Chapter 3

The Scotsman

Introduction

"Long ago, in an distant land, I, Aku, The Shape-shifting Master Of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil, but a foolish Samurai Warrior, wielding a magic sword, stepped forth to oppose me!"

"Before the final blow was struct, I threw open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is LAW, now the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is AKU!"

While the Samurai falls through the portal, something else hits into him, allowing both to fall out the other end of the portal.

"But, due to some unforeseen circumstance, or perhaps, dumb luck, someone else was caught in the portal, who happens to be a ninja from another dimension."

Old Suspension Bridge

After the Haunted House where Naruto had managed to get his own sword, it took a while for them to get Naruto use to such a large weapon, though Jack had made sure that Naruto was able to get use to using other weapons besides the sword, though when they managed to take some guns to test them out Jack almost nearly blew his foot off and quickly threw it away, with Naruto also nearly shooting Jack's head off, causing Naruto to hold the gun handle with his finger and thumb and decide that maybe the two should wait until they meet someone to help them with gun training.

But right now the Master and Student were walking along a bridge, with Jack wearing a Straw hat, with a few of the wooden panels being old that at one point Naruto stepped on one of the panels only for it to break and fall to the fog covered abyss below, "Okay, I think it might be best to walk carefully." Naruto couldn't help but state.

Jack had a slight sweatdrop, though can't deny that it was a sound idea, they slowly made their way on the super long bridge, where they continued walking, while making sure not to cause another board from breaking, especially with Naruto having such a big and possibly heavy sword, even though he makes it look light.

Unfortunately while traveling on the bridge the day became night, giving the pair the unfortunate chance to sleep on the bridge for the night, where Naruto spreads out to sleep, with his sword next to him, while Jack sits with his sword resting on his shoulder, though because of how he's resting.

"Crack~ Crack! Crack!"

Jack fell through a hole he made due to his sitting/sleeping position, but luckily he quickly placed his sword through the hole he fell through to act as a bar to hold him in place, but thankfully Naruto had managed to get startled awake and grab the sword as well, helping his teacher up, as for Naruto being a light sleeper now was thanks to Jack's training, as well as Naruto's reaction time increasing as well.

When Jack was able to stand, he looks at the hole, "Naruto, I believe laying on the bridge like how you did, may prove more beneficial for my health." Since he now realized that by sitting on the old bridge he wasn't distributing his weight evenly, unlike Naruto who was more lighter because of his sleeping position.

With Naruto nodding as he looks down, with the two still not able to see the bottom of the abyss or hear the planks hitting the bottom either, so with that, the next day came and two continued their walking, though Naruto was starting to get annoyed at how long the bridge was.

As they were walking the began hearing a strange yet horrible noise approaching them, causing them to grow worried, until they realized it was music, if you could call it that.

Then before their eyes was a man walking towards them, he's a large man with receding red-orange hair tied back in a ponytail, a matching short beard with the chin shaved, a barrel chest, and disproportionately small legs, the left of which is replaced with a submachine gun possibly after losing it in a battle. He was wearing a white shirt with torn sleeves, a kilt with a sporran (frontal pouch) in the shape of a grinning cat's head, and a boot with a buckle over his human leg.

But soon the noise from the bagpipes were hurting both Jack and Naruto's ears, causing them to cover their ears in pain, with the music echoing across the bridge, with the two struggling to keep the noise out.

Though as the large man was now standing before them, he was still playing his bagpipes, though now he noticed them, until he finished the song he was playing, "By the look of your faces I can tell you like the pipes, wee lads." The now known Scotsman spoke out.

Unfortunately Naruto was in front of Jack, rubbing his ears, "WHAT!? I CAN'T HEAR A THING YA SAID! HANG ON!" ("CRACK! POP! POP!") Naruto's ears soon popped causing him to regain his hearing.

Though just as the Scotsman was about to play again, Jack held his hand up, rubbing his ears, "Please, I do not mean to interrupt, but are we close to the end of the bridge?" He asks kindly, not wanting any trouble with the large man.

Unfortunately, "No, far from it. I've been traipsing across this bridge for days now." The Scotsman exclaims, wanting to at least be of some help to the duo.

Jack was slightly annoyed now, "Mmm. Seems we have a long way to go still. We should be on our way." As Jack and Naruto were about to continue walking, there was a slight problem.

"Um, excuse us." There was no room for either party to continue their walk, with the Scotsman asking, "What do you expect me to do?" Since it was pretty obvious that neither could walk pass one another.

So both the Scotsman and Jack began arguing, until Naruto yells, "ENOUGH! LISTEN OLD MAN! WE NEED TO MOVE FORWARD AND NOT GET DISTRACTED BY AN OLD MAN IN A SKIRT!" Since Naruto was now annoyed.

Hearing this, Jack was about to apologize for his student's outburst, that is until the Scotsman began arguing with Naruto, soon the two were yelling at each other, until the Scotsman quickly drew his sword and tried to slice Naruto, but Naruto had managed to block it with his own blade, unfortunately, due to the larger man's strength, his sword moved close to Naruto's ear, slicing the material that was holding Naruto's forehead protector to his head, making it fall off him, but luckily Jack managed to use his sheathed sword to catch Naruto's headband, knowing how important the item was to Naruto.

Yet seeing this the Scotsman laughs at the sight, "Aw. You're gonna weep now(?)" He exclaims sarcastically, "Shall I pause while you mourn your headband? I can play a melancholy tune to go with your weeping."

Unfortunately, that was the last straw, Naruto took his sword and stabbed it in the Scotsman's bagpipes, straight through it to the other side, catching the Scotsman by surprise, where Naruto pulls his sword away, watching in delight as the bagpipes deflates, Jack watching this decides to let Naruto fight andget his frustration out of the way, while putting Naruto's forehead protector away for safekeeping, all the while giving the two plenty of space to fight.

The Scotsman onthe other hand, "You've done it now." He growls out, throwing his pipes over the side, "I'm gonna turn your head into a floor sifter!" Bringing his sword up, then yells, where both him and Naruto start their fight, each one slicing and jabbing at each other, though the Scotsman accidentally cuts one of the boards, making them realize that their fighting would only have to be jabs and close slices, so they don't fall off the bridge.

The Scotsman was pushing Naruto back, which was making Jack walk backwards as well, but then Naruto began pushing the Scotsman backwards, soon both Naruto and the Scotsman were locking blades, "Aye, you got a lot of pep for a wee laddie, not to mention being fast enough with that mighty sword ya got." The Scotsman soon started laughing, his breath hitting Naruto in the face, causing Naruto to push him backwards, but caused the Scotsman to try and slice him in half.

But Naruto ducks the swipe and jumps into the air, "KIIIIYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Naruto yells out, bring his sword down while hoping what he learnt from Jack would help him, but as both blades clash, Naruto's lightning sparks from his blade hoping to shock the Scotsman, only nothing happened to the sword or the Scotsman, taking Naruto and Jack by surprise, "The tremendous horse-cut technique should have destroyed your sword." Jack exclaims in puzzlement, with Naruto being equally puzzled since while he might not be a master yet at the technique it should've still been powerful enough to destroy the sword.

The Scotsman simply brought his sword up, "Magic runes, lads, all them fancy moves will get you nowhere," Showing the runes that were glowing on the blade, allowing the Scotsman to gloat, "Now quit ya jumping around and get to fighting!" He soon exclaims, where both Naruto and the Scotsman continue their sword clashing.

As the swords continue to smash into each other, Jack decided to let them continue, only problem was that the two hotheads continued to fight through the night and the way to the next day, right into noon, but the two were now slowing down, even with Naruto's stamina he was tired, since while he does train to such a degree even this was too much for him, seeing as he can't use any chakra techniques or his lightning power while on the bridge, such a fight would exhaust even Naruto.

Where both Naruto and the Scotsman were leaning forward in exhaustion, the Scotsman laughs weakly, "Prepare to meet your doom." Though unfortunately he tried to lift his sword, but was struggling due to exhaustion to even move it, let alone lift it, "I'll give you one more chance to give up." Showing that he was too exhausted to continue fighting, but still tried to not show any weakness.

Naruto on the other hand, "F-Forget old man, I may be tired from our fight, but I never give up on anything in my life, t-t-that's a promise of a lifetime.!" Though Naruto soon huffed tiredly, Jack just calmly smiles at his student's never-give-up attitude.

The Scotsman couldn't believe the young man wanted to continue, "H-Hah! Yeah, you're dead tired aren't cha, but I can still keep going too!" He exclaims in exhaustion.

But Naruto simply glares, "Yeah! Then come get me!" Giving the Scotsman an ultimatum.

The Scotsman's eyes widen, "WHA... EH... Ay... ah..." But soon growls in frustration at the blond for putting him on the spot, "Seeing that I'm a sportsman, I'll give ya a moment to recuperate." Though he couldn't help but feel begrudging respect for the young lad, anyone that could stand up to him and take everything he gives had earned such respect.

Thus allowing the two to take some time to catch their wind, with Jack being proud that Naruto stood up against such an opponent, even when they were evenly matched, but he understood that if they weren't on the bridge Naruto would've gone all out with his chakra and lightning.

"CCCCRRRRRAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH!"

Suddenly something caught the groups attention, on either side of the bridge were large wheels heading towards them, ""They're after me(us)! After you!? They're after me(us)!" The group exclaims, with Jack and Naruto becoming worried about being the targets, while the Scotsman was the same.

Soon neither party noticed the pig-sheriff firing a cuff-chain at them, "Aku has a price on me head!" The Scotsman points at himself, with Naruto soon exclaiming, "AKU HAS A PRICE ON OUR HEAD!" While pointing at himself.

Unfortunately neither realized until it was too late, the cuff-chain was soon latched to Naruto's wrist, while the other cuff quickly latches onto the Scotsman's wrist, pretty much chaining them together, making them worried now, with Jack slapping his head about having to train Naruto even more for his environmental awareness, though also train him in not getting too hotheaded with someone.

Soon the giant wheels were getting closer, "You and Naruto are in no condition to fight these odds." While Jack could defend them, the only problem was there was hardly any room for him to get to one wheel while the other continues, and with Naruto and the Scotsman chained together it'd be even more difficult for them to run.

"Especially not with an annoying loudmouth blond strapped to me wrist!" Though the Scotsman insulted Naruto right now they were busy trying to figure out what to do.

Though they realized that the best option was to jump over the side, though while Jack manages to jump over, Naruto and the Scotsman jumped opposites to each other, causing them to fall onto the boards, though the Scotsman began to complain, Naruto quickly realized the best thing to do was to split the difference, even when the Scotsman states he was having second thoughts seeing as they don't know how far they were from the ground, only for Naruto to chop the boards, causing them both to fall through them, but also causing the giant wheels to smash and explode into each other.

They both soon splashed down, landing safely in a large lake/swamp, they soon reached the surface, where they spotted Jack on the banks of the swamp, with the Scotsman complaining about having no idea about where they were, where Jack tells them that until they can get the cuffs off of them as well as find a better place to defend themselves that they need to leave the lagoon.

That is until Naruto's forehead protector fell out of Jack's outfit, making a cling sound, which catches their attention, but causes the Scotsman tolaugh at Naruto's plight, with Naruto glaring at the Scotsman, that is until the Scotsman's own bagpipes washes by Naruto and him, causing Naruto to smirk knowingly.

Though the Scotsman soon see's the look and glares as back, "SHUT IT!" He soon exclaims causing Naruto to try and hold in his laughter, though thankfully Jack had managed to pick Naruto's forehead protector and gave it back to him, where Naruto quickly zips it in one of his inside pockets, hoping to get the material replaced somewhere.

They soon made their way to the land with Jack, though the Scotsman couldn't help but ask, "What's with the headband anyway lad, surely ya can have a better way to keep ya hair out of ya eyes." He couldn't help but be curious.

Naruto looks towards the man, "It means more then that old man, it's a symbol proving that I'm an adult in my village, and had earned the right to be a proud ninja for my village and home, but it's much more than that," Naruto soon pats the place the headband was in, "It was given to me by the one person that believed in my dream to be the leader of my village, he gave me his own forehead protect to show that he not only believes in me but cares about me like a big brother."

Now the Scotsman was impressed, and slightly regretful, "Ah, right, sorry for me teasing and poking fun then lad, but what about ya parents, surely they'd believe in ya too."

Naruto soon looks away, "They died when I was a baby." He soon stated, with Jack looking down in sadness as well, since while he knew his father, before Aku took him away for revenge, Naruto had lost his family just a few moments after they were born.

Now the Scotsman felt even horrible, "Oh, my condolences lad, I'm sorry for ya loss." Though he couldn't help but gain even more respect for the blond, having to leave such a way, yet still came out this bright and full of light, "I guess what they say is true about fighting someone, ya can get to know them through the clashing of blades." The Scotsman thought to himself, with a slight smile.

Though their moment was soon ruined by the bounty hunters looking for them, though luckily the three had managed to hide before they could be spotted, though because of this the Scotsman began asking why Aku was after the Teacher/Student pair, along with bragging about having a huge bounty, though they soon came up to an old wanted poster of both Naruto and Jack,thus causing both Teacher and Student to smirk about their own infamy.

They soon entered a village, though the bounty hunters soon entered the village, only to spread out and continue the search, "I think they're gone." The Scotsman whispers, showing the 3 were hiding in an outhouse, with Jack soon asking, "Are you sure?" Since it was difficult to tell, "Actually Sensei, it is quiet out there." Naruto finishes, agreeing with the Scotsman.

"BOOOOOOM!"

Only for the bounty hunters to destroy the outhouse, showing the slightly blackened image of all 3 standing together, where the bounty hunters end up surrounding them.

Soon both Naruto and the Scotsman agree that being free from each other would give them a better means of fighting, seeing as Jack couldn't take on all the bounty hunters by himself, while trying to protect his student and the Scotsman at the same time.

That is until both Naruto and the Scotsman notice the cannon aimed at them, just as the cannon fires, the large bullet heads towards the shackled pair, where the two jump towards the bullet, aiming their chain at it, thus allowing them to break the chain.

But this also allows them to join Jack in the fight, "Finally, I can go all out on these tin-toys!" Naruto exclaims, rushing into the fray and slicing the robotic bounty hunters easily, while his blade has lightning dancing across it, short-circuiting a few others as well.

This surprised the Scotsman, "WHAT!? Ya mean ta tell me that blade can fire lightning." Wondering why the blond didn't use such a thing on him.

Jack was next to him, "Yes, the blade was forged using the body of a black fire demon, where due to Naruto's will, he beat the demon, while using his own energy to compressed the demon into the blade you see before you, with the black flames being compressed to such a degree that they became purple lightning, but because of Naruto's energy, his blade can't corrupt him or receive any damage from any holy weapons, thus making it perfect for Naruto to wield." Jack states, while fighting.

The Scotsman was shocked, for someone, a young teen no less, to have such a strong will that even a demon of black fire couldn't match him, was nothing short but respect earning, "Alright, the lad is strong I'll give him that, but why didn't he go all out on ME!" Since he felt a little insulted for Naruto to hold back on him, while bashing a robot away.

Jack simply coughs, "That was because we were on a bridge, having no idea how deep the fall was at that time, so he couldn't go "all-out" against you just like you couldn't against him." He explains, while kicking a robot away.

This made the Scotsman understand the reason behind it now, that is until, "HEY LADIES ARE YA DONE CHATTING OR CAN WE GET BACK TA FIGHTING!" Naruto calls out getting both of the men's attention, though all they see is Naruto smirking at them while sitting on a mountain of robot pieces.

Jack couldn't help but chuckle at Naruto's antics, always trying to lighten the mood in someway.

The Scotsman on the other hand, "SHUT IT LAD! WE DON'T NEED TO HEAR SUCH A THING FROM A LOUDMOUTH BLOND IDIOT LIKE YOU! WHO PROBABLY NEEDS US TO HOLD HIS HAND WHILE DESTROYING THESE BUCKET-O-BOLTS!" With that the Scotsman quickly jumps back into the fray again, chopping and carving while counting, with Naruto doing the same thing.

Until a large machine came charging at Naruto, "NARUTO LOOK OUT!" Jack called out, while he was fighting the other robots.

Naruto looks up at the machine, but manages to dodge out of the way of it, where he then holds his blade in a reverse-grip, charging it up with it's purple lightning, where the blade became white with energy, while Naruto's eyes spark with purple lightning, until.

"CRACK! CRRAAACCCKK! CRRRRRRRRAAAAAACCCKKKKK!"

Naruto swings his blade towards the giant machine, with it practically throwing purple lightning blades towards it, slicing and shocking it to pieces, afterwards Naruto simply turns around towards them, with the machine exploding behind him.

The Scotsman just looks in shock, until he shakes it off, "THAT STILL ONLY COUNTS AS ONE!" And continues fighting, where Naruto just smirks and joins them in the fight.

Soon everything was destroyed, with the 3 being back to back huffing and puffing in exhaustion, where they soon noticed that there was no more bounty huntes left, thus allowing them to put their blades away, with Naruto putting his sword on his back.

Soon the 3 began laughing, enjoying their peace for now, where Naruto, Jack and the Scotsman soon calmed down, "Ya know what, I misjudged ya both, especially you me blond friend." He gave Naruto a slap on the back causing Naruto to grunt slightly in pain.

With Naruto smiling, "It's alright old man, I was being dumb too." Since it must've been something from his mother's side to cause him to fight the Scotsman, seeing how the man was a redhead as well.

Soon they began offering each other a drink to celebrate their new found camaraderie with each other, only it began another little fight on who was buying the first round of drinks, until there was nothing but a back and forward argument within the group.

There you have it, Naruto and Jack's first meeting with the Scotsman, I would've used his name, but it never came up in the series so I left it alone for now.

But this is the last chapter I'm doing, since I only wanted to write how Naruto got his own sword, along with meeting the Scotsman and how that scene would play out between Naruto and him, since let's face it, both are pretty much hotheads in their own rights. lol

This episode is Season 1 Episode 11.
