Welcome one and all to the Winter Games Special! Today marks the beginning of the Winter Olympics, which I actually almost forgot about since we just did the Summer Games Special last year due to COVID delays. So we're celebrating the spirit of friendly competition, in spite of the controversial location, and giving the world a little extra update. So, we're going to start our day by seeing Cynder and Fiora interact for the second time, only this time in Tephra Cave. So, how do they get on this time? Let's light the torch and find out!
Heart to Heart 18: Tears in the Night
Participants: Cynder and Fiora
Location: Spring of Grief
Affinity: Pink
Pre-Requisites: Only occurs at Night
Introduction
Fiora: (Seeing Cynder staring into her reflection in the spring) Cynder? What are you doing out here so late at night?
Cynder: (As if she's waking up from a trance) Huh? (Seeing Fiora) Oh, Fiora. Didn't see you there.
Fiora: Are you okay? You were looking pretty intently at your reflection there.
Pass/Pass
Cynder: No use hiding it I guess. Fiora's come to be someone I can trust. Just having one of my bad days.
Fiora: Bad days?
Cynder: Let's just say that I've been thinking a lot about how I got to be here, and not all of it is pretty. I've told you parts of it before.
Fiora: You've mentioned the blood on your claws in the past.
Cynder: True, I have.
Fiora: But you've yet to really explain anything in detail.
Cynder: To be honest, I didn't think it needed much explaining. What aside from deaths could cause blood on my claws?
Fiora: I figured that part out.
Cynder: But even then, that's not what disturbed me the most.
Fiora: Then what was it?
Cynder: It was the lack of control. I was a passenger in my own body. That sort of thing messes you up.
Fiora: Trust me, I get that feeling. Face Mechon Control Unit and all that.
Cynder: True. I guess I'm still trying to figure out whether or not I'm in control at all at any given moment. (Looking back into the spring) Or if at any moment darkness could take back over.
Fiora: I can assure you, we won't let that happen.
Cynder: Thanks, Fiora. I needed that.

Cynder: True, I have.
Fiora: But you've yet to really explain anything in detail.
Cynder: Sure we have similar trauma, but I still don't know if she's ready for the full story. I'm... still not ready to tell the full story yet.
Fiora: Well, we know it means you've killed people.
Cynder: Yeah, that much was pretty obvious wasn't it?
Fiora: And despite all of it, you're not that monster. You're our friend.
Cynder: You consider me a friend?
Fiora: More than just about anything else on Bionis.
Cynder: You have no idea how good that makes me feel, Fiora.

Fail/Pass
Cynder: This is my burden to bear, not hers. Fiora's got her own problems to deal with, I won't unload mine onto her too. No particular reason.
Fiora: (Doubting the entire story) I'm... not honestly sure about that.
Cynder: Don't you just need a moment away from the gang sometimes?
Fiora: Oh, yes, I do, don't get me wrong about that. But you seem to take a lot of them. In secluded places that are pretty hard to get to. Needless to say, everyone's worried you're going to get lost.
Cynder: (Under her breath) Who's to say that's not a good thing?
Fiora: What was that?
Cynder: (Sighs) Who's to say that's not a good thing?
Fiora: Why would it be a good thing that you got lost?
Cynder: Who's to say the forces of darkness couldn't take back control at any moment?
Fiora: Well, for one, me.
Cynder: What?
Fiora: I won't let that happen, Cynder. None of us will. You can count on us in that regard.
Cynder: (Brushing a tear from her eye) Thanks, Fiora. I needed that.

Fiora: (Not believing that for a second) Okay... Just come back to camp when you're done with... whatever you're doing.
Cynder: Will do.

This concludes Part I of the Winter Games Special. For Part II, head on over to Every Depth of Good and Ill. Well that conversation got kind of heavy, particularly in the fail start sections. Hopefully the next conversation featuring Cynder will be a little bit lighter. I'll ensure that it is. So, which character is next? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
