FOREWORD

Ah, Resident Evil: Village, the latest instalment in the franchise. Ever since Resident Evil 7, it feels like the series is maturing, getting a surprising amount of depth and regaining the atmosphere it was lacking in recent instalments. I was struck by the variety of interesting characters, and that there was a sense of history to this village that was lacking in the suspiciously similar settings of Resident Evil 4, which Village seemed to emulate.

As followers of my compilation the Cauldron will know, I've been trying to get a crossover with Resident Evil: Village off the ground for some time. I had a number of potential storylines to try out, but eventually, I decided to exploit that old chestnut, the reincarnation trope. Only, I could do it within the lore of the game.

As for pairings, I wanted to have it with one or more of the Dimitrescu daughters. My original thought was Bela, and my various attempts at stories reflected this. But I changed my mind to Daniela on reflection for a number of reasons. Firstly, Bela has been overdone as a pairing in Resident Evil fanfics. Secondly, I went back and listened to Daniela's voice lines in the game, and I found her more endearing than Bela or Cassandra. Thirdly, Daniela is played by Nicole Tompkins, who also played my favourite protagonist of the series, Jill Valentine, in the remake of the third game, and her Let's Play of Resident Evil: Village is actually quite entertaining, especially as other actors from the game are brought in for commentary.

This story, like many, had a troubled genesis. But I hope it was worth it.

Anyway, time for the usual disclaimers. Firstly, there will be spoilers for both Resident Evil, and the Potterverse.

Secondly, there will be annotations, heavy annotations, and bellyachers will be treated with all due contempt.

Thirdly, for language, violence, horror and sexual references, this is an M-rated work.

Finally, the following is a fan-written work. Harry Potter and Resident Evil are the properties of their respective owners. Please support the official release. Otherwise, the Dimitrescu daughters will eat you alive…
