It was an ordinary day in real life. In the real life Earth, many people lived with a monotonous routine. I was a young woman who was lucky enough to live happier (such as having a family and having overcame a psychological trauma), but I was unhappy for being a human. I was an imaginative, smart and honest woman, but I was selfish, impulsive and stubborn at the same time. I had left high school and I would study a higher degree about animation and/or video games, as I wasn't ready to emancipate myself from my parents in order to study in a university. One day, my parents gave me a powerful computer.
"We brought you a new computer." My father informed me. "Check it out, please."
"Ok, dad. I'll go to see it." I replied.
At this time, I was watching TV along with my female dog. I went to my bedroom and I turned on the newly acquired computer. As the computer started up, I read the messages from my mobile phone and my friends were planning to play the popular game I despised. The operating system this computer had was none of the familiar ones. Instead, the operating system was a futuristic one.
"I wonder how this computer works…" I mumbled.
I tested the computer starting with a few essential things and then embellishing a few things like changing the wallpaper to something which interests me. Everything was normal except for one detail: the DVD and Blu-Ray players. I took one of the DVDs out of my bedroom, which turned out to be a Spanish copy of Pixar Short Films Collection, Volume 1. At that moment, I wanted to binge-watch The Adventures of André & Wally B., which I considered it as my favorite short film. I inserted the disc in the DVD player and I waited for the disc to run. However, the computer made strange, ominous noises and then the screen flashed strobe lights. To defend against those lights, I covered my eyes with my elbow but I started to get dizzy as soon as the lights were strong enough to give me giddiness.
After that unexpected illumination that almost blinded me, I lost consciousness. Was I still in my world? I didn't know where I was until the moment I regained my consciousness. The light of a sunrise woke me up. At the time that happened, I was snoring. How could I snore even though I passed out for a while? I didn't know about my actions. I opened my eyes and I wasn't in my home. Therefore I could see the sky. I looked at both the landscape of the place where I was and my lying body, as I felt that I was heavier than before.
First, it turns out that I was in a temperate deciduous forest. And second, I realized that I was in the body of a blue humanoid. With this body, I had a prominent, spherical black nose, wide eyes, eyelids which are slightly darker than my skin in color, thin limbs, four fingers on each hand and a teardrop-shaped torso. In other words, I was a male cartoon character who belongs to a chubby, seallike humanoid species. I was wearing a fez-like hat which is red and dark green with mysterious yellow Latin alphabet letters between these colors. I was also wearing a white T-shirt with a drawing of (possibly) a buff-tailed bumblebee, red short sweatpants, Mickey Mouse gloves, white socks with blue and red stripes and white shoes with three pairs of turquoise stripes and red laces. Additionally I was hairless, but I had eyebrows which had the same color as the eyelids.
After seeing both, I sat down and tried to vocalize if I could speak like humans, but I couldn't communicate anything other than quacking in a similar way that Donald Duck does. I felt a little itch in my waist and then I scratched this part. Suddenly, I stretched, I yawned like a duck and I eventually wobble a little while. I was still sleepy, so I noticed that I had yawned and stretched. However, I heard a buzz of a flying insect approaching where I am. This buzz not only made me stop being drowsy, but also that I was unconsciously afraid of what would happen to that insect with me. But how was it possible that I do these actions if I was not quite afraid of arthropods prior to my arrival at this forest? Had my mind melded with that of this character? Probably yes.
I stood still and watched that insect approach me. It was a bee! No, it wasn't a realistic one, but a cartoonish bee. It was also not a small honeybee, but it was a rat-sized bumblebee with four detachable droplet-like feet. This bumblebee appeared to be a worker due to the fact that it had an exaggeratedly large and long stinger. According to my mental calculations, if the bee was nearly as large as my head, then I was as short as an average one-year-old boy.
Strangely, I could understand any buzzing it made. This bee said that its name was Wally B. and then the arthropod smiled in an ill-omened way. Wait a second, a male bumblebee with stinger? Weren't the worker bees and queen bees the only ones who have stinger? I thought Wally B. might be an intersex bee. Wally B.'s intention was to tease me. I smiled shyly as I quacked so I requested him not to hurt me. Despite my objections, he touched my nose with one of his four legs and my nose tottered so it was quick enough to make my head wobble. The limbless bee laughed at me and he called me "André." Was André the name of the humanoid boy? On the other hand, he mustn't be kidding me so it was possible that Wally B. already knows who André was.
If I weren't stuck on André's body, I would do something to consolidate the relationship with Wally B. such as giving him honey. However, my mindset being fused with that of André's did something very different. I distracted Wally B. by pointing to another place and I ran away. I was supposed to get tired soon, but despite André's pudginess, I was agile enough to flee. Conversely, Wally B. noticed the distraction and he chased me. I ran while I was unconsciously laughing at the bumblebee. Why did I do that against my actions on the part of my own mindset? I shouldn't have been rude to Wally B., but I couldn't control my behavior on the André side. There came a time when I stopped running, where I rested for a while near a lake. As this moment, Wally B. was nowhere to be seen. I took advantage of the absence to hydrate after the hike. Looking at the reflection a face of a male humanoid came out. It was true, as I was in the body of André. Aside of the aforementioned features I described such as the clownlike nose and wide eyes, I could see my eyes were blue like the sea. I wiped my face and drank the water, potable or not, because I was thirsty. After the necessities and rest from running so much, I needed to take time off. I would like to draw something or play a video game at that moment, but I hadn't brought any of the things that I would need for it so I took a nap instead.
After half an hour, Wally B. reappeared covered in pollen. I was afraid that this big bumblebee was coming back just to annoy me. I held my breath so I could play possum. He touched my pear-shaped torso with one of his floating limbs and then he moved one of my thin limbs with another of them. Wally B. left me for dead and was about to leave the area. Then the André part of my mindset occurred to me to play a practical joke on him, so I woke up quickly and I scared him, which eventually led the bee to being given a heart attack. As a consequence, I felt guilty of the heart attack and I went to look for a place to take refuge with the still body of Wally B. I came to a village, went into an abandoned restaurant and stayed with him in the kitchen room. I did artificial respiration in a manner similar to what firefighters did with puppies in a pet shop. At a certain point, he regained consciousness. He buzzed and literally got on all fours. He was very angry with me and I thought that he was going to sting me, but the latter one didn't happen.
Wally B. asked me if I was mad, due to the fact that he started to question about André's behavior. I started to fidget when I tried to think what words I would say under a few simple quacks. I confessed to Wally B. that I used to be an 18-year-old human girl from another world, but I ended turned into André when I was accidentally sent to the forest where André and Wally B. live. There was a silence of five seconds and then the plump bumblebee broke into laughter, believing that I was taking it as a joke. I clarified that I took the situation seriously. He stopped laughing and he flied straight to the closed door. Then he requested me to open the door when he tried to do so with slaps. I went to the door and tried to open it with the doorknob, but I was having difficulties because someone has caught it on the other side of the door until I successfully opened it. Leaving the kitchen, it turned out that we had arrived at an office in a jiffy. By the time we got there, there were a purple monster with two bovine horns who was presenting the door that we had entered, a blue-fur and purple spotted monster who served as the CEO of this office and a green cyclops-like monster that is next to the blue one. The latter two are very familiar to me.
"Tada! Well, it seems that my project works, Mr. Sullivan." The purple monster interjected.
"It seems that it can open up new possibilities to extract laughter." The blue one opined, and then he asked to his business partner. "Mike, what do you think of Tylor Tuskmon's proposal?"
"It seems that it is OK, Sulley." Mike opined, but then he pointed both Wally B. and me. "But, what are a big bumblebee and a doohickey doing here?"
I smiled timidly while I was quacking. Similarly, my bee companion greeted the monsters with one of his legs. At the same time we were limited to greet them, I already remembered the names of the two protagonists of... What is the animated film's name? Wait a second, Monsters, Inc.
Sulley looked at me with his expressive eyes. Surely he would treat me as he did to a girl named Boo, as André was shorter that Boo, so I (who was stuck on André's body) would be raised temporally by Sulley and Mike Wazowski. I took a breath and I tried to communicate to them with quacks if any of the monsters understood me.
"Sorry, little guy. But we don't understand you." Tylor Tuskmon stated.
"Don't you have any alternative to communicate better?" Mike said to me.
Suddenly, I had an idea when I saw a small, portable whiteboard on Sulley's desk so I grabbed it and a blue marker pen. I wrote something on the whiteboard and I showed the monsters the written whiteboard, which says "We came from another universe where blue humanoids exist instead of humans and there are limbless insects such as this one who is next to me."
"What are your names?" Sulley asked.
I removed the text from the whiteboard and I rewrote it so I showed them the whiteboard. The text on the whiteboard said "This bee is Wally B. And I am an 18-year-old human girl who is stuck on the body of one of the blue humanoids, specifically André."
"So, will we call you André for now, right?" Tylor asked me.
I nodded my head in assent. Then I asked them with a text written in the whiteboard that says "Are there more doors that can be visited to other parallel worlds other than the human world of this universe?" as I was curious if Tylor had produced more doors of that type.
"Sadly, no" Tylor denied it.
After they kept the secret about our unexpected appearance, Sulley and Mike took us to their home and I spent the night there. While I felt comfortable in any home, André himself would feel it like if he were in captivity. This could have happened if I did not have my mind merged with André's. Before I fell asleep fully, Wally B. told me that I would have to get accustomed to my new life as André.
The following day, I woke up very late, as opposed to Wally B., who woke up earlier along with Mike and Sulley. I looked in the mirror and I began to like my new body.
"Tuck in!" A voice that came from Mike interrupted the moment when I saw my reflection.
We had our respective breakfast and we got ready to leave home. Being in the body of André, this gave me a strong and confident attitude, compared to being a human. However, despite my optimism, Mike didn't open the door at all due to the fact that he had an unambiguous reason not to do it.
"André, I think it would be better if you stayed home." Mike advised me. "Every monster from Monstropolis may find out about your presence."
At this moment I wanted to leave home so I could travel to other places. I thought about what I should do to be able to leave home until I had an idea. I took the backpack, the marker pen and the whiteboard, I wrote "How about we grab Sulley's hair so we can be unnoticed?" and I showed them the written whiteboard. There was silence at a given time.
"Ok, we will try it." Sulley replied to me. Then, he commented to his partner. "It looks that André's idea is not a bad one."
Wally B. and I hid in Sulley's back as we took advantage of his height. We were able to arrive at Monsters, Inc without problems and, once there were no more monsters in an area full of doors, we stopped grabbing Sulley's hair and we could walk quietly.
"You can do what you want, as the coast is clear." Sulley said to us.
"But be careful with the four newly manufactured doors, as you mustn't let anyone escape from their worlds." Mike warned us.
The monsters left us alone; we wandered the zone as we saw the doors and I quacked to Wally B. by asking a silly question of how Wally B. would describe André from his point of view. He buzzed by answering me under comments about André's body, including his weight. This comment in the middle of the description from the bumblebee's point of view made my cheeks blush due to the fact that I am sensitive to my weight in the part of my own mindset. I would not have reacted like this if I, being in the body of André, had the mind dominated by André himself. One part of this description caught my attention is that he could perceive all colors except red. I quacked by asking him if Wally B.'s statement was true, and then he buzzed by answering me that he couldn't perceive the red part of the hat nor the red sweatpants correctly.
After the conversation, I approached a door, I opened it and we entered to a different world, specifically a bike shop. At the time we arrived in the bike shop, it was raining there. There were a lot of bicycles and one red unicycle. The unicycle was, like the bicycles, a pedal-powered vehicle. As this type of vehicle's name suggests, the unicycle only had one wheel. The bike shop's walls had grey wood in it and had an oversized window which contained neon words forming "Eben's Bikes." I was struck by the fact that there was a yellow clock with André on it, which was next to a paper with the word "Sale" written in red. I approached the clock and tried to grab it by jumping that barely reached 0.3 meters in height. Wally B. buzzed by asking me what I was doing at the moment, which I quacked as I replied to him that I wanted to take the clock as a souvenir. My bee companion reminded me not to let anything escape from their respective worlds, even if I treat an object as a keepsake. While we were talking as I tried to reach the clock with my four-fingered hands, the unicycle, which is actually sentient, began to sleepwalk. The bee soon became aware of how sentient the unicycle was and then he warned me not to make noise because there is a living object that is dreaming. By the time the unicycle began using its pedals to juggle imaginarily, I had still been jumping as I attempted to grab the clock.
In the last jump, I clumsily stepped back and I let it produce a domino effect: the bicycles fell to the ground. This eventually awakened the unicycle, which ended up discovering our presence. Wally B. sarcastically applauded me for unintentionally waking it up. The unicycle began to communicate under high-pitched noises. Both Wally B. and I could understand the unicycle's noises, so it was possible that we could understand any living objects if these couldn't talk like humans. The unicycle asked us what we were doing. We introduced ourselves and then I asked the unicycle what its name was. The unicycle stated that its name was Red and Red said that Red is male. After that, we asked him why he loves juggling. Red replied us that he loves juggling because he wants to be a circus juggler. Red described himself as an idealistic, gifted unicycle. We replied that we were nice to meet him and then we left the shop without the clock in my hands.
Shortly after arriving at Monsters, Inc in a matter of seconds, we closed the door that takes us to the Red's Dream universe. Another lost memory already recovered, at that time I already remembered two short films and a feature film from an American animation studio whose name I didn't remember yet. I quacked by asking Wally B. if there is a door that lead us to another world so I could recall the film studio's name. The male bumblebee interpreted my message as a request and went looking for it as I followed him. Wally B. found a wooden door and he buzzed me that it may have something which has the studio's name in it. I opened the door and I walked gingerly. However, with Wally B. producing noises when he is flying, another living object caught us in the act. This time it was a toy that resembled a one-man band. The tin one-man band was taller than Wally B., but shorter than André. Like André, he was bald and had a red hat. The tin toy had a resemblance to a child and he was a shy toy. I quacked by asking him what is his name, which the tin toy answered me, under noises, that his name was Tinny. Before Tinny could say about us, I quacked by explaining that we visited his house just to consult something in order to regain my memories. Tinny asked us if I was going to pick a bag or any of the non-sentient toys for young human children. I chose to take the bag, I looked at it and I spotted the old logo of the studio, causing me to remember its name: Pixar. Then I proposed them that they ask me some questions in order to check my memories. Tinny asked me what is its first feature film's name and I tried to remember everything I could but I failed to do so. Wally B. asked me who directed the first short film. I replied to him, under quacks, that Alvy Ray Smith was the director of The Adventures of André & Wally B., much to Wally B. and Tinny's surprise.
I realized that remembering the studio's name doesn't mean fully recovering from the amnesia. However, I hadn't forgotten the employees who worked for Pixar since my arrival to the André & Wally B. universe. All of a sudden, we heard a noise of a baby so we had to express gratitude to Tinny for help me to remember again the film studio's name and we returned to Monsters, Inc quickly. There are two doors left to visit. The one was a door adorned with stickers and the other one is another wooden door. I wanted to open the former one, whereas Wally B. wanted to open the latter one. In order to have consensus, we played rock, paper and scissors. I chose scissors and Wally B. may have chosen rock or paper because Wally B. had neither fingers nor toes. I asked him if he chose rock or paper as I saw his teardrop-shaped leg near to my hand with two of my fingers opened. He buzzed me by telling me that he chose paper. This results me to have won this game.
We opened the door adorned with stickers and we arrived in another room full of living objects. These living objects were from knick-knacks, with the exception to a sentient snowman, which belonged to a snow globe. The snowman wore a black hat and a green scarf, as well as the snowman had a carrot which serves as his nose. In other words, this snowman resembled mostly to Frosty. The snowman was taller than Tinny but was shorter than André. At this moment, the snowman wanted to join the other knick-knacks' party due to the fact that he had a crush on a blonde woman on blue bikini who belongs to a Miami-themed knick-knack. Wally B. wondered how the snowman broke out from the snow globe, but we saw that the snowman would recklessly attempt to flee it by using TNT. We approached it and we didn't let him hurt himself with these explosives. We rotated the snow globe and, while we did so, we indicated to him that there is an exit door. The snowman quickly exited the snow globe and he thanked us for our actions. Before he could socialize with the blonde woman, I quacked by asking him what is his name. The snowman stated that his name is Knick and he claimed that he is Frosty's cousin. Knick was curious enough to hang out with us for a short time, as opposed to Tinny, who is timid despite his cheerfulness. We introduced ourselves again and I admitted that I was visiting every world as I dealt with the amnesia. We said goodbye to Knick as we saw him hanging out with the other knick-knacks, especially the woman from the "Sunny Miami" knick-knack.
We briefly arrived at the office and we opened the other wooden door. Wally B. and I entered to a room that was totally dark except for two lights on. These lights came to two lamps which had a father-and-son relationship. Although I greeted them by waving my hand and I quacked as I smiled, neither of these desk lamps could understand us. The only way to communicate with these desk lamps was simply body language. The younger desk lamp was chasing a blue ball with a yellow circle which had a red star in it as the lamp hopped, while the older one was superintending the younger one. I was better able to see the desk lamps up close, as I could identify the brand that manufactured them. These desk lamps were manufactured by a Norwegian manufacturer of lamps which was founded in 1934. Therefore, I remembered the lamps' name: the older one was named Luxo Sr. whereas the younger one was named Luxo Jr. When Luxo Jr. was close to the ball, he tried jumping on it but the ball went up in the air. Wally B. moved to the left so he prevented his own stinger from deflating it. The ball eventually exited the room, which made Luxo Jr. chase it and eventually entering to Monsters, Inc, much to Luxo Sr.'s chagrin. I should have closed the door, but I must retrieve Luxo Jr. from Monstropolis. I returned to Monsters, Inc, and I ran after Luxo Jr. At the same time as I tried to catch Luxo Jr., the other employees observed us indifferently. Some of them were surprised that there was at least one non-monster creature that lived in Monstropolis, other complained that this moment was a mere disruption at work.
Wally B. returned to Monsters, Inc and he grabbed a green net with his mouth. The big bumblebee flew as he searched any place where the ball stopped moving. He found a dead end and let the net fall to the floor. The ball stopped moving when it touched the net. Luxo Jr. found the ball, stopped hopping and was about to jump on the ball. However, Wally B. rapidly trapped the ball with the net and grabbed the net with the ball in it with his front legs. Confused, Luxo Jr. tried to jump higher, but he failed to do so. I seized the moment and I successfully caught Luxo Jr. with my arms. I took the young lamp back to his world as Wally B. accompanied me.
By the time I sent Luxo Jr. back to his world, the remaining monsters who worked here discovered our presence. They were doubtful and inquisitive about us. I was more worried in this moment, in comparison to the moment when I first met Wally B. in person (although it wasn't the first time that André met him in the flesh according to the humanoid boy's point of view). It was the beginning of a new situation I must deal with.
