I finished watching the second season only ten days after I finished watching the first. Those were back in March and now it's the last day of October. So, yeah. Quite the much bigger gap between updates, wouldn't you say? Instead of just ten days, it was seven months and ten days.

I actually finished watching the third season back on the 27th, but I figured I may as well wait a few more days so I could say I posted it on Halloween. Happy Halloween, by the way. I hope you enjoy reading what I have to say about this awesome show and I would really appreciate it if you left a comment.

Two

GOOD

As soon as she sees another person, she immediately throws a big huge knife at him! That small detail does a great job letting you know what kind of world the episode is set in.

BAD

Rod: This has been ... a love story, about two lonely people who found each other ... in the Twilight Zone.

This ending comes out of absolutely nowhere.

The Arrival

GOOD

The music during the part where he's gonna put his hand in the propeller is top notch!

BAD

George: You better come in here and check me out.

He thinks this means "Take a look inside the plane."

The Shelter

GOOD

While an adult is giving a heartfelt speech about everyone's survival, the camera is focused on two kids picking food off the table and frosting off a cake. This show is amazing!

BAD

When the door's being battering rammed down, the Stocktons just let it happen. What they should do is yell at the people using the battering ram that breaking down the door ruins the shelter.

The Passerby

GOOD

Abraham Lincoln has a cameo at the end. That's awesome!

BAD

Dead or alive, why isn't Lavinia surprised to see Abraham Lincoln show up all of a sudden?

A Game of Pool

GOOD

Jesse: You know what you are to me? You're a big balloon waiting for someone to stick a needle in it. Well I'm the someone and here's the needle.

This line.

BAD

What the heck is Jesse talking about when he says "the right English" to describe the way he sunk the 8 ball?

The Mirror

GOOD

The "NOT WHAT I WANT!" screaming.

BAD

Super unentertaining episode is unentertaining.

The Grave

GOOD

This episode has a good idea for a plot.

BAD

But the execution of that plot is a complete slog.

It's a Good Life

GOOD

This is my second favorite episode of the show. Seeing a character with the same first name as me who gets angry when things don't go his way be depicted as the evil monster you're supposed to hate helped me learn that I should try to stop being like that. Thank you, episode, short story its an adaptation of, and all the people involved with making both.

BAD

It's never explained why Anthony hates electricity.

Deaths-Head Revisited

GOOD

SS Captain Lutze has a great intimidating vibe up until Alfred Becker appears.

BAD

The way Alfred Becker stands is kind of weird when he tells SS Captain Lutze that he's being put on trial for crimes against humanity.

The Midnight Sun

GOOD

The part with the radio news reporter.

BAD

This episode is way too good, so I have to give a massive nitpick as the bad thing. I don't buy that the glass bottle would shatter as much as the sound effect makes it sound like it did.

Still Valley

GOOD

An old man living in Virginia during the Civil War being a witch is an interesting combination.

BAD

Teague says that him, his father, and his grandfather were all the seventh son in their families. There is no reason for this. They at least could've made them be the sixth sons instead so the three sixes would foreshadow the devil being involved.

The Jungle

GOOD

Pretty much the whole episode is spent just building up for the ending and it works really well.

BAD

Why does the curse make the starving guy disappear but all it does to the cab driver is make him pass out?

Once Upon a Time

GOOD

This episode is hilarious.

BAD

The time helmet has a bunch of years listed as options. It's almost every ten years between 1890 and 1990. For some reason, some of the decades are skipped and some are a lot more spaced apart from each other than others are. I understand not prioritizing getting the design right since it's only on screen for a quick moment, but how did they get it wrong this badly? You'd think Professor Gilbert would want the people who use his time helmet to be able to go to more years.

Five Characters in Search of an Exit

GOOD

The clown has a very similar personality to The Joker, so he's funny.

BAD

I couldn't find anything bad about this one. Even if I get super nitpicky like I did with The Midnight Sun, there's nothing worth pointing out. So I guess the bad thing about this episode is that it's too perfect.

A Quality of Mercy

GOOD

The title sounds cool.

BAD

Lt. Katell: Your name is what, soldier?

Who talks like that?

Nothing in the Dark

GOOD

I love this one! I highly recommend it and feel it deserves to be more well known.

BAD

Wanda: I know who you are.

Then why did she ask who he was?

One More Pallbearer

GOOD

Joseph Wiseman gave a fantastic performance in this.

BAD

We get exposition on why Mr. Radin has something against Col. Hawthorne and Mrs. Langsford, but not Rev. Hughes for some reason.

Dead Man's Shoes

GOOD

I like the sound of the episode's premise.

BAD

But not the execution. It was quite boring.

The Hunt

GOOD

The ending is awesome.

BAD

Gatekeeper: Well, you won't get in. The dog maybe, but not you.

Rip will only MAYBE get in to Doggy Heaven?

Showdown with Rance McGrew

GOOD

This is like A World of Difference in reverse. I love it!

BAD

A chair accidentally gets knocked over when they switch to the stunt double. That means it's just gonna instantly move when they edit the footage. Just pick the chair back up.

Kick the Can

GOOD

A World of Difference in reverse is immediately followed up with M. Night Shyamalan's Old in reverse. Neat.

BAD

Who counts by fives when playing Hide and Seek?

A Piano in the House

GOOD

Marvin is quite the joy to watch when he's under the effects of the piano.

BAD

Making a rich character's last name be Fortune is really dumb.

The Last Rites of Jeff Myrtlebank

GOOD

I love the way this one ends. It's never revealed if the other characters were right or not about Jeff being a haint and a lot of things happen that leave the episode with a great mysterious vibe.

BAD

Liz: MAKE WAY FOR THE QUEEN!

This line.

To Serve Man

GOOD

Some of the episode reminds me of Power Rangers Lost Galaxy, which is a personal nostalgic favorite of mine.

BAD

Michael: The fantastic ease with which human beings make adjustments.

Is a thing that doesn't exist. Can confirm.

The Fugitive

GOOD

Rod: It's been said that science fiction and fantasy are two different things: science fiction, the improbable made possible; fantasy, the impossible made probable.

I'm pretty sure I don't agree with that, but it's an interesting way to compare and contrast the two genres. I'm gonna try to remember how this line goes and hope I better understand what Rod means as time goes on.

BAD

I hate the way the kids behave in the first scene. They're cruel to each other for no good reason and annoying.

Little Girl Lost

GOOD

The climax in the other dimension is awesome.

BAD

When Chris is looking for Tina at the beginning, I kept expecting him to say "Where are you?" since that would be the natural thing to do in that situation, but he never does. It's not even a necessary evil to prevent the viewers from finding out where she is because "I don't know," would definitely be her response.

Person or Persons Unknown

GOOD

I am not saying one single good thing about this episode. Because it's a bad episode and there isn't anything good to say about it? NO! It is such a good episode that it deserves to be watched completely spoiler-free.

BAD

Too bad the ending sucks. Wait. Is that a spoiler? If it is, I guess it's one that's actually good to hear to prevent a viewer from being disappointed by the ending.

The Little People

GOOD

Joe Maross gave a great performance in this. He really comes across like a guy who's lost his mind and gone mad with power.

BAD

The first ten minutes or so is just the two guys being annoying by bickering with each other.

Four O'Clock

GOOD

Very little about the episode would change if Pete the bird wasn't in it, which only makes the fact they chose to include him better.

BAD

Crangle keeps yelling about how Mr. Hall is gonna be two feet tall, and yet never calls him Two Feet Hall. Missed opportunity. Puns probably weren't as big in the '60s as they are now, but still.

Hocus-Pocus and Frisby

GOOD

Without knowing at first that they have a weakness to it, Frisby gets away from the aliens by playing harmonica. I love how silly that is.

BAD

There's no scene where Frisby turns into a rat and gets experimented on at NIMH.

The Trade-Ins

GOOD

Rod: Mr. and Mrs. John Holt, in their twilight years, who are about to find that there happens to be a zone with the same name.

Nice!

I'm gonna say two good things for this episode. When they're playing poker, Farraday has three aces but folds, meaning John wins with his three kings. However, they never said if they're using "ace is lower than two" rules or "ace is higher than king" rules. That means it's up for interpretation if Farraday was actually letting John win or if he would've lost and decided to pretend to be generous.

BAD

There's no sound effect while John picks cash money up off of the poker table off-screen. You can still hear him talking, so you should be able to hear the sound of picking up the money too.

The Gift

GOOD

I like Rod's simple yet effective closing narration in this one.

BAD

Why didn't he say what the gift was? He wants them to take it, so not letting them know that's it's an important gift is a really idiotic decision.

The Dummy

GOOD

I have a lot of positive things to say about this episode, but Channel Awesome will eventually cover it in The Twilight-Tober Zone. Chest just out that video when they eventually get to it.

BAD

Frank: Get rid of that bottle and get rid of the crazy obsession that you're battling a dummy.

That's not what "obsession" means.

Young Man's Fancy

GOOD

Top freaking notch episode is top freaking notch!

BAD

Alex talks about how a boy wearing stockings is weird, which I don't understand. Were stockings only worn by girls? Were you not supposed to wear them when you're a kid? Stockings are weird. It sounds like they used to be something people wore and everyone knew what the difference between them and socks was but now the difference is extremely obvious because they're now just things you hang up for Christmas. I wonder if people would still wear them if they hadn't become Christmas decorations.

I Sing the Body Electric

GOOD

A happy ending? Thank you, Ray Bradbury (or Rod, or whoever's decision it was). I love how this show does those so sparingly. It makes it much more satisfying when it occasionally gives us one. I know we just had one a few episodes ago in The Trade-Ins, but still. I wonder if this being the 100th episode had anything to do with why they did it.

BAD

I thought it was a little odd how the plot point about the new car comes out of nowhere. You'd think there'd be an earlier part where someone mentions either that they need a new car or that Tom likes cars.

Cavender Is Coming

GOOD

The bus driver does something funny.

BAD

This episode is very meh. I wonder if it seemed less derivative back when it was new.

The Changing of the Guard

GOOD

The "main character goes back to their past" thing that this show has done a lot is starting to get old, but this episode has a unique spin on it.

BAD

The "Rock Spring Virginia" sign needs a comma.
