With Christmas not too far away, I thought it would be fun to do a series of short stories as the pair celebrate the holiday over the years. I will attempt to stick to the canon except that part we all don't like. My goal is to post a new chapter twice a week on average (no set day) so I'll arrive at Christmas 2021 by Christmas Day-ish but that may be (very) wishful thinking on my part.

My plan is to incorporate a Christmas song, movie, poem into the story in varying degrees but I don't expect them all to follow the same format. The only common thread is Kate, Caroline, Flora and Christmas so if you have any story ideas that you'd like paired with a Christmas movie, song, poem, etc., please let me know. I can use your help because I only have a couple of rough ideas at the moment but I haven't written anything else yet.

Christmas 2013

A Visit from St. Nicholas (aka 'Twas the Night Before Christmas)...the Kate and Caroline version

'Twas the night before Christmas at the regal estate,

Not a creature was stirring, except Caroline and Kate;

The smiles hung on their faces, they grinned from ear to ear,

The start of forever was finally here;

The ladies were nestled all snug in their bed,

While carnal visions danced in Caroline's head,

And Kate in her splendor, and between them no gap

But as they settled in, there would be no nap.

The sounds from their room, there arose such a clatter,

With neither concerned on changing the matter.

The warmth of their bodies, flesh held against flesh,

They were happy, triumphant, success in their quest.

The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow,

Proved loves still here now that it's tomorrow;

When, what to Kate's wondering eyes should appear,

Blue eyes peering back with love that was crystal clear,

With a hand on Kate's belly, so lively and quick,

She smiled the moment she felt the baby kick.

More rapid than eagles, deep kisses, they came,

Caroline panted, and shouted, and cried out Kate's name:

More pleasure, more ecstasy, more bliss, and elation,

Oh, nirvana, oh, heaven, oh the deluge of sensation.

Everywhere on her body, she would kiss it all,

Kate was flying and over edge she would fall.

With hearts that beat as one and gazing eye to eye,

Arms and legs entwined, their love made them soar high.

With sleep setting in, brown eyes looking at blue,

The ladies smiled and wordlessly said, I love you.

Love was everywhere, there was abundant proof,

As the morning light gently illuminated the roof.

With Celia and Alan, by marriage now bound,

After many years apart, a new love was found.

She was dress'd in nothing, from her head to her foot,

And a loving arm around Kate, she did put.

As her eyes slowly opened, she turned from her back,

Robbie beside her, she had a panic attack.

They walked to their cars, their smiles red as a cherry,

Thoughts of their evening made them oh so merry.

In the cold crisp air, the warmth of love did flow,

They connected and kissed each other, deep and slow.

A trip to visit her father, a promise to keep,

Into Caroline's arms, Kate slowly did weep.

After months of loneliness and a failed plea,

No more 'Kate' or 'Caroline,' they were now a 'we'

They opened Christmas presents, Lawrence played the elf,

A perfect Christmas dinner, she was proud of herself

After a busy day, the pair that was just wed,

With sleepy eyes, they yawned; said it was time for bed.

She'd have to feed the sheep; she'd need to go to work,

So she bid a farewell and gave a wink and a smirk.

She turned to see, a look in Kate's eyes she knows,

As the kids played games and were busy watching shows,

She sprung from the couch, as the pair felt the pull

And away they walked, with hearts that were full:

They took a step and turned, before they were out of sight

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Note: The original poem was first published in the Sentinel in Troy, New York on 23 December 1823 but it was published anonymously so there is debate over who the author was. Many believe it was written by Clement Clarke Moore while others say it was Henry Livingston Jr. and perhaps it was neither.
