Hannah kept her eyes trained ahead as she walked through the Encanto. She could feel the stares but she stayed focused.
She pulled Matt tighter to herself and kept her eyes on Casita. She just needed to get to Casita. Hannah just needed to talk to Pedro first, they could work through this. He would understand her, understand what happened, how she felt. Pedro always did.
Hannah sighed relieved as she reached the front door of Casita, it still had it's bright glowing front door showing the family. She smiled as it opened for her and she entered.
She shouldn't have been surprised when she entered the house and Mirabel was there in the entryway with Luisa and Dolores, Dolores must have heard her or the town and gathered them. She was a little surprised to see David and Dafne though.
She heard shuffling around and saw that several other members of the family were on the balconies whispering. Her eyes scanned them to see if Pedro and her kids were among them but none look familiar.
Hannah shifted Matt in her arms, and looked again at Mirabel, "Hello, Mirabel. I knows its been a while. Before we talk I need to speak to Pedro, it's only right I talk to him."
A look crossed the Madrigals faces a sad look. Hannah didn't like that, had Pedro moved on or something?
Mirabel studied her for a second before saying, "You may want to leave the child here. It's a long walk to where he is."
David stepped forward and offered to take Matt. Hannah still trusted the man and handed him over, "Mom, will be right back Matthew."
Mirabel headed to the door and Hannah turned to follow when Dafne seemed to snap a while her, "Don't you at least want to say something to your daughter?"
Mirabel sighed a deep sigh as Hannah's eyes went wide. Is Casandra here?
Hannah's eyes went along the railing looking over the Madrigals there, in her mind she thought of the last time she saw her daughter, her long hair in an elegant braid and in a cute little blue dress with butterflies on it.
She didn't see anyone like. She finally heard a voice ask, "Mom?"
Hannah followed the voice and eyes fell onto a girl she had overlooked a few times standing on the stairs. She was a teenager with messy black hair barely touching her shoulders and she was wearing a green ruana with golden hourglasses sown in and blue jeans. Hannah did a double take as she realized the girl looked like the pictures she had seen of Mirabel when she was younger which probably meant she really was…."Cas?"
The girl looked at Hannah with disbelief before standing up and disappearing before her eyes.
"What the?!" Hannah cried as she glanced around the room for Casandra again.
"Come, Hannah. We have a ways to go and much to discuss," Mirabel said as she motioned for Hannah to follow her.
Hannah did follow mindlessly, deep in thought over how much Casandra had changed and what that meant for how much Jaime must have grown as well. She was so deep in thought she didn't realize till she got there that were heading to the town graveyard and to a tombstone that read 'Pedro Agustin Vega Madrigal'
….
Hannah was pulled out of her thoughts as she door opened to her room and her parents entered, "Mom, Dad."
Neither replied as simply looked at her, they seemed so upset. What had happened? Were her test results worse than before?
"I have more to tell you about Pedro," Hannah told them as they closed the door behind them, "I want to tell you everything….before it gets worse…"
Matthew glared at his daughter, "You want to tell us about Casandra, Jaime, and Mateo?"
Hannah froze in shock, "Wait, how…."
Martha gave her a look as she sat in the chair beside the bed, "Honey, Casandra is here and told us a lot. Be honest honey…."
"Wait, Cas is here?" Hannah asked in shock, She heard on the monitor next to her, there went her blood pressure.
"Calm down," Matthew scolded his daughter like a child, "Yes, apparently she came all the way from Colombia to see you with Mirabel."
That caused Hannah to look surprised, "Wait, Mirabel Madrigal came all the way here?"
"Yes. She said she came to support Cas," Matthew replied sternly.
Hannah was surprised the woman could do that. She was in her 80's for crying out loud. But she shook her head, Cas had always loved her grandmother and can't imagine anyone else Cas would want with her.
The room got quiet for a second as Martha finally looked at her daughter in disappointment, "Hannah, three kids…how could you not tell us?"
"It's complicated… The Encanto and the Madrigal Family…." She tried but her father cut her off.
"No, it's not complicated," Matthew glared at her coldly, "I see now I should have included you when I gave Michael that speech about not ever being a deadbeat."
The woman remained silent only the beeping of her medical equipment filling the room only breaking when a stern look appeared on Hannah's face and she whispered, "I feel like I owe Casandra the explanation before you."
Martha and Matthew shared a look before Martha got up and left, Hannah assumed to get Cas.
Matthew looked down at his oldest daughter with a stern look, "Do not pressure her into forgiving you. You have no right to pressure any of those kids into forgiving you, you're dying but you have no right to use that to clear your guilt."
Tears filled Hannah's eyes not use to seeing this side of her father. Matthew felt guilty at this but didn't say anything as he gave he a forehead and left the room.
Hannah heaved a sob as she waited for her daughter.
….
Matthew caught up with Martha at the elevated as they headed to the waiting room to see get Cas but when they got to the room they couldn't help but smile at the sight.
"...And that wasn't all!" Mirabel smiled at the kids, including Kayla, Eliza, Mack, and Mason . listening to the store intently in the waiting room.
"Yeah, the magic house…." Cas pretended to think for a second then looked at Mirabel, "What was the houses name?"
The kids giggled and Mason replied, "Its Casita!"
"Right Casita!" Mirabel agreed looking at Cas as she smiled, "Remember?"
"Okay, so Casita wasn't just alive. Everytime a child in the family turned 5 she gave them a magical room," Cas explained in mysterious voice, "And with this magical room….came a magical power!"
The kids gasped again as Cas and Mirabel cointuned the story.
Martha and Matthew walked over to where Micahel and Kara were vaguely listening to the story their niece and her cousin were weaving, Malcolm was there on his cellphone pretending not to listen either.
"She wants to speak to Casandra first," Martha explained as she sat down, "But she didn't deny it. Casandra is her child."
Micahel and Kara looked devastated at the news as Matthew went to get Cas. This was going to be so messy.
….
Hannah kept her eyes close for a while, till she heard a knock at the door, she gulped, "Come in."
The door opened and no one said anything as she heard the steps and the scrapping of a chair as the moved and sat in it.
Hannah finally opened her eyes and stared.
There she was.
She looked about how she looked last time she saw her. A copy of young Mirabel Madrigal, with straight hair (little longer and tied in a low ponytail this time), with blue square glasses hiding the hazel eyes that she had inherited from Martha Jameson, and dressed in a green hoodie and blue jeans.
They stared at each other for a minute.
"Hi, Cas."
"Hola Mother."
Author's Note
Ooof. So I'm not redeeming Hannah, this was just a look into her mind and we will get more into why she abandoned her kids and Pedro next time. This Hannah is at least more stable than the Hannah in the Green Clad Madrigal.
Thanks for reading and please comment it gives me the strength the carry on.
Next time- Hannah explains her side to Cas and Mirabel shocks the hell out of Hannah
