The 'Dream' Part 2
"You are expected to search and find this world's future Ultimate Despair, and exterminate them."
Makoto audibly gasped.
"...You mean, I have t-to kill someone?!"
The boy hung his head low, he felt sympathy for Makoto who was still trying to process what was said.
"You can't expect me to kill someone! I-i.." His body was trembling, the events of the killing game fresh in his mind.
...
"M-Murder?!"
"Stabbing, strangling, bludgeoning, crushing, hacking, drowning, igniting, how you do it doesn't matter."
The voice of Monokuma echoes in his head, haunting him.
"You must kill someone if you want to leave. It's as simple as that."
...
He may have escaped but there were many times it didn't feel that way.
The boy knelt down to meet Makoto at eye level, who was still on his knees.
"And what if I don't? What if I don't kill the Ultimate Despair?"
"Then history would repeat, and the tragedy would befall this world, and you'd burn along with it."
For a moment, the boy faltered. Hesitating on using such a harsh tone. And his voice grew softer.
"I know this is going to be hard, and it'll only get harder from here. But-"
"You can't say that! This isn't fair! If you and whoever you work with know so much, you'd know I would never be able to even do such a thing!" He snapped at him. There was no way he could kill. The mere thought of it made him nauseous.
Makoto gripped his head tightly. "Why me?! Isn't there anyone else out there more qualified for this?!" His breath was quickening, panic had filled his mind.
"You were one of the only ones who met all the qualifications. Besides, if anyone can survive this, it's you."
"This isn't fair... THIS ISN'T FAIR!" Without thinking, Makoto shoved the boy in front of him.
The ground beneath him started to shake. But the boy didn't react, to either the ground or the shove. Instead, he steadied himself and looked back at Makoto with sadness in his eyes. He kept quiet, giving Makoto time to process. He looked like he was in deep thought, almost contemplating what he's going to say next.
Makoto was silent and unresponsive. He looked at nothing but the unstable ground, his breath still shaky.
...
"I'm not entirely supposed to say this, but I believe, there's a way."
Makoto's eyes shot up at the boy the moment he heard those last two words. "What?"
For the first time since he'd met him, the boy's face had emotion. Which looked like that of sympathy and concern.
"There...might be a way. A way that doesn't involve any killing."
"How? T-tell me!"
"...I..." The boy seemed to hesitate. "...I don't know..."
He's lying. He has to be...right? He has to know somehow... "Just tell me!"
The boy looked down upon the ground, it was starting to collapse. He's running out of time.
"Makoto, I believe there is a way. I don't know what it is. But somehow...somehow I know you can figure it out."
"I don't understand..."
The world around them is shaking horribly. And out of nowhere, came a loud sound.
crackk
Horrified, Makoto watched as the ground cracked and revealed a large tear across as far as the eye could see. "What's happening?!" He said as he immediately stood up.
The boy almost fell over from the quake, but managed to catch himself. "We... we are running out of time." His eyes darted around nervously.
The boy's eyes met with Makoto's once more but said nothing.
The world of darkness around them was cracking and flaking, revealing a white void around them. And the sounds of destruction were only becoming louder and louder.
"This may or may not be our last meeting. But if we do meet again, I don't know when it'll happen." He spoke almost shouting in order to be heard over the noise.
"H-hold on! I still don't understand what I'm doing!"
Makoto noticed the doppelganger before him was dissipating, along with this 'world'.
The boy gave a sad smile.
"You're going to make it. I know you will."
"W-wait!" Makoto reached out to grab him, but he was far too late.
"Good luck, Ultimate Hope."

Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! For some reason, this chapter was pretty difficult to put together. One may notice that Makoto seems particularly much more mad than he usually is and that it may seem like he was breaking character. Don't worry, it was completely intentional. After all the stuff thrown at him, (all of them being against his will) he's bound to break under the pressure whether he wanted to or not.
I'll be updating this chapter with chapter 5. Since this one's a little short. So you get extra story ahead of schedule!
Again, if you enjoyed, feel free to leave a review. Even if you don't, thank you for reading!
