Chapter 3: A New Mission
*Flashback from Chapter 2 Continued*
Shego awoke in her room, still in her Team Go outfit. She sat up and noticed that all of her wounds were gone, and she felt as if she had never been in a fight at all. Upon remembering the cyborg man, Shego quickly sprung up and rushed out of her room to look for Drew, praying he hadn't been killed. As Shego rushed into the hall outside the room, she found Drakken headed in her direction, looking worried.
"Drew, you'll alright," Shego exclaimed in relief, rushing towards him. "Where's that crazy cyborg?".
Before Drew could even respond, a robotic male voice behind her said, "Here".
Shego spun around, and her eyes widened in horror. Standing in front of her was the cyborg that attacked her earlier, yet he didn't seem to be on the defensive. Out of instinct however, Shego raised her fists which now glowed green with plasma.
"Shego, stop" Drew said in a firm voice.
"You should heed his warning, Shego" the cyborg replied. "I have no intention of fighting you, so don't force my hand".
"BULLSHIT!" Shego yelled, attempting to strike him in the center of his control system.
Deathshadow simply grabbed Shego's wrist like it was nothing and forced her to the ground where he then drew out his sword.
"Perhaps I wasn't clear, Shego," Deathshadow hissed. "You will cease your attempts to attack me or die! I will be staying in this hideout for the time being while Dr. Lipsky provides me with what I need, and he has agreed to help me".
Shego glanced up at Drakken with an outraged look.
"You did what?!" she yelled angrily.
Drakken looked down shamefully at the floor, then said, "It's true, Shego. He said he needs an army of genetically enhanced syntho-drone clones, and I'm giving him what he wants".
"WHAT?! This... this freak is a damn psycho," Shego yelled. "He tried to kill me, and your wanting to help him?! Are you out of your fucking mind?!".
"I intend to end Black Shadow with my army," Deathshadow said. "I'm not the one you should be fighting".
"Screw you, you robotic freak!" Shego spat at Deathshadows metallic boots.
Even though Deathshadow's face couldn't be seen, Drakken could tell that the cyborg must have gotten angry since he saw him clenching his fists.
"I highly suggest you start showing me some respect, Shego," Deathshadow snarled. "I grow tired of your hostility. You should be thankful that I'm planning to exterminate Black Shadow, like most of the other heroes failed to do".
"Fuck you," Shego yelled, standing up and spitting in his face. "Your nothing but a fucking monster! You come inside this place and threaten me, then you try to kill me!? Hero's don't do that! Ron Stoppable and Kimmie would never have done that!".
Hearing Kim's name mentioned must have triggered him somehow, because Deathshadow suddenly grabbed Shego by the throat and slammed her against the wall roughly.
"NEVER MENTION THAT NAME," Deathshadow roared angrily. "I AM FAR BETTER THAN RON STOPPABLE EVER WAS! HE WAS A WEAK, PATHETIC FOOL WHO COULDN'T EVEN SAVE THE WOMAN HE LOVED, LET ALONE HIS OWN LIFE! YOU EVER MENTION EITHER OF THEIR NAMES IN MY PRESENCE AGAIN, I PROMISE YOU RIGHT NOW THAT YOU WILL DIE... AND I WILL ENSURE ITS A VERY SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH".
He then threw Shego down to the ground violently and glared at Drakken.
"That goes for you too, Lipsky," Deathshadow snarled. "That's the one rule I'll be laying out here, and if you ever break that rule even once, I'll do the same thing to you as I did to Shego. As of today, this is my hideout, and you two are simply servants. You will obey me without question, and if you so much as even try to rebel or betray me, I will simply dispose of you both and take this hideout for myself. I am more than capable of learning how to work the equipment and machines in this place, so I highly suggest you heed my warnings and cooperate. I possess abilities that not even Shego could even hope to match, so you'd best remember that the next time you try to harm me".
"She... she won't," Drakken stammered. "None of us will! Just... just leave her be!".
Deathshadow glared over at Shego, then said, "Consider this your final warning. Any more attempts to harm me will mean your death, so I highly suggest you take your anger out on the real enemy, and that's Black Shadow".
Shego simply spat down near his feet in response and said, "You think I'll trust you after everything you've done?! Just who the hell are you?!".
"Someone who lost everything to Black Shadow, and I intend to pay back the innocent blood they spilled and burn their Empire to the ground," Deathshadow replied. "I was once fully human like you, but then Black Shadow altered me, transformed me into something less than human. They took the lives of those I loved and cherished, then turned me into this machine and tried to brainwash me into becoming their puppet, but I struck Ridley down along with his entire fortress and escaped. Black Shadow took something of mine, and now I shall take everything from them".
"What?! Ridley's dead?" Shego questioned in disbelief.
"Yes, as are the rest of his high ranking officers along with that pathetic second in command of his," Deathshadow said with much hatred in his voice. "I ripped that fucking monster to pieces like the animal he was and did the same to his other goons... then burned their fortress to the ground. I shall do the same to the rest of their factions around the globe, and I have their locations along with every single member of their organization in my control units data banks. They can run, but they can't hide".
"W-what?!" Shego exclaimed in shock.
"Don't you want Black Shadow gone? Do you wish to live the rest of your life in fear of being hunted down everyday by puppet governments run by Black Shadow everyday?" Deathshadow questioned.
"Shego... as much as I hate to say it, he has a point" Drakken said with much hesitation.
"Don't tell me your actually agreeing with this son of a bitch, are you?!" Shego snapped angrily.
"Shego, let's face the facts," Drew began. "We've been constantly on the run ever since Black Shadow took over the planet, hiding underground, and I'm sick of it. No one else has been able to oppose Black Shadow, and if Deathshadow really intends to eliminate them, then I'll give him what he wants".
"And what do you think he's gonna do with that army of his once he gets what he wants?! What if he's planning to take over the world in place of Black Shadow?" Shego shot back.
Deathshadow stepped in and said, "I intend to build a one world Government based on peace and free of all crime. I will work to undo all the damage Black Shadow has done and attempt to stop all crime before it can occur".
"One world Government, huh? Yeah, sounds awfully suspicious," Shego snapped. "I don't trust you one bit!".
"I don't care if you trust me or not," Deathshadow replied coldly. "All I want is to see Black Shadow burn, and so should you, so you'd best try and think about who's side your on. If your not with me, then you are against me, and I will destroy whoever is against me! Best remember that the next time you raise your hands against me, Shego. And just so you know, it was you who attacked me first. I have no intention of harming you as long as you don't try anything foolish".
Knowing for a fact that fighting Deathshadow would only result in her death, as he was far more powerful than her, Shego resigned to the fact that she and Drakken would be at his mercy until he got what he wanted. The idea of Black Shadow being eliminated for did bring Shego some relief, but the fact that Deathshadow was using coercion to get what he wanted made her very suspicious. He had stated that he planned on building a one world Government in place of Black Shadow's tyrannical Empire once he wiped them out, but Shego had suspicions about that as well. It was clear that Deathshadow had some sort of unknown intentions, and Shego didn't trust him.
"Shego, please just let it go," Drakken insisted, almost pleading. "Its not like we have a choice anyway".
Shego stood up and stormed off to her room, glancing back at Drakken with a look of betrayal on her face, then said, "You wanna work with that metal headed freak?! Fine! But keep me out of it!".
She then slammed the door to her room and locked it.
*End of flashback*
"Um, Shego? Is that where it ends?" Lloyd questioned in confusion.
"Of course not! But I'm fed up talking about it," Shego replied, sounding annoyed. "That's all I'm gonna say".
"Shego-" Betty began, but Shego cut her off.
"I SAID I'm done talking about it!" Shego snapped angrily, then stormed out of the room.
Betty shook her head and sighed.
"I had a feeling she'd do this," she said. "Shego's never been easy when it comes to this topic".
"Well, you did say that Deathshadow tortured her and murdered her family, so I can't blame her for being sensitive about bringing him up," Lloyd replied. "We probably shouldn't force her to retell everything. I think I've got a pretty good idea of what happened from what Shego already told us".
"I agree," Betty nodded. "But to basically make it short and simple, Deathshadow forced Drakken into making him his synto-drone clone army, then he set off to locate me where I joined his resistance group... and the rest is all history as you know".
"I can't imagine what Shego must have gone through," Lloyd said in a pitiful tone. "Did Drakken suffer the same fate as Team Go?".
"Shego didn't tell me directly, but when I asked her what happened to him after she was rescued, she broke down in tears. That was more than enough of an answer for me" Betty replied.
"Deathshadow most likely killed him too, no doubt" Lloyd guessed.
"Yes, that's probably the case," Betty replied. "So, your probably wondering why I called you in here earlier".
"Yeah, why is that?" Lloyd questioned.
"Well, as you know, many resistance forces all over the globe have failed to secure a victory against the Global Empire due to how strong and powerful both Deathshadow and his syntho-drone soldiers are," Betty began. "However, my resistance team have been working on several prototype combat suits made from a combination of human and Lowardian technology, and they've been designed to match the strength of the syntho-drones. However, we only have five suits completed, so me and the resistance will have to decide who gets to use them. However, I will be giving you one of them since you will need a means of defending yourself should you come into contact with any syntho-drones above, and you probably will since I'll be sending you on a few missions to help the resistance".
"How are we going to bring down the Empire? We can't attack it directly like you said" Lloyd wondered.
"In the past, my resistance force and every other resistance force on the planet couldn't succeed on directly attacking the Global Empire since the syntho-drones always manage to push us back, but we may have better luck with these combat suits," Betty explained. "Me and the other high ranking members of the resistance have gathered some intel on one of the Empire's military storage bays near the sea docks where Emperor Deathshadow's Imperial Navy vessels go to restock on weapons and supplies. Its heavily guarded with tons of genetically enhanced syntho-drone soldiers, but I'm assigning you and three others to this mission, and you'll be using the combat suit to assist you".
"Who will be joining me?" Lloyd questioned.
"I'll be assigning Shego, Nelson, and Yori to this mission. You'll be leading it" Betty informed him.
Lloyd felt a wave of relief wash over him to hear that his friend Nelson would be joining him. He had been worried that Nelson might not have made it through all this chaos that had unfolded while he slept inside the cryo-pod.
"Yori? Isn't she that female ninja that Ron Stoppable used to be friends with?" Lloyd asked curiously.
"Yes, she came out of hiding in Japan after Black Shadow was wiped out to join the resistance," Betty replied. "Yori's been in hiding with us ever since then, and she's been mostly secluded in the catacombs of the base in meditation or training. She doesn't come out that much, and when she does, she's not too active around other people. Yori's actually been quite depressed for the last ten years since the death of Ron Stoppable and the destruction of Yamanouchi".
"Speaking of that, what happened to Japan after I ended up in cryo-sleep? Was it ever rebuilt?" Lloyd wondered.
"Yes, Ridley had his Empire slowly rebuild Japan under his rule, then Deathshadow took over the rebuilding once Black Shadow fell," Betty explained. "The regions that were destroyed have been completely rebuilt, but are under constant tyranny from the Global Empire. Yori came out of hiding, hoping to finally be free again, but later joined the resistance after learning what the Empire's intentions were. Well, at least that's what she told me".
"Where's Yori now?" Lloyd asked.
"She should be in her quarters now," Betty replied. "I sent her a message to inform her about the mission, and I'll be informing Shego and Nelson about it as well".
"I doubt Shego will be in a listening mood," Lloyd said. "She seemed pretty pissed off about retelling some of her past".
"You'll have to forgive Shego. She's been through hell like you wouldn't imagine," Betty replied. "Shego lost her family, Dr. Lipsky, and she would have been publicly executed by Emperor Deathshadow if our rescue team didn't make it in time. Also, whatever Deathshadow put her through while interrogating her for information, it's left a lot of scars on her psych".
"I get that, but I mean... she's treating me like I'm some crook when I saved her life ten years ago from Ridley" Lloyd admitted.
"Shego tends to act that way, but she's usually very seclusive whenever the resistance isn't out on missions," Betty explained. "Shego also likes training in the gym room just one floor down from here from time to time. I'd recommend not pushing her too much if she's in a bad mood".
"I simply want to do what I can to help her," Lloyd replied. "Shego kept watch over me for the last ten years while I was in that cryo-pod, and she's obviously been put through hell by that cyborg Emperor, so I want to help her get through the pain she's going through".
"Well, I can understand that you'd want to return the favor since Shego kept you safe, but just don't push her too hard" Betty advised.
"I'll take that into consideration" Lloyd nodded.
"Good," Betty stood up. "Follow me to the special ops room. The combat suits are there waiting for you".
Lloyd followed Betty out of the room and into the hall where Shego stood just next to the door waiting for them.
"Headed off somewhere?" she asked Lloyd and Betty curiously.
"Yes, and I'm in need of you as well" Betty nodded.
"And why's that?" Shego questioned suspicously.
"I have a mission for you, Lloyd, and Nelson," Betty answered. "And I'll also be assigning you a special combat suit to assist you with said mission".
"Is that so? If it involves attacking the Empire directly, count me out," Shego said disdainfully. "You know that attacking the Empire head on is useless. The rebellion hasn't scored even one victory against them thanks to that cyborg freaks army of super soldiers".
"I don't plan to attack the Empire directly like before," Betty replied. "All those attempts have failed in the past, and other resistance forces failed as well, but this mission is a little different".
"How is it different? What do you want us to do?" Shego questioned, growing a bit more impatient.
"Well, I figured that since attack the Empire directly hasn't worked, we'd weaken it by other means," Betty explained. "And we'll start by attacking the Empire's military storage bays near the sea docks where most of their Imperial Naval Vessels are kept. We need to destroy at least three of them before the Empire sends in backup".
"That's suicide," Shego countered. "Those places will be heavily guarded by Imperial super soldiers, and they'll surely send backup if we start blowing things up".
"You'll have a much better advantage over them this time," Betty replied. "The special ops team designed and built several special suits that will enhance your strength, speed, and durability. Lloyd and Nelson will be getting one of these suits, and so shall you. This will give you a great advantage over the super soldier syntho-drones, and they have special abilities that can help you fight against them more easily".
"Combat suit? Is it like that battle suit that... that Kimmy used to use?" Shego questioned, slightly on edge when mentioning Kim Possible.
"It's very similar since the special ops team designed these suits using technology from Kim's old battle suit mixed with Lowardian technology. The only difference is that they have a strong armor that can protect you more easily" Betty replied as she and the group entered an elevator.
"This should be interesting then" Shego replied.
Lloyd was a bit curious as to what these combat suits would be like once he saw them. Lloyd wondered how Nelson was doing for the last ten years while he slept inside the cryo-pod. It would be nice to see him again after being asleep for the last ten years. While it had seemed as though it had only been a day or so for Lloyd, ten years had really passed, and many things had changed. He was nervous to see the outside world again after learning what had become of it, especially with the idea of possibly running into another one of those syntho-drones like before. Lloyd had gotten lucky that one time because of Betty, but he knew that next time, he might not be as fortunate. Once the elevator stopped, the doors opened to reveal what looked like a science lab filled with various sci-fi looking weapons. Dr. Kyoka and Nelson were in there checking out something hanging on several metal racks when they turned to face Betty, Shego, and Lloyd.
"Lloyd! Your finally awake" Nelson exclaimed happily.
"Yeah, I sure had a long beauty rest" Lloyd joked.
"A bit too long if you ask me" Shego scoffed.
Betty then turned to Dr. Kyoka.
"I've already informed Lloyd and Shego about the combat suits and the mission. Are they ready?" she asked.
"As ready as they'll ever be," Dr. Kyoka replied, glancing over to the strange black outfits on the racks. "Have a look".
Lloyd, Shego, and Betty approached the suits, getting a closer look at them. Hanging on the metal racks were five black colored suits that resembled tactical armored body suits, and they all appeared to be of the same size. Lloyd reached out and lifted the suit off the racks, expecting it to be heavy since it looked thick, but it actually felt incredibly light. The suits right wrist also appeared to have what looked like a large metal band of same sort around it, and there was a small power button on the bottom.
"How do I put it on?" Lloyd asked, looking for a way to open the suit.
"See that wrist band right there on the right wrist of the suit? Just press that power button on it, and the suit opens up in the back to allow you to step inside it" Dr. Kyoka pointed out.
Lloyd reached down to the small yellow button and pressed it, then set the suit down on its feet as it opened up in the back. The entire back part of the suit opened up, allowing Lloyd to walk right into the suit, then it closed up around his entire body. The suit felt quite comfortable and light despite the armor built into it, and Lloyd felt much stronger than before. The suit also glowed orange in the front, arms, legs, and back as it powered on, and even the wrist control band glowed as well; it was a bright golden yellow.
"Wow, this suits amazing" Lloyd exclaimed, gazed down at the suit and feeling it over.
"Whoa, I gotta try one" Shego exclaimed, taking one of the other suits off the rack and pressing the control button on the wrist band.
The suit opened up in the back and Shego stepped inside it, then it closed back up. The suit then began to slightly change shape to fit Shego's female figure and the size of her chest, then it glowed bright green along with the wrist control band as opposed to the orange and yellow color of Lloyd's suit.
"Now this is cool, and it's also my color" Shego grinned, gazing over herself in the new suit.
"And it changed shape," Lloyd added. "These are some pretty interesting suits".
"They can do much more than that," Dr. Kyoka informed them. "Once Nelson grabs his suit, Betty will show you all to the training room to test them out".
"Sweet," Shego replied. "I think I'm gonna like this suit more than my old outfit".
Nelson took one of the suits off the rack and put it on, and the emission color was the same as Lloyd's suit; orange and yellow. Once everyone was suited up, Betty led them across the room towards a large metal door which was marked as "training room". Betty pressed a button on the side of the wall and the door opened, revealing a large square room inside that had grid patterns on the walls, ceiling, and floor.
"What's this grid thing?" Lloyd questioned in confusion.
"The training room has a ton of holo-emitters built into it that we use for training exercises. This whole room can simulate real battle scenarios using holograms and can even create holographic scenes and landscapes as well," Betty explained. "I'll generate a few random imperial syntho-drones for you all to start with. They'll all be set at level 1, so it shouldn't be too hard for you to take them on. Remember though, the real thing will be much different. The Emperor's syntho-drones are extremely intelligent and can think faster than a super computer, so you'll need to be on your guard at all times".
"Can they easily outthink an opponent?" Lloyd asked worriedly.
"In most cases, yes, they can," Betty replied. "That's what makes them so dangerous. Its not just their strength and near invincibility that makes those syntho-drones a threat, its mainly they're level of intelligence. The longer you spend fighting them will increase their knowledge on how to defeat you. This is how many other resistance forces have lost to them, but with these suits, you might have a better chance at defeating them".
"I'll gladly take those freaks on if it means I can bash their heads in," Shego said. "They deserve no mercy after all that they've done".
"Hopefully, that'll be possible with these suits," Nelson said. "If they prove successful, this could be the start of a small turning point for the resistance".
"I hope so, cause I'm tired of that cyborg freak ruling this planet like its his," Shego replied in disgust. "He's ruined so many lives just because people wouldn't live the way he wants them to live".
"Hopefully, we can change that," Betty said. "I'll grab one of the combat suits in the ops room and join you three, then we can begin the training".
Dr. Director then exited the room to grab one of the combat suits, eager to test it out and hopefully have a way at long last to fight back against the Global Empire. It would be a long shot, but if these suits worked without any problems, the science team would be able to mass produce more combat suits for everyone in the rebellion to finally give them a chance to one day take back the world from Emperor Deathshadow. He would still be the main concern though, as the Red Rage made him beyond powerful, and Betty was also pretty sure that a combat suit wouldn't stand a chance against him in a fight.
"These suits have got to work, or fighting against the Empire and winning won't be possible" Betty thought as she grabbed one of the combat suits off the racks, eager to train with the other three.
...
...
Within the depths of the Imperial Palace in D.C, Deathshadow stood in the center of a large room where tons and tons of syntho-drone and human scientists were hard at work constructing a massive satellite along side a second one just next to it. The first of two had been completed, yet the second satellite still required two more weeks until completion. One of the syntho-drone scientists approached Deathshadow with a report; this one was female and bore a slight resemblance to DNAmy.
"Lord Deathshadow, you wanted a report?" the scientist asked.
"Yes, I do," Deathshadow replied. "Is the final satellite coming along well?".
"Indeed it is, my Lord," the scientist nodded. "Once construction is done, we'll be able to load up the special packages to them, then they'll be ready for launch".
"Good," Deathshadow replied, sounding pleased. "Then its only a matter of time until the next phase of Project Mothermind can begin".
"Me and the other science teams have done several simulations, and we believe that both satellites will be able to deliver the packages without any trouble," the syntho-drone scientist explained. "Will your own mind be able to withstand... well, all of them?".
"Yes, it will," Deathshadow nodded. "I will finally bring about true peace to this planet once the final phase is complete. There will be no more rebellions, no more resistance, and no more free will. The Global Empire will finally achieve eternal peace with this method".
"A bit extreme, but necessary to finally put an end to all the resistance movements brewing about everyday for the last ten years" the female drone commented.
"All the ungrateful people on this planet have left me no other choice," Deathshadow replied coldly. "Every single day, new resistance movements form somewhere in the world to try and destroy the peace that my Empire has provided. More and more people continue to try and restore freedom to the globe, and that is something I cannot allow. I will not allow freedom to resurface, as that would also bring back crime and corruption, so Project Mothermind is the only option left to end all of this nonsense once and for all".
"Then it shall be done, Lord Deathshadow," the drone nodded. "I'd best get back to work now if you don't need anything else".
"You may go now" Deathshadow nodded, then the scientist headed back towards the satellite.
The cyborg Emperor gazed at the completed satellite just next to the one still under construction, awed by how well it had been built. Both satellites resembled large diamonds with orbital thrusters built on each side to keep it in orbit above the Earth once launched into space, and near the bottom of the satellite was a large device that would carry and deliver a special package that Deathshadow himself had created for both satellites. It was a special package that would be delivered during the final phases of Project Mothermind, a package that would allow Deathshadow to finally eliminate all rebellions on the planet.
"Soon, humanity will no longer have the free will to resist, and there will be no more fighting or wars," Deathshadow said softly. "I will lead humanity into a new era, an era of peace and one unified mind. I will have truly eliminated all crime and corruption once both satellites are launched and the packages are delivered. For once, I will be able to sleep well".
Deathshadow then turned and walked out of the room, his mind swarming with thoughts on what he'd do once Project Mothermind was complete.
...
...
Lloyd blasted a syntho-drone in the head with a fusion blast from his suit, blowing it apart instantly. The drone then melted into ash on the simulated ground. Dr. Director had created a simulation of an Imperial Weapons Storage bunker to give Lloyd, Shego, and Nelson an idea on who they'd be up against. They had run through a few simulations and had a little trouble at first, but Lloyd and Shego proved to be quite effective in combat. Shego especially seemed to fight with tons of aggression towards the syntho-drones, which Lloyd had no doubt stemmed from her hatred towards Deathshadow. Lloyd found that the suit had the ability to materialize a futuristic face mask over his mouth along with a headgear on his forehead with three yellow lights on it and hearing enhancers, but that wasn't all it could do. The suit could also spawn a tactical visor over Lloyd's eyes for advanced tactical sight, and it also had the ability of flight as well. With the touch of a button on the wrist control band, a set of grid like cyber wings would materialize on the back of the suit to allow Lloyd to fly, and the suit even had an invisibility option too that could render him invisible for a short amount of time.
"Well done, everyone," Dr. Director announced as she ended the simulation. "You've all gotten the hang of your new suits pretty well, and your combat skills are quite amazing".
"I've still got it even after sleeping for ten years" Lloyd commented.
"Kicking ass never gets old for me" Shego said in a prideful voice.
"I feel a lot stronger in this thing" Nelson added, looking over his suit.
"Alright," Betty began. "Now that you've all got the hang of your new suits and have gotten an idea of how these syntho-drones think and operate, I'll be laying out the details of your first mission. Computer, load mission instructions for "Operation Sea Slayer".
A holographic image of a large warehouse appeared in front of the group, and it was a huge one. The warehouse was about the size of a zeppelin hanger, and there were tons and tons of large, medium, and small sized crates inside it. There were also tons of forklifts parked on different sides of the building for loading and unloading.
"This here is the Empire's largest military weapons storage and manufacturing warehouse where the Imperial Navy constructs and restocks on weapons and parts for their ships. Your mission will be plant several C4 bombs onto shipments of Imperial Submarine torpedoes stored inside the warehouse. Also, you'll need to take out as many syntho-drones as you can, and there's sure to be lots of them since its the largest warehouse in New York".
"Uh, won't the drones just call for backup? We start attacking and killing them, and they're gonna call more of their cheery buddies" Shego questioned sarcastically.
"That won't happen, because I have a device that will jam all communications across the warehouse and a few blocks around the surrounding property," Betty explained. "Nelson will place the device in his fusion suit, and it will extend a jamming field all around the warehouse to prevent anyone from calling for help. Once you get inside the warehouse, Nelson will activate the signal jammer, then all of you will plant the charges to blow the warehouse sky high. Once its destroyed, the Imperial Navy will be greatly weakened since they'll be unable to restock or supply their ships with new weapons and ship parts".
"I doubt that'll bring us a victory against the Empire" Lloyd said.
"No, it won't" Betty replied, shaking her head. "But it will give us a chance to slowly weaken the Global Empire. The Imperial House in Washington D.C is the main capital of the Empire, and that's where Emperor Deathshadow resides. My resistance forces once tried launching an assault on the Imperial Capital to take back their freedom, but Emperor Deathshadow and his Imperial syntho-drones easily wiped them out and greatly reduced the rebellion to almost nothing; we were forced to retreat back into hiding after that. We'll instead target the Empire's vital factories to weaken them instead, as we can't take Deathshadow head on even with these combat suits due to how powerful he is".
"Well, we'll need to find someway of dealing with him, cause he's the main problem here" Shego inquired.
"As of now, I don't know how anyone would be able to fight Deathshadow. His dark power makes him so incredibly powerful that its impossible to even land a hit on him," Betty said. "And if you ever happen to encounter Deathshadow, never attempt to engage him in battle; he will most certainly kill you if you do".
"You don't need to even remind me," Shego replied, sounding disgusted. "He took everything from me... and I can't even fight him due to how powerful he is".
"We'll find a way to stop Deathshadow somehow," Nelson assured her. "He's got to have some sort of weakness that we can exploit".
"Deathshadow is not our main concern right now," Betty said. "We need to focus on the mission".
"When do we head out?" Lloyd asked.
"In about ten minutes," Betty replied. "I'll be prepping everything we need for the mission, then we'll be heading out".
"If your coming with us, who's gonna be in charge of the base?" Nelson asked.
"I've spoken to Yori, and she's agreed to keep watch over the base until I return," Betty answered. "Yori's quite skilled at commanding the resistance when I'm not around".
"I thought you said she isn't too active around people" Lloyd said with a confused look.
"Most of the time, she isn't," Betty replied. "But when I head out, I place Yori in charge of the base since she's very skilled with leading and giving orders. She's proven to be quite a great leader in the past".
"Well then, with you along, things should go a bit smoother" Lloyd said in a relieved voice.
"Hopefully with these new suits, it should be successful," Dr. Director replied. "Follow me to the parking garage. We'll be heading to the warehouse in a small hover van; it has a cloaking device to stay invisible on the Empire's radar".
"A hover van?" Lloyd raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, some of the cars out there use anti-gravity instead of tires to drive on the road, although a few still use tires," Betty replied. "We managed to get our hands on a few anti-gravity vans with cloaking devices. The Empire commonly uses them, but we managed to remove all the Imperial tracking systems on the captured vans to prevent us from being tracked by Emperor Deathshadow. We'll be using one of those for the mission".
"This'll be interesting" Lloyd said.
"Yes, now lets head to the parking garage" Betty replied.
Lloyd, Nelson, and Shego then followed Betty out of the training room, through the special ops room and back into the hall leading to the elevator. As everyone headed into the elevator, Lloyd felt a bit of nervousness running down his spine. He and the others had already fought through three training simulations set at normal levels, yet those simulated syntho-drone soldiers had proven to be a very tough challenge to beat, but now Lloyd was about to face the real thing. He knew for sure that the real syntho-drones wouldn't be anything like the fake ones in the training chamber, and the danger would be very real. It had only been about twelve hours since Lloyd had emerged from cryo-sleep, and he was already headed out into action again so soon. He wondered what the rest of the world above would look like once he got outside again. Lloyd had only seen a little bit when he had unintentionally exited the underground resistance base and ran into that Imperial soldier, and it looked unsettling, but Lloyd had a feeling that the rest would be much worse. And given what he had learned up to this point, Lloyd was pretty sure that danger would be lurking around every corner on the surface wherever he went, and he made a mental note to prepare himself for whatever was coming.
A/N: Seems Shego had quite a history with Deathshadow, and Lloyd is now headed into action yet again. Will his new mission be a success, or will it end in failure like so many other failed resistance movements in the past? And just what exactly is Project Mothermind? Stay tuned to find out.
