Author's note: so I wrote this in one sitting after not writing anything in six months, also this is my first fanfiction so it probably sucks. Constructive criticism is welcomed!

Tony prided himself on his ability to never get bored. He was always able to entertain himself with something. He would download a game on his computer, sneak a magazine into his desk, visit Abby, or tease McGoo and Ziva. But even he had his limits. And those limits were three straight days of cold case files. Even Gibbs was losing it at this point, having just left on his hundredth coffee run of the day.

He looked around at his teammates. Ziva was actually doing the work set before her, but even she was getting frustrated. Teasing her now would probably end his life, which left Probie to amuse him.

Smirking he turned to Tim, who was frowning at the papers on his desk in intense concentration.

"What'cha up to McGenius?"

McGee flinched and looked up guiltily, "Uh nothing."

Tony raised his eyebrows, now this was interesting. What was Probie hiding?

"Really McGoo? Nothing at all?"

Tim shook his head, "Nope, just working on the, you know...files."

Tony grinned, he was definitely hiding something. He casually got up and walked over to McGee's desk. Peering over the probie's shoulder he caught a glimpse off...

"Is that a drawing of you as an elf?" He asked incredulously, this was too good. McFantasy was never going to live this down.

"It is not!" McGee protested, shoving the drawing out of sight, "It's just a drawing of a character from this game I play."

"A character who looks just like you but with pointy ears"

"No he doesn't!"

"What game is this character from McGee?" Ziva asked, coming over to look at the drawing.

McGee sighed, "Dungeons and Dragons."

Tony lasted about five seconds before bursting into laughter, "You play dungeons and dragons? That's a whole 'nother level of nerd McGeek."

Ziva frowned, "What is dungeons and dragons?"

"Allow me to explain Ziva," Tony said placing a hand on her shoulder, "Dungeons and Dragons is where a bunch of nerds who probably live in their Mom's basement, dress up as elves and wizards and pretend to fight monsters. It's incredibly stupid and no man with an ounce of self respect would ever agree to it."

"That's not what DnD is Tony," McGee groaned.

"Well you have to admit it's a pretty good summary."

McGee sighed and turned to Ziva, "Dungeons and Dragons is a roleplaying game, you create a character and pretend to be them for the game. The dungeon master takes you through a campaign and..."

"and you pretend to fight dragons." Tony finished.

McGee glared at him, "That's not all you do, but yes, you fight dragons."

"I have lost any respect I ever had for you Probie," Tony said as he sat back down at his desk and covered his face with a magazine...maybe he'd take a nap.

McGee turned to look at him, "You know DnD is actually a very complex game Tony."

"Sure it is McGoo."

"It is, it takes team work and strategy to actually complete a campaign, not to mention patience. I like doing it cause it helps my writing skills."

"How does a game help your writing?" Ziva asked, genuinely curious.

"Well when you play the game you are your character. You have to decide how your character thinks and reacts to any given situation. It's like you're writing a book and acting it out at the same time."

"Booooorrrrriiiiiinnnnggggg"

"Shut up Tony"

"Dungeons and Dragons actually sounds fun, I would like to try it sometime" Ziva said.

Tony almost fell out of his chair, "It what?"

"Thank you Ziva," McGee relied smugly.

Tony gaped at both of them in disbelief, "You want to play DnD?"

Ziva looked up at him, "Why not? It sounds fun."

"Me, Abby, and Palmer were going to try to start a campaign soon if you wanted to join us." Tim said.

"I think I will."

Tony sat there in stunned silence. What the heck just happened?

"What's wrong Tony? Rat got your tongue?"

"Cat Ziva, Cat."

She shrugged.

At that moment Gibbs came into the bullpen, "Grab your gear. Got a dead petty officer in Jamestown."

Tony couldn't stop the smile that spread across his face. Finally.

"Coming DiNozzo?"

"Yes boss," he said grabbing his bag and rushing to the elevator, grateful that the nerd discussion was over at last.

"Will you just let it go Tony?" McGee asked him two hours later as they walked down to Abby's lab, "It's not that big a deal."

"Ziva David, Mossad assassin, fearless ninja, agreed to play dungeons and dragons"

"So what?"

"So what?! I'm in an alternate universe McGoop that's so what! I feel like Marty McFly in back to the future. You know that scene when he comes back and his brother has a job and his father is a business man?"

"I get it Tony"

"What'cha guys talking about?" Abby asked.

"Oh nothing Abs just reality as we know it collapsing." Tony said dramatically, handing her a Caf-Pow, "Got anything?"

"Well the bullets used to kill Petty Officer Davis definitely came from a hunting rifle of some kind. Major mas spec is still processing whatever was in his lungs. Why is reality collapsing?"

"Ziva agreed to play Dungeons and Dragons with us this weekend and Tony's freaking out," Tim replied rolling his eyes, "For some reason he can't accept that you don't have to be a nerd to like DnD."

"Playing DnD automatically makes you a nerd Probie, I don't make the rules," Tony said, "And since all of you are playing that means I'm outnumbered! Just me and Gibbs standing alone against the forces of nerdom. Next thing you know half the office will be speaking in Klingon."

"You know you're welcome to join us Tony," Abby replied smiling at him, "It could be fun."

"I'm good Abs"

"Come on please? Everyone's gonna be there, it'll be family bonding."

"I don't know Abby..."

"Please?" She stared at him with her stupid puppy face. Not even Gibbs could resist it.

"Fine."

"Yes!"

"But only one game, then I'm done."

She squealed and hugged him, "Oh I'm so excited, this is gonna be great!"

"You know what else would be great Abs is if you could find out who murdered Davis," Gibbs said walking into the room, "DiNozzo, McGee, wife's in the conference room, talk to her."

"On it boss."

As soon as they left McGee turned to him, "So I guess that means you're a nerd now."

"Shut up, Probie."
