Welcome one and all to this year's My Gift to You birthday special! That's right, today's my birthday, so I'm giving all of you a gift, an update to every story I have active. Starting here, with one of our final chats on Bionis' Leg, this time with Shulk. So let's not waste a minute, let's get started!

Heart to Heart 28: Things Unseen

Participants: Spyro and Shulk

Location: Gaur Plain

Affinity: Green

Introduction

Shulk: Hey, Spyro?

Spyro: What's up Shulk?

Shulk: Can you confirm something for me?

Spyro: Confirm what?

Shulk: Can you really see the future? Like I can?

Pass/Pass

Spyro: It's... a little more complicated than that.

Shulk: How so?

Spyro: Well, the extent of my control over Time is not exactly the same as your Monado-induced visions. You, as far as I can understand, can see one possible future, and can try to influence things to avoid or confirm it. What I can see is for certain how an enemy will attack, and can use that to avoid it. I can't change how or when they attack. At least, that's how I think it works.

Shulk: Fascinating!

Spyro: I've got to ask, what's sparked this line of questioning?

Shulk: Nothing really.

Spyro: Shulk, you know you don't have to hide anything from me, right?

Shulk: Okay, he's quick to read the room. I guess there's no hiding it.

Spyro: Well what is "it" exactly?

Shulk: I was hoping you'd be able to teach me how to understand my visions.

Spyro: Shulk, no offense, but if I had to guess, you're barking up the wrong tree.

Shulk: What?

Spyro: I may have a similar ability, but that doesn't mean I know exactly how your powers work.

Shulk: (Downtrodden) Dang.

Spyro: But, that doesn't mean we can't give it a shot.

Shulk: Really?

Spyro: Certainly.

Shulk: Nothing really.

Spyro: Shulk, you know I know you're lying, right?

Shulk: Dang it.

Spyro: Alright, out with it. What's going on?

Shulk: I was hoping you could help me with figuring out these visions. Try as I might, I'm getting nowhere with it.

Spyro: So why didn't you just ask me that upfront?

Shulk: I didn't want to sound too demanding.

Spyro: (Thinking about it) Okay?

Shulk: I'm going to take it that that's a no.

Spyro: Not necessarily.

Shulk: Really?

Spyro: You know it.

Fail/Pass

Spyro: Oh boy... how do I answer this...?

Shulk: Do you or don't you?

Spyro: I... honestly don't know entirely how my Time abilities work. And I know how your visions even less so.

Shulk: Huh.

Spyro: (Picking up on something) Is there something else going along with this?

Shulk: Not really.

Spyro: Shulk, we both know there's a reason behind this. You don't need to hide it from me.

Shulk: (Sigh) I was hoping you'd be able to help me with these visions. Try as I might, I can't figure them out to save my life.

Spyro: Like I said, I don't know if our two powers are the same, but I'm willing to attempt.

Shulk: Really?

Spyro: Yeah. This'll be a learning experience for all of us.

Spyro: Shulk, don't lie to me.

Shulk: What makes you think I'm lying?

Spyro: I may not know you that well, but I can tell when you're lying.

Shulk: I'm not.

Spyro: (Not buying this for a second) Okay, I'll buy it for now.

Shulk: Thanks. Remind me to never ask you to help me with my visions again.
