The Shooting Star

Sunday Blues

Revan opened his eyes, yawning as he turned his head around, away from the sting of the sunlight on his eyes. As his vision settled, he saw Kara's gorgeous face inches away from his, asleep and looking adorable as ever, messy as she appeared. He smiled as he tucked some of her loose hair back. He knows this, but he keeps reminding himself every day he wakes up next to her, that he was luckier than he could ever imagine to have found the incredible Kryptonian woman that was Kara Danvers.

About a year ago, he was a hair length away from losing all mental stability, broken and despairing in the wake of the loss of his world and his family. But Kara had been the star that guided him back to happiness, and while he regrets not being able to save his world, he doesn't regret being stranded here for a second.

As Revan lay there and pondered, Kara began to stir, bringing Revan out of his thoughts.

"Morning, Girl of Steel." He said as he planted a kiss on Kara's forehead, to which Kara hummed and purred in satisfaction.

"Morning, Rev." she smiled as she barely opened her eyes, before closing them again, snuggling up to Revan. "Tell me it's Sunday today."

"It's Friday." Revan said.

"Wait what?" Kara said, shocked.

"I'm kidding it's Sunday." Revan said, chuckling.

Kara punched Revan playfully. "Idiot."

"Says the girl that can't even keep track of Sundays." Revan said, now laughing in full.

Kara stuck her tongue out at Revan, who just pulled her in close and sighed with contentment.

"So, what do we do today?" Revan asked.

"Huh, I actually have no idea." Kara said. "We do have to check in at the DEO, but, no CatCo today. You wanna go someplace?"

"Yeah we could. But for now, how about we just stay here?" Revan said.

"That's a greeeaaaat idea." Kara said, smiling as she went in to kiss Revan on the lips.

Of course, their little morning alone time was short lived, as both their communicators went off. Kara groaned as she picked up hers and answered the call. "It's a Sunday morning!"

"Your masked buddy has just sent out a challenge for y'all. You wanna miss it?" Winn's voice came over comms.

"Uhhh no." Kara replied weakly. "Uhh why'd he have to pick today?"

Revan chuckled as he put his hand on Kara's, pulling the communicator near him. "We're on our way, Winn. As unhappy as we are about it." He sighed.

"Sorry man." Winn said as the connection cut off.

"Uhh why can't these villains just make an appointment?" Kara groaned.

"Because, my dear Kara Danvers, there'd be too many and everyone would stay in line. I know we'd never keep up with our appointments." Revan chuckled again.

"Yeah yeah come here." Kara said, smiling as she pulled Revan into another kiss.

There was a gust of wind as Kara and Revan arrived at the DEO.

"What's the sitch?" Revan asked.

"A text message just popped up. On twitter, no less." Winn replied from his chair.

"Well that's original. What's it say?" Kara asked.

"See for yourself." Winn said, pulling up the post on screen.

"Girl of Steel… You're going to want in on this. Meet me in the stadium." Kara read out. "How do we know it's our masked friend?"

"We don't." J'onn said, now coming up to them, making them turn. "I told Mr. Schott to say it so you came." He added.

"Oh J'onn you're lucky I can't just punch you." Kara groaned, huffing.

"Pretty underhanded there, J'onn." Revan said, smirking. "Well now that we are here, best check it out."

"Right." Kara said, and the two were off.

The stadium wasn't very far from the HQ, and in a matter of seconds, they were there, blowing up wind and bit of grass.

"Super vision." Revan ordered in his vibrating voice.

"Already on it." Kara said, scanning the stadium. "There." She said, looking at one of the entrances into the field, from where a lone figure was walking up to them.

"Is there anything else around here? Anything that may be a threat?" Revan asked Kara, whispering. Kara shook her head in response.

The figure, clad in a black suit with no markings or anything visible of any kind, meanwhile approached the two heroes, before speaking through a voice modulator.

"You'll find a warehouse producing artificial Kryptonite at this location. That's all I can give you for now." The person said, offering a piece of paper.

"Um… thank you?" Kara said, confused as she warily took the paper.

"Who are you, and why are helping us?" Revan asked, keeping a neutral tone.

"A potential ally. I can't say much more just yet." The figure said. Then, they dropped a smoke bomb, Revan attempted to clear it away with wind, but the smoke was heavier.

"It's lead smoke." Kara said. "I can't see through it."

Revan ran out and searched the entire stadium, but to no avail. Their unknown ally was gone.

.

.

"I get that they used lead smoke to be obscured from us, but how the hell did they get away faster than I could clear the stadium." Revan asked himself aloud back at DEO HQ. "What does that paper say?" he asked Kara.

"It's coordinates." Kara said, reading. "Winn, mind plugging these in and seeing where this is?" she asked, handing Winn the paper.

"Absolutely not." Winn replied, taking it and typing away at his keyboard. Shortly after, a map appeared on the screen, with a location getting pinged.

"Abandoned warehouse, near the waterfront." Winn said, zooming into the location and pulling up info.

"If they're producing artificial Kryptonite in there, we need to shut it down. Let's go then." Kara said.

"Whoa, hold on. You're not going inside a warehouse full of Kryptonite that I can't absorb." Revan said.

"Well I'm not staying here and letting you go alone!" Kara near yelled.

"I didn't say that. Wait outside until I destroy it all. Please?" He added that last part in Kryptonian.

"Fine. But you better be careful, and hurry so I can get in there!" Kara said, surrendering.

"Which is it you want? You want me to hurry? You want me to be careful?" Revan joked.

"Rev…" Kara began.

"I get it. Let's go." With that, Revan ran into Kara and promptly picked her up and carried her away.

"You know, I'll never get tired of watching him run." Winn said. "See those afterimages he leaves? So cool."

.

.

.

Revan slowly entered the warehouse, trying to adopt a stealthy approach so as not to let any artificial Kryptonite get away. Kara stood, or floated watch outside, watching with super vision, looking both inside and outside, feeding Revan a layout of the warehouse. She watched as he deftly navigated through the rafters of the moderately big warehouse, maneuvering skilfully to remain out of sight while taking in the full scope. He took note of the guards, their weapons, any tells they might have. Then he sprung into action. It was quicker than a wink, with his speed, although it would have been over quickly without it too. Soon, all the guards were unconscious and he wasted no more than two more seconds, destroying all the artificial Kryptonite.

Revan breathed a sigh as he signalled Kara to come in, knowing she was watching. Kara came in to see Revan bent over a book of some sort, the guards already tied up, still out of it.

"What you got there?" she asked, walking over.

"A ledger, I suppose, of sorts. It has records of how much they stored in here." Revan answered, before quickly closing it and taking it. "I'll need to take a closer look at this. Then I might be able to figure out their production rates, or at least make an educated guess."

"Alright, what about them?" Kara said, pointing at the guards.

"Oh they're going to the DEO. We can get more info about the details of this Artificial Kryptonite." Revan replied. "Pickup's almost here for them."

"Cool. So what now?" Kara asked.

"Well, I'll go get whatever info I can from the goons. Then… maybe we can go grab a bite to eat?" Revan asked.

"Sounds great." Kara said, before floating to Revan, lowering his face mask, and kissed him. Revan responded quickly, snaking his arms around her waist and pulling her close, as hers went around his neck. All too soon, Revan pulled back, getting a small whine from Kara.

"I'm sorry, but work calls. I'll finish up as soon as I can, I promise, in the meantime you can come with me to DEO, or…" Revan thought of something, but before he could say anything, Kara interrupted.

"Nope, coming to DEO. We have no work today, anyway." She quickly said.

"Okay then, Girl of Steel." Revan said, running off, followed by Kara.

.

.

.

.

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing about the production methods." Winn said, throwing his hands in the air as he whirled around his chair at his desk.

"It's alright, we did get a general idea of the production rates." Revan said, patting Winn on the back.

"What did you find, Mr. Snow?" J'onn asked.

"Apparently, the production is indeed slow, but not very expensive. Just takes the money to buy basic quartzite crystals. It's weird. How would something so intricately designed be cheap in any capacity. And if it is cheap, why is it slow to make?" Revan spoke as he walked around the table, before coming to a stop. "If this artificial Kryptonite is handmade by someone, it would explain both the low price and the slow production, but that would also mean that we're looking at some kind of a genius with technology. This is a hypothesis, sure, but my most likely hypothesis." Revan shrugged as he finished.

"Then there's the matter of our unknown ally. Who is he and why did he help?" J'onn spoke now.

"We'll have to wait and see, and stay on the lookout for new leads. Whoever the masked guy was, he was very prepared." Revan said.

"Agreed." J'onn said, before walking away.

Kara walked up to Revan, seeing him deep in thought. "Hey, you okay?" she spoke. "Penny for your thoughts?"

"That guy at the stadium. There was something… familiar about him. Like I'd seen him before." Revan replied.

"Did you know anyone like that from your world?" Kara asked.

"Plenty. But here, I don't know." Revan said, looking at Kara. "But let's talk about it another time." He quickly lightened up. "You want to, maybe leave?" he asked, smiling.

"Yes, I do. I'm hungry." Kara replied, grinning again.

"After you, Girl of Steel." Revan stepped back and bowed, gesturing to Kara.

"Don't mind if I do, Shooting Star." Kara said, bowing herself, before zooming off, Revan running after her.

"Ice cream makes everything better, doesn't it?" Revan said, having just had two Chocolate Sundaes.

"Yeah, there's a reason I stock up on it by the tub!" Kara said, finishing up her ice cream as well.

Revan paid for their food and ice cream and the two left. It was already dark, and the wind was cool. The two heroes walked at normal speed towards their apartment, fingers intertwined. Kara tilted her head to nudge Revan in the shoulder, making him look at her. He was met with her absolutely blinding, radiant smile, the same one that made him see TV static out his eyes.

Of course, as always, he was quick to regain composure, giving her his sober but genuinely fulfilling smile. Kara could swear no one else could make a smile as simple yet as beautiful, with as little effort, as Revan could.

Soon they reached their place, entering the apartment, and plopping down on the couch. They cuddled up together, and Kara grabbed the TV remote.

"What's showing?" Revan asked.

"Nothing good." Kara answered as she kept switching channels in search of something good to watch. "Screw it." Kara said, shutting off the TV, them promptly grabbing Revan's face and smashing their lips together.

Revan was almost taken aback, almost, but he started kissing her back immediately, hands snaking around her waist, pulling her close, as hers went around his neck.

"Someone's frisky right now." Revan teased between kisses as he could feel Kara's hands remove themselves from his shoulders and go all over him.

"Shut up." Kara gasped out, then pulled Revan's shirt off of him.

Revan chuckled breathily, before flipping them on the couch, now being on top. He trailed kisses across her cheek, her neck, and his hands went under her shirt to feel her smooth, warm skin, before pulling off her shirt.

Kara smirked, as if to say 'Fair enough' before resuming their… 'activities', when suddenly, both their phones rang out with the emergency tone.

"Wuh…" Kara managed, before Revan quickly picked up his phone and answered.

"What's the emergency?" Revan said, getting his breathing under control.

"There's an attack at the park, multiple hostages, looks like our masked friend." Winn's voice came through.

"We're on our way." Revan said as he hung up, letting out a sigh. "God I hate villains at times like this."

"We'll pick this up some other time." Kara said, speeding into her suit.

Revan responded in kind, in his suit in a blink. "I love you." He said, planting a kiss on her lips.

"I love you too." Kara smiled. "Now let's go." She added. Revan nodded and the two went off through the window.

.

.

.

The park was sealed off by the police perimeter when the two heroes got there.

"Officer. What's the situation?" Kara asked one of the police officers.

"We've sealed off the park, but at the centre, there's a group of gunmen holding about 4 hostages." The officer answered.

"Supergirl!" Revan called out. "X-ray vision."

"Four hostages, six men with guns, and our lead lined masked friend." Kara told Revan.

"Got it. Let me check…" Revan trailed off, focusing. "There don't seem to be any meta-dampening signals. Alright, we go in, disarm and disable the perps and get the hostages to safety first." He told Kara.

"Okay let's go." Kara agreed, and the two sprung into action. Revan sped around, taking the millisecond's worth it took to completely disassemble the guns, Kara coming in behind him to punch the gunmen unconscious. Within the wink of an eye, all the perps, except the masked man, were down. Revan was already freeing the hostages, when he noticed something. The third guy he was freeing had no restraints. He went to check, when he found that the third hostage was wearing a concealed bracelet of some sort, and suddenly, he felt his powers go.

"What?" he turned to see Kara kneeling, as the fourth hostage revealed a crystalline ring glowing green. He suddenly felt a painful cramp on his leg, as the first hostage shot a meta-dampening anklet at his leg, fitted with grappling cables that shot straight to the ground.

"Fell for my gag, heroes. Again." The masked guy spoke through his voice modulator. "There were no hostages. These people are my accomplices, I'm afraid. See that bracelet, Comet?" he said, pointing to the man beside him. "That bracelet has anti-meta capabilities. I made it similar to my artificial Kryptonite. It's very short range, so you wouldn't know about it till you came close enough, which, once you did, you'd already be in my trap." He laughed slightly.

Revan cursed himself. If he'd been more apprehensive, he could have foreseen at least some of this.

"Turn that Kryptonite off, damn it. Put the collar on. We don't want to hurt them just yet." The man ordered, and the hostage beside Kara produced a small collar and out it on Kara's neck, then deactivated the Kryptonite. Kara sighed as the pain went away, but she still didn't have her powers.

"That collar emits red solar radiation. You're still powerless, I'm afraid." The villain said. Kara looked defiantly at him, almost able to see him smirking. "Well, let's get going. We don't want to dilly dally, do we?" the man instantly brought out his little remote and pressed a button, teleporting himself, his allies and the two heroes.

Revan was surprised at his capability to teleport such a large number. For a second, he considered if the masked man was a magic user, but nothing about him spoke magic, so he kept that theory at the back of his head, and looked around. They were in an abandoned warehouse. Possibly their base of operations, or simply someplace temporary for them to deal with their current task. Revan knew he had to think fast, before these men got around to doing whatever they were planning to do with them.

"Comet?" Revan turned to see Kara looking at him. "Are you alright?"

"Yeah." Revan answered, getting a small smile from Kara.

"Touching, but I'm afraid I have plans for the both of you. Lock them up, boys." The masked man said before going to leave. Suddenly, there was a loud explosion, and the gate to the warehouse was blown open.

"What… cover those two. Comet is very handy with gadgets." The man ordered two of his accomplices. The rest scattered out to find whatever caused the explosion. Suddenly there was a blur, and one of the perps was gone, behind one of the shelves. The men went after the disturbance to find their ally unconscious on the ground.

Kara was watching with wide eyes, but Revan was calm. If this man was as professional as he appeared just now, this should be no problem. Besides, he was already about halfway done with his anklet, and would soon have his powers back, wringing his rake back and forth in the lock.

The power went out, leaving them in darkness, and then one perp's screams were heard, and another, and one by one, this unknown assailant kept tipping the numbers. The masked man had long teleported out of there, Revan observed. His gadgets still worked, and he was currently using his goggles' nightvision. Another click and he was through, ripping the anklet off. He stood up, only to see the last guy get pulled upward into the shadows, and the lights came back on. Revan quickly went and undid Kara's collar, disassembling it and throwing it away.

"Are you okay?" Revan asked, a hand on Kara's cheek. Kara nodded with a smile, before the two looked at the man that had just appeared in the mess of unconscious men lying there.

"You've dulled." A voice modulator rung out.

"Is that you from the stadium?" Kara asked.

Revan however, was frozen. The suit that their unknown ally wore was… all too familiar. A black long coat, covered in tactical gear, a black helmet with a visor and a hood…

"Wait." He barely spoke, gripping her hand for a second before advancing towards this person.

"338" Revan said, apprehension in his voice.

"Christiansen." The man in black answered.

Revan gasped. "Vigil?"

"Hey, Comet." 'Vigil' spoke.

Kara saw as Revan slowly went and hugged this guy, and he hugged him back.

"I thought you were dead. I thought everyone was dead!" Revan's voice nearly broke.

"Me too. I'm so glad to see you, Revan." Kara noticed the man had his voice modulator turned off, and the fact that he knew Revan's name.

"Comet?" Kara asked.

"Oh, sorry." Revan cleared his throat as he went to introduce the two in front of him. It's okay, he knows me and I, him."

"You do?" Kara asked.

"Yeah. He's a very good friend. We can trust him." Revan said. Vigil pressed a button on his neck, and the helmet retracted, and he pulled the hood off, revealing short brown hair, with white hair along the middle, and a rough face with a scar along his cheek. "This is Jason Todd. He's from my Earth. He goes by Vigil."

X-X-X-X-X

So, we have our very second survivor from Rev's Earth! Some things are about to be clarified about Revan's old Earth, and our masked villain is about to make more chaos! I actually have ideas!

I'm sorry I didn't update for so long. As I said on my other story, Something Greater, at that time, the DC CWverse was heavily disappointing me, becoming cringe as heck and just sucking to be honest. I'd lost inspiration. Now, though, I'm thinking I'll get some of it back. Armageddon was really good though. That was one of the reasons I'm getting back to it, I think.

Please please review and let me know your thoughts. I need them now especially. No self promotion though. I'll do it after I upload a couple more chapters, which I already have planned. I'll see y'all in the next chapter! Peace!
