"Hermione?"

Hermione couldn't believe it. Out of all people that could be selected as head boy. Ronald Weasley.

Hermione chose to ignore him, and looked intensely at her book. "Blimey, why do we always meet in the Hogwarts compartments?" Ron said quietly. Hermione picked her head up slightly and looked around the compartment.

Right as Ron was about to say something else the prefects came flooding into the compartment with them.

"Wow I can't believe I was selected!" One said loudly. "Rose? where is Rose? she should be here any moment!" One yelled. The chatter broke into the room in a instant causing Hermione to finally lower her book.

"Everybody please quiet down. I know it's exciting but I can't even hear myself think." Hermione said quickly, just loud enough for everyone to hear her.

"Excellent now that we've got your attention, I'd like to take role to make sure that everyone is here." Ron said smiling, giving glances to Hermione.

"Jeremiah-Hufflepuff?"

"Here!"

"Marcella Jane- Slytherin?"

"Hi."

"Josh- Slytherin?"

"Hello."

"Tomas-Ravenclaw?"

"Hola."

"Ashley- Hufflepuff?"

"Hi!"

"Elizabeth-Ravenclaw?"

"Here."

"Marcos-Gryffindor?"

"Hullo."

"And lastly. Rose- Gryffindor?"

"She's not here." Said Elizabeth. "Must have found something more interesting then this, cause all this feels like is school." Marcella Jane said in mumble. "But this is school." Ashley piped up. "Is it?" Marcella Jane said quickly. "Ok your even weird for a Slytherin and that isn't a compliment." Josh said loudly.

"Quiet! Quiet!" Hermione said louder then Josh. "Elizabeth where is the last place you saw Rose?" Ron asked. "Walking down to find a seat." Ron thanked her and shot up out of his seat.

"Where are you going?" Hermione asked, she seemed to have finished trying to ignore him "Have to find Rose you stay I'll be right back." Before she could reply he left.

"That's the last thing you said before you left." Hermione added under her breath so nobody could hear but herself.

After a couple minutes Ron returned with a redhead girl trailing behind him. "Found her." He called out to nobody. Hermione didn't answer, instead she took her pencil and brushed a check mark onto the attendance paper. She then pocketed it to later give to a professor.

"Alright well you all know why you are here. You were chosen to be the prefects for the year. This is a lot of responsibility that's why only the best students and the best people are chosen for these jobs." Ron said sneaking glances at Hermione occasionally.

"Now, being a prefect can seem like a lot of work- but if it ever gets too stressful- the good thing is that you don't have to always take shifts and jobs. You only have to take a certain amount of shifts before you can add it to your wizarding credits. I'll explain more at the end of the year when you are ready." Hermione said looking around at the confused faces.

"Good. So we will start with assigning minor shifts to start basic and to help you learn how to manage people. I've put together a mini job list just based of the attributes I noticed during the meeting. Take a look." Ron said tossing the parchment onto a seat.

"You did?" Hermione said astonished. "Yeah, although it sounds kinda lame compared to you who brought literal notecards." Ron said pointing to her stack of cards.

"Just incase." She said turning red. She then remembered her anger at Ron and started to ignore him again. He seemed to have noticed but didn't say anything because he didn't have a chance with all the chatter.

Hermione looked at the list finally herself after the prefects had gotten a chance to see it. Her stomach gave a jolt as she saw Ron's familiar handwriting. She pushed the feeling away naturally, leaving her no moment to dwell.

Rose and Elizabeth- Back train

Josh and Tomas- front trainMarcos and Jeremiah- Middle train

Ashley and Marcella Jane- special compartments

"I have a objection." Marcella Jane said giving her hand a half raise. Hermione expected her to want to sit out but she was surprised by her response.

"It's MJ. An also how should we go about patrolling?" Hermione couldn't help a smile escape her mouth.

"MJ has a great point! So basically your job is to make sure that everyone is behaving and not causing too much chaos. You can take and add house-points and you can also give out detentions. Although if you do so then you have to organize the whole detention and that can be a major hassle." Hermione said finishing

"Any other questions?" Ron said curiously. "Ok then. Off you go. We will tell you when you need to be back."

Hermione watched as one by one the group of prefects left.

"MJ seems a bit like a oddball." Ron said looking directly into her eyes. Hermione avoided eye contact. "So did Luna." Said Hermione coldly. Hermione stood up. "Where you going?" Ron asked. "Patrolling." Hermione responded.

"We have to patrol them patrolling. Plus i'd like to see some old friends." Hermione said quickly. "You go ahead I'll be right there." Ron said smiling. "Don't get too comfortable, it wasn't a invite." Hermione said coldly before disappearing out the door.

Leaving Ron to trace the bushy brown hair that followed her as she walked away from him. He couldn't help but let a small smile escape his lips. This was going to be a interesting year. Except the ironic part is that the year technically hasn't even begun.
