Chapter seven. Querys

"I'm glad to hear you're alright." Dundy talked on his phone. He stood in the room of a hotel, slightly injured but patched up.

"The arrival of a boss gave us all a scare. Judging by everyone's reactions, this is a first for the Cleansing," Poch reported through the phone.

"Bosses have only shown on the final purge of the month, so it startles me that one decided to show up there for an early cleansing."

"The next Cleansing isn't until another week and a half on the sixth of the next month."

"The purge isn't till the beginning of next month."

"Should we expect another early one?"

"I don't know to be honest. I'm going to stay here in the living world, I'm going over the data we found, besides opening a gate for me can mess up the data if I do it right now."

"Sure that's a good idea? Jared would have some trouble hiding you."

"It's fine. We managed to contact Albest."

"Albest is involved!? Then you definitely got nothing to worry about."

"No, I don't."

"...y'know I still think I should've gone, especially since I still live there."

"We told you, your portal making butt would've messed with the data."

"Is portal making butt gonna be a new title for me?"

"It could…..y'know Poch, since you live here, and with rising talk of the exterminator Corp making a new base in hell, you could very well move ba-"

"Dundy...I've already made my decision."

"I know but...your family…"

"I still see them every now and then."

"But they do not see you."

"...that's fine….like I've said… it's better they don't. They wouldn't accept me if they did see me."

"If this is about Celis I'm sure they-"

"They won't."

"Poch…"

"...anyways, stay safe Dundy. Contact you later." He hung up.

Dundy sighed. "When will he learn it's not his fault…."

Poch sighed as he put his phone away, standing on the roof of the building. "..." he thought about what Dundy said. "...they'd never let me back with them."

The elevator door opened and out came Blitzø. "There you are, Pochy!"

"Pochy?"

"Jack asked me to come get ya! He wants you in the meeting room, but," he got close to the hellhound, "I gotta ask...what's your intentions with my Loony?"

Poch rolled his eyes and smiled. "Nothing sleazy sir, I'm just her friend."

"Uh huh." He wasn't convinced. "You're a good hound, Poch and a helluva slayer, but don't think I entrust a cap in ya if you hurt her."

"Wouldn't dream of it."

"You better not or I'd cao your dreams too!" He lifted Poch up. "Now, dont keep the employee of the month waiting."

"Ri- wait! Why did he get employee of the month!? I took the boss!"

"I didn't see it happen, so it could've been lame."

"Bullshit…" Poch grumbled, going down the elevator.

Poch walked into the meeting room where Jack, Shelly, and Solis were.

"Poch! We have a serious problem!" Jack told him.

"What!? What's up!?" Poch gained a serious look.

"We...have to figure out where to celebrate tomorrow!"

Poch's expression changed to one of slight annoyance. "Seriously?"

"Hell yeah dude! Next cleansing ain't for a while and we took down a boss! We gotta celebrate!"

"Whoa whoa whoa, we? I soloed that thing."

"Yeah but you'd be screwed if we weren't there to handle the other angels."

"He's got a point," Solis admitted.

"Shut up," Poch said, "what places you have in mind?"

"Well those two," Jack motioned to Solis and Shelly, "wanna go to the amusement park, Lucifer world. I wanna go to a Dave and Buster's- like place, Renlo Wackers!"

"Wait, so aren't you outvoted?"

"No, they count as one cause they thought it together for a couple moment."

"That sounds like boosh."

"No, we did," Shelly admitted.

"Ugh. So I'm the tie breaker?"

"Yeppers!"

"No pressure." Solis smirked.

"Hm…how bout this. Since I did in the boss, alone, we go with whatever I pick, place included."

"Deal!" They all agreed.

"Good, cause I already picked a place."

Poch entered the break room where Loona, Millie, and Moxxie were target practicing. "Hellhound entering firing range." Poch warned.

"Holding fire." Moxxie pulled back his bow gun.

Poch approached Loona. "Hey Loona, ever heard of Jack and crack?"

"Uh, yeah I think so. Never been, why?" Loona answered.

"Me and the group are going there tomorrow. Celebrate taking down a boss."

"Oh yeah? Tell me what it's like when you get back."

"I could do that, or you could find out yourself when you come with me."

Loona looked up from her phone and gave Poch a quizzical stare. "What?"

"I'm allowed a plus one so I'm inviting you. Wanna come with?"

"You...you want me to come?"

"Yeah!"

"...why?"

"Do I need a reason to want to bring a friend?"

Loona froze for a second then slowly rose up, looking at Poch like he grew a second head. "What...what did you just call me?"

"A friend."

"A...friend?"

"Yeah, I mean we are friends right?"

"I..I uh.." Loona was at a loss for words.

"So wanna come?"

"...sure…"

"Sweet! I'll text you the place tonight. I gotta go call ahead and make some reservations, along with some other things." Poch opened his gate, "chat later?"

"Uh, yeah….definitely."

"See ya then!" He waved off.

Loona waved him off and didn't notice the smug looks both Millie and Moxxie gave her.

"Sounds like someones gonna spend more time with a certain brown hellhound again," Millie said.

"Gonna cuddle him again?" Moxxie teased.

"Huh?" Loona half responded, "uh, a-yeah… sure…" She looked at her phone again and looked at a recent pic on Poch's instagram. "...friend…."

Poch wore a brown hood and walked down the sidewalk of town. He was still in his hellhound form and was making sure his tail stayed tucked in the back of the hood, while making his snout not so easily visible. He turned the corner and found his destination, a gym called "Rick's right and lefts". He got to the front of it and looked through the window. Inside around the boxing ring set up in the middle of the large work out room, that had a section of punching bags, dumbbells, and your other typical muscle gaining exercise tools, was a crowd. They were cheering for one of the two fighters in the ring.

Poch looked for a good way to enter unnoticed and found a blind spot. He walked into the nearby alleyway and used his blue blade to make a gate that led into the corner of the room, where he snuck in.

"Cmon Ilas! Give her the deadly left!" Tom cheered. He was currently wearing a white gi.

The ones fighting in the ring were Ilas and some other girl with blond hair. They both wore a gray tank top. Ilas had on a blue pair of boxing gloves and a blue head piece while the girl she was fighting had the same thing but red. Ilas seemed to have the girl on the ropes, dodging most of her attacks while she made her block with all of hers. Ilas was dealing more blows with her swift right punches and jabs. She was smiling, enjoying herself, while the other girl was huffing, glaring at Ilas, trying to find an opening. The girl got her opening when Ilas' recent blows were slower. She huffed and slumped over and that's when the girl striked.

Poch smirked. "Bad move." He said to himself.

Ilas grinned and ducked under the punch. She reeled her left fist back, slid forward, and raised her fist up to her chin, sending a devastating uppercut to the girl, knocking her upwards. She fell back, bouncing a bit, lifted her head before falling back down and going limp. The referee came in and gave a countdown.

"No way she's getting up." Poch predicted.

The referee reached ten and raised up Ilas' fist. "Winner!"

The crowd cheered, some a little reluctant because they were going for the other. Tom got on stage and hugged Ilas before giving her a kiss.

The ref splashed water onto Ilas' face, waking her up. "Huh? What!?"

"Sorry Sherry, I win!" Ilas gloated.

Sherry growled before getting up. "That was a cheap move!"

"Didn't need to be expensive to work on you," Tom fired, gaining a reaction from Ilas that said "oh, burn!".

"Why you little-" Sherry stomped forward to Tom and swung at him.

Tom grabbed her arm, shifted to her side, sweeped his foot under hers to knock her off them, thrusted his palm down on her back to knock her down, placed his knee on her back, and twisted her arm in a hold. She cringed in pain. "Wanna say uncle for me?"

"Ow! Get off!" Her arm got twisted further. "Ah!"

"That wasn't an uncle. Let's try again." He tightened his grip, furthering her pain.

She gritted her teeth before tapping out. "Uncle! Uncle!"

Tom let go and got off her. "There we go. Now run along, before you hurt yourself again."

Sherry growled before stomping off.

Poch smiled. 'He's gotten better,' poch thought. He watched Tom and Ilas high five and talk a bit more as they got out of the ring. He wasn't able to make out all of what was said, only hearing bits and pieces of a match that Tom recently had, but he was ok with that. Seeing them doing well made him feel happy...and sad. It was a bittersweet feeling that he got used to. The two were leaving and Poch followed, making sure to stay out of sight.

He made a gate to the roof and hopped through, watching them from there. They talked about getting ice cream before heading home. As he watched them he noticed something being thrown at him from the side. He quickly dodged it and looked to see that the one who threw it was a buff, pale white man, wearing a sleeveless shirt, black casual pants and a silver necklace. His hair was straight, long, and black. It was Dundy in human form. Poch sighed and jumped down to meet him, grunting as he was still hurt from his battle.

"Hello," Dundy greeted.

"How'd you find me?" Poch asked.

"The device picked up a portal opening so I followed it here. Knew it was you."

"Sorry."

"It's fine. It didn't mess with the data or anything." Dundy looked over to see Tom and Ilas leaving. "Checking in on them I see."

"...yeah."

"...it's still not to-"

"Drop it, Dundy….I can't go back."

"..." Dundy let out a sigh. "Hm?" He noticed something when he looked back at the two.

"What?" Poch looked back as well and saw Sherry, with four big burly guys, look around the corner at Tom and Ilas before ushering the guys to follow her.

"I don't like the looks of that."

"Neither do I. I got a feeling I know what that bitch is about to do. Do me a favor?"

"Hm?"

"There's that bitch!" Sherry said, glaring at Ilas and Tom, who sat at the outside bar, eating ice cream. "Cmon!"

"Wait, aren't you worried about making a scene?" The first large dude, who wore a white t-shirt and a cap, asked.

"I dont give a fuck! They humiliated me!"

The dude shrugged. "Hey we getting paid for this so whatever, just wondering if you wanted to be discreet." He looked at the two and saw someone approach them. "Wait who's that?"

"Excuse me," Dundy came up to Tom and Ilas, "can I ask for directions? I'm quite lost."

"Some lost dude," the big guy in the black shirt said. "Let's just get him to move before he becomes colate-"

"Hey!" Poch called out to them, standing a few yards behind them. They all turned to see him. "What business you got with those two?"

"Pft," the white shirt guy snickers, "business that ain't yours."

"It's about to be mine if you don't lay off."

They gawked at him for a few seconds before snickering then laughing out loud. "You hear this midget?"

"AHAHAHA, "it's about to be my business?" Ahahahaha!" One in a red shirt mocked.

The one in the cap walked up to Poch before kneeling down. "What exactly are you gonna do, shrimp?"

Poch glared at him before bringing his hand out. He wrote Xțøæß in black letters.

"What's that? some magic trick?" The man laughed with his friends and Sherry.

"Taurus." The words went into his shadow and from it rose the shadow demon Taurus. As it came out from the darkness, their laughter slowed before stopping and turning into questions of what was rising.

The man took a step back. "W-what is that!? The fuck!?"

Poch brought Taurus's hand to the side of the guy's face. He flicked his head, whacking it to the wall. He slid down, unconscious. Poch glared at the rest of them, their knees now beginning to shake in fear. He walked forward, menacingly, Taurus following behind.

They took small steps back as he got closer and closer, before they all ran, some tripping before quickly getting back up to keep running, screaming. Sherry sat there, having fallen off her legs, trembling. Poch got up to her, got his snout in her face and said to her, "try that again…" Taurus huffed into her hair, "and saying uncle will be the last thing you gotta worry about. Understand?"

Sherry quickly nodded her head.

"Good. Now get the fuck out." Sherry wasted no time rushing out of there when Poch told her to. He sighed before dismissing Taurus.

Dundy walked up from behind. "I now know how to get to Meaty Mart."

"Cool."

"I'm guessing they won't try that again?"

"Nope...what ice cream they get?"

"Ilas got rainbow sherbert and Tom got double choco swirl."

"Heh. Same as always." Poch stretched. "Alright I'm heading home. See ya later dude." Poch opened the way to his place.

"See you friend." Dundy waved off, still feeling sad for him.

Poch flopped on his bed. He got out his phone and brought it forward, sending a text to Loona.

-Hey, just got home. Wyd.- He texted.

-see you then-

-alright ttyl!- he closed his phone before hopping out of bed, cringing slightly at the pain from his recent fight with the boss. "Ouch! Better take another pain med before sleep." He said to himself, going to the kitchen to make something for tonight.

Poch's bike was a standard type motorcycle with red and blue paint. The inner edges of the thick wheels had spikes, its hands were sharp only by looks, the pedals were hiked up for his height, and the headlights had a silver trim and had a sharp V shape. He drove up to the front door of Loona's place. He was currently wearing a short sleeved black shirt with the word "RAGING HOWLERS" on the chest in blood red and the font type being rock and roll. He also had on a pair of jean shorts. Loona and Blitzø were apparently waiting outside for him, and she was wearing what Poch asked her to wear.

"Alright, I'm out." Loona told Blitzø, leaving for the bike.

"Stay safe Loonie! Poch, make sure to bring her back by dinner!" Blitzø called out to which Loona rolled her eyes to.

"I can only promise to try!" Poch told her.

"Take care of my baby!"

"Ugh, Blitzø!" Loona groaned, getting on the bike.

"Hehe, sure thing boss!" Poch revved up the engine. "Hold on tight."

"Oh, r-right." She leaned on and wrapped her arms around his waist, slightly blushing. They rolled off and she looked back to see a waving Blitzø. She sighed. "Sorry about him."

"It's cool. He's just looking out for you."

"I wish he'd stop seeing like a kid."

"You may not be related but to him you're still his precious little girl. It's sweet. He's like a doting dad."

"Doting dad?"

"A dad who sees their kids, mostly daughters, as the precious thing in the world that needs to be protected."

"Yeah that sounds like him….what was your dad like?"

"My dad?"

"Yeah."

"..."

"If you don't wanna tell me-"

"No it's just...I hardly remember what he was like….we got….separated when I was young. That was before Tim's dad took me and Celis in….all I remember is that he was a good man."

"Man?"

"Y-yeah...man."

"He wasn't a hellhound?"

"It's...complicated."

"...ok. I don't want you ripping into me so I'll leave it at that."

"Hah. Yeah, especially not on a bike."

"Yeah, don't want that." She chucked.

Poch pulled into the parking lot of a two story building called Wild Drecks. He parked his bike and turned it off, getting off with Loona. "The others are already inside, they came early." The two went past the front door and met with the black spider demon at the front door. "Poch and Loona. We're with Jack."

The demon looked through his computer and saw their names. He reached back with his second arms and grabbed two play cards for them. "Have fun!" He smiled.

"Thanks." They went inside, going past the lobby. "Think we should find the others first?"

"Found them." She pointed.

"Huh?" She looked where her finger went and saw Jack and Solis by the hoops, with Shelly standing behind them. Jack wore a sleeveless blue shirt and khakis, Solis wore a red and black tank top that said rage in bold white letters on the back, and Shelly wore shorts and a green t-shirt with black hearts on the sleeve. Shelly turned and saw them, waving at them. "That was quick." They approached them. "Hey guys."

"Not now Pocho!" Jack shouted, "gotta school Solis!"

"More like get schooled," Solis smugly replied.

"Jack challenged Solis to this," Shelly told them.

"Oh yeah? Who's winning?" Poch asked.

"It's a best of five and Solis has two to Jack's zero."

"I can still catch up!" Jack said.

Loona looked at the score of the current set. "Yeah, I doubt that."

Solis tossed in the last ball and the booth buzzed out a winner. "Yeah!" Solis cheered.

"Fuck!" Jack lamented.

Solis embraced Shelly and she kissed his forehead. "Nice one babe!" She complimented.

"You got lucky!"

"If skill is luck, then yes, yes I did," Solis smirked.

"Coulda gave him some pity," Poch noted.

"No pity on the battlefield."

"Heh," he turned to Loona, "wanna try against me?"

"Eh, basketballs not my thing," Loona answered.

"Yeah you're right, I'd hate to embarrass you anyway."

Loona raised a brow. "Scuse me?"

"Hey I get it, you got height but that only helps in dunking, aiming is a whole other thing. It wouldn't look good to outplay ya in this so I'll just do it with jack."

"...pick a side."

"You're on!" Poch took the left while she took the right. They swiped the cards on the reader and started the game.

"Those two are getting along," Solis said.

"Yeah." Shelly placed her arms around his shoulders. She heard the crying of a baby and looked to her side to see a mother comforting her baby boy. "Awww, what a cute baby."

Solis looked where she did and smiled. "He is, isn't he...bet you can't wait for your own."

"No but," she sighed, "I gotta. Especially with...you know."

"I do," he held her hand, "but when we get that chance to start a family, I'll give you as many kids as you want."

Shelly looked at him lovingly while he stared back the same way, locking eyes. "Awww." She pecked his forehead. "...I want ten."

"Not that many! At Least not all at once!"

Shelly laughed. She heard the winning buzz from the basketballs and looked to see who won. It was Loona.

"Uh, I'm sorry," Loona turned to Poch, "what was that you said earlier about embarrassing me?"

Poch huffed. "Best two outta three!"

"If you say so." They both started it up again.

"Hey, I want redemption," Jack said to Solis, pointing to an air hockey table.

"Sure," Solis said, he called to Loona and Poch, "be back soon guys, gotta destroy Jack in air hockey."

"Oh it's on!" Jack, Shelly, and Solis left for the table, leaving the two to shoot hoops.

Poch was able to keep up but his next two shots missed, leaving him behind. Loona's aim wasn't perfect but it was good enough to keep her ahead especially with his misses. She got the last ball in and got the winning buzz. "Hah!" She gloated.

"Dang it!" Poch lamented.

"Now, remind me again about who's gonna get embarrassed."

"Alright alright, I'm the embarassed one….but you only won cause you're taller."

"Sounds like the whining of a sore loser." She smirked.

"Oh yeah? Let's see how you fare in a game where height don't matter."

"Oh yeah? What game is that?"

"Skeeball, and to make it better, whoever wins buys lunch for the other!"

"Oh, you're on!"

As time went on the two would play game after game, challenging each other or working with each other like they did in knocking down pins. Loona didn't think she'd have as much fun as she did. She enjoyed playing the games with him and all the times she beat him, not even minding the times he beat her.

They stopped to get food, sitting at a table. Poch got a corn dog with fries and Loona got a burger with chips. Loona paid.

"Thanks for lunch, Loona." Poch smirked.

"Shut up. You got lucky." Loona smirked back.

"If skill is luck, then yes, yes I am."

"I'm getting Solis to copyright you."

"Try it. I got fair use on my side."

Loona couldn't help but laugh at that.

Poch smiled and looked to his right at desk. He had just finished up his food so he thought it'd be best to get her something. "Hey, I'll be right back."

"Where ya going?"

"Secret." He walked off.

She shrugged and decided to check her phone for a bit while waiting. She noticed she got a notification for being tagged in an instant so she went to check it. It was Poch. He tagged her in a few photos of her and him. Some of it was about who beat who. She grinned, going through the posts. She stopped at one. It was them playing cups together, trying to get them all. It was captioned "power of friendship!" which was an obvious joke but it made her think about something that's been on her mind for a while. "...friends…" she said to herself.

"Back." Poch came from behind her.

She looked back and saw he was hiding something behind his back. "Whatcha got there?"

"Close your eyes."

"Huh?"

"Close them." He grinned.

She was hesitant but did so.

"Now hold your hands."

She held them out and felt something soft and fuzzy go into them. "What is that?"

"Open your eyes."

She opened them and saw that she was holding a big green death bear. It had sharp teeth, red angry eyes, was roaring, had big claws, and blood spatters. It was roaring. "What…"

"I got it from the prize area. It's a death bear!"

"Oh...cool." She gave a distorted smile.

Poch noticed it and his smile dropped. "Do you not like it?"

"Im… not really into plushies."

"Oh...I'm sorry. I just thought it'd be nice to get you something."

"Well...thanks anyway. I'll just...give it Blitzø, he likes those better." She put it beside her, returning to her food to finish it up.

Poch looked disappointed, mostly at himself. He assumed she'd enjoy it but seeing her look uninterested made him feel like he failed. He wanted to rectify that. He grabbed his blue dagger. "I'll be right back."

"Where are you-" he jumped through," and he's gone." She sat there, taking glances at the doll he gave her. "...Blitzø even like bears?"

It wasn't long till Poch reappeared through his portal. "Loona?"

"Yeah?"

"Where does boss keep the book?"

"He left it in his office this time. Why?"

"Meet me over there." He pointed to a hallway near the prize center. He took out his red dagger and opened a gate with it.

"Ok?" She had questions, but he left before they could be answered. She got up, threw away her trash and went for the spot, taking the plushy with her. She waited for a few seconds before Poch appeared through one of his gates, holding the grimoire. "What are you doing?"

"Hold on." He was reading through it. "Ok…" He attempted to make a gate with the book. He did it and felt proud of himself for it. "Sweet!" He took hold of her hand. "Close your eyes."

"Again?"

"Trust me."

"...fine." She closed her eyes shut. He pulled her in. Her feet felt grass but it was fake, and felt like she was being taken down a hill. "Where are we?"

"You'll see." He pulled her down a little. "Sit down."

She raised a brow but did so, sitting on the fake ground. She heard his footsteps move away from her, going the opposite direction.

"Ok look up and open your eyes."

She did so and saw that she was inside a big metal dome. It was dark so her night vision kicked in. The roof had some sort of ring around its edge and there looked to be a screen covering the center which had a painting of the night sky. "What am I-" Before she could finish her sentence, Poch flipped a switch. The ring lit up in a nightly blue and the night sky background came to life, looking like a real night sky. From the edges came a spark that flew to the middle before making a small colorful sparkly explosion that spread out like some flower. It was like a mini firework. Loona's eyes widened in awe.

Poch sat next to her. "Wanted to make up for a bad first gift."

"What is this?" She asked, marveling as more fireworks were shot.

"...something my brother and I made a long time ago….I don't come here much nowadays so I had to check to make sure there were still some fireworks left...like it?"

"It's...amazing…" She watched as fireworks of different colors came across the fake night sky, some exploding differently. Her phone dinged, slightly snapping her out of it. She looked to see it was a notification from her instagram about being tagged. She checked and saw it was Poch posting a pic of her stargazing. It said "showing a friend something neat. I think she likes it."

"Heh," he saw her see the post, "it looked like a good opportunity."

"..."

Her lack of response made him think she didn't want that. "S-sorry, I'll take it-"

"What makes us friends?"

"Huh?"

"What makes us friends?"

"...well," Poch looked up, "for starters, we both got an interest in JoJo, granted I got you into it, but still, and seeing how much we talk and how often you've visited, I'd say that classifies as friendship." He laid back. "Plus...I like hanging out with you. You're not afraid to speak your mind, you're sassy, and you may not show it, but I know you care about the others at I.M.P…. I like that….why do you ask?"

"Well...it's just that…"

"Don't wanna be friends with me?"

"What?"

"I get it. I'm a lame choice."

"No no it's not that! You're not lame!"

Poch chuckled. "I'm joking." He rose up. "But seriously, what's up?"

"...I've… I've never...had a friend."

"Really?" Poch said in disbelief.

"Really...I have a bunch of followers on instagram but...those are followers not friends….hearing you call me a friend is...new to me."

"Wow...I woulda thought someone like you would have a good amount of friends."

"Sorry to disappoint."

"It's cool….I'm honored to be your first friend….and...I wanna tell you more about me...I want us to learn more about the other, I really do but…..the past is kinda a scar for me so...just give me some time."

"...I don't mind waiting…" she took out her phone, "cmere."

"Hm?"

"Come closer." she ushered him over.

He scooted closer to her and she wrapped her arm around him, pulling him close before angling her phone up, pointing the camera at them.

"Smile." She smiled and when he did so as well, she snapped a photo.

Loona walked into her living room, holding her doll. Blitzø was on the couch and jumped to her.

"Loonie! You're back! How was it?"

"...it was great...I had alot of fun." She smiled.

"Awww did you win that stuffed animal."

She looked at the doll before hearing her phone buzz. She looked at it to see it was Poch commenting on the post of the photo she took of them while at that dome. It said "With my first friend." and his comment said "oh crap! I just noticed I got corndog in my teeth!" She snickered.

"Loonie?"

She put her phone away and hugged the plush. "...a friend got me this."

"Aww that was nice of them!"

"Yeah…" her smile had an air of warmth in it.

"So...I'm thinking of spaghetti for dinner but with taco meat, that sound good?"
