Welcome back to the Xenoblade Heart to Hearts series! Today, we kick off another character in Frontier Village. And this seems to be the place for characters who are only recently returning, because our next character is Melia. So let's not waste a second! Here we go!

Heart to Heart 55: Ride Out The Storm

Participants: Spyro and Melia

Location: Prophecy Hut

Affinity: Lavender

Introduction

Spyro: So this is the Prophecy Hut.

Melia: According to Riki, this is where the village chief gets his mysterious prophecies. I personally say color me skeptical.

Spyro: I wouldn't be so skeptical. I'm pretty sure I've seen something like this before.

Pass/Pass

Melia: You have?

Spyro: Yeah, a dragon known as the Chronicler was the one who I say had the vision.

Melia: What makes you think he saw the future?

Spyro: Well, to start, he helped me regain my elements after losing them for a little bit. But he also taught me how to manipulate time itself to a degree. I had no idea why he had showed me that. Then he tried to convince me to ride out the coming storm of Malefor's return in his sanctuary. But I refused and chose to go rescue Cynder from the enemy. But as their mountain lair collapsed on us, I was reminded of the Chronicler's words and used my Time control to create a crystal shield around us.

Melia: So you think he taught you how to manipulate time because he knew you were going to do this?

Spyro: That's been my theory all these years.

Melia: How could he have known this?

Spyro: His job is to record all of history. And every dragon has their own book in his library, so I've always found it possible that he read my book and saw it was possible that I'd do that. I haven't been back to ask if that's the case. So I can't confirm.

Melia: Hmm... that does sound interesting.

Spyro: One of those mysteries we'll never know the answer to.

Melia: I'm not seeing how this connects to the point.

Spyro: How else would the Chronicler know to show me how to manipulate time unless he knew I was going to do what I did?

Melia: If he knew, why did he try to convince you to stay?

Spyro: He wasn't very convincing. I personally think he was feigning it to keep the timeline in check or something.

Melia: I guess we'll never know for sure.

Fail/Pass

Melia: You'll forgive me if I don't buy that.

Spyro: Just hear me out. It all starts with a dragon named the Chronicler. While helping me regain my elements, he also showed me how to manipulate time to a point. Then, fast forward to when the enemy's mountain lair is collapsing on us, I recalled what he said to me before I left to rescue Cynder and cast a crystal shield around us using that very same power over time, so we could "ride out the storm" as he said.

Melia: That's... certainly an interesting story.

Spyro: To this day, I can't think of a single reason he would have done what he did unless he knew what I was going to do.

Melia: I'll be honest, I can't think of much to disprove that.

Spyro: I guess we'll never know.

Melia: Aren't you also a Purple Dragon, and could use that ability anyways?

Spyro: Yes, I assume I could have discovered it on my own, but the timing just seems off to me.

Melia: Perhaps he simply thought it was a useful skill for you to have.

Spyro: I respect that hypothesis. But I can't help but see something more in it.

Melia: And I will respect that.

And that looks like a good spot to end for today. After so many short conversations, here's a nice long one for you. Sure it's only a theory in Spyro's world, but I'm pretty sure this point about Dragon Time is actually confirmed somewhere. I think there's a link to the answer on the Spyro Wiki somewhere. But anyways, how do Cynder and Melia interact now? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
