Chizuru frowned slightly when Kenji and a young man brunette who accompanied him approached her. She was intrigued, these guys rarely spoke to her, and of course they wouldn't do it since every time they met, Okita and Heisuke were always around and that would cause problems, she wasn't interested in having any interaction with them either, they were too annoying and, although she liked Kaori very much, she didn't want any kind of relationship with her brother Kenji.
"Hi, girl," Kenji took two steps toward her while the young brunette man kept behind, crossed of arms.
"Hi," She said quietly, not wanting to be rude, but without implying that she wanted to talk to them.
"How are you?"
Chizuru remained silent for a few seconds. She was confused. Why was he being nice to her? "I'm fine," she replied softly.
Kenji laughed low seeing her confused expression. "Don't be so surprised, Chizuru, I know we're not very friends, but I like you, you really do." The guy moved closer. "Too bad that I can't say the same about your friends"
The young girl made a face of disgust at his words. "You don't have anything to say about them, they're excellent guys."
Kenji rolled his eyes, leaving a little his cheeky smile. "Let's say we have different opinions, but that's not new."
The girl inspired heavily without saying anything else. It was not worth answering.
"It's weird to see you alone around here." The guy commented curiously, breaking the silence that had settled around.
"I don't come alone." She said firmly.
"Really? I don't see any of your friends around here. " Kenji pointed, looking around. "And it's not like I'm dying to see them."
Chizuru tilted her head, looking over her shoulder; Saito was not in their place, for a moment she wondered where he had gone. She looked back at Kenji, needing to get away from these guys quickly.
"Do you need anything?" She asked, ignoring his mocking words of and wanting to know the reason why they approached her. Her tone was not the friendliest, she knew, but she felt really uncomfortable.
Kenji smiled; The girl was extremely interesting, she was kind but could also be rude when required.
"Dai-kun wanted to say hello." Kenji pointed to the guy brunette behind him. "I guess, he's just a little shy to get close."
"I'm not shy'" Dai smiled cheekily approaching to both. "I just like to wait for the best moment."
Chizuru watched the guy scan her blatantly making her feel more uncomfortable than she already was. She hugged herself trying to protect herself from his bold look. She just wanted to take her candies and return with Saito, she wanted him with her at that moment. To his side, she felt so safe.
"Good," she said, avoiding his gaze and taking her candies from the machine. "I have to go now." Chizuru took two steps to leave, but the young man brunette immediately blocked her path.
"Why are you leaving so fast, honey? Let's talk a little more. " Dai smiled.
"No, thanks" The young girl moved away from him quickly. "Can you let me pass, please?"
"Nah, stay a little longer, you'll see that we are fun." He smiled "I've always thought that Haku's girls are very pretty, especially you….. look how beautiful you look today." Chizuru frowned, she found the guy extremely unpleasant; his compliments didn't interest her at all.
Dai raised his hand to her and Chizuru backed away, before she could get away enough to not touch her, Saito had reached her side holding the guy's wrist tightly. His bluish look that minutes ago was clear and calm, now was looking the young man with a coldness and hardness that could be noticed with the naked eye.
"Hey! What the fuck do you think you are… " Dai drowned in his words looking at the young Stoic, apparently recognizing Saito.
"Be careful with that hand." Saito spoke coldly; His warning tone was so serious that it left no room for discussion. Dai backed down rubbing his wrist when Saito let him go.
"Saito-San!" Chizuru clung to the sleeve of his jacket, relieved to see him; the young indigo gave her a slight nod and then returned his attention to the guys.
"I know you" Dai spoke again. "You are the sub-captain of Haku, aren't you?"
Saito did not answer, his sharp gaze still fixed on the guy.
"So you are the sub-captain of Haku." Kenji, who had been silent, intervened. Saito looked at him sideways and waited for him to continue. "I finally know you; I was beginning to think that the Haku's guys were just making things up. I'm Kenji, Kendo's captain of the Nintai School. Sure you have heard of me. "
"I heard something." Saito said without much interest.
Kenji frowned at his cold and selfless tone, but continued. "The guys say that you're good. If what you were looking for was a good Kendo's team, you would have chosen Nintai; I don't think that Haku was the best option."
"Do you think so?" Saito had not changed his position. His calm appearance, but he was really irritated.
"Ah, maybe you should reconsider; Souji is not the perfect captain he usually feigns. "He's not a reliable person."
Chizuru opened her eyes in surprise. Was Kenji trying to take Saito from their side? Trying to convince him that abandons them? She would not allow it.
"That's not true." The young girl intervened quickly. "Okita-san is a good captain, and reliable besides everything."
Kenji looked at her for a few seconds, and then turned his attention to Saito who kept his Stoic face.
"Chizuru-Chan, honey" Dai looked at her. "It is a conversation of men; the girls should not interfere, besides… ..
The young man brunette had not finished speaking when he felt himself being dragged by the lapel of his shirt. Face to face with Saito, he could feel his cold look freezing even more making him feel chills.
"Don't talk to her like that." Saito said clenching his teeth. "She can talk as much as she wants and that is not in dispute, anyway, I am not interested in continuing to talk with you." The Dai stumbled when Saito released him, backing away quickly.
Kenji inspired heavily, his friend did not know when to keep quiet. "Excuse Dai-kun, he doesn't know how to treat the girls."
"It's better that choose his words well." Saito was very patient. But the situation had him a quite tense." And about what you said before, I know Souji, he is a competent captain, who better to trust."
Chizuru smiled internally. She was a fool for thinking even for a second that Saito might leave them. He would never do.
Kenji narrowed his eyes, but said nothing, as far as he could see, Saito was loyal.
"Anyway, what do you want?" Saito asked seriously.
"We just wanted to greet Chizuru-chan. That we don't like some Haku's boys; it doesn't mean that the girls are included. There is a problem with that?"
"None, as long as she wants to talk to you"
"Why wouldn't she want to? We are a better company, the girl should thank us. " Dai whispered under his breath.
Saito narrowed his eyes crossing his arms at his apparent discomfort. Dai backed away hesitantly, realizing that his comment did not make any grace to the young Stoic.
"Women, friend, are a strong distraction." Kenji spoke attracting again Saito's attention. "For now we are more interested in kendo, we have a demanding training. We'll see if you turn out to be as good as everyone says. "
Saito studied the guys carefully; they were the kind of people that he didn't like to have close. Arrogant, conceited, petulant, all his life he had to deal with people like that, and he hated it.
"It seems good to me" The young president conceded after a few seconds of silence. "Because I won't be gentle with any of you, of that you can be sure." He took Chizuru's hand and made their way through the guys to return to their table.
"He looks strong." Dai commented, watching Saito walk away, "and he doesn't seem to be a very sociable person."
"No matter, we will beat Haku anyway. This guy makes no difference. " Kenji turned around followed by the young man brunette and left the place. Meet Saito only increased his desire to beat the team that considered themselves superior. He had to show that he was much better than Souji.
Saito inspired gently trying to relax. The situation of minutes ago really bothered him. He had practically got up from the table to get some bitter tea, if the candies that the girl was going to bring were too sweet, the tea would help to his palate. He was calm until he saw the idiots harassed the girl. The fact alone, made him irritated, he could see Chizuru's face of discomfort as she tried to walk away.
Not a second thought to, he approached and take charge of the situation; nobody was going to hurt her or bother her while he could avoid it.
His eyes softened when he looked at her, she was playing distractedly with the edge of the bowl where she had placed the candies.
"Are you alright, Chizuru?" He asked, calling the girl's attention.
Chizuru nodded softly. "And you? You seemed very angry. "
"It just bothered me that they were bothering you, sorry if I scared you." He was worried that she was afraid of him, but she always kept his fears away.
"You didn't scare me." she replied with a little smile. "I just don't like you get into trouble because of me."
"Why not? Souji and Heisuke seem to find some type of fun attracting problems; maybe I can do the same. " He said in an attempt to joke to make her smile. He was not good at jokes and did not know if he was doing it well, but just seeing her look at him with fun and then smile, he knew he was on the right track.
"It doesn't always work out well for Heisuke-kun and Okita-san, you know. Besides, who will get them out of trouble if you're also involved?"
Saito smiled softly, Chizuru looked more relaxed. He took her free hand, squeezing it gently before speaking, and clarifies his point.
"Listen, Chizuru. I take risk by the people that matter to me and you're one of those people, so if I have to get into a million problems for you, then it's done."
Chizuru felt his heart warm with his words. She knew that he said it sincerely and that made her heart beat a little faster. His touch on her hand was so soft and warm that it differed with the cold and Stoic young man, who always showed outside. He had always been sweet with her, but it was clear that he didn't let see that side of him to others, something in that thought, exited her. It was like a secret between them.
"Are you sure?" Sometimes I usually give a lot of problems. She joked.
Saito nodded. "I don't usually go back when I decide something." He released her hand quickly, missing the warmth it gave him.
"I see." she smiled softly. "I really thank you for rescuing me. Kenji-san and his friends are really bothersome. "
"I noticed, those kinds of people are irritating."
"Do you know something?" The girl leaned a little on the table. "I think that Kenji-san's sister is another of Okita-san's many fans."
"Is that so?" Saito asked curiously. He saw her nod with a slight touch of fun in her eyes. "That sounds like a lot of problems." He said, while taking one of the candies from the bowl. Her smile widened, dragging him beside her as he smiled shyly.
Chizuru was happy. Saito's mood was good, that meant he was having a good time, despite their little bump into Kenji and his annoying friend. It was good to be with him, just the two of them talking freely. She stared at him while trying one of the candies. She couldn't take her eyes off him, he looked so cute.
Saito looked away from the girl and decided to rummage through another candy just to keep busy. Her scrutiny didn't bother him, but it made him nervous and it was something he wasn't used to.
"What?" He asked softly, looking up at her. He didn't want her to think she was bothering him, but his curiosity was winning.
Chizuru grinned softly. She didn't want to tell him that she thought he looked cute because she knew that would embarrass him, and she simply shrugged. She thanked that her phone rang just then, because that way she could avoid his questioning look.
Saito knew that she didn't want to tell him what she was thinking, her gaze was soft and sweet, and so he supposed it shouldn't be a bad thing, but he still wanted to know. He saw her take her phone from her purse and answer kindly.
"Yes, of course I will go, I see you in twenty minutes."
He heard her say, feeling disappointed that their time together was over. He would have liked to stay a little more at her side.
When she hung up the phone and looked at him again, he prepared for the farewell, however her question surprised him. It didn't come close to what he thought he would hear.
"Saito-san, do you know to tell stories?"
I'm sorry. It took me a while to update, but here is the next chapter. Guest, I thank you that you still follow this story and always have words of encouragement for me. Thank you.
