Welcome back to the Xenoblade Heart to Hearts series! Today, we have our second adventure in Tephra Cave. Now, since we're not introducing any new characters, having introduced everyone back in Colony 9, I'm just going to surprise you with who's coming in to the game. So who is it? Read on to discover...

Heart to Heart 17: Cookery

Participants: Spyro and Fiora

Location: Bone Corridor

Affinity: Lavender

Introduction

Fiora: Man these bird things are everywhere!

Spyro: Well, they probably play a vital part in the ecosystem. Some sort of near apex predator I guess. Though it does lead to an interesting question.

Fiora: That being?

Spyro: You think these things are edible?

Pass/Pass

Fiora: Edible? Sounds like a question Reyn would ask.

Spyro: Admittedly it does, but it's a fair question.

Fiora: I mean, they'd probably are, but they might be a bit tough if I had to guess. Probably need to cook them for several hours. Cook times could be impractical, especially on a journey like this one.

Spyro: You're probably right.

Fiora: Got to ask, what's with the sudden question into this?

Spyro: Well, Cynder's birthday is coming up and I wanted to do something special.

Fiora: So you decided on cooking a special meal, without knowing what's edible around here?

Spyro: To be honest, I'd expected we'd still be in Colony 9 when I made this plan.

Fiora: Oh. That makes sense. (Thinks about it) Say, would you like a hand?

Spyro: A hand?

Fiora: I can show you a few things about our local ingredients.

Spyro: I've always heard you were a good cook. Shulk honestly never shuts up about your cooking.

Fiora: (Blushing slightly) He doesn't?

Spyro: Yeah. Neither does Reyn now that I think about it.

Fiora: That's honestly encouraging.

Spyro: Alright, I'll take the aid.

Fiora: Okay. Let's see what we can't scrounge up down here.

Pass/Fail

Fiora: Edible? Sounds like a question Reyn would ask.

Spyro: Admittedly it does, but it's a fair question.

Fiora: I mean, they'd probably are, but they might be a bit tough if I had to guess. Probably need to cook them for several hours. Cook times could be impractical, especially on a journey like this one.

Spyro: You're probably right.

Fiora: You don't seem like the type to obsess over foodstuffs. What's the issue?

Spyro: This is really something I need to handle myself. Just trying to figure out how we're going to feed the party. I mean when we left Colony 9, we didn't expect to be nine strong by this point. And even if your newly mechanized state means you don't need to eat, we're still up to eight. Way more than the four or five we left with.

Fiora: (Doubting the story) So that's it? You're just in this logistically?

Spyro: Yeah, that's all it is.

Fiora: (Really doubting the story) Okay, I'll leave it at that. But if there's another reason, you'd tell me, right?

Spyro: Of course I would!

Fail/Pass

Fiora: Am I suddenly talking to Reyn?

Spyro: (Seeing the sarcasm) Really?

Fiora: That is kind of the way he thinks, though.

Spyro: I'll agree with you on that, but it is still a good question.

Fiora: To be honest, I don't think so.

Spyro: Looks like I may have to wait until we get to the next Colony to work on this plan. (Under his breath) And we might miss Cynder's birthday.

Fiora: Cynder's birthday? What's that got to do with whether these things are edible?

Spyro: Looks like there's no hiding it now. Cynder's birthday is coming up, and I'm looking to make something special.

Fiora: So you wanted to make her a birthday dinner, and you had no idea what to use.

Spyro: Pretty much.

Fiora: Why didn't you just ask me? I would've been more than willing to give you a hand.

Spyro: I honestly don't know. Probably got too far in my own head about making the meal special.

Fiora: Let me give you a hand and we'll see what we can scrounge together.

Spyro: (Thinking about it) Okay. Thanks, Fiora.

Fiora: No problem.

Fiora: What was that?

Spyro: Crap, she heard me! Nothing. Just trying to figure out a plan for restocking the party's larder.

Fiora: You're just worried we're going to run out of food before we reach the next Colony?

Spyro: Dragons have different caloric needs compared to Homs. I don't want to end up being the one who depletes our food stores halfway to our destination.

Fiora: You don't need to worry about that. We'll figure it out.

Spyro: Thanks for the assurance, Fiora. That was too close.

And that wraps up today's update. Nothing plot turning, just a little side conversation. Considering there's a chat in the canon game about Fiora's cooking, I figured it made sense to have one here too. So, what does Cynder have to say to Fiora this time? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
