Heart to Heart 38: Finding Purpose
Participants: Cynder and Shulk
Location: Hope Farm Southern Entrance
Affinity: Lavender
Prerequisites: Special Level 3, Nature Level 4, Commercial Level 5
Introduction
Shulk: Beautiful day out, isn't it?
Cynder: (In a distracted manner) Yeah, yeah it is.
Shulk: (Realizing something is off) I know that tone in your voice. You're thinking about something, aren't you?
Pass/Pass
Cynder: I guess you could say that, yeah.
Shulk: So what is it?
Cynder: Just thinking about where the future's going to take me from here.
Shulk: The future? What do you mean?
Cynder: I mean that I'm not sure what I'm going to do once we get back to our world.
Shulk: You don't have plans?
Cynder: Not really. I mean, I was raised for one thing. And now that thing is over. What purpose do I even have anymore?
Shulk: (Realizes what that one thing is) I think I have a suggestion.
Cynder: That being?
Shulk: You were given this incredible skill set for a reason. Just because the one thing you were raised for is done, doesn't mean you can't still use those skills. Surely there's something you can do with them.
Cynder: (Thinking about it) I can't think of any off the top of my head. But it might be something worth exploring. Thanks, Shulk.

Pass/Fail
Cynder: I guess you could say that, yeah.
Shulk: So what is it?
Cynder: Just thinking about where the future's going to take me from here.
Shulk: The future? What do you mean?
Cynder: I mean that I'm not sure what I'm going to do once we get back to our world.
Shulk: You don't have plans?
Cynder: Isn't that what I just said?
Shulk: Well, regardless, you're a clever girl. I have confidence you'll find something for your skillset. Probably even before you leave this world.
Cynder: Guess my problem is my skillset is kind of limited.
Shulk: Even then I'm sure you'll figure something out. Every warrior's got a skill they can use in civilian life.
Cynder: (Realizes he might be right) Well, guess I'll just have to keep trying.

Fail/Pass
Cynder: I have no idea what you're talking about.
Shulk: Cynder, we know each other well enough for me to realize that tone in your voice.
Cynder: Damn, he's gotten good at reading me. Okay, I'll bite. What do you think I'm thinking about?
Shulk: Okay, that's putting me on the spot unnecessarily. Um... what you plan to do when you get home?
Cynder: (Sarcastically) Lucky guess.
Shulk: Got to ask, why are you worried about that of all things?
Cynder: Let's just say I have a particular set of skills, and I cannot see anything I could do as a civilian that requires them.
Shulk: Then you probably haven't been looking hard enough. There's got to be something.
Cynder: (Somewhat rejuvenated) Maybe there is.
Shulk: I'm willing to help you look.
Cynder: Thanks, Shulk.

Cynder: (Lying through her teeth) Sorry, not even close.
Shulk: Then what are you thinking about?
Cynder: No offense, but that's a private matter, and I'd like it to remain that way for now.
Shulk: Just "for now"?
Cynder: Geez, Shulk. Can't you just let me have my own private thoughts? Yeah, just for now.
Shulk: Okay. I guess I'll leave it at that. For now.
Cynder: Thanks.
