrong way.
"What did I tell you about the makeup?!"
Jun realized the issue and then grunted, clearly annoyed at the comment. "Let me! Not like it affects you!"
As the two began yelling at each other, the man of the glasses walked forward. He was wearing a conical hat, as well as the traditional jounin uniform for his village, which consisted of a lighter tone of green that those of Konoha. He shrugged.
"You know, couple fights." He giggled, then dismissed the topic with a hand gesture. "But more importantly today, are you ready? Iwa is part of one of the Great Elemental Nations. It won't be an easy fight."
"Sure!" The green-haired girl replied. "And if anything gets out of hand, we'll always have Gohan!"
She softly punched the saiyan's chest, while he nervously laughed.
"You revised our plans, anyways, didn't you?" A tall, white-haired boy spoke up. Around and above his green eyes, red tattoos decorated his face.
The young man adjusted his glasses. "I certainly have. And as I assume Erimaki has let you know, I've even made some improvements."
Erimaki nodded, as a confirmation.
"First of all, I already know everything about every single one of you." Added Toshiro, while behind him his two friends continued yelling at each other. He took out a small notebook, from where he began to read. "Kimimaro, with the ability to use his bones for combat, as weapons."
The white-haired boy nodded.
"Fubuki, with the ability to use the ice kekkei genkai."
A pink-haired kunoichi nodded. She was quite tall, and also possible the older of the group. Her green eyes contrasted with those of Kimimaro, since they had a lighter color.
"Ishisu, whose main advantage is her special summon, and her ability to create what seems to be sentient fire control in coordination with it."
At the back of the group, a thin arm raised. As she stepped forward, she was revealed to be a girl of short, brown hair. She also nodded, as the information was correct.
"Xiu, with a weird name, has the strange ability of nullifying chakra by simply touching the target. However, this comes at the cost of isolating his own, leaving both the target and himself, the user, without ninjutsu, genjutsu or advanced taijutsu."
From among the group, a short boy stepped forward. His face was partially covered by a porcelain mask in the shape of a dragon. It had something written on it, but the character was unintelligible.
"Ada, one I personally find interesting." He adjusted his glasses once again, as he began reciting from memory, taking his sight away from his notebook. "She somehow has the ability to see visions of the future, which don't always become reality. And on top of that, by channeling her chakra onto somebody's head, she can see the person's past, even as far back as their ancestors."
A very short, blue haired girl, faintly nodded. Her purple eyes were nearly unnoticeable as her head was always leaning low.
"Erimaki. She has... many abilities. Apparently she can copy them from others, but she hasn't told me how, yet." He gave the green-haired girl a suspicious look, while the latter giggled.
"Secret!"
"And last, but probably the strongest, has to be Gohan. His strength is simply inhumane, while he has the ability to create energy balls and waves capable of destroying everything on his way. Even I am afraid of him, sometimes."
Gohan waved his hands, trying to dismiss his fear. "No need to worry, not like I'm a mindless weapon..."
"But Toshiro," interrupted the boy of the dragon mask, "how did you get so much information about us."
"Well, from Erimaki. Which is why I mentioned she didn't reveal much details." He explained. "I thought you'd all be aware."
"I wasn't, but if it was Erimaki, then I don't mind it." He nodded. That gesture was more for himself. "She knows what's best for us, so I imagine she believed telling you was better to improve the plans."
The green-haired girl nodded. "However, Gohan also played a big part regarding the plans. Since, as you may know, Konoha is going to intervene."
"Luckily for us, Gohan is a former Konoha-nin." Ada said with her usual soft voice.
"Exactly." Confirmed the hair of the big ribbon. "And he gave us key information about some of the shinobi we could encounter."
Everyone began patting the saiyan, who laughed nervously. He was happy to be helpful, though something inside hindered that feeling. He couldn't help but think that what he did might not be right.
Erimaki grabbed his hand, and snapped him out of his thoughts. When he turned to look at her, she was giving him a concerned look. He forced a fake smile, to try and ease her concern.
"Is something wrong?"
"No, no." He scratched the back of his head. "Just got distracted with my thoughts again."
"Lord Third." A cloaked man, who wore a porcelain mask, was kneeling in front of a desk.
Behind the desk, a short man was sitting on his tall chair. He signed one final document before putting the tower of paperwork on his desk aside, ready to pay attention to what the ANBU needed to tell him.
"They have entered territory of the Land of Earth."
"About time." He said, noticeably annoyed. "Let's get this over with, already."
The short man began levitating, and he moved away from his chair. He set foot on the floor as soon as he had crossed his desk. Now next to the ANBU, he cleared his throat.
"Declare the state of emergency. Forget all the paperwork. I've got the documents signed ever since the first day we discovered the plans to coup this village." The old man played with his long beard. "Make sure that all the defenses are up, and that our strongest assets are within the village as soon as possible."
"Understood."
"Bring Roshi as well. His services are needed." Ordered the Tsuchikage. "Han should come with the reinforcements of Konoha."
"Han? I thought he'd disappeared three years ago..."
"Hiruzen tried to secretly gather the jinchuuriki of other villages." His voice gave away his despise for the Third Hokage. And even in between words, his lips deformed into an expression of disgust. "Luckily, the new Fifth Hokage is willing to make some concessions, in order to compensate Sarutobi's actions."
"I see." The ANBU simply said. "I shall be going now. I'll inform other fellow ANBU about this and do as you have ordered."
"Good."
And in the blink of an eye, the cloaked man was gone. Onoki frowned.
"The Golden Warrior..."
Several shinobi were running through the forest. Some on the ground, while some others jumping in the branches of the many trees. Their speed was such, that their silhouettes were merely blurs to the untrained eyes of the animals that were doing their regular routines.
Those were Konoha-nin. Shinobi from the Land of Fire. They had recently left their home village for Iwa, where they would take care of an S-ranked mission of utmost important for the world order.
"Stop the coup against the Third Tsuchikage, Onoki Kyogan." Stated a mature blonde woman, while standing with her arms crossed.
She was at her office, after overseeing the departure of the assigned shinobi. She wore a green haori over her gray kimono shirt. Her traditional Hokage hat was resting on her desk, put aside.
"Are you sure they will be able to carry it out?" A younger woman asked.
She was of black hair, and was currently wearing a black kimono with white trimmings. Shizune had proven to be a loyal and trustworthy assistant for the Fifth Hokage, ever since leaving the village all those years ago.
"This time I made sure to send some of the best shinobi I have." She remembered when Sasuke deserted the village three years prior. "I have risked the jinchuriki again, but he is far more prepared than ever."
"And yet you refused my participation." A tall man of very long hair interrupted.
"Well, I can't throw all my cards all at once." She smirked. "As much as I dislike Danzo, he is right in that we are the last line of defense if that kid were to attack our village."
"Eh, I understand." Admitted Jiraiya, finally sitting down on one of the chairs of the office. "Not like I was needed with the likes of Guy, Hishiro or even Naruto there."
"Shikamaru crafted a brilliant plan, designed specifically to take down that boy." Tsunade began speaking, as if trying to remember something. "I'd be scared if it wasn't successful."
"I know the Nara boy is very smart," Shizune interrupted, "but I will say that he should've waited to take Yuichi with him."
The Fifth put her head on her hands, and dived into her thoughts. "Maybe."
"He was too thirsty for the blood of that boy who fell from the skies. Too much." Jiraiya crossed his arms, noticeably annoyed. "A genius, but one that I'm not too proud of, as a shinobi of Konoha."
"Whatever the case," the Fifth placed her hands over the hat, "I'm sure that the efforts of the group we sent, and the army of Iwa, will result in crushing victory. And maybe, if we get lucky enough, all of the rebels will be killed."
"That might get us closer to an alliance with Iwa, right?" Inquired Shizune. She got a nod in response.
"An alliance with none other than the geezer Onoki, huh?" The toad sage laughed softly. "Who would've thought?"
A/N: Basically wanted to say I will probably take some more time to update this story. To make sure that what I write is better for you, and to not burn myself out too much. I do plan to end this fic, so don't worry. I just need a longer break from this one.
