Heart to Heart 32: The Home We Find

Sharla: Cynder?

Cynder: (Looking off into the distance, then noticing Sharla in the back) If you're expecting me to be startled, I heard the grass rustling when you came up.

Sharla: Thank goodness, I wasn't trying to startle you this time. I'm just trying to figure out what you're doing here.

Pass/Pass

Cynder: Just... thinking...

Sharla: Thinking about what?

Cynder: What I've missed out on all these years...

Sharla: Missed out on?

Cynder: The feeling you have coming back here.

Sharla: Regrets?

Cynder: No. A feeling of... home.

Sharla: What?

Cynder: I never felt at home anywhere. Wait, have I told you this already?

Sharla: Not that I can remember. But, wait, what are you even talking about?

Cynder: Just... realizing there's no place I've ever felt like home. Guess seeing you see your home get reconstructed brought it out. No offense.

Sharla: None taken. But... I will say this, if it helps, you've found a place that fits that.

Cynder: I beg your pardon?

Sharla: You can always call Colony 6 home. If that helps.

Cynder: (Brushing a tear from her face) It does, Sharla. It really does.

Cynder: Just... thinking...

Sharla: Thinking about what?

Cynder: What I've missed out on all these years...

Sharla: Missed out on?

Cynder: No. A feeling of... home.

Cynder: Okay, I'm closer with you than any other woman here, how are you not picking this up? I just want to feel at home somewhere. That's all.

Sharla: There really was nowhere that you felt that way back home?

Cynder: No, there really wasn't. Well, the Temple was probably closest. But... then I left that.

Sharla: If that was home to you, why'd you leave it?

Cynder: It's an even longer story that I really don't feel like explaining right now.

Sharla: Fair enough.

Cynder: (Sighs) Who knows? Maybe this'll be the place.

Sharla: I'd say Colony 6 would fully welcome you.

Cynder: Just needed a moment to process everything that's happened recently.

Sharla: No offense, but I can tell you're lying.

Cynder: It must be through my teeth if at all.

Sharla: What's with the sarcasm?

Cynder: (Under her breath) Oh so just because we're in your home, you think I have to answer all your questions?

Sharla: What was that?

Cynder: Oh crap, she heard me. Guess I better come clean. (Sighs) I guess I'm a little jealous.

Sharla: Jealous? Of what?

Cynder: Of you. And where we are for you.

Sharla: I'm still confused.

Cynder: You're home. I guess I just got jealous of that fact, because I've got nowhere that feels that way to me.

Sharla: Seriously?

Cynder: Sad but true.

Sharla: Well, you do now. Colony 6 is as much your home as it is mine.

Cynder: Really?

Sharla: I'm sure of it.

Sharla: No. But we're kind of in the middle of rebuilding my home here, and we could use some help.

Cynder: I'll be over in about 5 minutes.

Sharla: Thanks.

Cynder: Way to rub in that this is your home, Sharla. Really wish I could feel that way about somewhere.
