Downing another ale while the crowd is rambunctiously raving around him. Sitting alone at the booth. Some would call it sulking, others would say he's just enjoying his night. It's just how you look at it.
Adaline walked into the bar, her dark brown hair flowing to her waist draping over her silver-colored armor. Passing by the many partygoers to ask the bartender for something on the rocks. Downing a shot before the bartender slid down a red-colored drink with a few odd-shaped pears nuzzled beneath the rocks of her drink. Taking a sip and scoping the area. Seeing the usual crews of hunters, warlocks, and titans being mary all around. Noticing a lone Titan drinking, mind off somewhere. Piquing her interest she ordered another shot downing it and shaking off her nerves before heading over.
"What's a hunk of a man doing alone in a place like this? What you sippin on seems like a hoot." Adaline announced as she slammed her glass on the table while she slid into the opposite side of the booth.
The Titan looked at Adaline, his glowing blue eyes matched his pale skin, his light red hair parted to the left barely covering his face. Giving her an annoyed look taking a large sip from his large mug.
"Hmm, not much for words, or are you just being elusive. Either way, can I bother you for a moment of your time. You look like one hunk of a man and I wouldn't mind your curves against mine if you get my drift?"
"That's flattering though I'm already spoken for. If you don't mind I'd like to enjoy my drinks in peace." His voice deep and dismissive taking another sip.
"Oh come on don't be that way. I'm just trying to show you a good time. Is that such a bad thing? They don't have to know about us."
"Not interested…."
"Maybe I was a little too forward. Can I at least get your name? What even brings you to this side of the tower? when there are better bars to be at."
After a deep sigh, he responded, "The name is Xavier. Unless you've got some work for me then keep it moving.."
"Bit rude but mommy likes.." She said under her breath before answering back, " Are you looking for crucible matches or bounty work? There is a little mission I had been dodging due to not having a partner to tackle it with."
"I'm listing…." His ears perked up giving her his undivided attention.
Flipping her hair and summoning her ghost she showed schematics of a gun she had been looking for. Amazed by what he saw caused him to put down his drink and examine the image.
"Seems I've got your attention. I've found remnants of it on the moon and Mars." Adaline said before taking a large gulp of her drink.
Taking a few more moments to inspect the glorious weapon he ordered shots for both of them.
"There had been sightings on Venus the vex had plagued that area for quite a while." He said
"I don't mind taking a trip to Venus. Got a lot of nice tourist spots."
"I've also got a few things to do while we're there. The warlock who last owned that weapon was sighted at an abandoned outpost."
"Then what are we waiting on? Let's get a move on." Adaline said, downing her drink and getting up from the booth.
As she got up a titan bumped into her knocking her off balance.
"Watch where you are going Adaline. You got the glimmer you owe us for losing that sparrow race last Tuesday? " Said the Titan with a group of titans and warlocks. Surrounding the booth that they sat at.
Getting up and brushing herself off she stared him down. "I don't owe you a damn thing. Y'all lost so don't get ya panties in a bunch."
"You cheated and you know it. Just pay up and we'll forget this all happened." The titan said cracking his knuckles.
"How bout another wager. You get rid of this debt if I beat you in a game of clash in the crucible. Hows that sound?" A smug look on her face
"You're on. If we win your debt will be doubled." The titan said taking a step back
"Sounds like a bet. Let's go Xavier, seems there has been a change of plans."
Xavier looked at her a bit confused but shrugged, "Fine but this will cost you a round of drinks."
Heading to an arena near the tower they readied their weapons for combat. Two vs four in a game of clash. First to a set number of points to win.
"Well just enter a stadium no one is using. The faster we settle this the faster I can get back to my drinks." Said the Titan wearing really bulky armor nothing like Xavier's. Having a dark green tint.
Adaline agreed, seeing as how she finally found someone to help. Trying to get back to finding that gun. Xavier materialized a white rifle that read Suros on the side. At first glance Adaline didn't notice anything about the weapon that was out of the ordinary. Spinning her handcannon as the time to start counted down. The guardians began the fight. On opposite sides of the area littered with many obstacles. In the first encounter Adaline rounded the corner firing two shots into the body of the first out three titan she saw. Taking two more shots one missing entirely and the other hitting its mark square in the helmet. With one guardian down Xavier hopped over cover emptying the whole magazine, each bullet finding their mark wiping out the two other guardians that lay before them taking the first round. Spawning into the next round Xavier and Adaline got the jump on the opposing guardians. Adaline landed five shots each into the bodies of two of them and Xavier taking out the third. Locked and loaded, Adaline decided to play decoy for the final round. Sliding into the open the enemy guardians focus fire on her while a purple shield made of pure void energy bounced off the wall cleaving through two of the enemy guardians. As the shield bounced into the air Xavier caught it then bashed it into the final guardian claiming victory.
The group of guardians feeling salty about their loss honored their commitment and left. In the stands sat a lone woman who came down to see Xavier and Adaline.
"Babe I didn't think you'd be here? Howdy did you even find out about this match?" Xavier said as he hugged her gently in his armor.
"There was a match that got added to the schedule last minute. I was in the area and decided to check it out and here we are." The human with light brown hair, having streaks of blond through it, wearing a blue dress and black thigh highs with silver studded boots.
"Dang so he's already taken, I'll just have to set my sights on someone else then. Anyway I'm Adaline and I'll be kidnapping Xavier for a little while longer. Got some unfinished business to take care of." Adaline said, holstering her handcannon.
"That's fine, just have him back at a reasonable time. By the way, my name is Elaine. Pleased to meet you." The lady joked as she released Xavier from the hug.
"Oh I'm Adaline, the pleasure is all mine. Let's get moving. Get your ship and meet me on Mars." She said before heading to the hanger.
After about an hour the two arrived on the planet Mars, an arid desert planet with barely any plant life. Although there were plenty of cabal outposts and Vex terminals. It seemed like they were constantly fighting here. Not a problem though, for Adeline and Xavier were on a mission. Summoning their sparrows, the two headed towards a Vex conduit not far from the landing zone. As the two pulled up on the conduit a few Vex showed up firing their blasters at them. Adaline quickly destroyed them with a few rounds from her handcannon. Accessing the conduit some platforms appeared in the casum nearby leading to an overpass further down. The two took the path carefully timing their jumps to not fall. Once down there, they came across an abandoned ghost that looked like it had been there for a couple of centuries. Xavier, a bit hesitant to proceed, readied his weapon as Adaline touched the ghost. It came to life before rising up and shaking off the dust. The ghost began to speak.
"Hello guardian, are you willing to fight for what you seek? Your prize is awaiting. Just defeat the vex Menator."Said the ghost before vanishing and a large mechanical humanoid body, made out of a silver alloy holding a large blaster materialized into the overpass.
"We are in for it now…." Adaline said, pulling her handcannon and the two spread out. Taking shots at the Vex Menator it seemed to do little damage.
Xavier grabbed cover firing his auto rifle, spinning up at the end of his magazine doing extra damage. Though it still didn't seem to do too much damage. Adaline took its agro as it fired large shots that had rocket-like explosions. Dodging the explosions as she dashed around the overpass, laying down shots where she could. Xavier threw a few grenades to wear it down, taking its attention off Adaline while she reloaded. This war of attrition was argus as Xavier migrated from cover to cover while Adaline kept the Mentor's agro. Taking three more grenades from both of them and many bullets the Menator fell to pieces.
Taking a deep breath the two sighed in relief, as the ghost reappeared and revealed a path to the a small laboratory nestled in the base of the casum. On the wall was a pulse rifle, bloody spikes protruding out of the end of the grip right before a bloody bayonet. Quickly grabbing the weapon the two left the laboratory as it collapsed behind them.
