Heart to Heart 41: Childlike Wonder
Participants: Cynder and Sharla
Location: Central Terminal
Affinity: Lavender
Introduction
Sharla: Cynder? Are you just... staring at the Ether lights?
Cynder: Huh? Oh. Sorry Sharla, just got distracted for a second.
Sharla: By the Ether lights? Why?
Cynder: Let's just say they're kind of... calming to me.
Pass/Pass
Sharla: I guess they are, when you think about it enough.
Cynder: You don't even have to think about it that much.
Sharla: Thinking about it, you're honestly right. It's almost a childlike wonder
Cynder: Yeah. Any light in the darkness is a calming sight, at least to me.
Sharla: Is this connected to your past that you've hinted at?
Cynder: Yeah. Let's just say dark caverns and I don't get along.
Sharla: I don't blame you. I was kind of scared when I worked down here, lighting these very lamps.
Cynder: Really?
Sharla: Yeah, I used to think there were monsters down here. But then I realized I was scaring them away for the miners.
Cynder: You were making their port in a storm, so to speak.
Sharla: Yeah. Guess it took this time to rediscover their beauty. Thanks for that, Cynder.

Pass/Fail
Sharla: I guess they are, when you think about it enough.
Cynder: You don't even have to think about it that much.
Sharla: Thinking about it, you're honestly right. It's almost a childlike wonder
Cynder: Yeah. Any light in the darkness is a calming sight, at least to me.
Sharla: Not to toot my own horn, but my first job was lighting these things.
Cynder: Really?
Sharla: Yeah. But I guess I was too busy doing my job to notice what you're seeing.
Cynder: Guess that's a situation common when one grows up to fast.
Sharla: I think we're both speaking from experience there.
Cynder: You got that right.

Fail/Pass
Sharla: I... really don't see it.
Cynder: Huh. Maybe I'm the only one then.
Sharla: I doubt that. It's probably because lighting these things was my first job.
Cynder: Really?
Sharla: Yeah. Guess my relationship with these lights has always been professional.
Cynder: Guess it takes not having had a childhood to see it as an adult.
Sharla: I guess it... Wait what?
Cynder: Oh, nothing. A self comment if anything.
Sharla: Huh. Alright. Guess she's still got secrets...

Fail/Fail
Sharla: I... really don't see it.
Cynder: Huh. Maybe I'm the only one then.
Sharla: I doubt that. It's probably because lighting these things was my first job.
Cynder: Really?
Sharla: Yeah, spent years running around down here lighting these things.
Cynder: That will do it.
Sharla: I guess having to grow up so fast ruined my ability to see these things with the same childlike wonder that you do.
Cynder: Yeah, I can relate to that.
Sharla: Really?
Cynder: Let's just say its a conversation for a later date.
Sharla: Alright. As you wish. I will decipher you one day, Cynder.
