First Days

Makoto stepped off of the car with his sister at the front of his new school, donned in their new school uniforms.

"Have a good day at school you two!"

Their father said, waving them goodbye.

"Bye dad!"

Both siblings said simultaneously.

Their car drove off and both siblings walked the rest of the way into the school gates.

"Aren't you just excited! We get to meet new people!" Komaru beamed.

"Yeah, I guess." Makoto replied, a little less enthusiastic.

"What, you nervous?"

"A little. But I'm sure It'll be fine."

Komaru smiled cheerfully.

"I think so too."

Makoto entered his classroom just in time before the bell rang, at least he hopes it's his classroom. It'd be embarrassing if he entered the wrong room by accident.

He finds an empty seat and proceeded to familiarize himself with his surroundings.

The classroom seemed like a pretty typical classroom and nothing seemed our of the ordinary.

The teacher started calling out names, checking for attendance.

But for some reason he starts to feel a strange sinking feeling in his chest.

Why was he feeling this way? He thought.

But it finally dawned on him. The last time he had entered a classroom was in Hope's Peak Academy. During that dreadful killing game.

Immediately, he stopped himself. There's no point in dwelling on the past. He's not there anymore, he doesn't-

"I said, can you come up here, Makoto Naegi." Said the teacher, a little impatient.

"U-uhm Present!" He said a little too loudly. That was definitely pretty embarrassing.

"Yes, I see that. May you please come up here and introduce yourself?"

"Oh, alright."

This was a terrible first impression. He silently chants to himself to be confident as he walks up to the front of the class.

"Alright class, meet our new transfer student. Please treat him nicely, and help him get oriented to this new school."

He directs his attention to Makoto. "Alright, begin by introducing yourself."

Makoto sees the entire class filled with students, and all their eyes were upon him.

"My name is Makoto Naegi. And I am a transfer student. And ummm...that's it."

The teacher gave him a look that told him he probably made his introduction too short.

"Is that all Makoto? Do you have any hobbies perhaps?"

"Uhhh...not really."

"Really? Nothing?"

Makoto gulped, he wasn't really anything special. And he knew it, but it was still embarrassing.

He shook his head at the question.

"Well then, class. Do you have any questions for Makoto?"

Please have no questions, please have no questions-

A hand raised up, much to Makoto's discomfort.

"I have a question."

"Y-yes?" Makoto replied, a little nervous at what may be asked.

"What is your quirk?"

All at once he could feel all eyes fall upon him. Even those that weren't really listening at first, he could feel all those looks stare into him intently, eager for his answer.

Crap. He hadn't thought of that. He knew he didn't have a quirk. And from what research he had done, quirkless people are looked down on. He wouldn't be able to handle all the stress that may come his way from potential bullies...

"Makoto?" The teacher asked, noticing his reluctance to speak.

Maybe he should lie? He had to say something. Now. Anything he could think of-

"Are y-"

"Luck." Makoto exclaimed, a little too quickly.

"My quirk...is luck." He said again.

Out of the corner of his eye, a small flash of purple energy forms at the tip of his hand, then disappears just as quickly as it had appeared.

No one seemed to notice, so maybe it had been his imagination.

"Huh?" The teacher said.

All the students had similar confused looks.

That was terrible. He thought. What kind of stupid quirk is luck? He just said out loud the first thing that came to mind. He really is a terrible liar.

"Excuse me." A hand raised up again, this time a different person.

"What do you mean by 'luck'?" Said a boy with green hair. All eyes turned to him at the question and immediately the boy shrunk in on himself from the sudden attention. "I mean...If you don't mind me a-asking."

"W-well..." Makoto scratched the back of his head, it's a nervous tick of his.

"You see..." He's committed to this lie now. If anything, he should come up with something. And at least make it sound sound believable.

"I can conjure good luck, and it comes in any form...It's only for very minor things though. I can't all of a sudden use good luck to make my grades go higher or anything." He chuckled nervously.

The entire classroom, including the teacher, looked genuinely intrigued by his explanation, and his strange quirk.

"Good luck, huh? That sounds very interesting." The teacher added. "Well, is that all Makoto?"

He nodded in response, very eager to just sit down and forget this ever happened.

"Very well, go ahead and take a seat. Class is about to begin."

Makoto let out a sigh of relief as he sat in his chair. The lecture goes by quickly, Makoto only paying half attention. He just hoped no one would remember what he said during his introduction.

Lunch time comes around. The cafeteria seems a little crowded. Maybe he should sit with his sister, he thought.

"Hey Makoto!"

He looks to the person who called him. They seem to be a group of students from his class eating together.

"Come sit with us. There's room for one more."

He accepted the request and sat with them.

"Makoto, right?"

"Yeah, that's my name."

"Awesome, we were just talking about-.-.-.-.-.

As quickly as it started, the school day ended. Makoto and Komaru regroup at the front of the school.

"How was your day, Makoto?"

"Pretty good. Made some new friends at lunch."

"Really? that's awesome!"

"How about you?" He asked her.

"It was pretty great too. I found this group of friends that I think I'll really enjoy hanging out with."

And the two happily chatted away as they walked their way back home.

This one was very fun to write! Sorry for the long author's note last chapter. Feel free to leave a review if you enjoyed. Ya don't have to, but it'd be nice! Spelling checks are also appreciated.

This chapter was a little boring but don't worry because next chapter...will be quite fun.

Have a good day!
