"Some men like it rougher, I suppose."
Mrs Pattmore quirked an eyebrow, "Whatever do you mean?"
"I-" She hadn't realised she had spoken her thoughts aloud, let the daydreams and fairies get to her as she sipped her tea. "Never you mind."
"I'm rather intruiged now," Mrs Pattmore slams the dough onto the counter, rolling it out and in again.
Mrs Hughes sets her teacup down, licks her lips. "Our hair. We spend quite a bit of time pinning it back, making sure we're presentable..."
"And you think he thinks you look nicer with it down?"
"Yes, I, well." She's been caught, twice now. "It's more of a general thing. No one has seen my hair down in ages."
Mrs Pattmore gives an undignified snort, "Daisy, get Mrs Hughes a powder."
At the abbey, the kitchen is rather quiet. A peaceful, solemn day had risen. Blessed them in a way. Daisy was on her way to Yew Tree Farm, an outing suggested by Mrs Pattmore. The girl had just made it to the back door when she called for her.
Pausing at the door, she gives the women a look, "I didn't know you were unwell, Mrs Hughes. Let me get you one before I leave."
"No, no, you go ahead, Mrs Pattmore is just being silly." When Daisy closes the door, Elsie turns to her friend, picking up her teacup once more. "I'm quite alright-"
"I certainly hope so," A gruff voice comes from the hall. It startles her, makes her jump, causing tea to spill over and unto her dress.
Dabbing her dress, she nods. "I am."
They stand in an awkward silence.
"Mr Carson, while you're here, what do you think about ladies' hair?"
Oh gods.
"I- erm." He stutters, unprepared for such a question. "Ladies' hair?"
Mrs Pattmore rolls her eyes, "Yes, our buns and loops. As a man-" he straightens his back at this, "what's your opinion."
"Well, it's practical, I suppose."
"So, you approve?"
Mrs Hughes looks at him curiously now.
"Indeed, I do." Taking a biscuit from the tin, he walks to leave. "I find it leaves things to the imagination."
Alrighty, hallo everyone!
I'm trying to get back into writing after a while of pure writer's block. Please pardon any errors and my messy writing style.
I'll be taking prompts (don't have to be chelsie, I mainly ship them but I'm up for a challenge!), I can't promise that I'll do them all but if I'm out of ideas or feel like changing up things, I'll turn to them.
Feel free to leave reviews, they keep me motivated :)
Until next time xxx
