Clash

Revan moved out of the way as a blast of heat vision lit up the air where he stood a moment ago. He was much faster than a Kryptonian, but a prolonged battle wouldn't go well, especially in such a populated area.

"Winn how's it coming along?" Revan called out into his comms.

"Working on it man!" Winn's voice crackled into Revan's ear.

"Work faster!" Revan replied as he dodged several punches from the berserk Kara. He then slammed his fist, pulsating with compressed light, into her stomach, sending her back some. Kara, however, looked unfazed, as she let loose her heat vision once more. Revan went to dodge it, when he noticed people behind him at a distance.

Instead, he decided to take the hit. The beams hit his hand, as he stood in front of this berserk Supergirl. But he wasn't knocked back, due to his energy absorption.

"Sheesh that burns, but it is powerful energy." Revan said to himself. "My turn, Girl of Steel." With that, Revan shot out beams out of both his hands, which met both beams of Kara's heat vision. However, this time Kara was knocked back.

"Whoa! What did you do?" Revan heard Alex over the comms.

"Heat vision and Compressed Light mixed into a feedback loop." Revan said as though it were obvious.

"Right." Alex awkwardly said once again. "Winn? Status?"

"Almost done!" Winn shouted back.

Kara flew at Revan with incredible speed. Revan took a micro second to look behind him, and saw buildings and people. He couldn't just dodge this one.

He stepped to one side, gathered a certain type of energy, and hit Kara hard in the face. Much to everyone's shock, Kara was sent hurtling back.

"Was that…" Alex began.

"Red Solar Radiation." J'onn finished for her.

"Is that what this is?" Revan said through his comms. "It did feel similar to Solar energy.

"I got it! It's done!" Winn suddenly shouted out. "Revan come get it."

"On my way." Revan said as he raced back to DEO.

As he entered, however, he stumbled and fell.

"Whoa Revan! What's wrong?" Alex helped him up.

"That Red Sun energy… generating it rakes a lot out of me. Any large scale energy does." Revan panted.

"Perhaps I should join you." J'onn began.

"No. It's too risky. We don't know if you'll be controlled too." Revan said. "I'll go. I've got this."

Revan ran straight back to where he left Berserk Supergirl, but before he could reach her, he suddenly saw ice appear on the ground, and felt his feet start to slip. However, instead of falling, he leaned backwards and slid on his back, the device safely in his hands.

Then he spotted Kara in the sky, zooming straight towards him. Revan knew it would cost him, but he instantly let out a shockwave mixed with Red Sun energy. It sent Kara hurtling back as she crashed into a street light and fell onto the ground.

Revan groaned as he got up and ran to her, trying to put the device onto her, but instead got pushed several feet back, although it was weak.

"Supergirl." Revan called out. Calm down, damn it!" He got up on his feet again, only to find Kara jumping on him, trying to strangle him.

Revan, instead of trying to fight, used the fact that her hands were on his neck, and put the Anti-Mind Control device onto her.

Kara twitched a bit, loosening her grip on Revan's neck, but suddenly started attacking him again.

"Hey Winn! Why isn't it working?" Revan called out, barely holding Kara to prevent her from strangling him again.

"Uhh… I may have miscalculated the power supply. It would work on us but…" Winn replied.

"She's Kryptonian." Revan groaned, clearly tired. "It needs more juice to work on her."

Revan put a hand on the side of Kara's head, and braced himself. He then focused, and let loose a huge discharge of energy. His vision darkened before he blacked out completely.

Kara opened her eyes, to find herself on top of Revan, who was unconscious.

"Oh Rao, Comet?" she suddenly called out. "Comet, come on." Kara picked him up and flew off to the DEO.

Kara landed inside DEO, carrying Revan. "Winn! Alex!" she called out, as they came running. Kara went and put Revan on the bed in the emergency medical area. "What's wrong with him?"

"I don't know yet!" Winn replied, as got a couple of machines up and running.

"Huh, it's that simple huh?" Alex said.

"What are you talking about?" Kara asked. "Is he okay?"

"Well he's spent too much energy too fast." Alex shrugged. "He's bound to sleep it off. I think we should just let him rest, and he'll be up in no time. So now…" Alex trailed off as she walked up to Kara and hugged her tight. "I'm so glad you're okay."

Kara hugged her sister back, but her face was full of worry for Revan. If anything happened to him…

"Kara." Alex called her out of her thoughts again. "Do you remember anything? From when you were under Cizko's control?"

"Not a lot." Kara closed her eyes, squinting.

"Well you need rest too." No one noticed when J'onn had entered the room. "Get some sleep Kara."

"What about-" Kara began.

"Mr. Snow can stay here for the time being. He'll be alright here." J'onn finished.

"Okay.." Kara clearly didn't want to leave, but she reluctantly went to fly to her apartment, when Revan suddenly sat, gasping. "Revan!" Kara nearly yelled as she rushed to him and hugged him.

"Ouch!" Revan exclaimed.

"Oh I'm sorry!" Kara said, letting him go, when Revan suddenly grabbed her and hugged her back.

"I'm glad you're okay." He said, holding on tightly to her.

"I'm glad I didn't hurt you." Kara replied, both of them taking each other in.

"- or anyone else." Kara added, clearing her throat.

"Y-yeah" Revan said, letting go of Kara, and clearing his throat as well.

Alex felt almost physical pain at their awkwardness. It was hilarious.

"Well how are you feeling, Mr. Snow?" J'onn diffused the tension with his seemingly all business approach.

"I'm fine. That much complex energy control and release makes me dizzy and knocks me out. It's no matter." Revan said.

"Well if you're feeling up to it, you can go home." Alex said, but then added. "You sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine now, Alex. Thanks." Revan told her, but then sighed. "I'm just hella hungry."

"Uhh me too." Kara chirped. "Let's go grab a bite."

"Race you to the joint?" Revan instantly asked.

"You're on!" Kara replied, eyes wide, as the two zoomed off.

"Yep, they ain't changing." Winn chirped from his seat.

"Good thing, too." Alex added.

.

.

.

.

"Uhh I missed this." Kara sighed as she swallowed her last burger.

"What losing races to me?" Revan smirked.

"I had that one… almost." Kara weakly tried.

"Yeah sure." Revan said. "Besides you got whammied only half a day ago."

"Even so." Kara protested. "Thanks though."

"What for?" Revan asked.

"For stopping me. From hurting people, and so fast." Kara said. "I've gone crazy and tried to hurt people before…"

"Red Kryptonite?" Revan asked.

"Yeah.. How did you know?" Kara asked.

"I've come across it on my world." Revan said. "Used it once too."

"Right well… last time I ended damaging a lot of things, including my reputation and relationship with my sister and Cat Grant." Kara continued. "I worked so hard to get it back for some time. And… Barry helped me."

"He's always helping, isn't he?" Revan added with a sad expression.

"Yeah…" Kara sighed. Revan had told Kara about his friendship with Barry. "But I had to work hard to gain people's trust, and my friends'. Thanks for stopping me before I went that far this time."

"Don't even mention it." Revan said, taking her hand across the table. "I hated seeing you like that."

Kara looked at him from across the table, her expression soft, same as his, until they realised they were holding hands. They quickly broke off, both of them coughing and sipping their milkshakes.

"Well it's getting late." Kara said.

"Yeah." Revan agreed. "We should get home. Get some sleep. Still have work tomorrow."

"Yeah. You wanna walk? I know you're tired, so…" Kara began, but Revan interrupted.

"I'll walk. Come on let's go."

The two walked in silence again, both of them nervous as hell about the other. If Alex were even nearby, she'd laugh so loud she'd wake people two blocks away.

Suddenly, a dog let out a bark from a distance, making Kara jump.

"Whoa what?" Revan asked, confused.

"Sorry, that dog startled me." Kara replied. "I guess I was on edge a bit."

"Yeah… tough day." Revan said, when they noticed it.

They were holding hands.

Neither said anything, they just started walking, small smiles gracing both their lips, content with the other's touch.

Finally, they reached Kara's block.

"So I'll see you tomorrow, right?" Kara said, still holding Revan's hand.

"Yep. Still have a bad guy to catch." Revan said, still holding Kara's hand.

They both stood there awkwardly for a few seconds, until they finally parted, Kara walking into her building and Revan walking ahead to his own.

The both of them feeling light in their chests.

A few days passed as every other before. Kara and Revan were training at the DEO.

"Come on Kara, keep your guard up." Revan said as they sparred.

"Why are we fighting without powers?" Kara said. They were indeed fighting in a Red Solar environment, with meta-dampeners that Revan had helped them design.

"So your powers don't become crutches. Your powers may be natural to you, but you still need to know how to get by without them." Revan said. "It's the same for a metahuman like me."

"Did you go through this?" Kara asked as she blocked a punch, going to launch one in return.

"More times than I care to count." Revan said, moving his head so her punch went over his shoulder. He then put hid arm around her neck to meet his other hand, locking her in place. "Think fast, Girl of Steel." Revan then lifted her just an inch before tipping her backwards, so she landed straight on her back.

"Owwww ohh." Kara groaned.

"You okay?" Revan said, extending a hand.

"Yeah." Kara groaned back as she took his hand and stood up.

"Alright, that's enough for today." Revan said, turning off the Red Solar Generator and the Meta-dampener. "We've got to get to work too."

"I'm hungry." Kara pouted. "You want something."

"I need something." Revan shrugged. "But I'm a little tired of Burgers and Pizzas. How about we switch it up a little?"

"I know a great donut place" Kara's eyes gleamed.

"Lead the way." Revan smirked, as he followed Kara out of the DEO.

"Do they even notice that we're here anymore?" Winn chirped from his seat, working on his computer.

"Not their fault, Winn." Alex yelled from across the room.

.

.

.

.

Revan and Kara walked onto their floor in CatCo, each with their own box of Donuts.

"See you later Kara." Revan said, and Kara nodded, unable to say anything thanks to a donut already being in her mouth.

Revan got to work on editing today's quota of articles. Of course, it would only take a second for him to finish his work, if he used his speed, but he only read the articles in super speed. The writing he did slowly, so he didn't attract attention.

Kara, however, was busy finishing her donuts, and occasionally sneaking glances at Revan.

That was when there was a crashing sound from the street below, startling everyone, including Revan and Kara. A couple people rushed to the window, Revan joining them.

A police car had crashed into the building opposite CatCo, with more of them racing past, chasing a regular black car.

Revan looked at Kara, who was already using her super senses. He walked over to her to discuss.

"Two policemen went crazy, shot up a coffee shop and stole that car." Kara whispered.

"Cizko's trying to draw us out again." Revan whispered back. "Apparently he wants round 2."

"Should we disappoint him?" Kara asked, smiling.

"Absolutely not." Revan smirked. They knew what to do.

"Winn." Revan called through his comms as they donned their suits again, in an abandoned location of course.

"Yeah." Winn's voice came.

"There are a couple of squad cars chasing two apparently rogue police officers, in a black car. Follow them." Revan told him.

"Alright. You think this is Cizko's work?" Winn asked.

"I'd bet on it." Revan said. "Kara, follow them from the sky. I'll follow."

"Got it." Kara nodded and took to the sky. Revan ran off as well, deftly running and jumping across rooftops to follow her.

"Kara there's no more radio chatter for us to pick up on, you can't lose them." Alex said over comms.

"I won't, Alex." Kara said, soaring through the skies, directly over the rogue cops' car.

"Where are they heading?" Revan asked.

"I have no idea man. Judging from Kara's trajectories, I'd say either the waterfront or-" Winn stopped abruptly, realising ssomething "Kara they're heading to the-" the comms crackled with static as Winn's voice cut off.

"Winn?" Kara called out, to no avail. "Comet can you hear me?"

"Yeah." Revan said, although it was only barely audible. "Looks like it's some kind of dead zone." Then he looked ahead. "And I think I know why. Look."

Kara looked ahead, and saw where they were headed. The radio tower, next to the thermal power plant.

"That's how they were able to hide." Revan said. "No electronics are allowed inside any power plants, and many cities have put up jammers inside to prevent any mistakes. National is no pushover either."

The two heroes followed the police cars as they cornered the rogue cops near the power plant.

"Officers, what's the situation?" Kara asked, getting there first.

"It's very simple, Supergirl." The policemen said, turning their guns towards her. Kara suddenly felt weak, noticing the green glow through the barrel.

"Kryptonite?" Kara gasped.

That was when a familiar flash of white rushed in, and before they knew it, the policemen were locked in their own cars, their own handcuffs on them. Kara no longer felt the weakening radiation of kryptonite.

"You okay?" Revan said, extending his hand, which Kara took and rose to her feet.

"If you don't think fast, we won't be." Revan and Kara turned to the rogue cops, who had some kind of explosives attached to their chests. "There's a pound of C4 along with a powerful nerve gas. One whiff, and we're in a powerful coma that'll kill us if left unattended for long. The units are separate, so if you take off one, the other goes off."

"Where's Cizko?" Kara asked.

"All in good time, Supergirl." One of them said. "One other thing. The devices have kinetic energy detectors on them. If you move too fast within a meter of them, it'll go off. So no using super speed to take them off, either of you."

Revan gritted his teeth, thinking of ways to deal with this situation, when the men spoke again. "The Doctor is on his way. In the meantime, you need to put these on." The two went to the boot of their car and pulled out two devices of the same design, and threw them to the heroes.

Revan and Kara looked at each other before putting them on.

Another car arrived on the scene, and out stepped Cizko.

"Well well." He spoke once again in his British accent. "Now you've fallen into one of my traps, eh?" Cizko said smugly.

"What do you want now, Cizko?" Revan practically snarled.

"I wanted Gayle Marsh, but apparently your friend here didn't like that. This is a consequence of that choice." Cizko said, a bit more serious. "Now I'm going to have some fun. Exciting, isn't it?" Cizko giggled evilly.

"What kind of fun?" Revan asked, playing along just a bit.

"Oh it's simple." Cizko replied, then threw two guns to each of the heroes. "One of you gets shot, the bombs get deactivated. No one does, and they go off.

"What? We're not killing ourselves for your fun!" Kara yelled at Cizko.

"You already did when you came here." Cizko said. "Now pick up the guns, or I set the bombs off."

"And we're supposed to take your word for it?" Revan asked.

"Oh no you'll see for yourself. The devices also have a heart monitor in them. The moment the wearer's heart sends no pulse, it deactivates, and the charges disconnect and drop off." Cizko elaborated.

Revan smiled, although it couldn't be seen through his mask, and then braced himself.

.

.

Kara saw Revan twitch, then spasm for a second, before collapsing. "Wait no! Comet!"

Cizko was puzzled. "What?" he was approaching Revan's body as the charges fell off. "Did he die? His heart must have-"

Cizko was interrupted by a white flash as he found two arms tight around his neck.

"Well? How's that?" Revan's distorted voice rung out.

Revan's vest was now on Cizko, and the charges was reactivated.

"What?!" Cizko yelled, now clearly distressed.

"Comet?" Kara asked. "Are you okay?"

"Never better, Girl of Steel." Revan said, smirking as she could see under his mask. Kara heaved a sigh of relief.

"Now, Doctor Psycho." Revan began. "Here's the deal. You'll turn off your devices all of them, or I take you for a run at Mach 9. Sound fair?"

"But that'll kill me, you bastard!" Cizko yelled.

"Stooping to personal abuse now?" Revan said, the smirk palpable in his tone, even if it was covered by a mask. "Looks like you grand attitude has finally been torn off. And to answer the question you're clearly about to ask… No. I have no problem letting you die. Death is an easy release. So what's it going to be?"

"Alright! Alright!" Cizko took out a small detonator type device, and pressed a button on the side, and the charges fell off from all devices. Kara ripped off the stupid vest from her.

"Nice job, Comet." Kara smiled.

"It's not over yet! Supergirl!" Cizko yelled out.

Kara's eyes suddenly went wide, then blank. Revan was afraid, he'd felt the vibrational burst from Cizko. Did Kara get whammied again?

Kara walked up to Cizko in the same monotone attitude.

"Kill him!" Cizko ordered.

Kara looked at him, then smiled and said, "Nope." She then proceeded to punch Cizko straight in the face, knocking him unconscious.

"You look pale, Comet." Kara smirked, taking out her anti-telepathy device from behind her ear. "The hair comes in handy sometimes."

This time Revan breathed in relief. "I'm impressed, Girl of Steel."

"I had a great teacher, Shooting Star." Kara smiled.

"Nice." Revan smiled. "Let's get this guy somewhere safe. And hope we don't have anymore people that mess with our heads."

"Rau yes." Kara groaned.
