Sunset
Makoto woke up with a start.
His room was dark, he could just barely see the faintest bit of light peeking through the curtains. It was obviously morning.
He still couldn't fully process what occured during his "dream".
Despite feeling tired, he didn't feel like falling asleep again, so he sat there on his bed and stayed there a full 20 minutes, just thinking to himself.
Afterwards, he walked out of his room to find Komaru watching television.
"Oh hey, you're up early today." She waved with a cheerful smile.
Makoto looks around.
"Where's mom and dad?"
"They went out to do some errands, they'll be back by lunchtime."
"Oh, I see."
Makoto walked slowly to the kitchen to grab some breakfast. He returned to the living room, cereal in hand, and sat next to Komaru.
The news was on, and was currently broadcasting what seemed to be the result of a villain attack.
"Again? Man, we never seem to get a break from these villains." Komaru groaned.
To Komaru, it seemed like this sort of thing was a normal occurance, which slightly frightened Makoto. From the looks of it, this dimension doesn't seem all that safe with all these villains roaming around.
They sat and watched in silence before Komaru broke said silence, "By the way, I've been meaning to ask you something. You were acting strange yesterday. You know, with all the hugging and crying."
Makoto froze, almost choking on his mouthful of cereal.
"I mean, it's nice to know you care but..." Komaru frowned, concern was very apparant on her face.
"It was just a little...odd, you know?" She looked to him, waiting for a response that didn't come.
"...Are you really okay?"
Makoto took a second to think upon his next words before he nodded.
"Yeah, I am. I guess I did feel kinda out of it yeasterday. But I feel much better now."
He smiled a genuine smile, things were complicated. But he wasn't lying.
Komaru smiled at this, satisfied that her brother is doing just fine.
"You know, we're starting school pretty soon. Aren't you excited?" She asked eagerly.
"Wait what?"
"Have you forgotten? We have school next week."
"Ooohhh right...next week." He let out a nervous laugh. "I must have forgotten."
"Geez, did you hit your head or something? You know what, I shouldn't be surprised. You are pretty clumsy." Komaru teased.
"N-no I'm not!"
"Yeah right, clumsy...face." She said, failing to come up with something to tease him with.
"Well, it's not like you're any better."
Komaru opened her mouth to retort, but couldn't find the words. "Alright, fair point." She said begrudgingly. Makoto laughed in his victory, and soon Komaru joined in as well.
And for a moment, everything felt normal.
The day passed very quickly. He learned through passing conversation that they had apparantly just moved in this apartment. He also learned he was going to be a transfer student in middleschool. He was a little upset at that, after all he had already went through middleschool.
At least it was only going to be one school year. It shouldn't be that bad right?
Through passing conversation once more, Makoto learned that there was a beach nearby. He decided he wanted to go see it. It has been a long time since he'd last seen the ocean.
He told his familiy where he was headed and proceeded to walk for a few minutes and arrived only to be slightly dissapointed.
The beach was filled with all sorts of trash and junk, tarnishing the view. He supposed most of these must have washed up on the shore, yet it still bothers him to know this place had become a junkyard.
He sighed at his bad luck.
Leaning on the railing, he watched the golden sun slowly descend toward the horizon.
A few minutes of silence passed and after taking a better look, maybe this view wasn't too bad after all. The beach was messy and ugly looking, yes. But the ocean was just the ocean. And the sun only illuminated it in a beautiful, golden light.
So he stood there, and watched. The breeze was calming as it brushed against his hair. He wanted it to stay like this, calm and peaceful.
Looking at such a beautiful view, Makoto could almost forget that he was supposed to kill someone... which was still a frightening thought.
He only now realized that he had lingered a little longer than he had intended. He stepped away only to look back longingly at the scene before him. Maybe one day this beach would be cleared of all its dirt and be restored to its full beauty once again.
A smile crept unto his face at that small hope, as he began to walk away.
School was coming up. Well to be precise, school had been going on for a few months. Makoto was going to be a transfer student.
And so for the last few days before he started school, the family was getting themselves slowly situated into their new home. Makoto specifically, spent those few days researching everything he can about the world.
Basic history, current superheroes, and the like. The technology here is quite similar in advancement to his world but was definitely superior. He was ultimately impressed at how this world handled quirks and their diversities.
Then finally, the first day of school had arrived.

This chapter was a little easier to put together than the last one. Tip for writers!: You don't always have to write chronologically. What I mean is when you're stuck writing a chapter, you can start writing another chapter that you feel is easier to be done with, then you can go back and finish what you started! It helps keep you motivated to keep up the story. Often times what kills a story, is the difficulty finishing a specific chapter.
That was a tip I learned from a youtube channel called Mckay and Gray. Anyways, have a good day!
