Welcome back to the Xenoblade Heart to Hearts series! Today, we finally leave Colony 9 behind, in favor of our next destination, in this case, Tephra Cave. We'll have a couple chats here then move to the next location, but there won't be one for every main character. But to start, Spyro and Cynder have their chat. So let's get started!
Heart to Heart 16: Look To The Stars
Participants: Spyro and Cynder
Location: Heavenly Window
Affinity: Lavender
Introduction
Spyro: Take a look at this place! You can probably see all the way up to Sword Valley from here!
Cynder: Sure, if you don't mind not seeing any distinguishing features. Or any features of it period, since we're underneath it.
Pass/Pass
Spyro: Cynder, is something wrong? You know you can tell me anything, right?
Cynder: I know I can, Spyro. There's legitimately nothing wrong with me right now. I've honestly been having a good day.
Spyro: You just seemed a bit more, please don't kill me for this, sarcastic than usual.
Cynder: Yeah, I admit, I probably have been. Guess this place has me kind of down.
Spyro: Has you down? How?
Cynder: Well... you know about my history, probably more than anyone else here.
Spyro: Do I ever.
Cynder: Well, there's one thing I never did tell you.
Spyro: What?
Cynder: Probably the worst torment I ever suffered at the hands of Gaul's forces was the place I was locked up, a pit at the deepest part of the Well of Souls.
Spyro: By the Ancestors.
Cynder: The one part of that cell I remember is a hole in the ceiling, looking up towards the sky.
Spyro: Why that?
Cynder: Because every day after Gaul's forces were done with me, they would throw me back in that cell, and every night, I would look up through that hole, keep in mind at this point I didn't know who the Ancestors were, and pray to whatever was looking down on me from those stars I saw to end the torment.
Spyro: Oh my... I... I had no idea.
Cynder: Why would you know? I never told you. But ever since, I've never been able to look up at the sky without wondering why I was left to suffer.
Spyro: Cynder... I may not have the answers to that, but I can tell you this. Everything you went through has molded you into the kind, considerate, caring person you are today. You've emerged stronger than Malefor and his forces could ever have feared.
Cynder: (Thinks about it) I guess you're right...
Spyro: Trust me on this one. Or if you don't, ask anybody, they'll agree.
Cynder: (With a slight smile) Thanks Spyro, I needed something like that.
Spyro: Happy to provide, milady.

Spyro: Forgive me if I seem blunt, but all that misery you've gone through, is in the past now. If we dwell forever on the past, it will destroy us, prevent us from taking advantage of what we have now. That's why they call it the "present", it's a gift we can't waste.
Cynder: (Slightly off-put by the bluntness) I guess you're right. You didn't have to put it in that tone though.

Fail/Pass
Spyro: (Sensing it immediately) Something's wrong.
Cynder: Actually, no, nothing's the matter. I'm surprisingly having a good day.
Spyro: Then what's with the sarcasm?
Cynder: Let's just say I don't really enjoy stargazing through holes in the ceiling.
Spyro: (Sensing there's something she doesn't want to reveal) And I take it you want to keep it to yourself for now.
Cynder: (Getting a little misty eyed) Yeah, to be honest, I would.
Spyro: (Throwing a caring wing over her and drying her tears) I understand.
Cynder: Thanks, Spyro. I needed that.
Spyro: Anything to be there for you, milady.
Cynder: (With a loving eye roll) Such a gentledrake.

Cynder: Let's just say I don't really enjoy stargazing through holes in the ceiling.
Spyro: What's the issue with stargazing?
Cynder: Okay, to be fair, it's less the stargazing, and more the fact that it's through a hole in a cave ceiling. To be honest, I really don't want to talk about it. At least, not yet.
Spyro: (Hesitantly) Okay, but don't forget I'm always open to talk about anything.
Cynder: I haven't forgotten, Spyro, and I appreciate it. Not like you've told me that a thousand times this evening alone.
