This was boring.

He fell into his thoughts as he paced about, walking around the perimeter of the main school building.

The examiners had started an orientation a little over an hour ago, and he hadn't heard any word from Yagi yet. Was he still in a meeting? That was what the last text he'd received had said. He supposed that they were still trying to figure out what to do with him, and then there was All Might himself.

Despite what Yagi said, a recommendation from All Might was no small deal. Not to mention, hiding All Might's declining condition. A sigh escaped him and he rubbed at his temple as he continued to think.

Well, maybe he should just call his mentor?

He glanced down at the phone in his pocket with it's battery removed. He could, but then he'd have to explain why he wasn't at the U.A. dormitory set aside for the two of them, waiting for Yagi to return. And he'd probably be interrupting the meeting, and then that would just get him into even more trouble…

So, that plan went out the window and his mind wandered again.

So far it hadn't been too hard to avoid being seen; especially by the few teachers on patrol, Izuku noted as he wandered around the campus, aimless.

The security was pretty lax.

Except for a few restricted areas he'd been made aware of days earlier, he had free reign of the area. No supervision from staff, either. Not that there was much to be doing anyway, trouble or not. Izuku hadn't been sure what he'd expected to find at U.A. but, so far he wasn't too impressed.

He wasn't sure where he was going, but there really wasn't anything for him to do. So, he kept walking, moving from building to building, trying to find something interesting.

He'd already unpacked all his belongings and had been introduced to the teachers as necessary. He couldn't even study the student's quirks; the school hallways had been empty since the semester hadn't started yet, and as he could now confirm, the rest of the gigantic campus grounds were much the same.

Except for the USJ.

That was one of those aforementioned restricted sections though (he most certainly wasn't miffed that he couldn't go try it out for himself). Maybe he should ask to see the facility later? All Might would let him, he was sure.

Okay, maybe he was a bit impressed. Still didn't change that he was bored.

So, instead, he tried not to fall too deep into his thoughts as he paced about once more. As he'd learned the hard way, sometimes it was better not to think so much.

Which was easier said than done… Izuku groaned, it still didn't make any sense to him.

One day, without any warning, All Might told him they'd be moving to the U.A. dormitories for an indeterminate amount of time—Izuku hadn't even know they had dormitories at the prestigious high-school—because staying at the tower wasn't safe anymore.

Which was ridiculous!

It was one of the most secure buildings in the world, and best of all, All Might lived there!

And if it wasn't, well… he doubted anything else would be able to help the situation at that point. So, logically the safest place for him would be in the tower, where he'd been living in with All Might for the past five years.

Right?

Right.

Of course. But then… still, something felt off about it all.

What exactly was the reason behind his mentor acting so strangely?

There didn't seem to be any logical explanation to it. With that thought, he paused for a moment, before continuing along a new path. But, Yagi said it was safer this way. He'd also seemed rather paranoid lately and in fact, Izuku was also pretty certain that his own location was being kept track of through his phone. Which was why he removed the battery as a temporary stop-gap.

It was definitely annoying, even if he'd never used it for anything useful anyway.

He'd thought that sort of thing ended with his m—

"Little listeners, right this way!"

Izuku froze on the spot, like a deer caught in the headlights of a car. He knew that voice. Present Mic sounded almost chipper as he walked up, leading a group of nervous-looking prospective students behind him.

"Huh? Midoriy—"

But his body moved of its own accord and with a crackle of green electricity running across him, he was gone. A pinprick in the distance.

"Uh… wow. Is anybody else seeing this," Kaminari pointed out.

"… yeah."

Izuku blinked several times.

Oh no…

He landed gracefully on the edge of the campus wall, feet firmly planted on the mix of concrete and steel as he glanced back at the crowd trailing after the pro hero. They were staring at him with wide eyes, and Izuku gave them all the best attempt at a smile he could manage, before turning away and leaving them behind.

"Ah…"

Izuku swallowed thickly, face flushed red with embarrassment. No way would he be able to face his mentor when he heard about this from Present Mic. Maybe it wasn't too late to return to the dormitory and pretend nothing happened? No, no, no. That wouldn't work.

This was a disaster, and Izuku wanted to be anywhere but here.

Dropping down on the opposite side of the wall, Izuku began hopping across the rooftops; the ground beneath him smearing into a blur as he ran away from what had just transpired as fast as he possibly could. If he stopped running, he'd have to face All Might one way or the other. He couldn't afford to turn back. Not now. Repress it and pretend it never happened.

Faster and faster, he kept running and jumping from tiled rooftop to rooftopafter all, All Might never said anything about staying on the campusand nearly tripping on the latest landing, arcing over streets full of people below.

He was going to be in so much trouble.

He could feel the lighting suddenly crackle and pulse, thrumming with power, and he wonders if even his quirk is laughing at his misfortune.

It probably is.
