Welcome back to the Xenoblade Heart to Heart series! Today, we get our first interaction between Cynder and Sharla. I will tell you, once I learned a bit about Sharla, I was kind of looking forward to this pairing. So, how's it going to go? Let's find out!

Heart to Heart 9: Doubts and Promises

Introduction

Sharla: (Caught a little off guard) I didn't expect to find you up here, Cynder.

Cynder: (Equally caught off guard) Sharla? What brings you here?

Sharla: Just needed a place to think. Away from the rest of the group.

Cynder: I don't blame you. I needed some time.

Sharla: You really... feel out of place here don't you?

Cynder: Okay, she's quick to read the room. That's... a strange way to put it.

Sharla: To be honest, I really couldn't think of a better way to put it off the top of my head.

Cynder: I guess that... makes sense in a way.

Sharla: But, the basic idea is true, right?

Cynder: I guess you could say that.

Sharla: Trust me, in a way, I get it.

Cynder: How so?

Sharla: Don't tell anyone this, but there are really times I feel I should be back in Colony 6, helping rebuild the place.

Cynder: Noble pursuit.

Sharla: I take it you want to get back to where you're protecting?

Cynder: It's... really not about protecting somewhere. Heck, if I could, I might choose not to go back.

Sharla: Really? Why's that?

Cynder: No offense, Sharla, but I really don't like talking about it.

Sharla: (Realizing she's hit a limit) That's okay. we can talk about it when you're ready.

Sharla: You really... feel out of place here don't you?

Cynder: Okay, she's quick to read the room. That's... a strange way to put it.

Sharla: To be honest, I really couldn't think of a better way to put it off the top of my head.

Cynder: I guess that... makes sense in a way.

Sharla: But, the basic idea is true, right?

Cynder: I guess you could say that.

Sharla: You guess? What on earth is that supposed to mean?

Cynder: It's... not exactly like what you described. I do honestly feel out of place, but not because I'm a stranger in a strange world.

Sharla: (Starting to put things together) Oh. I think I can see where you're coming from. And I know better than to mess with it.

Cynder: Thanks Sharla. That was close. I don't need her bearing my burdens in addition to her own.

Sharla: Yeah, the others can get kind of annoying. Reyn especially.

Cynder: I wouldn't say Reyn's annoying. Simple maybe, but not annoying.

Sharla: Now that I think about it, I guess you're right. He's got some sort of charm to him. Though, I'll be honest, Spyro's got his own charm.

Cynder: You better not be insinuating what I think you're insinuating. He certainly does.

Sharla: I mean, I see you've got a connection there.

Cynder: Huh, looks like she can read the room pretty well. I... guess there is.

Sharla: I take it you haven't told him yet?

Cynder: It's... complicated.

Sharla: (Kind of seeing it) We can talk about this later if you like.

Cynder: I'd like that actually.

Sharla: Fine by me.

Cynder: I'm just waiting to make sure he actually knows. Thanks, Sharla. I think.
