I don't own Home Alone

Kevin would be lying if he said that he had a good night's rest after last night's events. He didn't care of the fact that the supposed 'Wet Bandits' had caused a mayhem throughout their home, but his sister kept tossing and turning on her side of the bed that Kevin had to awaken her and console her that they were safe. As for the amount of clean-up that they had to do last night it had taken hours to clean the broken ornaments, micro-machines, the tar from the stairs in the basement and remove every single object so there wouldn't be any evidence from last night's events. Kevin hated the fact that him and his sister were about to meet their fate last night but a wave of he had felt relieved that those two bandits were behind bars and that was going to be the last that he would see of them.

Stretching in his parents' bed, Kevin slowly woke up and was welcomed by a lovely sight. Outside heavy flurries of snow was falling and if that wasn't enough to indicate that it was Christmas Day, Kevin didn't know what would. He suddenly recalled the moment where he had met Santa and expressed his wish to have his family back by Christmas and since a lot of miracles had happened during the past days when he was home alone, he couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement rushing through his veins. Throwing the covers off him, Kevin rushed downstairs to see if his wish had come true.

"Mom!" he called out, not even bothering with the fact that his sister was in deep sleep. Why should she be sleeping in on such an important day anyway? It was Christmas! A day worth celebrating.

However, Kevin was met with an empty room the moment that he reached the living room. He scanned the area but his mother, father, siblings, aunt, uncle, and cousins were nowhere to be found. No one. Just a Christmas tree, stockings, and an empty plate that had a couple of cookies and an empty glass of milk. Kevin frowned when he saw that on the table. Just who had walked into the house and eaten that plate of cookies and milk?

Becky was the one thought that crossed Kevin's mind. The one culprit that he could think of at the moment.

Dismayed the young boy went back upstairs into his parent's bedroom where he snuggled into the warm blankets once more. Even though they were just blankets, Kevin felt that he was wrapped inside a hug, almost like a feeling of protection that let him know of his parents' presence even though they were not physically there. How much he had missed them during these past two days. Others would think that two days were quick, but to Kevin it felt like an eternity. He didn't even know that he would ever see his family again after the events of last night! Something like that had to happen in order for Kevin to realize how important and precious his family was to him and how much they meant to him.

Crack.

Kevin gasped when he heard the door opening from downstairs.

"Kevin!" a familiar feminine voice yelled. "Becky!"

Mom! Kevin thought as he threw the cover off of him and rushed down the stairs. Once he got downstairs, he didn't see her. Had he imagined this whole thing all over again? Wait...he could feel a presence behind him and when he slowly turned, he was met by a red haired woman.

Kate couldn't express how ecstatic she was the moment that she saw her youngest child well. All of the exhaustion that she had suffered from the trip and offering to trade her belongings with strangers in order to get on an airplane meant nothing to her! Her child was alright and well and that's all that mattered to her. As for Becky, even though her second oldest had her moments, Kate knew that she was old enough to take care of herself and of her younger siblings but it wasn't fair that they had left them home alone.

"Merry Christmas sweetheart," Kate smiled as she looked at Kevin. Knowing her youngest, she knew how important this holiday was to him to be with his family around the Christmas tree, but intuitively she could feel that Kevin was disappointed in her, and he had every reason to feel that way. How could have she forgotten leaving both her children alone and not bothering to double-check again? Slowly approaching him, as if Kevin had conjured an invisible barrier around him, Kate said, "oh Kevin I am so sorry."

Now an apology did not matter so much to Kevin. He only stared at his mother for so long of the fact that she was actually real and not just a dream. He had been upset with his mother before, but now that she was here, everything that had happened before that led up until this moment was the one thing that Kevin had wanted as his Christmas wish...and it had come true. A smile came over his lips as he ran over to his mother and wrapped his arms around her. He felt the softness of her light brown coat, the softness of her hair, and the signature perfume that she always wore, and the gentle kissed that she gave him. Yes...this was real life and not a fantasy.

"Kevin?" a voice suddenly came from the top of the stairs.

Kevin and Kate broke apart as they looked up and saw a sleepy Becky holding onto the railing for support as she rubbed her eyes. The teenager looked exhausted and her red hair was a disheveled mess, an indication that she had gone through a restless sleep. "I thought I heard a..." she paused and her eyes widened when she noticed her mother at the bottom of the stairs. "Mom!" she exclaimed as she ran down the stairs and jumped towards her mother.

Kate laughed with joy as she wrapped her arms around her daughter. The way she acted reminded her of the days when Becky was little and she was always run towards her or Peter and sometimes her brothers, with the exclusion of Buzz who was not very keen on hugging his sister. "I missed you so much!" Kate heard her daughter's muffled words which caused the woman to smile. She had missed her children too and she was glad that she had finally had the chance to be reunited with them on Christmas. It wasn't long until she felt Kevin joining into the hug and the three of them stood there with one another for a couple of long seconds.

"Where is everybody else?" Kevin suddenly spoke up. He was glad that part of his wish had come true, but what about the other one?

"Yeah," Becky spoke as she looked over to her mother, "did they not come with you?"

Now trying to explain her whole...adventure, was what Kate could only come up with, was a story within itself. She was determined to get back home but she couldn't put her family through the long exhaustive hours on an airplane. It was difficult being mother and there had to be sacrifices that she had to do but all of those sacrifices had been worth it in the end. Looking at both of her children Kate shook her head. "They wanted to come but-"

Crack.

The door opened once again and inside walked in Peter, Buzz, Linnie, Megan, and Jeff. Kevin looked at them as if he had seen a miracle happen right before his eyes, which in fact it was...and a loud one at that. Becky couldn't help but smile brightly when she also noticed her father and siblings walking into their home. She hugged her father and brothers but not before she heard her name being called.

"Becky!" Linnie and Megan yelled in unison as they spotted their sister before them.

What a morning this was! Becky was overjoyed to see her siblings that she enveloped both of her sisters in a hug. "I missed you guys!" she exclaimed as she held her sisters close to her.

"Can't...breathe!" Megan gasped, pretending that she was choking from the tight hugging.

"Too bad!" Becky joked as she squeezed her sister's even more. "Never leave without us again!"

Linnie couldn't help but chuckle at her sister's words. "We did not!" she said and gave Becky a bump with her hip before her face grew with concern. "But how are you and Kevin? I couldn't believe that you guys were here all by yourself."

Becky didn't know how to answer that question. The only events that came into her mind were the ones of last night where it had left her in such a terrified stated of mind.

"Yeah," Megan suddenly spoke up as she carefully eyed her older sister, "you look exhausted. I have never seen those bags under your eyes before," she said as she pointed over to the dark circles. "You only get those when studying and we're on holiday vacation."

"Well," Becky said as she tried to come up with a little white lie on the spot, "it's difficult looking over this little squirt every hour of the day." Chuckling she ruffled Kevin's hair who had just made his way over to his sisters.

"Hey," Kevin said and moved away from Becky's hand before she messed with his hair even more.

Megan smiled down to her little brother. During the time when they were in Paris, she had been extremely worried about him. She had called his little and helpless numerous times but seeing how the house was in one-piece and that Kevin was alright, he was quite the mature kid for his age. "Good to know that you're alright little brother," she said as she gave him a pat on the shoulder.

"Thanks Megan," Kevin smiled and before he knew it, he hugged his sister.

As for Kate, this was a moment that she was never going to forget. The family here, all together and giving their love to one another. She knew how exhausted everyone was from their trip but perhaps they could enjoy a little Christmas dinner in the late afternoon. There was no reason to travel far away to celebrate. It was better to do it at home with family and enjoy the time with one another and create memories. "Alright everyone," Kate suddenly spoke up, "I would rather we have a nice Christmas once everyone is rested. Unpack your things and get some rest."

The rest of the family complied as they took their luggage and headed upstairs, leaving only Kevin and Becky alone. "Well," Becky said with a smile as she looked down at Kevin, "that was definitely something I wasn't expecting today."

"I did," Kevin replied before he looked back at the empty plate of cookies and the glass of milk that was on the table. Looks like miracles really did happen.

"Rockin' around the Christmas tree
At the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Every couple tries to stop"

The radio blared in the small apartment and Amy couldn't take another second of it. After being ambushed last night by these supposed policemen she had not been able to go back to sleep. Now they two of them had made themselves comfortable in the living room and they watched her like a hawk as if she was going to do anything to them. Amy knew that she was at a disadvantage with these two men. She had no money to offer and no weapon to protect herself, but what did they want with Harry? Who were these two men that Amy had never seen before?

"You got quite a lovely little nest here," the older of the men said as he walked around and looked at the small amount of Christmas ornaments that she had placed around her house. It was something that Harry took no appreciation in but Amy liked it. "For God sake's Ray turn that music down!" he then yelled over to his comrade who was fiddling with the radio.

"What?" Ray yelled from the kitchen before getting up and sticking his head out from the side of the room, "what did you say Robert?"

"Turn. It. Down!" Robert yelled back and the volume receded to a reasonable sound.

Amy sighed as she leaned forward and placed her hands on her head. What a holiday it had turned out to be for her. Instead of just enjoying what she had, it had to be ruined by this whole situation that she had discovered last night. How had she been so blind that she didn't see that her husband was stealing from houses as opposed to making an honest living like everyone else? How long had this been going on? What other secrets was it that he was keeping from her? And what about Marv? Sure, Amy was aware that he wasn't quite the bright man but he had been as sneaky as Harry to not give Amy any suspicion about their whereabouts.

"Penny for your thoughts Mrs. Lime?" Robert asked as he took a seat across from her and looked at her square in the eyes. "You have been very quiet these past few hours...especially for someone in your position."

Amy turned her attention to Robert. "I don't care for your consideration," Amy said, trying to keep her emotions at bay as she felt the urge to slap that smile off Robert's face. "You have the nerve to waltz in here, posing as police, and threaten me!"

"Hey, hey, hey, hey!" Ray yelled from the kitchen as he stood up on his feet and towered over Amy. "You do not get to speak to us that way! Not after what that crook of a husband did to us you understand?"

Amy formed her hands into fists to keep them from shaking. These men had such different tempers. Ray was too volatile while Robert was calm and she didn't know who was the most dangerous out of the two of them. "Whatever is it that my husband did to you?" she asked as she looked at Ray straight into those icy cold blue eyes.

"Now that," Robert spoke up as Amy turned her head and looked at him, "is something that only Harry knows. The last time I saw of him in New York he didn't have a wife."

"Then why bring me into this if it's something that happened between you three?" Amy asked. "I don't even know who you are!"

Ray condescendingly laughed as he flopped on the couch next to Amy. "You really don't, don't you?" he asked her and she shook her head. "Well that's too bad sweetheart, because we know everything about you."

"Ray," Robert sternly caught his partner's attention before he continued on. Shaking his head, he grabbed the remote control and turned on the television that was before them. "Why don't we see the news? Check up on Harry's current state of well being, hm?" he asked her as a smirk lingered upon his lips.

Amy slowly turned her eyes as she saw the end of a commercial about women's hair products before the next segment of the Chicago news came on. She watched as the current news anchor came upon the screen and announced the current events.

"Just last night, Chicago police arrested two men who claim to be quote the Wet Bandits. In the past two days before Christmas they had been stealing from various homes in Winnetka and leaving their mark by flooding houses. The number of homes that were affected by the floods were a total of three before the burglars were caught under suspicious circumstances. They were found in an unconscious state by the police and both had suffered a series of injuries during their raid."

Two mug shots of both Harry and Marv appeared on the screen and Amy immediately averted her eyes at the condition that she saw them in. She couldn't stomach the idea that she had been housing two people who were now infamous of their crimes, but also of the injuries that they had gone through. "Dear God..." she whispered to herself and placed a hand on her stomach that was making her feel uneasy. "Shut it off."

"No way," Ray smirked as he looked at the screen, "that idiot got what was coming to him...and he will get even more, eh Rob?" he winked at his partner before looking over at Amy and smirking and her discomfort.

"The two criminals have been transported to Cook County Jail where they will face jail time for their heists. Now the morning weather."

Robert clicked off the television and put the remote control on the table. "Well, there you have it," he said and tapped his fingers against the arm of the couch before giving Ray a glare.

How much was he going to blab to Amy? Robert could tell that Amy was a smart woman but how smart enough was she to pull off an escape? Even though he had only physically met her a couple of hours ago, he could tell that she was someone who was willing to do anything for her husband? After all, there were women that he had known who had broken off their marriage with men like Harry and never saw them again. Many years ago, when Harry had suddenly abandoned his relation with the group that Robert and Ray were a part of, and a suspicious amount of money had been stolen from them, these two men had been doing everything in their power to find him and now that Harry had been practically cornered, the two were going to do anything to get back the money that they deserved and their revenge.

Robert moved his gaze back to Amy and got up from his seat. "We will keep in touch with you Mrs. Lime," he said to her and motioned for Ray to follow him out the door, "and word of advice, don't even think about leaving."

"Got that sweetheart?" Ray added before Robert nudged him with his elbow.

"I am sure Mrs. Lime heard it loud and clear," the older man said before looking back at Amy. "Have a Merry Christmas." With those words, he closed the door behind them and left Amy alone in her apartment.

Once they were gone, Amy buried her face in her hands and let out a sigh before her emotions overwhelmed her. First she lost her unborn child and now she was going to lose husband.

Damn you, Harry! she screamed in her head before grabbing a photograph from the counter and hurling it across the room.
