2 Years later

Amity sluggishly opened her eyes, waking up slowly, she sits up and pulls off the bedsheets, exposing herself to the cold morning air. She got herself ready for the day, today was an anniversary at least for her, today was the day that luz left, or disappeared, but at this point it didn't matter, luz left the isles... left her. Amity wiped the dampness from her eyes before tears could break through and continued getting ready for the day. She opened her door to leave but she stopped and gave herself a final look in the mirror, she rubbed her sleeve on the Emperors crest in the middle of her cowl, seeing the shine on the metal she shut her door and left her house.

She closed the Manor door and looked at the sun just coming over the horizon, thankful that her work hours meant her siblings couldn't pester her in the morning. Amity decides to walk to the coven building in Bonesborough today, she'll be a little later than usual but it'll still be a good half hour before everyone else. Amity's mind wanders on her walk to town, her acceptance into the Emperors coven a year ago, and her rise through the ranks partly due to her parents influence and because of her previous training with Lilith, even though Lilith's on the run now. Boscha was in the coven as well, Boscha was also her 'Girlfriend' but it was an arranged relationship between Amity's and Boscha's family, though Boscha seems more intent on making it fact than Amity is.

Amity thinks on her relationship with the pink haired girl, she didn't see Boscha that way but i guess it did help in other ways. Boscha has become nicer, she stopped bullying people and even became friends with willow after some encouragement from Amity. Even though the relationship has been helpful in someway Amity can't help but feel wrong when referring to Boscha as anything but a friend, even though it's been a year, Amity can't seem to get a certain human out of her head.

Bonesborough Coven

6:00AM

Speaking of the pink haired girl, Boscha sat on the stairs of the coven building. She gave a Coven guard a sneer before noticing Amity causing her to smile a little. "Your here early?" Amity asks while walking up the stairs, Boscha getting up to follow "Early? Please, this is late for you blight." Boscha responds sarcastically, Amity chuckles at that. "Yeah, felt like walking today. Since you were already here, got an idea on any major cases today?" Amity asks while navigating the inside of the building with the smell of bean blood in the air.

They both stopped at a desk, Boscha grabs a file of it and shows Amity. "Yeah, last night a Coven ship docked at a public dock and the crew was absent with blood present in the cabin. The cargo hasn't been searched yet and the town guard is awaiting our approval on this since it's our ship." Amity sighed 'Guess we're not having a slow day today' she looks at the finer details in the file before turning to Boscha "Alright, lets go, maybe it isn't a serial killer."

Amity waited by the door as Boscha tightens a sword sheath around her waist and slings a crossbow over her shoulder "You really think your gonna need that?" Boscha nods as she puts some bolts in a holster "Yeah, this looks promising, this might be the case where we finally get someone and I don't imagine you'll be stopping a fugitive with your good looks." Amity rolls her eyes with a small blush and summons her staff, a white and gold metal staff with a sphere of abomination goo at the top, and a blob of abomination goo floats in front of her before receding into the staff again. Boscha looks at the staff then back at Amity "Or you could use that." Boscha finished arming herself and hit her fist into her palm "Alright, lets go beat someone up!" Amity rolled her eyes again before leaving for the docks with Boscha in tow.

Bonesborough Docks

6:20 AM

The girls arrived at the docks, Amity approached a town guard showing him her coven badge "Emperor's coven, I'm Amity and that's Boscha." Amity pointed with her thumb behind her, the guard nodded and lifted some tape that surrounded the scene, allowing Amity and Boscha to pass under it. The guard went under the tape and began to walk and the girls followed "I'm Sergeant Reynolds, we got called here when the workers found blood on a coven ship, we know you coven types like us to not interfere so we're waiting for your go ahead." Amity nodded and looked at the docks and the town guards unloading the crates from the ship. "So, you haven't opened any of the crates?" Reynolds shook his head "No ma'am, we pulled 'em out cause they're evidence but what's inside is your area. They are labeled as water or provisions, normal ship stuff." Amity walked by some crates seeing the labels, confirming what the Sergeant said, they all had labels with water or food.

The Sergeant stopped at a large rectangular object, covered with a sheet, "This, however, eludes us of its purpose." Reynolds pulled off the sheet and revealed a metal cage underneath. Amity wondered what its purpose was, usually the brig's on ships were attached to the ship not like this one, she wondered what this ships purpose was. Amity looked to the guard "Alright, that should be all, if I need anything I'll find you." The Sergeant nodded "Also the foreman who spotted the ship is over there." Amity looked over and saw a man in sailors attire about mid 60s with graying hair. she looked back at the Sergeant and nodded "Thank you." The Sergeant nodded and left back to the barrier to keep any interested civilians away. Amity walked down the dock, towards the boat, with Boscha trailing behind her, "What do you think this ship was for?" Boscha asks while scanning over the ships file. "Probably capturing wild witches. Some fled the isles and went to some islands so this might have been a capture gone wrong." Boscha looked at Amity questioningly "Then why come back to the isles?"

Amity looked at the boat again "Yeah, why come back?" her gaze drifted to the rear of the vessel and a faded set of numbers caught her eye 'A7-46B' "How much do we know about this boat?" Boscha opened the file and scanned over the contents "Not much, they looked up the service number and didn't find anything, it doesn't have an official name and with no crew this is basically a ghost ship." Amity sighed "It's never easy is it?" she mumbled to herself "Alright, you do a once over of the ship, see if any of the guards missed something. I'm going to talk to the foreman." Boscha nodded and walked onto the ship while Amity walked back to the foreman who was flanked by two guards.

"Hello, my name is Amity Blight, I am with the Emperors coven and I just need to ask you a few questions." The foreman raised an eyebrow at Amity "You're a bit young to be working for the Emperor don't ya think?" Amity rolled her eyes at that, she'd been asked that so many times "Yes, I am the youngest coven member to ever join, not counting former coven leader Lilith." The foreman straightened up slightly "Alright, My name's Richard, my friends call me rich, and I'm the foreman at these here docks, the night shift anyways." Amity nodded and gestured to the ship "So this ship, it arrived last night and you didn't think to report it until this morning?" Richard nodded "Yeah, it usually takes a bit for a crew to get unloaded and everything and the boys usually deal with it so I stayed back waiting for the captain to come sign their ship in but no one came up, I checked the ship around the end of my shift and found that blood."

Amity nodded "You sure you didn't see anything out of the ordinary?" The Foreman shook his head "No, the only thing wrong was the lack of movement from the ship." Amity thought for a moment "So you saw no one come off the ship? None at all?" The Foreman shook his head again and Amity turned away from him to look at the crates spread out along the docks, a nearby crate had something along one of the edges and she walked closer to inspect it. "Is that blood?" the stain looked dry but the top of the crate looked loose and Amity grabbed the top and pulled off the top of the crate and she gasped as she saw what was inside. An Emperors guard was stuffed into the crate and had a line of blood coming from his head.

She pointed at some guards and started giving orders "You two help get him out of the crate and be careful he's wounded." the two guards nodded and helped to pull him out of the crate and someone laid out a blanket to lay him on. Amity watched as one of the guards held their fingers to his neck and nodded "He's alive but unconscious we should get him a healer." Amity nodded and turned to see Boscha coming off the ship and she started to jog seeing the commotion "Amity, what happened?" Amity shrugged "We found him in one of the crates, you should head to the station with one of these guards to get a healer." Boscha nodded and started to walk away but turned back to Amity "Hey, Stay safe alright?" Amity nodded "Always am." Boscha nodded as she ran off with a guard to find a healer.

Amity turned to the other guards "Alright get these other crates open, if there's any more guards I want them found and getting treatment." the guards nodded and started prying off the crates, the calm atmosphere of a seemingly simple case was gone now, a tense air hung over everyone at the docks. Amity turned to the Foreman as the guards worked on the crates and saw him pacing "You okay sir?" she asked and he jumped slightly before turning to her with a nervous smile "N- Yep, everything fine, totally fine." Amity raised an eyebrow at him "You sure? You seem nervous, if you know something about this, keeping it to yourself won't help anyone." He looked between Amity and the unconscious guard before sighing "Alright, I honestly don't know anything about the guard, I work with a crew that snags Coven goods and equipment to sell them later they don't hurt the guards though, unwanted attention and whatnot, I just mark the equipment as unregistered to keep you guys off their back."

Amity nodded and motioned for the guards next to him to cuff, they clicked the cuffs around his hands as he sighed once more "Anything else you know? Sharing info about a wounded guard will help get your sentence reduced." He thought for a moment before nodding "There was someone that came off the ship, they head off in that direction," He nodded his head down the war from the docks ", I'd guess they stayed in those warehouses, if they haven't moved all already, they are abandoned and no one risks going in there." Amity nodded "Thank you for your cooperation, I'll see if I can get your sentence reduced." Amity walked away from him as she get two other guards to follow and head to the buildings he gestured to."

Amity walked up to the building and the first thing she noticed was the boarded windows and the broken boards on the door. She motioned to the door and the guards went to either side and waited for her "Alright, we don't know if they are still in here but be careful, if they could take out a ship of guards we shouldn't underestimate them." the guards nodded and Amity opened the door, the door opened with a groan and Amity was hit with the smell of old and rotting wood, she opened the door all the way but couldn't see much the light from the doorway casted her shadow deep into the building and little light came from the boarded up windows.

She casted a light spell and held it in her hand as she walked into the building with the two guards behind her. Her steps echoed through the empty building as her eyes scanned the darkness for any sign of movement and her ears tried to make out any noise not made from her and the guards but came back with nothing. She stopped and held up a hand as she found three paths before her, she told a guard to go one way, the other went the second path and she went the third, down her path she found a staircase to the second floor and she began to walk up the steps, which creaked in protest, she eyed the halfway point of the stairs which turned to continue upwards. She stopped at the halfway and eyes the very top of the stairs and after a second she walked up the stairs and just before the final step she heard a noise from the room and she halted her movement, even her breath stopped as she got ready to cast a spell.

She quickly took the last step and looked around the second floor and found nothing except an Owl on the far end of the room who was perched on a window that had a broken board, it coo'd at her before flying off and she chuckled lightly at herself as the tension left her, she continued to search the floor and found a large hole in the middle of the room that went down into an unfinished room and nothing else of note caught Amity's eye. She kept scanning the room and as she walked around the hole she found something on the floor, a piece of paper, she picked it up and flipped it over and her heart stopped for a moment, a Light Glyph was written on it and all she could do was stare at it as memories of Luz came back to her.

Her thoughts were halted at the sound of the stairs groaning and she quickly turned around to see someone with their foot on the first step, they wore a cloak and Amity couldn't make out any of their features and she couldn't see much else because they jumped down the stairs and Amity quickly gave chase. Amity made it down the stairs as they ran towards door and they almost made it but a guard stopped them, the suspect dodged the guards grab but they ran into the unfinished room with Amity and the guard behind them and the other guard appeared on the other side of the room, they were trapped, Amity pointed at them "You are a suspect in an investigation, by the order of the Emperor, stop!" The suspect just turned around to look at Amity and chuckled, Amity could just make out the smirk and a faint glow from under the hood.

She looked to the guards "Apprehend them, now!" the guards nodded and they both ran at the suspect but the suspect jumped up and grabbed an exposed floorboard and the guards watched the suspect, not themselves, so they smacked into each other and fell to the ground with a groan from each, the suspect dropped down and looked at them before turning to Amity, she summoned some abomination goo and formed a gauntlet out of it as she got into a fighting stance. The suspect did so as well and Amity observed them, they both stood still until Amity ran at them throwing the first punch, the suspect dodged but didn't counter attack. Amity turned around and saw them just looking at her, Amity gasped when they looked up more and she could see under the hood more, where their left was supposed to be was an orb of light, like the light glyph...

The suspect took the moment of thought by Amity as an advantage and ran at her with their fist raised but Amity met it with her gauntlet but was surprised when she was pushed back from the force, 'what the hell?' she thought as she dodged another punch 'they're stronger than they look.' she countered with a punch of her own and the suspects head jerked back and Amity saw a few specks of blood fall to the ground, she looked at the suspect and they were reaching into their cloak as they chuckled.

Amity ran at them to stop them but just as she got to them she was blinded and she soon felt the sting of pain she was punched in the face and then in the gut, she fell to her knees holding her stomach as she coughed, as her vision came back, although blurry, she heard a dark laugh from the suspect and she felt her anger rise as she yelled with an uppercut from her gauntlet. She thought she hit the suspect but she looked and saw them holding her weapon in place as she struggled to move it, she quickly used some other abomination goo to form another gauntlet and throw another punch which was also caught and held. She stared the suspect in the face, as best as she could with the hood, but a second later the suspect pulled her fists down and headbutt her which knocked her down with a yelp.

Amity groaned on the ground as she felt blood flow out of her nose, she looked at the sound of footsteps and saw the suspect staring at her as she heard mumbles from them, 'Are they talking to me or themselves?' she thought as the figure shook their head and turned away and walked to the door of the building. Amity could see them run out the door as she heard a yell from outside and she just laid her head back down as her gauntlets deformed and went back into her bottle.

Amity held an ice pack to her head as she watched the Healers check on the wounded guards that were found in the crates, Boscha walked over to Amity and sat next to her, "They found four other guards in the crates, none were killed but they were wounded pretty bad." Amity nodded and sighed "That person we saw, it seemed like they couldn't care less." Boscha looked at her with confusion "What do you mean?" Amity shrugged "I'm not really sure, they either dodged or hit me with easy to block moves, they were either purposely holding back or they were just toying with me." Amity huffed in annoyance at her failure to apprehend the suspect but straightened up as an Emperors guard came over.

"You two Amity and Boscha?" He asked as he pointed at them, they nodded "The captain wants a report of what happened and they've got new info on the case, I'll take over from here and get these men to a Healing Center." Amity nodded and Boscha helped Amity stand and they both headed toward the Coven Station to give their report.

They both arrived a few minutes later and after Amity discarded the ice pack they headed to the Captains Office and found him outside talking to a group of Guards "Alright, I'll need your men to set up- Oh, Amity and Boscha, I'll be with you in a moment." They both nodded and went into his office and sat down in the chairs. He came in a minute later and smiled at them both as he sat in his chair, "Alright, I'll cut to the chase and say this, this case may be bigger than we thought if that wasn't already obvious." Boscha and Amity nodded and waited for him to continue "Knowing what we know, this person that attacked Miss Blight might be part of larger organization, if they acted alone I'd be surprised. There have been wild witch organizations all across the Isles but none of much importance here, so this might be the first attacks of many, if it is a group."

Boscha nodded then asked "What if it isn't a group?" The captain sighed "Then we don't have much to go on, but if this is one person then they are extremely powerful, sometimes it's harder to incapacitate then kill." Amity nodded and they sat in silence for a moment before she spoke up "When can we expect to see them again?" the captain sighed and slid forward some papers "You? Hopefully none, your both being reassigned t-" He was cut off as both shouted "What?!" at him with looks of surprise and a bit of anger "Why are we being reassigned?" Amity asked as she almost stood up but held back, the captain looked at the both "I don't know about the Emperor but I was hesitant to bring you both in, I'm not saying you couldn't handle the work we do, I'm saying you shouldn't, you both are what, sixteen? You should be at home, not out in the field chasing some crazed killer that only sees you as another faceless goon to slaughter."

Amity wanted to protest but the gaze he sent her way she eventually settled back in her chair but Boscha met his gaze "Is that why all we've been getting is chump work and guard duty?" The captain nodded "Yes, you shouldn't have to do this and by the time you do you'll experience to handle it properly. Now I won't argue with you on this, if you want work I can find some work for you, but you aren't chasing this case. You both can head home, no reason to stay here any longer." Boscha was about to say something but Amity put a hand on her arm and she looked at her, huffed, as stayed silent. They both stood up and left the office as Boscha grumbled to herself and Amity stayed quiet, when they descended the steps of the station she looked at Boscha "I guess I'll see you tomorrow Boscha." Boscha nodded "You too Amity, see you."

Amity walked to the Manor and she made it to the door and almost opened it before it opened itself, or rather Edric and Emira opened it. "Mittens!" They both shouted and she winced at their volume as she felt a headache appearing "Can you too be any quieter? My head hurts enough as is." She closed the door as they both smiled at her "But we're just wondering why your home so early, usually you're working till dark." Ed said and Em nodded, Amity just sighed as she rubbed her temple "I had a bad day, someone hit me in the head, Healers already checked me so don't worry." She tried to push past them but Emira grabbed her arm and she turned around to see her face with worry "Someone attacked you?"

Amity nodded and pulled her arm away "Yeah, I can't tell you guys anything because it involves the coven but don't worry, I was taken off the case anyways." Amity turned away and went up the stairs to her room, leaving Ed and Em there with looks of worry on their face.

Amity closed the door to her room and changed into something more comfortable, as she was putting up her coven uniform something fell off it, she picked it up and saw it was a Light glyph. She moved over to her desk and put it down as she looked at it, thinking. 'Who was that person? Why'd they have glyph magic? I thought Luz was the only one who used it?' Questions raced through her mind but she shook her head as she put it to the side. "Questions for another time.' she mumbled as she tried to find something to occupy the rest of her day.
