I don't own Home Alone
Enjoy!
Ex-husband! Kevin gaped upon that discovery. He wouldn't have seen this coming even if she had not confessed this. He felt a surge of adrenaline running through his veins as he made a quick dash towards the Talkboy and towards the door.
"Wait a second!" he heard Amy yell as she placed her hand by the door and pushed it shut. "Where are you going?" she asked him.
Kevin took a step back from her and held his backpack in front of him as a means of protection. "No…" he said with a shake of his head, "please don't hurt me."
"'Hurt you?'" Amy frowned at those words. "I would never do such a thing. You poor thing you're as white as a sheet. I didn't mean to scare you."
Kevin watched the look of concern that passed over her face and slowly, he realized that either this woman was being genuine, or she was just playing a façade. Whatever it may have been, Kevin knew that he had to be on guard with what he was going to say or any actions that she did. "It wasn't you. It's your…ex-husband," he confessed to her.
What? Amy thought as she titled her head to the side. She was about to ask what he meant by that but the Talkboy had given her the evidence that asking such a question would make her look naïve. So…her dear husband and his friend had stolen from this little boy's home and now they were chasing him in New York…which was also the place where she had decided to flee to. Well, they were both going to be in for a surprise when she showed up to greet them. Deep down, she knew that she couldn't let this little boy out of her sight, not when Harry and Marv were out in the streets, and especially in a place like New York.
"And he threatened to shoot me and my sister," she broke out of her thoughts when Kevin gave her this detail.
Amy clenched her teeth and shook her head. Damn you, Harry! she thought. She kept her thoughts and feelings to the side and turned her attention back to Kevin. "How can I help you?" she asked him. "I know you said that you wanted to find your sister first, but how can we do that when we don't know where she is?"
She had a point there. Contacting the police was out of the question and the only people that would know where his sister was were the bandits. Kevin snapped his fingers and looked over at Amy. "Them," he said to her, "they're the ones who took her and they're the ones that know where she is."
Amy blinked upon his epiphany. "Where are you going with this?" she asked him.
"Earlier this morning, me and my sister ran to Duncan's Toy Chest. When they got us, one of them said that they were going to rob all the money that is in there. And it's money for the Children's Hospital."
The only response that Amy could give was just a shake of her head. How dare they do something despicable like this? Especially to children? Children always held a special place in her heart, even though she hadn't been blessed with one. "And what are you planning on doing?"
"My aunt and uncle are renovating an apartment a couple of blocks from Duncan's," he cryptically said to her, "you can mess with a lot of things, but you can't mess with kids on Christmas."
Taking a taxicab when it was almost midnight had been quite the experience for Becky. Her only two choices were to get saved by Lucas and his father or be trapped in that basement. A shudder ran down her spine when she thought back of that dark room that reeked of an unpleasant odor. After a slight hesitation to get inside the taxicab, she gathered up her courage and told the driver the destination. At least the cab driver had turned out to be an old man who listened to a late-night jazz program on the radio and wasn't loquacious. The taxi then came to a stop by Duncan's store and after paying the driver, Becky jumped out into the cold air. She hated being so exposed, especially when the bandits were probably in close proximity but there was no other alternative. Come on Lucas, hurry up! Becky thought as she clung her coat tightly around her frame and paced back and forth.
Her eyes turned over to the animatronic dolls that were lively in the early hours of the day. Now they weren't moving and it looked as if they were watching her every move in silence. If this turns out to be a Child's Play scenario, I'm running like hell Becky thought. However, having that happening wouldn't be too bad of an idea if she could use it to her advantage. She could set one of those possessed dolls after the bandits and she would get the thrill of seeing them run for their lives. Yeah, that's right she felt her lips tilting into a smirk running for their lives and into a haunted house. As she was lost in her thoughts, she suddenly heard a noise coming her way and it scared her out of her skin. No way dude! No way! Who knew that thinking about Halloween movies during the eve of Christmas would cause her such fright. There was no point in being scared now. She had been alone in the streets of New York, only temporarily, and gotten on a cab by herself. I'm invincible, don't mess with me! The shadow was getting bigger and whatever they were carrying looked like a weapon. Please don't hurt me.
"Becky?" Kevin's voice questioned as he squinted at his sister.
"Kevin?!" Becky yelled as she saw him approaching her. He held onto a wooden board and an empty tin bucket and he was being followed by a woman. "Oh my God!" she yelled as she ran towards him and took her in her arms. "I'm so glad you're okay!"
Kevin hugged her in return and held her tightly. "How did you know I was going to be here?" he asked her.
"I didn't," Becky said to him, "I called Lucas and he's coming with his dad to pick us up here. It was the first place I thought of when I got away from those two idiots."
"Did they hurt you?" the woman suddenly asked as Becky looked over at her.
"Who are you?" Becky asked her.
Kevin looked over his shoulder and then at his sister. "This is Amy," he introduced her, "she agreed to help us out with the bandits."
"You know them?" Becky asked the woman.
"It's too long a story," Amy smiled over at the girl, "but I'm just glad that we found you safe. Your little brother was worried about you."
"Aww," Becky chuckled as she gave Kevin another hug, "but we made it out okay. Thank you so much for helping him out. But...wait a second, how is she going to help us out with the bandits? Are you planning something I don't know about?" she asked her brother.
"Remember what we did last year?" Kevin asked her, "I did the same thing this year."
"He turned your uncle's apartment into quite the funhouse," Amy added, "I almost slipped on that green slime on the floor." In her mind, she couldn't let this child do everything on his own, let alone hurt himself in the process so she had tried her best to help him out with what she could do. When they had finished setting up the house with the traps, she didn't know how effective they were going to be against Harry and Marv.
It was like a repeat of last year and a mischievous smile came upon Becky's lips. Even though the end of last year had been almost frightening, she still thanked Mr. Marley for coming in saving them, it was quite the delight to see those two get punished for choosing to rob their home. She only hoped that their aunt and uncle wouldn't get too angry after their apartment was destroyed. "And what are you doing with these things?" Becky then asked Kevin as she looked at the wooden board and the tin bucket.
"It's a little surprise for them, when they come running out the window," Kevin said to Becky. His eyes then turned over to the toy store's window but he didn't see neither Harry or Marv yet. "Amy," he then said as he looked over to the woman, "Becky and me will meet you on the roof and don't worry, we will be fine."
Kevin was quick to pick up on her hesitation, but this was part of the plan that they couldn't stall for. "Do be careful you two," she said to the siblings and quickly headed down the road and over to the apartment.
As she walked away, Becky turned her head and looked back at her brother. "You're lucky that you ran into her," she said to him.
"Now all we do is wait," Kevin said. Not wanting to waste any time, he set the tin bucket upside down on the sidewalk and the wooden board on top of it. As Kevin was busy with his work, Becky looked up and noticed a figure walking past on the other side of the street. The figure was far enough for her to make out those facial features and they were hidden well enough to remain a mystery. Whomever that person was, Becky hoped he didn't see them and what they were planning on doing.
