(Japan, Mustahfu, Dagobah beach)

The sound of waves, and the sound of the gentle ocean breeze blowing through. Those were the only things that Yoshimura Eto heard standing on the shore. Once was a symbol of terror and blood, now she was just focusing on digesting the things she just ate with nothing on her body. An average ghoul can survive a month with just a corpse. Well, there were abnormal beings like 'The Binge Eater', but she was not one of them. So, she was pretty satisfied with her breakfast.

She sighed as she watched the scenery in front of her eyes. It was pretty decent even though there was still some garbage in the corner. She didn't really care about those, so she was just relaxing there. However…as she just stood there and enjoyed the scenery, something started to bother her.

Nausea.

'Ugh…god…ugh…why am I suddenly nauseous….? God dammit….feel like I'm gonna vomit…'

Surprised at the sudden nausea attacking her, she immediately covered her mouth to avoid vomiting. But the nausea got worse and worse as her breathing got heavier. After fighting with the nausea for a moment, she succumbed to it. She started to retch as she put her hand away from her mouth for air, and after almost immediately that, she vomited. Fortunately for her, the vomiting didn't last long. After she coughed up a pair of white socks out of her mouth, her nausea disappeared like magic.

"Ugh…fuck…that…was…horrible… Anyway…looks like I failed to filter this small thing with my Kakuja…Phew…Let me just…throw that away." Putting a frown of disgust on her face, she threw the pair of socks away to the ocean. With her superhuman, no, super-ghoul strength, the socks landed where Eto couldn't properly see well. Seeing the socks disappear, she rinsed her mouth with seawater. She didn't like the salty feeling, but it was better than having her mouth stained with vomit the whole time.

Now that the taste of vomit got replaced with the taste of sea salt, she settled down on the shore and started to think about what in the actual world was happening. She was still experiencing some kind of brain fog. She didn't have any memory of why she was stranded in the water. Her most recent memory was on the battlefield. Where she regenerated her head like a miracle and gave the best middle finger she'd ever done in her whole life. After doing that, she fainted and fell unconscious because she used all her energy solely on reviving. And honestly, even though she had some breakfast as she touched land, she wasn't exactly full because she was so empty and weak after the incident.

'Okay…what in the world happened to me…? I…was on the battlefield seconds before… But I'm here now…? First of all, where am I, anyway? Did someone kidnap me and took my organs or something…?' She thought, clutching her foggy head. While she was lost in her thoughts, something bolted across her head. The box. The small, wooden box that made her survive while she was floating on the sea. Since she didn't know how to swim, the box was a lifesaver. To know more about the box, she searched for it on the shore. The box wasn't far away from her. She shortly walked towards it and picked it up.

The box wasn't that big. She could hold it with one hand. And it was pretty light. She assumed that it was its light weight that made her float on the ocean. She looked for an opening to check what was in the box. But to her surprise….

There was no such thing as an opening. The box didn't have a lid, and it didn't even have a trace or sign of an opening. It was just a solid wooden box.

'What…? What box in the world doesn't have an opening…? Like, is there a legendary treasure inside this…? And…is it waterproof? Why is it not wet, while I'm soaking wet…? Okay…guess there's one way to figure this out…'

'Let's break this thing.'

Eto brought up her hand high and slammed the box down to the shore.

The box didn't budge.

'Okay…that's pretty strong…how about….this!'

Eto threw the box once again.

It didn't even crack.

'What the fuck. Is this shit made of Vibranium wood or something? Okay, let's see how you react to…this!' After picking up the box again from the floor, she held the box tight and clutched it with her super-ghoul strength. She grabbed the box for a few seconds. And finally, she finally heard the box crack. And after a few more seconds, the box shattered into pieces, dropping its contents to the floor.

'Yes! Finally! My god, that was the sturdiest box I've ever seen in my entire life! Phew….okay…now then…What did drop from this box…?' Eto looked down to check the dropped contents of the box.

And she could not believe her eyes.

The box had three things inside.

A smartphone, a wallet, and a key with a coated piece of paper attached to it.

'Okay…this…is…unexpected… Like…what the hell is this anyway? Was that box from Minecraft survival mode or something…? Where they give you some things for survival…? Well…a smartphone and a wallet… Yeah…this is Minecraft survival mode in real-life.' Eto smirked as she thought of some funny things about the box. But right now, she was more concerned about the contents of the box. She kneeled down and picked up one of the materials from it.

First, the wallet.

It's common sense for a good person to return the wallet to the owner when finding a wallet on the floor. But…Eto wasn't a totally good person. So, she casually picked the wallet up and scanned its contents. There were two cards, and…no cash.

'No cash? Come on, what do you mean by no cash! And…a credit card…? What's this, a trap? Are they trying to make me into a thief by putting this here? Pfft, pathetic. Well…nothing special about this, then…how about this one….?' Eto pulled the second card from the wallet.

And it almost made Eto faint.

This was what stunned Eto.

'高槻 泉'

It was nothing special.

Except for the fact that the same could be read as…

Takatsuki Sen.

Takatsuki Sen. Her pen name she used when she used to be a novelist. The name she pretty much liked when she first made it, and the name she was so familiar with. Being so shocked of seeing her pen name on a random card, she put the card in front of her eyes immediately.

And she dropped down to the floor. Because of….this.

'Student ID Card: Kamii Junior High.'

'Student…ID card…? The fuck? Am I…a middle school student…? Like…fuck that! I'm…fucking 27! And wait…why is this school name super familiar…?'

She continued reading.

Student ID Card: Kamii Junior High.

Student Name: Takatsuki Sen (高槻 泉)

Sex: Female

Class: 3-E

It was a simple ID card, showing her name, sex, and her class. But it was enough to make her submerged in reading the card again and again. While she read the card, she found her photo. The photo had her with messy tied hair and round glasses she sometimes used when writing. Instead of her pretty mature look as a 27-year-old grown woman, she looked like a young girl in the photo. In extreme frustration, she grabbed the credit card again and searched for the owner's name on it. And yes, the owner was Takatsuki Sen.

'What…the….fuck….? Why…am I a teenager all of a sudden…And why is my pen name on these…And…what….? What…why…? Huh….?' Eto lost her words looking at the mysterious cards in her hands. Almost getting a headache because of her confusion, she picked up the second content of the box, now in a squatting position.

The second content was the smartphone.

The smartphone she picked up wasn't the newest one on the block. Since it had buttons.

Feels old, eh?

Scanning the smartphone, the first action she did was press the home button. A lock screen appeared. And there were no passwords or patterns! Yay! In delight, she unlocked the lock screen and reached the main screen. It was pretty empty with the fewest apps she'd ever seen. There were no signs of additional apps. Just the basic ones like camera, gallery, and maps.

'Okay…looks pretty bland…So…what can I do here…? Hmm…looking at the gallery might be fun!' She touched the gallery button subconsciously. And after 0.1 seconds, she lost her balance, and almost threw the phone away into the abyss.

'What…the….fuck?!' In front of her eyes, there were photos. But they were not regular photos. They were…

Selfies.

And not just normal selfies.

They were something special. Featuring Eto as a teen girl striking a cute pose with a skimpy outfit in front of the camera at various places like a park in Tokyo where she used to visit when she had trouble writing, or a dark staircase, or a house. Where…she'd never actually been. She blushed as if her face was on fire while she scrolled down her numerous selfies. And her blushes were genuine because…

She actually had memories of taking these selfies when she was young. After she started her career as Takatsuki Sen, she got herself a phone, which….she took an awful lot of selfies with it. Yes, she was a novelist who wrote the deepest, darkest novels, and yes, she was a half-ghoul who had the darkest pasts. But…she was actually a teenage girl back then, so she was kinda obsessed with taking those pictures. However…seeing those pictures now when she is a grown woman…It was kinda embarrassing to look at.

'Oh my god…What the hell was I thinking back then…? And it feels stranger that this thing has my actual pictures in it, taken by…me. And the design looks….awfully familiar…I…think I used a phone similar to this…Is it…? Nah, I must be hallucinating. Okay, on to the next thing,…!' Feeling strange to find out that the phone was almost actually hers, she regained the balance to squat again. Now back into position, she reached for the final objective. The key.

The key was nothing simple. It was made of iron with no special features except for the coated paper attached to it. She took the paper closer to her eyes and scanned the paper. There was something written on it, so she decided to read it. And on the paper, she found something strange. There were some unknown names of places she'd never been before and two words.

'E-2006'

After seeing those words, she was now sure. This was an address. To be specific, an address to an apartment. The letter E meant the code of the building, and the numbers meant the room number. She had experience living in an apartment, so deciphering this was no problem. But…something seemed like a problem to her.

'Okay…so this is a house key then… Then…why?! I mean…why is this thing in the fucking box? I thought the box was some strange Minecraft box… But no! This shit is providing free real estate! I mean…even in Minecraft…I have to build my own house! Like…is this key…really mine? I…my god, I have so many questions to ask if God really exists….' She sighed, grabbing the certain key. The key didn't contain any personal information like the other things she found, but it gave her the most shock. Since she was practically homeless after she came out as a ghoul, a house key(seemingly) came as a big surprise to her. She didn't want to live in the Cochlea again, and she did miss her old house she used as Takatsuki Sen.

'Okay, let's sum up. I was stranded in the middle of the ocean, and a strange wooden box with no sort of opening. I smashed that box, which was super hard, by the way. And there were these shits. A wallet with my student ID card that I've never had, and a credit card, A smartphone with my…goddamn teen selfies…. And a god damn house key. Yeah, everybody loves free stuff but… What, the, fuck. I mean, what the fuck is happening right now? Everything's strange here? Is this place actually Tokyo, anyway? Ugh….and most importantly…'

'It's so fucking cold! Oh god, the wind from the sea and a wet body is a real, real, bad combination. Ugh…I need a heat source or something right now…' The cold breeze of the winter sea hit Eto, and it interrupted her deep contemplation. She wasn't really weak to the cold. Rather, she was pretty immune to the cold because she always roamed the night streets only with bandages around her whole body. They did cover her body, but they really did a bad job at maintaining her body heat, so she was used to some normal colds. But she never experienced floating on a cold winter sea and being exposed to the breeze after being inside the cold water. And because of that, her priorities changed.

Finding shelter.

And in her hands…there was a perfect option.

'Okay…calm down Eto…calm down… I do have this little key in my hands…and wherever this key leads me to…must have a roof and a wall to block this goddamn wind… If someone or something is there…just fucking get them out of the way. Like…I can't freeze to death half-naked here.' Yes, the dreaded One-Eyed-Owl, was now worrying about freezing to death. To avoid her doom, she opened the phone and tried to find the specific location.

'Maps…maps…maps…got it! Now search….?'

'No Wi-Fi connection.'

'No internet? Oh, fuck me. Please tell me I have another option… Oh! I do have plan B! Let me see…'saved location'…'

'Home'

'Heh, convenient. Sounds like a car navigation setting! Okay…let me see….where is this place… Well, well, not far from here! But…quite lengthy to walk…and I don't have ay money for a bus or a taxi… And I obviously can't ride one wearing like this… Dammit…I have to think again!' She clenched her head again in frustration, but this time, she had her decision fast.

'Okay…guess I'll walk there…No cash, no car, although I can't even drive in the first place, and…naked. This…is indeed, a problem. I…don't mind wandering around like this, but…dammit, it's freezing cold now! I'll catch a cold if I wander around like this!' Well, she was focusing on the wrong point, but she was right. She desperately needed something to cover her body. She could use her kakuja, but that was definitely crazy. It would feel like a Godzilla appearing in town. She checked around her surroundings to find something useful, and yes! She found something to use as a cover. A big banner on the roadside.

'Nice! I could use that!' Smiling in triumph, she walked towards the roadside to get the big banner. And before she took a big piece from the banner, she read the contents of it just for fun.

'UA High Application Period: Apply to be the future hero! The time is now! Train and learn in the best Hero school in Japan!'

'U…A…High School…? Never heard of it, but…what kind of school advertises themselves with a big ass banner…? And what is up with this 'hero' thing…? Okay…this is new...guess I'll have to search for some information when I get somewhere warm…Anyway, thank you for the banner, U.A.!' Eto wrapped the banner around herself like a poncho or a cape. It was pretty thin, but it did its job of blocking the wind. And after stretching her body to gain some body heat, she was now decently prepared for action.

'Now this is what I'm talking about! Finally got some heat…! Guess I'll get warmer if I run and generate some heat by it… If I run at the speed of approximately 40 km/h…. Sweet, It'll won't take long! Okay…then…let's…go…!' She took a deep breath, and kicked the ground hard to give herself a boost. With the sound of her jolting through the wind, she departed from the beach.

But also from the ground.

Her body, which was supposed to be moving in two dimensions, was moving in three dimensions. She was literally flying. The strength of her legs was indeed strong, but it was not obscenely strong like this. She turned around her head in panic, and her eyes soon came into contact with a random bird. The bird became terrified and immediately ran away from her. After seeing the bird running away in panic, she looked down.

And she gasped. She was so high up right now. She had some experience of flying, no, gliding. But she's never been this high. And she felt she could literally die when she fell from this height. She had survived a fall from a tall tower, but that was very lucky, and she had to focus on recovery after that fall. But this was higher than that. With haste, she deployed her ukaku kagune from her shoulders. The kagune thrashed for a moment, but it soon came into shape as Eto started to control them. They soon turned into a shape of a giant wing, enabling Eto to glide. Due to Eto's light body weight and the size of her wings, she felt the speed of her fall decrease and the speed of her advance towards her destination increase. She first laughed in happiness and refreshment of flying, but she soon frowned a bit.

'Yeah! I'm not dead! Can't believe I actually did tha… Ow! My legs….? Wait…what the hell happened to my legs…?' She turned her focus to her legs and got surprised at the sight of her legs. They became all red and swollen, emanating pain. Although Eto was used to some amount of pain, she could feel the pain from her damaged legs. She tried to move them, but they didn't move. It seemed that the muscles and the bones were damaged because of her giant leap.

'Okay…looks like my legs were fucked up after that leap… Did that jump strain my legs…? And why did that even happen…? Like I almost let go of my things when I did that! Hah…wish I had a pocket…Or big enough breasts to fit these in the cleavage…. What the hell am I thinking?! Dammit, focus on flying, Eto!' Feeling her legs heal by her crazy ghoul healing factor, she focused on gliding to her destination.

A Few minutes later…

After a few minutes of flying, Eto found a city full of buildings. Since it was early in the morning, there weren't many people who were going to work. But there indeed were some early birds who started the day early. She was kind of a night owl, so she didn't understand them. Watching them, Eto realized something. Flying felt colder than staying on the shore with the sea breeze. The cold air of the upper sky chilled her to death, so she wanted to land somewhere and gain some heat again. So, she looked around for somewhere to land. And thankfully, she found it. A big ass building, with a heliport. But her attitude was not high enough to land there. So, she landed on the window and kicked the window to finish her landing. Thankfully, the window was strong enough to tolerate her strength. She did a happy landing, and squatted down to enjoy the view of the city.

The view from the rooftop was quite a spectacle. Although she preferred the view of the city at the night, but the view in the morning was not bad. It felt really refreshing to look at people starting their day. And there weren't only tall buildings in the city. To her right, there were several apartment squares. It seemed that it was her destination. But she wasn't that interested in the apartment square. What caught her interest was the city on her left. There were some cars passing by the street, even bikes.

'Welp, looks like this place isn't Tokyo...Since I've never seen a city like this before…But it's not that bad! Fewer cars, fewer people… And clean, empty roads… God, why did I stay in Tokyo forever…?' While Eto had some time for reminiscing, a strange truck stopped in front of a building next to her. And after a few minutes…

Boom.

Explosion!

'Wait, what? What the hell happened? What the fuck, bombing in the morning? What the fuck is this place? I thought this place was a peaceful, relaxing city unlike Tokyo, but what…? Where's the peace? Where's the relaxing atmosphere?!' While she was panicking in surprise, some masked people came out of the building. Looking at their masked appearance, she assumed that they were robbers. Not just regular robbers, robbers with bombs. The robbers soon boarded the truck and left the place at full speed.

'Damn, they're crazier than us ghouls! Or…are they ghouls? Anyway… where're the cops?' Now Eto was in full spectator mode. And as soon as she searched for the cops, a strange object zoomed right passed her. It had a brown color, and it was heading towards the scene of the robbery.

'Whoa, what was… Holy shit!' The brown object was a person. With a strange costume. But he was no clown. He turned his hand into a bundle of vines, and restrained the entire car with it. The robbers got out of the car in panic, but the vines split, also restraining the robbers. It looked like a scene from an action movie.

'Damn, I need some popcorn! It's honestly better than the police!' Eto gave him a small applause as he finished his job. The civilians also gave him a round of applause for the great show. Hearing the praise and applause, the brown man jumped away with the robbers tied in his viny hands.

'Well, that was a show. But…flames? What, is the place on fire?... Whoa!' Eto covered her mouth in surprise, as a blue man with fins came and extinguished the fire with water. It was indeed entertaining to look at the scene, but Eto soon got up. Because…

She got bored of it. There were no fights! It was no fun just watching the fire going down. She had work to do rather than that.

'Time to leave… The fight's over, and now nothing to do! And looks like I'm close to my destination too…' Eto stretched her legs to prepare for her second flight.

'Can I do that thing again…? Well...guess I have one thing to do…' Eto squatted down to prepare for the jump, and she did that giant leap again, reentering the domain of the birds. Her legs hurt for a bit, but she soon healed and got used to it. She glided for a few minutes and soon arrived at an apartment square. She searched for a building with the alphabet 'E'. And after 2 seconds, she realized that she was flying right past through it.

'Wait, wait, wait wait! Gotta land here!' As soon as she realized that she was flying past through the building 'E', she disengaged her kagune, and landed on the rooftop of the building.

'Finally here! But…what now…? Based on my experience…the door to the inside is usually locked…Will this key work…? No? Damn it….' She sighed, looking at the key that didn't work at opening the door.

'Then…how about I do this…?' Eto engaged her kagune for a small amount, and she modified its shape into a shape of a key. She turned her back towards the door, and inserted the keygune into the keyhole of the door.

And it worked.

Yay!

She walked down the stairs, and another yay! She found a panel that said the number '20' next to the elevator. She assumed that she must be on the 20th floor of the building. She carefully examined the place, and found panels with arrows on them.

'1,2,3, go to your left, and 4,5,6, go to your right…got it!' She followed the arrow's orders, and finally, reached the ultimate destination. A metal door with a wooden panel attached to it. To be specific, a wooden panel with the name 'Takatsuki' on it. Eto wasn't surprised anymore. In fact, she expected this to happen. She took out the key, hoping that it would fit this time. She put the key inside the keyhole, and turned it. As she expected, it was a perfect match. Showing a triumphant smile, she opened the heavy door. The door creaked as if it wasn't opened for years.

'Finally here… There might be traps… So…Wait…is this place…completely empty?' She prepared to engage her kagune as he entered the place, but she soon let her guard down as she saw there was almost nothing inside the house. Feeling safe, she set foot in the living room.

Room number 2006, the room where Eto was in, was one of the smallest rooms in the building. In fact, the rooms with the number '6' on them had the smallest size in the line. And Eto's was at the top of the building, making the place very discrete. To match its modest size, there wasn't many furniture in there. There was a small sofa that would fit Eto's size, a white laptop on a small desk, and a small table. In short, everything was pretty small. But Eto didn't care. It had almost everything Eto needed, and most of all, the place had roofs and walls, which can protect her from the wind. Plus, she could enjoy a great view because the windows were big. But…there were no curtains.

'Damn…What a place… Is this…really free…? No traps? No schemes…? Wow…this…feels…unreal… Although this place is smaller than my previous house…but…it's better than being homeless or trapped in the Cochlea or something! Oh, bedroom! Neat, let's have a look!

She entered the bedroom. But not through the door. Since…it had no doors. She didn't know why, but it just simply didn't. The room was simple. It had a bed, a dresser and a small window. The end. But she loved it. Especially because the bed looked very comfy. After she looked enough of the house, she returned to the living room, with a relaxed smile on her face. She was pretty satisfied. She had a decent home in a place she'd never been before, a phone, even though she didn't have any phone numbers, and a wallet. A shelter, funds, and a device for contact. Everything was great.

'Phew…Feels like I've gained a vacation villa somewhere outside Tokyo… Not that big, but…a perfect size to dwell in… Hah…so…tired… Looks like all the fatigue is returning to me...' Eto yawned, suddenly feeling the extreme exhaustion. It seemed that her adrenaline has faded because of the relaxing atmosphere. But she rather liked the fatigue she was feeling. She had a freaking house. She was finally able to rest. Yawning the second time, she laid down on the sofa, using the U.A. banner as a blanket. The sofa wasn't the greatest place to sleep on, but it was a pretty decent place to have a short nap. Feeling the fatigue seeping in, she fell asleep.

Once called a monster.

Or one of the strongest, worst ghouls.

Or the One-Eyed-Owl, the leader of the Aogiri Tree.

But she was none of them.

She was just a normal girl, dosing off on the sofa. Her messy hair fell on her face, and her hands fell next to the sofa. She looked the most peaceful in her life.

It was the best sleep she had in years.

(Omake)

Yoshida Kazuo (41), a janitor who works for a building in Mustafu. He was on his morning duty, so he was preparing to clean the building from the top. During preparation, he had a hobby of gazing at the scenery of the city through the big window of the building. And he was doing it today. However, unlike the usual days, he spotted something strange. It was flying, but it was no bird. But it had giant wings as if it were a gigantic bird. It reminded him of Hawks, the No. 3 hero, but Hawks was a night guy, and Mustafu was not his usual patrolling place. He rubbed his eyes to take a better look at it.

And after he rubbed his eyes, he spotted changes. The flying object looked bigger. Now, he could spot colors. The colors he saw were mainly green, grey, white, and the color of human skin. Seeing that, he could now see that the flying object was a person. More specifically a green-haired girl.

'What's…that…? What's a girl doing in the sky…? Is that her quirk…? And why is she coming closer….? What the….?' Yoshida tried to get a closer look by putting his face against the window, but he got knocked out when the girl landed on the window with a big thump. But as he was on the floor, he could see how the girl looked. He couldn't see her face, but he could see her body. Which was covered in bandages instead of clothes. It gave him a bizarre feeling just looking at it. A girl, who looked like she was a high schooler, was naked with some bandages on her breasts and her hips, and she had a strange appendage attached to her back. It was the strangest thing he saw in her 40 years of life.

'Am…I going crazy…? Or…am I dreaming…? Or…is this the alcohol from last night…? No, wait, that was 2 days ago. Then what was….? Ah, forget it, let's just get to work. I'll check on the rooftop later.' After doubting his sanity for a moment, he started his job, cleaning the building. But the scene of a girl flying through the sky and smashing against the building window still lingered in his mind.

The next day, he still couldn't forget the flying girl. So, he visited the eye doctor to see if his eyes were going crazy.

And he was diagnosed as…

Perfect eyesight.

He planned to visit the psychiatrist later.

There were a lot of doctors he had to visit.
