2538 UNSC Standard time
Unknown section of Milky Way Galaxy
The UNSC ship sent to help evacuate the planet Endymion from the covenant was floating lifelessly in space.
Aboard UNSC Marathon cruiser Arcturus
S-009 felt like his whole body was on fire. And his head pounded like he was hit in the head with a Gravity hammer. But otherwise fine.
He opened his eyes. And saw a once bustling cruiser was deserted. "Something's not right."
"Need to determine the status of the ship" he said while getting up, which was easier said then done when your whole body aches. But he made it to his feet and slowly made his way through the Halls of the ship.
A body laid on the ground in front of him. "Let's see if she's alive". He went over to check a pulse on her.
It was a blonde woman who looked to be in her early forties. A marine by the look of her uniform. He put his finger to her neck. No pulse. A quick look at her dog tags said her name was Sarah. Not much he could do.
William opens the bulkheads separating the section of the ship he was in. immediately all the air escaped into the section and out through the ship. He held on tight and looked further down the corridor. The dark grey metal walls of the ship giving an eerie feeling, especially since the lights were out. Thankfully he could see just fine due to his augmentations.
The hallways to the bridge weren't any less spooky. With the only other thing being the vibration of his feet hitting the hard metal floor beneath him.
It was a feeling that was uncommon for the Spartan to say the least. The dark metallic hallway of the ship, the lack of external oxygen, the flickering lights would make a haunted house seem nice.
He had his standard MA5B assault rifle in his hands, dual M6 Magnums strapped to his thigh plates, a combat knife strapped to his waist. The first of which was being hold almost tight enough to bend the metal. And the last thing being an energy sword he took from an elite that tried to get the drop on him to the small of his back.
The bridge was up ahead. The bulkheads were to heavy for emergency power to open. So he put his hands on the door seal and began to pull. His own strength multiplied by MJOLNIR MK IV was easily able to pull it open.
The bridge was silent. Which was to be expected. All the monitors either broken or dark. This was the first time he's seen another body since the marine. They were slumped over their monitors and consoles. Even captain Smith was slumped over the Holotable, a quick check revealed they were all also dead. "At least it was a skeleton crew."
"I'm glad at least someone survived that." Will turned to see a faint blue glow emanate for the Holotable. Where the ships AI Quasar was currently located.
"I see your here, but what happened to the rest of the crew?"
"What do you remember." The AI questioned.
"All I remember is evacuating off the planet after the covenant had overrun us. The Pelican ride, watching the planet being glassed, and entering the ship. But then it's all just black. Woke up a few minutes ago and made my way here." Will stated.
"What happened was the Slipspace drive was damaged during the evacuation when the covenant were attacking us. I told captain Smith of the risks, but he decided the risk was worth it for an attempt to save us and the ship." The AI answered. "But the Slipspace portal was unstable. It brought the us to a destination in one piece , but it killed everyone on the ship. Everyone that is but you?"
"Probably something to do with my MJOLNIR. I thought that the extra Titanium A plates and shields probably saved me."The Spartan stated.
"Why didn't you wake me up" he asked again. "I couldn't, I'm barely maintaining myself on emergency power and comms are damaged. So couldn't exactly do much could I." The AI flashed a smirk.
"Don't get cheeky with someone who can crush your data chip." This shut the AI up.
"Good now that's out of the way, where exactly are we."
"Well from what little I can do with the state of the ship I can tell were above a planet. The bad news is were going to crash into it in a few minutes." The Spartan looked at the AI in silent rage. "And you didn't tell me this earlier because!"
"You didn't ask"
He stared at the AI.
"Then no sense in wasting time. Where are we going to land, hopefully not in an ocean."
"I can't tell you where or what the terrain will be like or if the atmosphere is breathable. The portal did a number on all systems. But I would advise you hold onto something."
"Noted."
