I'm running through a dark warehouse. My body is aching as I'm breathing heavily. The sound of an explosion goes off somewhere behind. I keep moving. My black uniform is ripped here and there, stained with dirt and rubble. Scrapes with blood and bruises are visible through rips of my uniform. As I'm rushing through the warehouse, a sudden explosion goes off through the wall in front of me. I cover my face from the debris and try to peer through the cloud of dust. A person in the shadows lunges at me and I brace myself.
I jolt awake, holding my glowing fists up. I grit my teeth as I breathe quickly.
"Hey, hey," Touya is sitting up next to me. "You're alright...you're okay."
He gently places his hands on my shoulders from the side. I glance around and realize I'm in my bedroom, both of us in my bed. My breathing slows down as I come to my senses and bring my hands down slowly, the glowing energy at my fists fading away.
"That's it," Touya calmly says. "Breathe. You're safe."
Once I've calmed down, I close my eyes for a bit. I glance at my clock on the nightstand and see that it's 2:34am.
"You were sweating and talking in your sleep," Touya says.
"Did I wake you?" I ask.
"Yeah, but…"
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be."
I place my hand on my forehead while closing my eyes.
"I was reliving a mission, I guess…" I say.
"PTSD, huh?" Touya figures. "Your years with the Commission...they really messed you up."
"It happens…"
"How do you cope with it by yourself?"
"Breathing exercises...It's gotten better over the years… While I was still living in the Commission housing, I blasted holes in the walls… Medication only made it worse."
Touya stares sorrowfully at me. I recall the traumatic experiences I lived through from such a young age. Touya then leans his head on my shoulder, closing his eyes.
"Those bastards…" Touya mutters. "They put you through so much…"
"I'm alright," I reassure him. "I've gotten better."
"If only I'd been there for you…"
"This is the life I chose," I say. "A life of a pro hero."
"You didn't choose it. You were born into it. The Commission used you."
"Even so, I wouldn't choose any other lifestyle. I have a powerful quirk… I want to use it to help people...to make the world a better place."
"What's the point if it only makes you suffer?"
"I'm willing to sacrifice myself in order to save people, especially my loved ones...like you, Touya."
I turn to him and he lifts his head to look me in the eyes.
"I don't know if I'd ever want your heart," Touya says.
"Hm?" I'm confused.
"Yours is so loving...and you can forgive those who hurt you… I'm not able to."
"It takes time. I'm not always so quick to forgive. Of course I experience anger...but with time, I've come to realize that letting go of that anger is what heals me."
I place my hand on Touya's cheek as he keeps his gaze down.
"I hope that one day," I say. "You'll be able to do the same."
Touya listens as I see his unsure gaze.
It's late in the afternoon later that day. Enji sits at his desk at his agency, looking over some documents with the mounted television on in the background. The news reports on the weather forecast for the week. Enji reaches for his mug of coffee as he reads Shoto's request to continue at his agency for his second Work-Study.
'Shoto...so you wish to continue working at my agency…' Enji thinks.
Enji also sees that Shoto's classmates, Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya, have also requested to intern at his agency. He wonders if accepting those two into his agency is a good idea. Enji's thoughts are interrupted by his office phone ringing to his right.
"This is Endeavor," he answers.
"Enji, this is the Commission President," the woman speaks. "I'm calling to receive your weekly report on Akira."
"Everything has been normal...nothing unusual."
"Has she been training her quirk?"
"She tells me she's been doing it on her own. At the same abandoned warehouses just outside the city at least once a week."
"Any suspicious behavior?"
"What suspicious behavior? Not once has she exhibited suspicious behavior since you took her in as an infant," Enji grows annoyed.
"You know her past and where she came from, Enji...We can't afford any risks."
"She hasn't done anything to deserve such surveillance. I'm bothered at having to secretly report to you about her every week. She's been gone from the Commission housing for almost a year now. Isn't that enough gathered evidence that she's not a risk?"
"Enji…" the President sighs. "I know you've grown fond of her since we first brought her in. You've treated this girl as your own daughter since you rescued her all those years ago… Your feelings are biased. That can construe any observations you have of her."
"What more does she need to prove? Hasn't she done enough for you?"
"Not enough to prove that she won't follow the same path as her parents."
"Akira is not like her parents - she's her own person!"
The President sighs again hearing Enji's frustration.
"As I've said before," she continues. "We cannot afford any risks. There's too much going on now, especially with the League still on the loose and villain activity rising… Akira has made progress because of you. If it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't have allowed her to leave to your agency. Remember that. Continue surveillance of Akira and weekly reports. That is all."
Enji clenches his jaw as the line hangs up. He sets the phone back down, staring bitterly at it.
'She still doesn't trust Akira…' Enji thinks. 'Despite where she came from, she's not at all like that. That's not the Akira I know.'
Just outside Enji's office door, I stop and knock a few times.
"Enji," I open the office door. "May I come in?"
Enji slowly nods at me and I close the door, heading over to stand in front of Enji's desk.
"I've got research to report on the suspicious body parts that had been scattered through the city at least a week ago," I say.
"What have you found?" Enji asks.
"I'm wondering if the Liberation Army has anything to do with it."
"What brings you to that conclusion?"
"Ever since the League of Villains made their debut, it's left an impact not only on hero society but also villain society. This can cause a stir in other villain groups, which can cause rivalry amongst them."
"So you're saying the League is a threat to the Liberation Army?"
"Quite possibly. The Liberation Army has been under surveillance, and they're activity has been suspicious thus far… They're a powerful group at the top of villain society, and they'd like to keep it that way."
Enji sits in thought for a moment after hearing my observations.
"Continue to research on this," Enji finally says. "Report to me whatever you find on the Liberation Army and the League."
"I will," I nod.
I notice Enji has a faint look of sorrow on his face.
"Is something wrong?" I ask.
"No...it's nothing," he responds. "Thank you, Akira."
"No problem," I give him a small smile.
With that, I make my way out of the office.
I'm in my apartment, reading through articles as I sit at my desk. My computer screen shows pictures of people with their profiles. I stare at the screen, wondering about the Meta Liberation Army which Keigo was investigating. The time is 10:15pm. My eyes then land on the red book with a black design in the middle sitting on the pile of papers on my desk.
'The Liberation made its mark on history as one of the most infamous villain groups,' I think to myself. 'The former late leader went by Destro, who was even compared to the likes of All For One. He published an autobiography that became popular,' I grab the red book. 'It follows the philosophy that the free usage of quirks is a basic human right and emphasizes liberation over regulation. But this led to many acts of terrorism which ultimately led to their fall...Even after all this time, it seems they're still active. But the group is now a secret society. With all that's happening, there's no doubt that even they'll make a move in response to the League's growth. After all, there's only room for one group of villains, right?'
I stare down at the red book in my hand in deep thought.
'To think there are people out there who follow this philosophy…' I think to myself. 'It's an interesting one...with valid points...but if absorbed by the wrong minds...it can be a dangerous one.'
My phone suddenly rings on my desk and I see it's Keigo.
"Nice to finally hear from you, stranger," I joke.
"Good evening to you too," he chuckles. "Listen...sorry for not responding to your text. I really appreciate the birthday wishes… I've just been awfully busy."
"It's okay, Keigo. I understand...I know how busy the Commission must have you."
"Right you are! Barely have time for myself! I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
"I'm in the middle of some research," I lean my head back against my chair and sigh. "But a break from this craziness would be nice," I head to the kitchen with the book in my hand.
"What're you researching?"
"The Liberation Army," I grab a bottle of tea from the fridge.
"Why are you looking into them?"
"They seem to be a potential rival group to the League...I wouldn't be surprised if they clashed."
"Hn."
"What?" I question as I sit at the kitchen table to drink my tea.
"Nothing…Has the Commission tried to contact you?"
"I made it clear that I didn't want any contact with them after leaving. It's the least they could do for all I've been through for them."
"Sorry to call you so late."
"Don't worry. I'd rather you call me late to let me know you're still alive."
"Yeah, yeah, you worry about me so much. You're such an older sis!"
"As your older sister, I demand you keep me updated on your livelihood more often!"
"Hey, you're only two days older than me. That's not that much older," he chuckles.
I put the phone on speaker so that I can hold my mug while flipping through the pages of the red book to continue reading through my notes.
"I want to see you again sometime soon…" I say. "I miss you."
"I know...I miss you so much too," Keigo responds. "Maybe next time I'll spend the night again."
"I look forward to that," I giggle. "Just let me know ahead of time."
"I will…" Keigo chuckles.
There's a moment of silence between us. I can't help but worry so much about Keigo, one of the handful of people I consider to be family. I'd hate it if anything were to happen to him while working under the Commission. He and I have been through so much.
"I love you, Akira…" Keigo softly says.
"I love you too, Keigo…" I respond.
"Gotta go for now. Have a good night."
"You too…" I smile.
I hang up but am startled at the sudden slamming of my window behind me. Touya stands there with a glare.
"Touya!" I'm surprised.
"You lied to me?" He scowls.
"What?"
"You and that feathery bastard! Don't lie to me! He's spent the night here with you!"
"No, it's not like that…"
"So you love him, huh?"
"Wait…"
"How many times has it happened?"
"He spends the night sometimes but…"
"How many times has he touched you?"
"Let me explain!"
"I don't need you to explain to me that you're fucking him!" he shouts.
I watch as Touya's flames flare up at his hair and arms.
"I bet you enjoy him in bed better than me!" he continues to shout.
"Listen…" I try to say.
"What makes him better than me?! Is it his perfect looks? His perfect quirk? Just what is it?!"
Tears swell at the brim of my eyes as I watch how distraught Touya is, more flames flaring off his body the angrier he becomes.
"He better not come near you again!" Touya balls his fists. "Or I swear - I'll fucking kill him!"
Touya's cut off by my sudden embrace. He's gone quiet at the sound of my crying as I bury my face into his chest.
"Touya…" I cry. "Please...It hurts seeing you feel so degraded…"
My clothes begin to catch fire as I continue to tightly embrace him.
"It hurts that you doubt my love for you…" I continue to cry. "I meant when I said that you're the only one I love...Yes, I love Keigo...but I don't love him the way I love you."
I stare up into those turquoise eyes of his, tears flowing down my face. Touya sees how hurt I am, staring back into my watery golden eyes. His flames dissipate slowly the more I embrace him. He crashes his lips into mine as he embraces me tightly. This surprises me but I fall into this and kiss him back. He holds me by the back of my head with both hands, pulling me hard into his face to deepen the kiss. His tongue roughly enters my mouth which causes me to whimper a bit. He then lifts me up by my legs, wrapping them up around his waist, and carries me off to my bedroom. As we continue to kiss, Touya shoves the door open and almost throws me on the bed. He begins to undress himself hastily, not wasting a moment. I'm about to reach for the bottom of my shirt but he takes over and starts to undress me himself. He hastily takes off my burnt clothes, both of us naked now. Wasting no time, he spreads my legs and enters me, earning a gasp and light moan from me. Touya begins to thrust, his right hand holding the side of my face while the other he uses to hold himself over me. I reach to caress his back and stomach, wanting our bodies to get as close as possible. Touya deepens and quickens his thrusts, pleased at my hands massaging his body as they work up to his chest and shoulders. He roughly kisses down my neck, leaving bite marks down to my breasts. I whimper as he nips at my skin, digging my fingers into the back of his hair with one hand while digging my nails into his skin with the other. This causes him to groan in response as he roughly massages his tongue into my mouth. I feel myself about to cum, lowering my face away from Touya, too shy for him to see my face full of arousal. He uses his right thumb to bring my face back to him as he wants to see my face as he pleasures me.
"Touya…" I tilt my head back with a moan.
"Fuck…" Touya clenches his jaw.
My moaning and face full of sexual pleasure causes Touya to finish inside me as well, letting out a groan of his own. His thrusts stop as our panting fills the silence, Touya still between my legs. He stares down at me for a moment before planting another kiss on my mouth. I deepen the kiss by holding the sides of his face.
"I'm sorry…" Touya breaks the kiss. "I couldn't control myself…"
"It's okay…" I shake my head. "I wanted this too."
Touya continues to stare deep into my eyes as I return the gaze.
"Don't ever let another man touch you the way I do…" he says.
"You're the only man I'll ever let make love to me," I reassure him.
Touya lightly brushes his thumb on my brow as we continue to share gazes of love. I can tell he regrets ever making me cry and hates himself for it. It breaks my heart knowing he's so degrading of himself, but I don't blame him since he's come to learn that. Afterall, that's what ended him up in his current physical and mental state - his state of not being good enough. He caresses my white hair once more before lowering himself to plant another deep kiss on my mouth as we hold each other close.
