"Dimka" I heard my mama calling. I stopped reading and turned at her.

"Yes, mama?" She was standing in front of me.

"What are you doing?" She asked me.

"Reading some treaties," I told her.

"Hmm. When you're done can you please come to meet us in the conference room?" I frowned in confusion.

"Umm sure but is there a specific reason?" I asked her. She smiled at me.

"Yes, Dimka."I smiled at her too.

As soon as finished going through the treaties I stood up to leave. When I was about to leave I heard a voice from outside. I turned and looked through the window at the rose garden.

There she is.

My guardian angel.

Practising all alone. She looked tired. Covered with sweat yet looking beautiful like an angel. Like a rose. I smiled inwardly. I also remembered something suddenly.

Her birthday. Her birthday is next week. I already know what to give her. The only thing she misses is a fearless guardian. Chuckling at my thoughts I left to meet my family.

...

"So what is this about mama?" I asked my mother looking at her face trying to find an answer. When she smiled I assumed that it was happy news.

"You know Dimka you're no longer a prince now. You are the king in Russia. So we want to talk about the only thing you're missing as a king. The only person you misses as a king." Mama told me.

"And who's that?" I asked her knowing the answer.

"Your queen idiot!" My sister Sonya answered.

Okay. I don't want one I already have one. I was happy when they brought out this. But what they told me next broke me.

"It's a rule and also a tradition that you have to marry a princess as the king of Russia."

A princess.

A princess.

A princess.

"I was never going to be a good princess or a good lady like you so I have to become someone else."

Rose's words ringed in my ear over and over.

She isn't a princess.

I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Okay, I get it, mama. But why a princess?" I asked her.

"It's the way it has always been Dimitri," Karolina answered.

"But we want your permission to do this Dimka." Mama continued.

"I'll let you know mama," I told her.

"Soon Dimka. You must have a queen. Russia needs a queen. You need one. Not having a queen is like not having a hand. You know why." She told me. I nodded.

I know why. Crown didn't go to Karolina or Paul.

It came to me. And it will not go to Paul after me. It will go to my son.

I need an heir.

"That is all Dimka. Do excuse us." I nodded. All of them left except for Eva. I looked at her. She slowly approached me and looked at my face and turned around to leave. When she reached the door without turning she spoke.

"Do what is right Dimka. Do what it feels like right not just from your heart or just from your brain. From both." And then she left. Leaving me alone.

I couldn't think right.

In one hand my Roza. Beautiful, fearless simply amazing Roza.

On the other hand Royal duties as a king.

Shit!
