I don't own Home Alone

Comfort.

That was one of the things that Megan McCallister felt the moment she squeezed her eyes and came back to her senses. She slowly opened her eyes and right in front of her was only her mother and father, and some devastatingly harsh lights. Megan placed a hand upon her forehead and was about to get up from the bed when she felt her father's hand gently resting upon her shoulder.

"You need to lie down sweetie," he whispered to his daughter as she allowed herself to lie down back on the bed.

Where am I? she wanted to ask but with a frown she immediately knew the answer to that question, especially when she had an IV tube snaking down her arm and into a bag. Her heart immediately began to palpitate against her chest and a headache began to form. I'm in the hospital she thought to herself, her throat feeling dry as she tried to swallow. But why wasn't she responding to anything? She couldn't even find the will within her to say anything to her parents.

Kate suddenly reached towards her daughter's hand and gently clutched it. It had been quite the horror for her to see her daughter collapsing onto the grass after she had scored the goal. That goal was enough to have caused a win, but at what cost? Did Megan really needed to go above and beyond to impress her teammates and her coach to get to this stage of harming her own health? And for what? A high school game that wouldn't even matter anymore after she graduated. However, the moment that Megan had opened her eyes it was like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders and Kate knew very well that she was never going to let her daughter do this to herself again.

Peter had been a bit worried about Megan when she announced during dinner that she wasn't hungry. He knew that if he was going to push his daughter to eat, he was going to get a response that he didn't like and he knew that teenagers had quite the unpredictable tempers. Still, he felt that he should have acted the moment he noticed that pale look upon his daughter's face during the game. She seemed as pale as a ghost and lethargic but she had given all of that force in making the goal, which was the turning point to it all. He watched as his daughter's eyes fluttered closed and she began to take long deep breaths.

"She needs to rest," Kate suddenly spoke up as she gently placed her hand upon Megan's forehead. She felt a little bit warm to the touch even though her vitals had come out fine. She turned her bright blue eyes towards her husband and looked at him as if she was communicating her thoughts just through that one look in her eyes. If Megan didn't understand the harm that she was putting herself in, Kate was going to have to make the decision herself and she was going to pull her daughter from the soccer team. She knew that it would be a devastating outcome to her daughter, but she was not going to stand her ground and watch her daughter overwork herself to death over this team.

Peter took a deep breath and ran a hand over his tired eyes. He knew very well of his wife's worries and yet, he knew how passionate Megan was about this team. "I think it's better that we all talk about this."

"Peter," Kate whispered, "there is nothing to talk about. Look at what this team has done to her."

It was not always the team's fault when one of their players came to this conclusion. It was also on the player themselves. Megan hadn't been taking care of herself like she should have. He understood that she had been very stressed and trained herself through these past couple of weeks but she didn't take the time to look after herself, nor her studies for that matter. "We need to make a better compromise at this," Peter said, keeping his calm and low as he looked at his wife.

"I don't want Megan to become upset after what she suffered through. I agree that a little pause from the game would do her better, but having her quit the team?" he gently shook his head. "Come on Kate, she worked hard to get to this point where she is. She needs to finish it."

Kate swallowed upon her husband's words. It would be nice to be backed up upon the decisions that she made for the better of her family, but Peter also had his own thoughts about this whole situation. "I am looking out for the best for my daughter," she replied to him.

Peter nodded his head. "So am I Katie."

Becky paced back and forth with her arms folded across her chest. Her eyes bore down onto the cold floors waiting room whilst her brothers and sister remained sitting down. Everything had been going great right until the moment that Megan had fainted.

"Would you stop walking back and forth? It's not gonna make time fly that way," Buzz suddenly spoke up. For the past couple of minutes he had been sitting in utter silence and the only noise that he heard were Becky's sneakers on the floor.

Becky stopped in her steps and whipped around facing her brother. "I have a lot of things in my head right now and I don't need your input!" she clenched her hands into fists as a scowl formed upon her face. She didn't know why she was feeling so angry. Could it be the fact that her article had been ruined by the outcome of the game? Surely she was not going to write that in the newspaper! Could it be that she was worried about her sister? Of course she was! Could it also be the fact that Linnie was dating one of her best friends and didn't say anything about it to her? God! Becky wanted to scream but kept herself in control.

Linnie's knee kept shaking up and down as she nervously waited to hear of her sister's whereabouts. The last thing that the family needed was drama in the hospital waiting room. "Would you stop?" she exclaimed as she looked from her brother and over to her sister, "this is not the time and place for this. Look, Megan is in there and we need to keep her in out thoughts."

"She only fainted," Becky shot back to Linnie, "she didn't die." Or were you too busy making out with Lucas to even notice? she wanted to ask but knew better to keep her mouth shut about it. Linnie was right about one thing, and that was that they needed to cease these silly arguments until Megan was discharged.

Linnie frowned upon Becky's use of words. "That was unnecessary," Linnie said and kept her eyes straight towards Becky. She noticed the redhead turning around and wanting to say something to her. "What?" she asked as she got up from her chair and looked at Becky. "Do you have something to say, finally? You haven't spoken to me since dinner!"

The only siblings who made no noise through this whole situation were Jeff and Kevin. Jeff was preoccupied thinking of his sister's well being whilst Kevin tried to entertain himself to make time go by faster. He was indeed worried about his sister but he knew that there was nothing that he could do to heal her. Things like this were left in the hands of professionals and Kevin was no doctor. Though he found it very interesting how there were people who helped others in time of need when it came to dealing with their injuries or even life threatening situations. It even made him think of the injuries that the 'Wet Bandits' had endured during Christmas Eve. Would doctors do their job like they would for patients who were not criminals? That was something that Kevin didn't think about any further, though there had to be something there that made doctors do that otherwise what was the point of having such a title.

He peeked over at his brother Jeff who continued to have that worried look upon his eyes and seeing how his other siblings were too occupied in fighting with one another, Kevin thought that this would be a great opportunity to escape for a while. He noticed that there was a little gift shop and Megan deserved a little 'get well' gift. "Jeff?" Kevin said as his brother suddenly turned his attention to him. "I think we should get something for Megan, and get away from all of this."

Jeff turned his eyes and looked over at the the quarreling group. He couldn't take it anymore! "Good idea Kev." Without giving it a second thought, he got up from his seat and headed out of the waiting room with his little brother. The moment that the two brothers stepped out of the waiting room, there was nothing but peace and quiet that surrounded them.

Finally Jeff thought as he followed his brother down the hallway and into the gift store. He didn't know that he had so much patience to endure that quarreling. Though his only hope was that his siblings didn't go after one another's throats. There was just so much tension in that room and why was it always Buzz who started fights anyway? He understood why his siblings would be on edge but it was completely unnecessary.

"So," Jeff suddenly said as he took a deep breath and looked at Kevin, "what do you think we should get her?"

There wasn't much to select from this small gift shop. There were a couple of snacks and some teddy bears that had a heart stitched onto their hands with the words 'Get Well Soon.' It wasn't much but it was at least something that they could do. "I like this one," Kevin said as he took a hold of the bear and held it over to Jeff.

Jeff took the bear in his hands and frowned at it. This is so cheesy he thought. What a clichéd way to tell someone to get better, but it wasn't like they had any other choice. He turned the bear around and looked at the price tag. Fifteen bucks are you kidding me? This bear was more expensive than his allowance plus the job that he worked. Unbelievable he thought with a shake of his head before he reached into his pockets and pulled out cash.

"Are you sure?" Kevin asked him.

"It's not like you work," Jeff said to him.

"But I do get an allowance," Kevin replied. He had made extra sure that he did the chores that he was told. After the events of last Christmas, he wanted to make up for his behavior as much as he could. It had been hard, especially when Buzz would get on his nerves, but it had been rewarding. He reached into his pocket as well and pulled out the money that he had, "it's not much, but I want to help too."

When did his little brother show such responsibility? Oh yes, when he was left to take care of the house by himself. "Alright," Jeff said as he took some of Kevin's cash and half of his own to make up the proper price for the bear. He walked over to the cashier and paid for the bear. There goes my fifteen bucks the teen thought as he watched the cash disappear into the cash register. However, it would be alright. He could always make up that money again in the long run.

A gun. Where the hell am I going to get a goddamn gun? Amy Lime thought to herself as she stared back at the letter that Harry had written to her from jail. She didn't have enough money to buy a gun, let alone the proper credentials that gave her the right to own one. Unless, Harry had kept a gun hidden somewhere around the apartment. At this point, she didn't know what else to except from him?

The doorknob suddenly turned as Amy's eyes widened. There were only two people who would come to her home during this time and she hated it. She quickly took Harry's letter in her hands and hid it inside the drawer of her room. Her only hope was that they wouldn't go through her drawers even though she had done her best to make sure that the didn't expect anything suspicious from her. The door didn't open and that's when Amy realized that she had locked it. She tightly shut her eyes and cursed herself from doing so. She was instructed not to lock her door and she had done so!

She quickly ran towards the door and unlocked it and took a step back until she saw both Robert and Ray walking inside. "Thought you could keep us out?" Ray asked her with a cold glare upon his eyes.

Amy clutched tightly onto her night robe. "N-No," she said with a shake of her head, "just a bad habit of mine to lock the door."

"Well don't do it again," Ray said as he held his index finger in front of her eyes. The temptation to bite it until it bled was high to Amy but she kept herself a safe distance away from him and only have him a nod of her head in response.

"Is there...anything I could do for you gentlemen?" Amy asked, trying to play the clueless yet gracious host towards her captors. "Something to eat or drink?" Stop talking! Don't give them satisfaction to stay here!

"Oh no, no," Robert cordially replied as he held a hand in the air and shook his head, "we just ate Mrs. Lime. Thank you for your offer. I am sure that you have made a delicious dinner...for one."

Of course, stand here and mock me why don't you? Amy thought. Speaking of dinner, Amy didn't have the desire to eat anything ever since Harry's incarceration. She had felt herself growing rather weak and the bones of her cheeks were more protruded than they were before.

"Unless you haven't eaten," Robert said as he walked towards her, causing Amy to take a step back. He held out his hand and gently rested it upon the woman's cheek. His hand was warm against her skin but Amy made no reaction to it. She felt frozen in place and felt that she didn't have the ability to even move. "Yes," Robert said with a nod of his head, "you need to take care of yourself Mrs. Lime."

Ray snorted behind Robert when he heard such a comment. It was quite a comical sight to the man on how Robert was acting towards Amy. It was just in his nature to be a gentleman, but he wasn't that much of a gentlemen when it came to carrying out the deed that included wiping away the enemy. "You gotta be kidding me," Ray said as he looked up at the ceiling and plopped down into one of the couches.

Amy shut her eyes in disappointment. Of course, go on and make yourself comfortable. Don't stop on my accord she thought as she glanced over to Ray. However, something caught her eye. There seemed to be an object protruding from his shirt, almost like the hand grip of a gun.

A gun Amy thought as Harry's words from that letter came into her mind. There was no need to go out and buy one with the money that she didn't have. She could try and get it from Ray, even though he might probably look through her deceptive ways. However, it was the only plan that Amy had and she just had to deal with the consequences if it didn't work.

"What're you staring at?" Ray asked, breaking her from her thoughts.

Amy lowered her eyes to the ground. She gathered up the courage to speak and turn into a woman that she knew she was going to hate until she achieved her goal. Slowly, a soft smile came upon her lips as she looked up at Ray through her dark eyelashes. "Nothing of course," she said as she then turned her attention over to Robert. She didn't know how much her coquetry was going to work, but it was worth a try.

Slowly she leaned herself forward, and slinked away like a cat from Robert. That look and smile still remained in her eyes as she looked from one man to another. "I am feeling a bit tired. I shall be heading to my room."

With those words, she didn't give them a chance to utter a word but slinked into her room. Feeling disgusted with herself, Amy took a deep breath to calm her nerves. She was not going to give up on Harry. No matter how much she was going to use her femininity to get to that gun.
