Prologue: Anansi
The prologue is a shorter teaser. It picks up where this fic does a gecko tail from the canon storyline—right during the Anansi episode. There's some changes from the episode itself. Namely, it's Ladybug who gets captured by Anansi while Cat Noir (somehow) manages to keep his cool long enough (and not go charging in to rescue her) to listen to Ladybug's clues that he needs to find Master Wang Fu. Maybe she throws her Lucky Charm conjured item at him for emphasis. Therefore, it's Cat Noir who seeks out Master Fu and gets the turtle miraculous and gives it to Nino Lahiffe to help save Alya Cesaire (see canon episode for clarity; those details haven't changed.)
That means it's Cat Noir and Alya who know Nino is Carapace. Ladybug has no idea his real identity. One thing important with this fic is who knows whose identity, and who doesn't know.
However, all of this is the background focus. What's important in this prologue is the adult character in a hooded coat moving behind the scenes. She uses the battle as a distraction, watching for a moment, and then sneaks into a secret entrance into the catacombs beneath Paris. After a bit of ambiguity, it's not-so-subtly hinted that the mysterious stranger is adult Bunnyx from the future.
Bunnyx follows the rabbit trails of the catacombs (pun intended) until she finds a specific mausoleum with eight graves. She then grave-robs one item from six of them. The seventh one has its item missing already, and the eighth one is not-so-subtly a tribute to a butterfly hero. Fluff comments about the seventh missing being a surprise, but Bunnyx, knowing the future and all, isn't surprised that one is gone. Maybe she even mentions it was taken to "The New World" around The War of 1812. Bunnyx remarks that what she's doing now is vital to shape the world into the good future that she knows, and Fluff tries to follow along with her explanation. The upcoming events won't be easy for anyone, and Bunnyx knows she can't get seen doing what she's about to do. It's implied the first place she needs to visit is a stationary/art store.
