Welcome everyone to the New Years Special! Our annual celebration of the year past, and what a messed up year it's been for me. Though I will say writing these stories was a moment of solace in all of it. Anyways, today, we cover a character I honestly wasn't sure how to do when I first started. Just because I didn't know where to begin. Surprisingly, it's Reyn. No idea why I found him troublesome, I just did. So let's not waste a minute! Here we go!

Heart to Heart 12: I Can't Stand Still

Participants: Spyro and Reyn

Location: Tranquil Square

Affinity: Green

Pre-Requisite: Riki must be recruited to the party

Introduction

Spyro: Ah, I love tranquil places like this. Really gives me somewhere I can think.

Reyn: (Less than enthusiastic) Yeah, it's nice.

Spyro: (Sensing something is off) You okay, Reyn?

Reyn: Yeah, just... I feel so... off in places like this.

Pass/Pass

Spyro: You did strike me as one big ball of energy. Not Riki level, but still...

Reyn: (Surprised) Really?

Spyro: The way you rush into battles with the Mechon, you really just can't walk when you can run. And you don't believe you ever could.

Reyn: Yeah! People try to slow me down, saying Reyn you really should kick back and chill.

Spyro: But you can't stand still.

Reyn: I guess I can't! No wonder I'm always itching for a fight!

Spyro: And that sort of boundless energy has gotten you into trouble before, hasn't it?

Reyn: You have no idea.

Spyro: Trust me, we all knew that kid growing up.

Reyn: (Slightly disheartened) Yeah, I guess we all did.

Spyro: But look at where it's gotten you! You're heading straight into the fire to fight the enemy on your own terms. You're a certifiable hero in my book.

Reyn: Really?

Spyro: Totally.

Reyn: I guess I can't! No wonder I'm always itching for a fight!

Spyro: And that energy could be your downfall.

Reyn: What?

Spyro: There needs to be a balance between energy and restraint. Forgive my saying so, but you do lack a bit of restraint.

Reyn: I do?

Spyro: Not by much, bit you do. You can't just go dashing headlong into battle, you need to strategize a plan of attack

Reyn: I do have a plan. Attack!

Spyro: We'll work on this. What am I going to do with you?

Fail/Pass

Spyro: You really need to stop and smell the roses once in a while, Reyn.

Reyn: Every time I have I've ended up with sneezing fits.

Spyro: By the Ancestors. I don't mean literally. I'm saying you just need to take some time to rest.

Reyn: No offense, but there's not a lot of time.

Spyro: I understand that you need to be on your game with everything, but you've got to be aware that burnout will come pretty easily in that regard.

Reyn: I appreciate the advice, Spyro, I really do, but with all the Mechon attacks recently, how can I take any time to rest?

Spyro: Looks like I was mistaken about you.

Reyn: How?

Spyro: I thought you were just unable to sit still. But now I understand it's vigilance.

Reyn: Vigilance?

Spyro: You're good at looking out for people. You're a protective friend.

Reyn: Huh. I never thought about it that way.

Spyro: And you haven't let anything that's happened kill it. That's more than I can say for a lot of people.

Reyn: Then I'll just keep on fighting to keep that flame burning then!

Spyro: That's the spirit!

Spyro: (Thinks about it) I get it. It's your training.

Reyn: What's my training got to do with any of this?

Spyro: It's hardwired you for combat. At least in part, since you did always strike me as a ball of energy.

Reyn: I'm... still not sure I get what you're talking about.

Spyro: Wow, he really is kind of dense. I... really can't think of another way to explain it at this moment. Maybe it'll come to me later.

Reyn: It better, because I'm not letting this go.

This concludes Part I of the New Years Special. For Part II, head on over to Every Depth Of Good And Ill. I seriously hope I've captured Reyn pretty well without over-accentuating the dense-ness I was informed about for him. So, how does the tank of the group interact with Cynder? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
