A/N: Good morning, everyone! I hope you've all had a wonderful week so far! It has been a CRAZY eventful week for me, let me tell you! Details at the end of the story, but for now, enjoy the next installment of Don't Deny Me!
Chapter Five: He Doesn't Have Feelings
One Week Ago…
Katsuki slammed his fist into a door with more force than was necessary, scaring some nearby girls who scurried away, giggling as if he'd amused them. However, through his angry haze, Katsuki noticed nothing around him as he stalked to class…that is, until he ran into a rock.
"Hey, Bakugo!" Kirishima gave him a playful punch in the arm. Katsuki just scowled. His cheek was still red. It wasn't visible, but he could feel it like a sunburn against his skin. The feelings she'd burned into his skin with her lips still pissed him off. "What's got you in an extra pissy mood this morning?" His friend joked, walking alongside him even though he was unwelcome. Why did people he wanted to avoid the most insist on following him around? He must have been cursed.
"Shut up." The words held no conviction, and clever Kirishima picked up on the lack of fire immediately.
"Oooh, something happened! Come on, you can tell your best friend! Does it have to do with your secret plans from yesterday?" He urged him with an obnoxious gleam in his eye.
"You're not my friend, you damn extra!" He shoved him away but the act didn't faze him in the slightest. He was used to Katsuki's abrasive behavior by now and rarely took offense to his attitude.
"Did you get into another fight with Midoriya?" he asked as they continued walking. "You shouldn't beat yourself up every time you lose, man."
"SHUT THE HELL UP—I NEVER LOSE TO THAT DAMN NERD!"
"So, you won?" Kirishima sounded puzzled. "Then what are you sulking about?"
"I DON'T SULK."
"Did you have bad pork?"
"SHUT UP, YOU IDIOT! IT WASN'T BAD PORK I JUST HAD A SHITTY DAY WITH SOME ANNOYING-ASS CLASSMATES!" His hands were balled into fists at his sides. He started to stomp his feet as he walked.
"Wait, so was it Midoriya?" Kirishima pressed.
"IT WAS THAT NEW GIRL AND ICY HOT, OKAY?! IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT THAT LOSER!" Katsuki was tired of hearing about Deku and how great he was and how inspiring he was and how damn cool he was. He was just a fake—not a real hero.
"Ooh~" Kirishima grinned. "Aisla hung out with you, huh? Did she like the shirt I picked out? Bet she did." His smug-ass look made Katsuki want to murder him right there in the hallway. "You know, she's pretty hot, man. All that long blonde hair and those sexy legs." He waggled his eyebrows suggestively. "Not a bad choice as far as girlfriends go."
Before he even realized what he was doing, Katsuki's fist connected with the side of Kirishima's face. He heard the loud crunching sound as his friend's body smacked against the wall across from them before he landed on the floor, face full of shock.
"The hell was that for, man?!" he demanded.
"Don't ever say that shit again!" Katsuki's whole body was shaking with anger, and students roaming the halls had stopped to stare. Aisla, though farther down the hallway, was both somehow too close and not close enough. Her bright blue gaze locked on his. "She's not my girlfriend." He spoke to Kirishima but his eyes stayed trained on pools of shimmering blue. She gave a rueful smile and nodded before disappearing down the hall.
Suddenly, he was wrapped in cloth and forced against the wall. Blazing red eyes met his, along with a very pissed off expression that probably matched Katsuki's.
"It's time for class," Mr. Aizawa informed everyone, eyes still locked on Katsuki's. "Playtime was over in kindergarten." He released his hold and let Katsuki fall to the ground.
Katsuki pushed to his feet and ignored anyone who tried to catch his eye as he stomped to class.
Days went by without a word from Aisla or Icy Hot. Ever since he'd made a scene at the training arena by almost blasting her tiny body across the room, both of them had been avoiding him. He wanted to say he preferred it that way—because obviously he didn't miss when the new girl talked to him every day—but it had been a quiet week. Not even Deku had been bothering him. Kirishima was off annoying god-only-knew who, and Kaminari was spending his days with Mineta, who seemed to be his new best friend.
Katsuki was alone and that was exactly how he liked it. He didn't need a stupid girl; he didn't need Kirishima or Kaminari or anyone else. He was a solo player in this game, and that was how he was going to get to the top.
Still…
The memory of her lips on his cheek was still fresh in his mind as if it just happened that day. Sometimes he thought his face was still hot and had to smack himself to bring reality back in check. He was an idiot. He couldn't keep thinking about useless things like that. He was a hero, not a pussy submissive like Todo or Deku. Katsuki Bakugo was an alpha male, badass hero who didn't have time for friends, or girls, or girlfriends.
But Aisla…
As if having read his thoughts again, he noticed the girl in question turn and look his way during class, but he refused to meet her gaze. Instead, he slumped in his seat and pouted, feeling sorry for himself but not really understanding why.
Stupid mind-reading quirk, he grumbled internally. Why did she have to look at him like that? Even when she'd been ignoring him, she'd still turn and give him a wistful smile at the end of class each day, as if letting him know that she understood and it was okay. Which was ridiculous because he hadn't done anything wrong—nothing that required understanding or affirmation.
"She's not my girlfriend…"
He sighed audibly, making her glance back at him again.
Stop reading my mind, he silently begged her. There's nothing worth listening to.
Okay, so maybe he had messed up. A little. Once…or twice. Alright, fine, he'd been an asshole.
He was an angry person and he knew it. She was the happy, easy-going type who deserved to be friends with anyone but him. He didn't know how to be a decent friend. He used to have a lot of them, but ever since he'd started high school, he'd let all of those friendships pass through the cracks of time and disappear forever. They weren't real friendships anyway, just second-tier losers who followed after him like obedient lackeys because of his awesome quirk. The only kinda-sorta-but-definitely-not friend he'd ever had was Deku. Katsuki didn't know the first thing about making new friends.
When class ended for the day, he booked it from the god-awful endurance training course before anyone could stop him to talk. He wasn't in the mood to chat with anyone at the moment. He just needed time to be alone and think for a while. Besides, if he had to spend one more minute in that damned place, he'd blow the whole thing up.
He found himself back in the woods where he used to train before Aisla stole his spot. Fortunately, it was empty today. No sign of Aisla nor anyone else. He plopped down on his back right there in the dirt, hands behind his head and eyes closing against the sun. He thought about Aisla telling him meditation helped her control her quirk. He didn't need any help with that, but…he supposed it wouldn't hurt to try it out anyway. Maybe it would help him to feel less angry or something. All he had to do was close his eyes and think, right?
Just close your eyes and imagine the anger fading away…
This is bullshit. I'm not doing that!
The meditation was making him feel even more irritated. He squeezed his eyes shut tighter, fingers digging angrily into the dirt.
Imagine yourself as a hero. Picture yourself out there saving helpless damsels and fighting villains. Imagine yourself rising to the top—become the next greatest hero…
He thought he had been meditating correctly, but suddenly he felt a hand shaking his shoulder and he sat bolt upright, surprised to find that he had fallen asleep in the forest. He rubbed a hand across his eyes and glared at the culprit. He had to blink a few times to clear the sleepy haze from his eyes.
Aisla knelt there next to him, expression unreadable. He noticed that she'd changed out of her uniform and now wore a red camisole top and black skirt—a very short skirt that rode high on her thighs when she sat. Kirishima's comment rang loudly in his mind, 'long blonde hair and sexy legs'
He shook his head to clear it. "What do you want?" He forced as much anger into the words as he could, but he just couldn't get the image of her bare legs out of his damn mind. She did this on purpose. She was trying to trick him into being nice or some dumb shit like that.
"I thought you might be here," she explained. "I was looking for you."
"What the hell for?" he demanded, not glancing down at the way her fingers sometimes gripped the edges of her skirt bottom, making it ride even higher. Women were evil, vindictive animals…
Aisla shrugged. "I don't know. You seemed upset in class and I wanted to make sure you were okay."
"That's fucking stupid," he muttered, eyes still on her curling fingers.
A long, tense moment of silence passed between them before words spilled abruptly from her pink lips.
"Katsuki…do you hate me?"
His eyes shot upward, meeting hers without permission.
She's never used my first name before… he realized. Her eyes were so blue in the fading sunlight and shimmered like a kaleidoscope, color shifting from dark to light to dark again.
Mesmerizing.
It's the fucking skirt playing tricks on my mind, he decided a moment later, again shaking his head and this time turning toward the sunset so he couldn't look at her damn skirt again.
"Never said I hated you, I just said you were stupid." He spoke quietly for once, eyes trained on the setting sun, even as his periphery picked up on Aisla's form settling in beside him.
"I like you, Katsuki Bakugo," she said outright, quiet and hesitant as if afraid of his reaction. She was always like this, wasn't she? A total contradiction. Somehow shy and insecure, while simultaneously bold to the point of embarrassment.
The tips of his ears went bright red. "That's fucking stupid," he repeated, but the bite wasn't there. He wasn't sure how to feel about her admission, or what the words even meant coming from a girl like that, but his chest gave some weird twisting feeling he'd never felt before.
She gave one of her soft laughs. "Maybe, but I think you're a genuine person, and I had a lot of fun with you at the fair." She paused for a moment, perhaps waiting for him to respond. He didn't. "I think you're a really great hero, Katsuki." The words were a whisper on the wind.
She thinks you're a hero.
"Why?" He couldn't stop himself from asking.
Small shoulders lifted. "I've watched you since I came to UA, in the training exercises. And I've talked with our classmates. Everyone thinks you're going to be one of the best heroes we've ever seen. But then that day at the fair…" Again, she paused, but this time he was sure she wasn't expecting a response. "You made me feel special and important and worthy of your time. And when we went on that really scary ride, you put your arm out to keep me safe. There's more to being a hero than just capturing villains, and I think you're the best one I know."
Had he really done all of those things? In his mind, he'd been a heartless ass while Todoroki did and said all the right things. He was a mess, an idiot, and a jerk. He wasn't a hero, not for her.
"Don't be stupid, I didn't do anything. " He was dismissive, embarrassed. "You just don't remember it right because it's been so damn long since it happened. Go ask Todo or whoever to be your hero."
"But I want you, Katsuki."
He breathed in slow and deep, wanting nothing more than to run away from this stupid conversation. "I don't have feelings," he murmured. "And that thing you did? That thing on the bus? With your…uh, mouth?" He waited a moment, watching the smirk settle onto her lips, those lips that touched his cheek… "Don't think you can just do that again, alright?!"
"You don't want me to kiss you again?" she asked, arching an eyebrow. Her tone suggested she didn't believe him.
"DON'T DO IT AGAIN!" he shouted, then jumped to his feet and glared down at her, only to find his eyes landing directly between her breasts. He forgot what he was saying instantly.
"Don't kiss your cheek again?" she specified, blinking up at him in that way girls sometimes did, with fluttery lashes and shit. He hated it.
He stabbed a finger at her. "And don't tell me stupid crap like I'm your hero! Go let someone else be your goddamn hero!"
"Oh, Katsuki!" She giggled and got to her feet as well, brushing dirt from her ass as she did and making his cheeks heat for some reason. He thought she was going to either smack him or kiss his cheek again. She did neither, instead surprising him with a hug. Her arms wrapped around his back. She felt so small and frail like she could wither away if he so much as touched her. "Thank you for being my friend," she whispered into his chest.
His heart thumped wildly against her cheek but he was unable to move a muscle. This was his end. He would fall apart and die at the hands of a tiny girl with no offensive powers. How embarrassing.
He remembered Aizawa's words during their last fight. "Don't underestimate a defensive quirk."
"I never said I'd be your friend," he pointed out when he was able to speak again.
She only hugged him tighter. "You're right," she agreed. "We'll be more than that!"
He shoved her away. "H-Hey! I didn't mean that either!"
She ignored him, already skipping off, back toward campus and the real world. He let her go because he had nothing to say to her. He didn't want another stupid girl hug. He didn't want to talk to her. He didn't care that she was one of the only people he knew who saw how brash he was and wanted to be his friend anyway.
He sighed and sat back down as the sun finally dipped below the horizon and the moon began to glow in its place. Aisla Haru thought he was a hero. He supposed…that wasn't the worst thing someone could think about him.
Katsuki burst into school the next morning with a mission. He shoved anyone who got in his way, looking at each face until he found the one he wanted. There, standing next to the bathroom, talking to Deku of all people.
"Morning, Kacchan!" Deku said and started to go off on one of his dumb nerd tangents. Katsuki grabbed Kirishima by the collar and yanked him into a nearby classroom he knew was empty at this time of day.
"Whoa, what's up, Bakugo?" Kirishima hopped onto a desk like they were having a casual chat instead of an important discussion.
"I don't like Aisla Haru!" Katsuki told him in an angry whisper.
His friend blinked several times, then burst out laughing. "Okay man, whatever you say!"
"It's not funny! She likes me. What the hell do I do about it?!"
"Hmm." He thought about it for a minute, one finger tapping his chin in a dramatic way. "Have you thought about…I don't know, being nice to the girl?"
"Why would I do that?!" he snapped in annoyance. His friend was supposed to help him get rid of Aisla, not encourage her. Katsuki could not believe he was the only person in this school with rational thought.
"So that she falls in love with you, duh." Kirishima rolled his eyes. "It can't be that hard to get a pretty girl to like you. Just do something nice for her or tell her you like her outfit or her shoes or something dumb like that. Girls like that."
"I don't care what girls like!" Katsuki turned and slammed a fist into the wall behind him.
"You've got it bad, Bakugo." Kirishima's tone was sympathetic. "Did she actually say she likes you or is it just instinct? Like a lion sizing up the perfect prey?"
"You're so stupid." Katsuki rolled his eyes but his back was still turned. His forehead rested on his arm as he leaned against the wall, too tired to move. "She just flat out told me, okay?" He left out the part about him being her hero because that was some embarrassing shit.
"Then what's the problem? Just seal the deal!" He said this like it was easy.
"What the hell does that mean?" He was kind of afraid to even ask. When it came to Kirishima, 'seal the deal' could mean any number of things.
"You know, like show her you like her too. Kiss her or something."
Katsuki turned on him. "You don't know anything about girls, do you?!"
He fled the room before his friend could say anything else. Kirishima was an idiot. He didn't even understand what Katsuki was asking! Fucking moron. Like Katsuki would just go around kissing girls. That was stupid! He didn't want to kiss anyone, especially—
"Hi, Katsuki." Aisla smiled up at him when he turned toward her, looking genuinely happy to see him.
"Why do you always show up wherever I am, like some convenient plot device?!" he shouted, loud enough for pretty much anyone in the hallway to overhear.
Her eyes widened slightly in surprise at his outburst. "I'm sorry…I didn't mean to upset you."
"YOU DON'T UPSET ME, OKAY?!" he yelled.
Now she just looked confused. "But—"
He pressed a finger to her lips to stop her from using her annoying voice. He leaned down slightly so he could speak quieter, ignoring the feeling of people staring at him from behind. "You don't upset me, okay?"
"Promise?" she murmured against his fingertip. He nodded slowly. His eyes shifted between hers, unable to look away for some stupid reason. He liked the way they looked and the way the blue always seemed to shimmer like they were reflecting something. Maybe she'd put a spell on him. That would explain the weird feelings he was having.
"Don't ever do that thing again," he said hoarsely, eyes trailing down to the lips that had touched his cheek a few days ago. The edges lifted into a smile.
"No promises."
It was finally the day of their provisional licensing exam and Katsuki couldn't be more ready. He was going to kick so much ass they'd give him a license on the spot! He couldn't wait to see his classmate's faces when he blew them all off the map with his score.
On the bus ride over, Aisla sat next to him because for some ungodly reason buses never had enough damn seats. It was beyond him how he always got stuck sitting with that girl. He scooted as far away from her as he could but the seats were small and she was already starting to fall off the other side to give him space.
"OH, JUST SCOOT OVER, WILL YOU?" he yelled at her. "IF YOU FALL, YOU'RE AN IDIOT!"
She smiled sheepishly and scooted a little closer so their legs were touching—like that last time…when she kissed his cheek…
"You'd better fucking not," he growled under his breath.
"I won't," she murmured back, but now she was smirking and he wasn't sure he believed her. "I'm nervous," she admitted in a quiet voice a moment later. Her fingers were doing that thing again, playing with the ends of her long hair, eyes downcast. He thought she might even be shaking a little.
"About the exam?" he guessed.
She nodded and pinched her eyes shut. "I just can't help but worry about what will happen if I don't pass."
You and me both, he thought
"I've been training a lot," she continued when he remained silent. "I've been working with Todoroki and Midoriya, even Mr. Aizawa has helped me. But I can't help but feel like I'm missing something. I don't know what will happen during this test, but I feel like I'm not as prepared as I could be."
"You stupid idiot," he said softly. "You don't need to worry about that."
He saw her smile from the corner of his eye. "You really think so?"
"Just think about something else," he suggested. "Like how many of our classmates you're going to murder with that quirk of yours!"
Aisla giggled. "I don't really want to murder anyone, but thanks, I guess." She grew thoughtful for a moment. "Maybe I can just focus on things one step at a time. Right now, I'm here with you, and that's enough for me." She flashed him a toothy grin.
He didn't smile back but the edges of his lips twitched just a little. He covered up the slip with a cough. "Well just so you know, I plan on being the best today so don't come crying to me when you lose!"
"It's not about being the best," she disagreed. "It's about doing your best and showing the judges how you can be a real hero. Although to be fair, Class 1-A has already proven that they're fully capable of becoming pro heroes, especially you, Katsuki."
"Psh," he scoffed and ignored the way his name on her lips made him want to blush. "Yeah, well I'm still going to murder all of them, you got that, Aisla?"
She bit back a smile. "Sure."
They didn't say anything for a while but Aisla was incapable of being quiet and Katsuki hated awkward silences so they ended up speaking at the same time.
"Listen, Katsuki," Aisla said at the same time he blurted, "About your quirk—" They both stopped talking and looked at one another. He couldn't quite decipher the expression she wore, but he saw amusement in her eyes.
"You can go first," she offered.
He had to look away before he could speak again. "All I was gonna say was to not let your quirk get you down. And try not to go up against anyone with a mask or with a strength quirk. Let Deku handle those fuckers. You know what, you should probably stay in a group. Just in case."
"Wow, Katsuki," Aisla said flatly, "I don't know whether to be offended or flattered for those lovely words of encouragement."
He looked back at her, perplexed. "What?"
She shook her head in pity. "Silly boy."
He growled. "THE HELL DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!"
"What's going on back here?" Mr. Aizawa was suddenly standing right beside them looking annoyed as ever.
Aisla flashed him a winning smile. "Nothing, sir! Just thanking Bakugo here for some great advice!"
Katsuki swore he heard sarcasm in her tone. His scowl deepened. He thought it was good advice. That was what he got for even trying to be nice to someone. Damn girls.
"Well keep it down, I'm trying to take a nap," their teacher snapped before walking back to the front of the bus.
Someone's head popped up from the seat behind them when Mr. Aizawa was out of view.
"Ooh, did you two just get busted for making out?" Kaminari made obnoxious kissing faces at the two of them. Aisla blushed and it was all Katsuki could do not to throw him right out the window.
"Shut the hell up," he seethed.
"Oh come on, we know you're totally in love. Right, Kirishima?" Kaminari winked at the redhead who sat across the aisle from him.
Kirishima, who must have wanted to survive the day, didn't say a word. He just ignored the taunt and continued reading his manga. Although, Katsuki caught the smug-ass smile on his lips and kind of wanted to murder him anyway.
"They do spend a lot of time together, don't they?" Mineta lisped from beside Kaminari.
"And there's no one else in this school who can put up with Bakugo's bad attitude," Sero added with a snicker. "At least no girls."
Katsuki felt himself getting more and more worked up as his classmates continued to pester them. Aisla looked like she desperately wanted to sink into the bus seat and disappear. Her cheeks were red, and her fingers were twisting the ends of her hair again.
"There's no stopping fate when it leads your heart to love," Tokoyami said seriously.
Katsuki growled. "WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT LOVE?!"
"Love?" Pink Cheeks and Froggy stuck their heads over the back of their own seat, which just so happened to be directly in front of Katsuki and Aisla. "Did you finally confess your feelings, Bakugo?"
"We shouldn't tease him for being embarrassed," Froggy said.
"I'M NOT EMBARRASSED, DAMMIT! JUST SHUT UP ALREADY!"
"Well, I think that love can overcome all obstacles!" Aoyama added from somewhere in the front.
"Indeed," Iida agreed. "There is nothing stronger than love. Have you finally come to the realization then, Bakugo?"
"WHY THE HELL WON'T YOU PEOPLE SHUT UP?!"
"I don't think we're at that point just yet," Aisla said with an embarrassed laugh.
"Aww, you're so cute, Aisla!" Pink Cheeks cooed.
"It's adorable that she's trying to defend his honor!" Acid Chick agreed.
"ENOUGH." This time, it was Mr. Aizawa who shouted. He hadn't moved from his position at the front but his voice had carried all the way to the last seats in the back. They all instantly sat back down and didn't say another word.
"I'm sorry," Aisla whispered. She was doing that damned hair thing again. Why was she always messing with the ends?
"For what?" he snapped. He closed his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest, deciding a nap was actually a pretty decent idea. His classmates couldn't bother him if he was asleep.
"For putting all of this pressure on you," Aisla explained. "I know we're…well, I don't even know what we are, so I'm sorry our friends all jumped to the conclusion that we're, you know, more than that." She paused for a long moment and he thought he might actually get some sleep. Then, "What are we, Katsuki?"
There's that name again. Why does she think she can just call me whatever she wants? And why don't I tell her to stop?
"The hell do you mean?" he grumbled. "We're friends or whatever."
"Really?" she asked hopefully.
"Yeah, well it's not like I like you or anything so don't get the wrong idea!" he hissed.
"I like you, Katsuki Bakugo." He remembered the words from just a few days ago.
He harrumphed and pressed his face against the window, hoping she'd get the hint and be quiet for the rest of the ride. Aisla liked him, but that didn't mean he liked her. And even if he did, what would someone like him do about that anyway?
The rest of the bus ride went by in relative silence. He heard murmuring and the occasional giggle, but for the most part, he only heard the quiet humming from the seat beside him and the soft scratching of pencil on paper as she drew. He wondered what she was drawing and how she was even able to keep a steady hand while the bus was moving. He wouldn't even be able to write his own name much less draw anything decent.
Who am I kidding, I can't even draw when there's no motion.
He risked a peek over at her paper and couldn't help but comment. "What is that?" He pointed at the paper.
She gave a slight jerk of surprise, glanced over at him, then back down at her paper. "It's a cat," she stated, leaving out the implied duh he detected in her tone.
"What's it wearing?"
"A space suit!" she exclaimed defensively. "It's cute, okay?" She pouted and tried to close the notebook but Katsuki slammed a hand down over it.
"You don't have to hide it from me," he said. "It's not…hideous, I guess. You're an okay artist. You're not Van Gogh or Katsushika Hokusai , but I guess you're not terrible."
Her lips twitched. "Really? But does it look like a kitty? Or is it hard to tell?"
It looked like someone had simply taken a photo and printed it onto her paper with all the details she'd added. He could even clearly see the determination in the feline's eyes and the thick fur beneath the suit.
"It looks like a cat," he said.
"WE'RE HERE!" Midoriya squealed from the front of the bus, interrupting the exchange. Everyone immediately started talking excitedly with one another as they peered out the windows.
"I'm so nervous now," Uraraka fretted.
"Me, too…" Aisla agreed in a barely audible tone.
"Well, I'm excited!" Kirishima crowed as he jumped up onto his seat. "Let me at 'em!"
"I think we'll all do well," Tokoyami said. "We've been through much worse than this."
Iida nodded. "I think we can all agree on that."
"Some of us don't have as much skill as the rest of you, though," Hagakure complained. "All I can do is not be seen!"
"That can prove to be quite useful, Hagakure," Iida encouraged.
"LISTEN UP." Mr. Aizawa snapped as the bus came to a stop. "You are not going to embarrass me today. I'm talking to you Midoriya, Bakugo." Katsuki scoffed. "You're all going to do exactly as you're told and you're going to do so without complaint. Firstly, you will all exit the bus in an orderly fashion. I don't want to deal with any of you pushing one another around and risk the need to take a trip to see Recovery Girl this early in the game. Understood?"
"Yes, sir!" They all agreed.
They filed out of the bus, whispering to each other as they did in excited anticipation for what was to come. Even Katsuki couldn't keep the grin off his face. Now, this was his style—fighting and kicking ass, showing everyone how awesome he was. He was ready to get this show on the road and earn his hero license.
However, just as they had all flooded out of the bus, they were stopped by another school. Katsuki didn't recognize them at first, but after a gasp from the small blonde at his side, he recognized the symbol on their uniforms.
Shiketsu High.
They had stopped a few feet in front of Class 1-A and stood there with crossed arms and smug expressions that made Katsuki immediately hate them. What the hell did they want?
"Well, hello there…Aisla Haru."
A/N: That's it, folks! Gearing up for the provisional licensing exams. So this will be the first action sequence type of arc in this story, but there will be more, I promise. I didn't drag it on TOO much, but I wanted to show Aisla's powers a little more so everyone can see what she's capable of. Aisla thinks she's useless and her defensive power can't stand up to everyone else, but maybe these exams will give her the confidence she needs!
Thank you all so much, yet again, for continuing to read this story. Your support means so much to me! I hope you've enjoyed this chapter and look forward to the start of the action next week!

Thank you so much for continuing to read this story and offer advice and feedback!
Now, if you're interested, here's a little story about my crazy week! Long story short, we adopted a kitten, then three hours later we found another kitten in a bush, alone and starving. We picked her up and called every shelter, vet clinic and emergency animal hospital in our area, and everyone told us they aren't accepting kittens right now. With nothing else to do, we brought this little 8-week old baby home and decided we would try to help her ourselves. So far, she's doing GREAT. We were able to get her to eat and drink water, we're giving her some vitamins, and she has an appointment with a vet this weekend to get her checked out and hopefully some shots! She is the sweetest, most loving little girl and I'm so glad we rescued her because, no joke guys, she would have died out there. She was so weak she couldn't even MOVE for a while, and even now she barely moves from one spot to another. She's a smart little thing though. She already uses a litter box, and she comes to us when we enter the room she's in. She's a brave girl. The only problem now is…what to name her! Ideas, folks! What should we name our sweet little Siamese baby?
I'm also on AO3 under the same name!
